| 2 | Four-sample lactose hydrogen breath test for diagnosis of lactose malabsorption in irritable bowel syndrome patients with diarrhea显示文摘AIM: To validate 4-sample lactose hydrogen breath testing(4SLHBT) compared to standard 13-sample LHBT in the clinical setting.METHODS: Irritable bowel syndrome patients with diarrhea(IBS-D) and healthy volunteers(HVs) were enrolled and received a 10 g, 20 g, or 40 g doselactose hydrogen breath test(LHBT) in a randomized, double-blinded, controlled trial. The lactase gene promoter region was sequenced. Breath samples and symptoms were acquired at baseline and every 15 min for 3 h(13 measurements). The detection rates of lactose malabsorption(LM) and lactose intolerance(LI) for a 4SLHBT that acquired four measurements at 0, 90, 120, and 180 min from the same data set were compared with the results of standard LHBT.RESULTS: Sixty IBS-D patients and 60 HVs were studied. The genotype in all participants was C/C-13910. LM and LI detection rates increased with lactose dose from 10 g, 20 g to 40 g in both groups(P < 0.001). 4SLHBT showed excellent diagnostic concordance with standard LHBT(97%-100%, Kappa 0.815-0.942) with high sensitivity(90%-100%) and specificity(100%) at all three lactose doses in both groups.CONCLUSION: Reducing the number of measurements from 13 to 4 samples did not significantly impact on the accuracy of LHBT in health and IBS-D. 4SLHBT is a valid test for assessment of LM and LI in clinical practice. | Jian-Feng Yang Mark Fox Hua Chu Xia Zheng Yan-Qin Long Daniel Pohl Michael Fried Ning Dai | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015，21，24： | 4 |
| 3 | Characteristics of Clostridium difficile infection in patients hospitalized with myelodysplastic syndrome or acute myelogenous leukemia显示文摘AIM To evaluate factors associated with Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) and outcomes of CDI in the myelodysplastic syndrome(MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) population.METHODS After IRB approval,all MDS/AML patients hospitalized at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center between August 2011 and December 2013 were identified.Medical charts were reviewed for demographics,clinical information,development of CDI,complications of CDI,and mortality.Patients with CDI,defined as having a positive stool PCR done for clinical suspicion of CDI,were compared to those without CDI in order to identify predictors of disease.A t-test was used for comparison of continuous variables and chisquare or Fisher's exact tests were used for categorical variables,as appropriate.RESULTS Two hundred and twenty-three patients (60.1% male,mean age 61.3 years,13% MDS,87% AML) had 594 unique hospitalizations during the study period.Thirtyfour patients (15.2%) were diagnosed with CDI.Factors significantly associated with CDI included lower albumin at time of hospitalization (P < 0.0001),prior diagnosis of CDI (P < 0.0001),receipt of cytarabine-based chemotherapy (P = 0.015),total days of neutropenia (P = 0.014),and total days of hospitalization (P = 0.005).Gender (P = 0.10),age (P = 0.77),proton-pump inhibitor use (P = 0.73),receipt of antibiotics (P = 0.66),and receipt of DNA hypomethylating agent-based chemotherapy (P = 0.92) were not significantly associated with CDI.CONCLUSION CDI is common in the MDS/AML population.Factors significantly associated with CDI in this population include low albumin,prior CDI,use of cytarabine-based chemotherapy,and prolonged neutropenia.In this study,we have identified a subset of patients in which prophylaxis studies could be targeted. | Kamini Shah Bryan F Curtin Christopher Chu Daniel Hwang Mark H Flasar Erik von Rosenvinge | 2017 | World Journal of Clinical Oncology2017，8，5： | 3 |

| 13 | Monitoring long-term shoreline dynamics and human activities in the Hangzhou Bay,China,combining daytime and nighttime EO data显示文摘Shorelines are vulnerable to anthropogenic activities including urbanization,land reclamation and sediment loading.Shoreline changes may be a reflection of the degradation of coastal ecosystems because of human activities.Understanding the shoreline dynamics is,therefore,a topic of global concern.Earth observation data,such as multi-temporal satellite images,are an important resource for assessing changes in coastal ecosystems.In this research,we used Google Earth Engine(GEE)to monitor and map historical shoreline dynamics in the Hangzhou Bay in China where the Qiantang River flows into the East China Sea.Specifically,we aimed to capture and quantify both the spatial and temporal shoreline changes and to assess the link between anthropogenic activities and shoreline changes on the integrity of this coastal area.We implemented a Tasselled Cap analysis(TCA)on Landsat imagery from 1985 to 2018 in GEE to calculate the wetness coefficient.We then applied Otsu method for automatic image thresholding on the wetness coefficient to detect waterbodies and shoreline changes.Further,we adopted the nighttime light data from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program’s Operational Linescan System(DMSP-OLS)from 1992 to 2013 as a proxy of human activities.The results show that in the hotspot areas,the shoreline has moved by more than 5 km in the last decades,accounting for approximately 900 km^(2) of land accretion.Within this area,the human activity,indicated by the intensity of nighttime light,increased significantly.The results of this work reveal the influence of human activities on the shoreline dynamics and can support policies that promote the sustainable use and conservation of coastal environments.Our methodology can be transferred and applied to other coastal zones in various regions and scaled up to larger areas. | Lixia Chu Francis Oloo Martin Sudmanns Dirk Tiede Daniel Hölbling Thomas Blaschke | 2020 | Big Earth Data2020，4，3： | 1 |

| 20 | Application of network meta-analysis in the field of physical activity and health promotion显示文摘Continued advancement in the field of physical activity and health promotion relies heavily on the synthesis of rigorous scientific evidence.As such,systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials have led to a better understanding of which intervention strategies are superior(i.e.,produce the greatest effects)in physical activity-based health behavior change interventions.Indeed,standard meta-analytic approaches have allowed researchers in the field to synthesize relevant experimental evidence using pairwise procedures that produce reliable estimates of the homogeneity,magnitude,and potential biases in the observed effects.However,pairwise meta-analytic procedures are only capable to discerning differences in effects between a select intervention strategy and a select comparison or control condition.In order to maximize the impact of physical activity interventions on health-related outcomes,it is necessary to establish evidence concerning the comparative efficacy of all relevant physical activity intervention strategies.The development of network meta-analysis(NMA)-most commonly used in medical-based clinical trials-has allowed for the quantification of indirect comparisons,even in the absence of direct,head-to-head trials.Thus,it stands to reason that NMA can be applied in physical activity and health promotion research to identify the best intervention strategies.Given that this analysis technique is novel and largely unexplored in the field of physical activity and health promotion,care must be taken in its application to ensure reliable estimates and discernment of the effect sizes among interventions.Therefore,the purpose of this review is to comment on the potential application and importance of NMA in the field of physical activity and health promotion,describe how to properly and effectively apply this technique,and suggest important considerations for its appropriate application in this field.In this paper,overviews of the foundations of NMA and commonly used approaches for conducting NMA are provided,followed by assumptions related to NMA,opportunities and challenges in NMA,and a step-by-step example of developing and conducting an NMA. | Xiwen Su Daniel J.McDonough Haitao Chu Minghui Quan Zan Gao | 2020 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2020，9，6： | 1 |
