| 1 | Meta-analysis and its application in global change research显示文摘Meta-analysis is a quantitative synthetic research method that statistically integrates results from in- dividual studies to find common trends and differences. With increasing concern over global change, meta-analysis has been rapidly adopted in global change research. Here, we introduce the methodolo- gies, advantages and disadvantages of meta-analysis, and review its application in global climate change research, including the responses of ecosystems to global warming and rising CO2 and O3 concentrations, the effects of land use and management on climate change and the effects of distur- bances on biogeochemistry cycles of ecosystem. Despite limitation and potential misapplication, meta-analysis has been demonstrated to be a much better tool than traditional narrative review in synthesizing results from multiple studies. Several methodological developments for research synthe- sis have not yet been widely used in global climate change researches such as cumulative meta-analysis and sensitivity analysis. It is necessary to update the results of meta-analysis on a given topic at regular intervals by including newly published studies. Emphasis should be put on multi-factor interaction and long-term experiments. There is great potential to apply meta-analysis to global climate change research in China because research and observation networks have been established (e.g. ChinaFlux and CERN), which create the need for combining these data and results to provide support for governments’ decision making on climate change. | 2 | Heavy metal accumulation by panicled goldenrain tree(Koelreuteria paniculata) and common elaeocarpus(Elaeocarpus decipens) in abandoned mine soils in southern China显示文摘Phytoremediation can be used as a sustainable technology for mine spoil remediation to remove heavy metals.This study investigated the concentration of 7 heavy metal contamination in soil and plant samples at an abandoned mine site.We found that,after vegetation remediation at the abandoned mine site,the reduction rates for 7 heavy metals were in the range of 4.2%-86%,where reduction rates over 50% were achieved for four heavy metals(Zn,Mn,Cd,Ni).Transfer coeffcients of the panicled goldenrain tree(Koelreuteria paniculata Laxm) and the common elaeocarpus(Elaeocarpus decipens) for Zn,Mn,Ni,and Co were more than 1.Enrichment coeffcients of both trees for Mn were higher than 1.Our results suggest that the panicled goldenrain tree and the common elaeocarpus tree may act as accumulators in remediation.Moreover,the woody vegetation remediation in abandoned mining areas play an important role in improving scenery besides removing heavy metal from contaminated soil. | TIAN Dalun ZHU Fan YAN Wende Fang Xi XIANG Wenhua DENG Xiangwen WANG Guangjun PENG Changhui | 2009 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,3: | 11 |
| 3 | Impacts of changed litter inputs on soil CO_2 efflux in three forest types in central south China显示文摘Climate change is expected to cause the alteration of litter production in forests,which may result in substantial changes in soil CO2 efflux (FCO2) process as litter represents a major pathway of carbon from vegetation to the soils.In this study,we conducted an aboveground litter manipulation experiment to examine the influence of litter addition and exclusion on soil FCO2 in Camphor tree,Masson pine,and mixed Camphor tree and Masson pine forests in central south China.Litter input manipulation included three treatments:non-litter input (litter exclusion),double litter input (litter addition),and natural litter input (control).On average,litter exclusion significantly reduced soil FCO2 rate by approximately 39%,24% and 22% in Camphor tree forests,the Mixed forests,and Masson pine forests,respectively.On a yearly basis,double litter addition significantly increased soil CO2 by 12% in the Mixed forests (P=0.02) but not in both Camphor tree and Masson pine forests (P>0.05),when compared with their corresponding control treatments.However,litter addition increased soil FCO2 rates in the months of June-August in Camphor tree and Masson pine forests,coinciding with high soil temperature of summer conditions.Litter exclusion reduced soil FCO2 more than litter addition increased it in the study sites.Responses of soil respiration to litter input treatments varied with forest types.Litter input treatments did not alter the seasonal patterns of soil temperature and soil water content.Our results indicated that changes in aboveground litter as a result of global climate change and/or forest management have a great potential to alter soil respiration and soil carbon balance in forest ecosystems. | YAN WenDe CHEN XiaoYong TIAN DaLun PENG YuanYing WANG GuangJun ZHENG Wei | 2013 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,3: | 11 |

| 5 | An analytical symplectic approach to the vibration analysis of orthotropic graphene sheets显示文摘A nonlocal continuum orthotropic plate model is proposed to study the vibration behavior of single-layer graphene sheets(SLGSs) using an analytical symplectic approach. A Hamiltonian system is established by introducing a total unknown vector consisting of the displacement amplitude, rotation angle, shear force, and bending moment.The high-order governing differential equation of the vibration of SLGSs is transformed into a set of ordinary differential equations in symplectic space. Exact solutions for free vibration are obtianed by the method of separation of variables without any trial shape functions and can be expanded in series of symplectic eigenfunctions. Analytical frequency equations are derived for all six possible boundary conditions. Vibration modes are expressed in terms of the symplectic eigenfunctions. In the numerical examples, comparison is presented to verify the accuracy of the proposed method. Comprehensive numerical examples for graphene sheets with Levy-type boundary conditions are given. | 6 | Soil respiration dynamics in Cinnamomum camphora forest and a nearby Liquidambar formosana forest in Subtropical China显示文摘Climate change can significantly affect carbon cycling of forest ecosystems.The diurnal and seasonal dynamics of soil respiration (Rs) in Cinnamomum camphora and Liquidambar formosana forests were investigated by using infrared gas exchange analyzer of Li-Cor 6400-09 each month in 2006.Soil temperature and moisture were also measured.Diurnal variations in Rs varied with daily soil temperature in the two forests.Across the growing season,soil respiration peaked on July 28 due to higher soil temperature and moisture conditions.Seasonal Rs variations were predominantly influenced by soil temperature.Seasonal soil respirations in C.camphora and L.formosana forests were strongly related to soil temperature (x) at 5-cm depth (Rs=0.1598e 0.1377x (R 2=0.9289,P=0.001) and Rs=0.2177e 0.0962x (R 2=0.927,P=0.000)),while annual mean Rs rate was 2.614 and 1.397 μmol m-2 s-1 and Q 10 values were 3.96 and 2.62 for the two forests,respectively.However,Rs was not influenced by seasonal changes in soil moisture (w) in the two forests in 2006.We developed two equations (Rs=-0.020w 2 +0.497w+0.562 (R 2=0.109,P>0.05),Rs=-0.001w 2 +0.072w +0.731(R 2=0.053,P>0.05)) to describe the relationship between Rs and soil moisture.A positive relationship between Rs and soil moisture were observed when soil moisture was below 12.43% and 18.00%,but when soil moisture exceeded threshold values of 12.43% and 18.00%,soil moisture became the restraint factor for Rs.Long-term observations of soil respiration and moisture are required to understand the temporal dynamics of soil respiration. | TIAN DaLun WANG GuangJun YAN WenDe XIANG WenHua PENG ChangHui | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,8: | 2 |

| 17 | Purification and characterization of lipoxygenase from Entermorpha clathrata显示文摘The purification and characterization of lipoxygenase (LOX,EC 1.13.11.12) from the green algae Enteromorpha clathrata were studied. Two components marked LOX-1 and LOX-2 were purified and their molecular masses were estimated to be 102 and 79 ku by SDS-PAGE. Both LOX-1 and LOX-2 were stable over the pH wide range 6.0~10.0 and had the optimum pH of 10.0 and 8.6,at optimum temperature of 30 and 25℃,respectively. Substrate specificities of LOX-1 and LOX-2 were the greatest towards linoleic acid,followed by arachidonic acid and linolenic acid. The Michaelis constant values of LOX-1 and LOX-2 were 0.23 and 0.20 mmol/dm3 with the substrate of linoleic acid. The LOX activities were stimulated greatly by Ca2+ but inhibited by Hg2+ and the antioxidants such as BHA,BHT and TBHQ. | 18 | Genome-wide association study exposed the pleiotropic genes for yield-related and oil quality traits in Brassica napus L.显示文摘Oilseed rape(Brassica napus L.) is an allotetraploid(AACC,2n=38) crop,valued for its edible oil and protein content.seed yield and nutritional composition of rapeseed are influenced by its yield and oil quality traits.However,the genetic basis of yield-related and oil-quality traits remain ambiguous.A panel of 266 diversified oilseed rape accessions was genotyped using 223 simple sequence repeat(SSR) markers covering all 19 chromosomes to identify significant markers associated with yield and quality traits.Twelve yield-related and six quality traits were investigated in two consecutive years(2014 and 2015),with three replications in two environments(Changshun,CS;and Qinghe,QH).Using the model GLM with population structure and kinship(Q+K),a total of 25 significant SSR markers(P <0.001) were detected to be associated with these twelve yield-related and six quality traits,explaining 4.56%-19.17% of the phenotypic variation for each trait.Based on these markers,BnaA03g23490D, BnaC09g46370D,BnaA07g37150D,BnaA01g32590D, and BnaC09g37280D were identified as pleiotropic genes controlling multiple traits.These candidate genes illustrated the potential for the genetic understanding of yield and oil quality traits.Most importantly,these significant markers can be used for marker-assisted breeding of oilseed rape in different environments. | Yang Xiang M.M.U.Helal Longbing Liang Minqin Zhang Hongshi Han Xianglai Dai Jixian Zhao Dalun Chen Xianping Wang Min Li Chuanji Zhao | 2023 | Oil Crop Science2023,8,3: | 0 |
