1Generalized non-linear strength theory and transformed stress space显示文摘Based on the test data of frictional materials and previous research achievements in this field, a generalized non-linear strength theory (GNST) is proposed. It describes non-linear strength properties on the π-plane and the meridian plane using a unified formula, and it includes almost all the present non-linear strength theories, which can be used in just one material. The shape of failure function of the GNST is a smooth curve between the SMP criterion and the Mises criterion on the π-plane, and an exponential curve on the meridian plane. 2A new method of developing elastic-plastic-viscous constitutive model for clays显示文摘A new method is presented to develop the existing elastic-plastic constitutive model into an elastic-plastic-viscous one for clays.The actual loading process is divided into an instant process and a delayed process denoting the elastic-plastic strain and viscous strain, respectively. The elastic-plastic strain is determined by either an elastic-plastic model for overconsolidated clays or an improved model based on the elastic-plastic model for normally consolidated clays. In order to calculate viscous strain, a reference state line is defined based on the actual loading path. Combining the reference state line, an existing elastic-plastic model can be conveniently developed into an elastic-plastic-viscous model. Furthermore, using the proposed method, the modified cam clay model is extended into an elastic-plastic-viscous model. 3Time-dependent surrounding soil pressure and mechanical response of tunnel lining induced by surrounding soil viscosity显示文摘A numerical simulation method of shield tunnel excavation is developed to capture the time-dependent deformation behaviour of surrounding soil. The simulation method consists of four parts:(i) an elastic-plastic-viscous constitutive model that can not only reasonably describe the viscous deformation behaviour of soil, but also appropriately calculate the plastic deformation under typical stress paths of excavation;(ii) simulation of main factors related to shield tunnel excavation, including the shield machine, face pressure, lining, grout behavior, and contacts between multiple media;(iii) a simulation procedure for excavation to reflect the process of shield tunnel excavation and achieve reasonable stress and strain fields at the end of the construction stage;(iv) a creep process that is used to investigate the long-term mechanical behaviours of the surrounding soil and tunnel lining. Taking the CK570H tunnel project in Taipei as the background, a numerical simulation is conducted by adopting the developed simulation method. Based on the simulation results, the radial and circumferential stresses acting on the lining, which are induced by the surrounding soil viscosity, are analysed. The rule of the mechanical response of lining, including its deformation, bending moment, and axial force, with time is revealed. 4A 3D elastic-plastic-viscous constitutive model for soils considering the stress path dependency显示文摘In order to consider the stress path dependency of soils,this paper decomposes any arbitrary stress path into several infinitesimal stress paths.Then the infinitesimal stress path is further transformed into the superposition of two parts,i.e..a constant stress ratio part and a constant mean stress part,which arc sufficiently close to the real stress path.T he plastic strain increments under the transformed paths arc determined separately,and then the plastic strain under any path is obtained.Based on the in­stantaneous loading line of normally consolidated soil,a reference state line is proposed to determine the overconsolidation ratio and creep time of soil.The overconsolidation ratio is introduced into the viscous How rule to obtain the viscous strain increment.The strcss-strain-timc relationship for triaxial compression condition is extended to 3D stress condition by the transformed stress method.The proposed model adopts only seven material parameters and each of them has a clear physical meaning.Com­parisons with test results demonstrate that the model can not only reasonably predict the plastic strain under typical stress paths of excavation,but adequately capture the time-dependent behaviours of soils,including creep,stress relaxation and strain rate effect.LU DeChun MIAO JinBo DU XiuLi TIAN Yu YAO YangPing 2020Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,5:2

10Novel hybrid method to predict the ground-displacement field caused by shallow tunnel excavation显示文摘Based on machine-learning(ML) and analytical methods, a hybrid method is developed herein to predict the ground-displacement field(GDF) caused by tunneling. The extreme learning machine(ELM), as a single hidden layer feedforward neural network, is used as an ML model to predict maximum settlement smaxof the ground surface. The particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm is applied to optimize the parameters for the ELM method, namely, weight and bias values from the input layer to the hidden layer. The mean square error of the k-fold cross validation sets is considered the fitness function of the PSO algorithm. For 38 data samples from published papers, 30 samples are used as the training set, and 8 samples are used as the test set. For the test samples, the error of five samples ranges between-5 and 5 mm. The error of only one sample is slightly greater than 10 mm. The proposed PSO-ELM method demonstrates good prediction performance of smax. A deformation parameter of the nonuniform displacement mode for the tunnel cross-section is calibrated based on predicted smax. When the determined nonuniform displacement mode is used as the boundary condition of the tunnel cross-section, the GDF of a shallow circular tunnel is analytically predicted based on the complex-variable method prior to tunnel excavation. 12Seismic performance of a rectangular subway station with earth retaining system显示文摘Much effort has been made in investigating the seismic response and failure mechanism of rectangular subway stations,however,the influence of earth retaining systems has generally been ignored in previous studies.This paper presents a numerical study on the seismic performance of a rectangular subway station with/without earth retaining systems by taking fender piles as the example,and aims to illustrate how the existence of fender piles affects seismic responses on subway stations.The loading conditions of subway stations and their surrounding soils prior to earthquakes are discussed.Next,seismic responses of subway stations with or without fender piles were simulated.Afterward,earthquake-induced deformations of stations and surrounding soils,as well as the internal forces and damage modes of the structural components,were systematically studied.Consequently,the seismic performance of the stations was affected by the existence of fender piles.In addition,earthquake intensity is illustrated.The study showed that deformation modes of surrounding soils and damage modes of stations were different with regard to the existence of fender piles.Meanwhile,earthquake intensity influencing the seismic performance of stations with or without fender piles were found to be opposite.Ma Chao Lu Dechun Du Xiuli Qi Chengzhi 2022Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2022,21,1:1

14Penile erectile dysfunction after brachial plexus root avulsion injury in rats显示文摘Our previous studies have demonstrated that some male patients suffering from brachial plexus injury,particularly brachial plexus root avulsion,show erectile dysfunction to varying degrees.However,the underlying mechanism remains poorly understood.In this study,we evaluated the erectile function after establishing brachial plexus root avulsion models with or without spinal cord injury in rats.After these models were established,we administered apomorphine(via a subcutaneous injection in the neck) to observe changes in erectile function.Rats subjected to simple brachial plexus root avulsion or those subjected to brachial plexus root avulsion combined with spinal cord injury had significantly fewer erections than those subjected to the sham operation.Expression of neuronal nitric oxide synthase did not change in brachial plexus root avulsion rats.However,neuronal nitric oxide synthase expression was significantly decreased in brachial plexus root avulsion + spinal cord injury rats.These findings suggest that a decrease in neuronal nitric oxide synthase expression in the penis may play a role in erectile dysfunction caused by the combination of brachial plexus root avulsion and spinal cord injury.Guo Fu Bengang Qin Li Jiang Xijun Huang Qinsen Lu Dechun Zhang Xiaolin Liu Jiakai Zhu Jianwen Zheng Xuejia Li Liqiang Gu 2014Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,20:0

18A numerical framework for underground structures in layered ground under inclined P-SV waves using stiffness matrix and domain reduction methods显示文摘A numerical framework was proposed for the seismic analysis of underground structures in layered ground under inclined P-SV waves.The free-field responses are first obtained using the stiffness matrix method based on plane-wave assumptions.Then,the domain reduction method was employed to reproduce the wavefield in the numerical model of the soil–structure system.The proposed numerical framework was verified by providing comparisons with analytical solutions for cases involving free-field responses of homogeneous ground,layered ground,and pressure-dependent heterogeneous ground,as well as for an example of a soil–structure interaction simulation.Compared with the viscous and viscous-spring boundary methods adopted in previous studies,the proposed framework exhibits the advantage of incorporating oblique incident waves in a nonlinear heterogeneous ground.Numerical results show that SV-waves are more destructive to underground structures than P-waves,and the responses of underground structures are significantly affected by the incident angles.Yusheng YANG Haitao YU Yong YUAN Dechun LU Qiangbing HUANG 2023Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2023,17,1:0
19Constitutive modelling of fabric effect on sand liquefaction显示文摘Sand liquefaction under static and dynamic loading can cause failure of embankments,slopes,bridges and other important infrastructure.Sand liquefaction in the seabed can also cause submarine landslides and tsunamis.Fabric anisotropy related to the internal soil structure such as particle orientation,force network and void space is found to have profound influence on sand liquefaction.A constitutive model accounting for the effect of anisotropy on sand liquefaction is proposed.Evolution of fabric anisotropy during loading is considered according to the anisotropic critical state theory for sand.The model has been validated by extensive test results on Toyoura sand with different initial densities and stress states.The effect of sample preparation method on sand liquefaction is qualitatively analysed.The model has been used to investigate the response of a sand ground under earthquake loading.It is shown that sand with horizontal bedding plane has the highest resistance to liquefaction when the sand deposit is anisotropic,which is consistent with the centrifuge test results.The initial degree of fabric anisotropy has a more significant influence on the liquefaction resistance.Sand with more anisotropic fabric that can be caused by previous loading history or compaction methods has lower liquefaction resistance.Zhiwei Gao Dechun Lu Yue Hou Xin Li 2023Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,4:0
20Analytical solutions for the restraint effect of isolation piles against tunneling-induced vertical ground displacements显示文摘This paper presents a simplified elastic continuum method for calculating the restraint effect of isolation piles on tunneling-induced vertical ground displacement,which can consider not only the relative sliding of the pile‒soil interface but also the pile rowesoil interaction.The proposed method is verified by comparisons with existing theoretical methods,including the boundary element method and the elastic foundation method.The results reveal the restraining mechanism of the isolation piles on vertical ground displacements due to tunneling,i.e.the positive and negative restraint effects exerted by the isolation piles jointly drive the ground vertical displacement along the depth direction from the original tunneling-induced nonlinear variation situation to a relatively uniform situation.The results also indicate that the stiffness of the pile‒soil interface,including the pile shaft‒surrounding soil interface and pile tip-supporting soil interface,describes the strength of the pile‒soil interaction.The pile rows can confine the vertical ground displacement caused by the tunnel excavation to the inner side of the isolation piles and effectively prevent the vertical ground displacement from expanding further toward the outer side of the isolation piles.Liqiang Cao Xiangsheng Chen Xing-Tao Lin Dong Su Huangcheng Fang Dechun Lu 2023Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,10:0
