| 2 | DNA image cytometry test for primary screening of esophageal cancer: a population-based multi-center study in high-risk areas in China显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of DNA image cytometry(DNA-ICM) as a primary screening method for esophageal squamous cell cancer(ESCC).Methods: A total of 5,382 local residents aged 40–69 years from three high-risk areas in China(Linzhou in Henan province, Feicheng in Shandong province and Cixian in Hebei province) from 2008 to 2011 were recruited in this population-based screening study. And 2,526 subjects declined to receive endoscopic biopsy examination with Lugol's iodine staining, while 9 and 815 subjects were excluded from liquid-based cytology and DNA-ICM test respectively due to slide quality. Finally, 2,856, 5,373 and 4,567 subjects were enrolled in the analysis for endoscopic biopsy examination, liquid-based cytology and DNA-ICM test, respectively. Sensitivity(SE), specificity(SP), negative predictive values(NPV) and positive predictive values(PPV) as well as their 95% confidence intervals(95% CI) for DNA-ICM, liquid-based cytology and the combination of the two methods were calculated. Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves were applied to determine the cutoff point of DNA-ICM for esophageal cancer.Results: DNA-ICM results were significantly correlative with esophageal cancer and precancer lesions(χ~2=18.016, P<0.001). The cutoff points were 5,802, 5,803 and 8,002 based on dissimilar pathological types of low grade intraepithelial neoplasia(LGIN), high grade intraepithelial neoplasia(HGIN), and ESCC, respectively, and 5,803 was chosen in this study considering the SE and SP. The SE, SP, PPV, NPV of DNA-ICM test(cutoff point 5,803) combined with liquid-based cytology [threshold atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance(ASCUS)] were separately 72.1%(95% CI: 70.3%-73.9%), 43.3%(95% CI: 41.3%-45.3%), 22.8%(95% CI: 21.1%-24.5%) and 87.0%(95% CI: 85.7%-88.3%) for LGIN, 85.7%(95% CI: 84.3%-87.1%), 41.3%(95% CI: 39.3%-43.3%), 4.6%(95% CI: 3.8%-5.4%) and 98.9%(95% CI: 98.5%-99.3%) for HGIN, and 96.0%(95% CI: 95.2%-96.8%), 40.8%(95% CI: 38.8%-42.8%), 1.7%(95% CI: 1.2%-2.2%) and 99.9%(95% CI: 99.8%-100.0%) for ESCC.Conclusions: It is possible to use DNA-ICM test as a primary screening method before endoscopic screening for esophageal cancer. | Meng Wang Changqing Hao Qing Ma Guohui Song Shanrui Ma Deli Zhao Lin Zhao Xinqing Li Wenqiang Wei | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2016,28,4: | 15 |
| 3 | Seed dormancy and germination characteristics of two Rheum species in the Himalaya-Hengduan Mountains显示文摘Seed dormancy and germination characteristics are important factors determining plant reproductive success, and may be expected to have a major influence on plant distribution. In this study, we aimed to explore the characteristics of seed dormancy and germination in two endemic Rheum species(Rheum nobile and Rheum alexandrae) in the Himalaya-Hengduan Mountains. To determine the type of dormancy,fresh seeds of the two species(one population each) were incubated in light at 25/15 and 15/5℃, and then dry after-ripening(DAR) seeds were incubated on water agar substrate with or without GA_3. To determine the effect of temperature and light on germination, DAR seeds of the two species(two populations each) were incubated both in the light and in the dark at several temperatures, including constant and alternating temperatures. Base temperature(T_b) and thermal times for 50% germination(θ_(50)) were calculated. DAR released physiological dormancy(PD), increasing final germination at 15/5℃ and widening the range of germination temperatures from higher to lower, indicative of type 2 non-deep PD for the two Rheum species. Light had no significant effect on germination of seeds from the two species(two populations each). Seeds of the two species germinated significantly better(>80%) at medium temperatures(10-25℃) than at extreme low(5℃) or high(35℃) temperatures. Alternating temperatures(25/15 and 15/5℃) did not significantly increase the final germination of the two species either in the light and in the dark, but it promoted seed germination more quickly than corresponding constant temperatures in the light in both Rh. alexandrae populations, especially at 15/5℃. Germination in response to temperature was well described by the thermal-time model at suboptimal temperatures. The estimated Tbvalues were 1 and 0.9℃, respectively, in two Rh. nobile populations; 4 and 4.1℃,respectively, in two Rh. alexandrae populations; θ_(50)(thermal time) were 100 and 125℃d, respectively in two Rh. nobile populations; 76.92 and 83.33℃d, respectively in two Rh. alexandrae populations. The dormancy type, and germination responses to temperature and light condition does not explain why the two Rheum species are distributed in contrasting habitats. | 5 | Geochemical and Nd-Hf Isotopic Constraints on the Petrogenesis of an Archean Granitoid in the Erguna Massif, NE China显示文摘Crystalline basement and Precambrian crustal growth of the continental massifs within the Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB) are still pending problems. Our geological and geochemical investigations identified an Archean(2606 Ma) granitic pluton in the Biliya area of the Erguna Massif. The Neoarchean granitoids show high and positive in-situ zircon ε_(Ht)(t)(+0.3 to +10.0), whole-rock ε_(Nd)(t)(+4.8) and whole-rock ε_(Ht)(t) values(+2.1). They are characterized by high Y + Ce + Zr + Nb(> 220 ppm) and Zr contents and could be classified as A-type granites. These granitoids are characterized by high Zr saturation temperatures(T;)(796–836°C). They were derived from partial re-melting of juvenile mafic lower crust in an intracontinental back-arc extensional environment. | 14 | High-entropy L1_(2)-Pt(FeCoNiCuZn)_(3) intermetallics for ultrastable oxygen reduction reaction显示文摘Enhancing the stability of Pt-based electrocatalysts for the sluggish cathodic oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)is critical for proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs).Herein,high-entropy intermetallic(HEI)L1_(2)-Pt(FeCoNiCuZn)3is designed for durable ORR catalysis.Benefiting from the unique HEI structure and the enhanced intermetallic phase stability,Pt(FeCoNiCuZn)3/C nanoparticles demonstrate significantly improved stability over Pt/C and PtCu_(3)/C catalysts.The Pt(FeCoNiCuZn)3/C exhibits a negligible decay of the half-wave potential during 30,000 potential cycles from 0.6 to 1.0 V,whereas Pt/C and PtCu_(3)/C are negatively shifted by 46 and 36 m V,respectively.Even after 10,000 cycles at potential up to 1.5 V,the mass activity of Pt(FeCoNiCuZn)3/C still shows~70%retention.As evidenced by the structural characterizations,the HEI structure of Pt(FeCoNiCuZn)3/C is well maintained,while PtCu_(3)/C nanoparticles undergo severe Cu leaching and particle growth.In addition,when assembled Pt(FeCoNiCuZn)3/C as the cathode in high-temperature PEMFC of 160℃,the H_(2)-O_(2)fuel cell delivers almost no degradation even after operating for 150 h,demonstrating the potential for fuel cell applications.This work provides a facile design strategy for the development of high-performance ultrastable electrocatalysts. | Qian Zhang Tao Shen Min Song Shuang Wang Jialin Zhang Xiao Huang Shanfu Lu Deli Wang | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,11: | 0 |

Herein, the progress on electrocatalysts for H_(2)O_(2) generation, including noble metal, transition metalbased, and carbon-based materials, is summarized. At first, the design strategies employed to obtain electrocatalysts with high electroactivity and high selectivity are highlighted. Then, the critical roles of the geometry of the electrodes and the type of reactor in striking a balance to boost the H_(2)O_(2) selectivity and reaction rate are systematically discussed. After that, a potential strategy to combine the complementary properties of the catalysts and the reactor for optimal selectivity and overall yield is illustrated. | 16 | Patterns and drivers of plant sexual systems in the dry-hot valley region of southwestern China显示文摘Sexual systems play important roles in angiosperm evolution and exhibit substantial variations among different floras. Thus, studying their evolution in a whole flora is crucial for understanding the formation and maintenance of plant biodiversity and predicting its responses to environmental change. In this study, we determined the patterns of plant sexual systems and their associations with geographic elements and various life-history traits in dry-hot valley region of southwestern China, an extremely vulnerable ecosystem. Of the 3166 angiosperm species recorded in this area, 74.5% were hermaphroditic,13.5% were monoecious and 12% were dioecious, showing a high incidence of diclinous species. Diclinous species were strongly associated with tropical elements, whereas hermaphroditic species were strongly associated with temperate and cosmopolitan elements. We also found that hermaphroditism was strongly associated with showy floral displays, specialist entomophily, dry fruits and herbaceous plants.Dioecy was strongly associated with inconspicuous, pale-colored flowers, generalist entomophily, fleshy fruits, and woody plants, whereas monoecy was strongly associated with inconspicuous, pale-colored flowers, anemophily, dry fruits, and herbaceous plants. In addition, hermaphroditic species with generalist entomophily tended to flower in the dry season, whereas diclinous species with specialist entomophily tended to flower in the rainy season. However, independent of sexual systems, plants that produce dry fruits tended to flower in the rainy season and set fruits in the dry season, but the opposite pattern was found for fleshy fruit-producing plants. | 17 | Tuning the hydrogen and hydroxyl adsorption on Ru nanoparticles for hydrogen electrode reactions via size controlling显示文摘Controlling the particle size of catalyst to understand the active sites is the key to design efficient electrocatalysts toward hydrogen electrode reactions including hydrogen oxidation and evolution(HOR/HER).Herein, the hydrogen and hydroxyl adsorption on Ru/C could be effectively tuned for HOR/HER by simple controlling the particle sizes. It is found that the metallic Ru(Ru0) is the active site for HOR/HER, while oxidized Ru(Rux+) will hinder the adsorption and desorption of hydrogen on the catalyst. For the HOR,catalyst with small particles is more efficient, due to it is a three-phase interface reaction of gas on the surface of the catalyst. For the HER, the metallic state of Ru is crucial. The deconvolution of hydrogen peaks indicates that the catalytic sites with low hydrogen binding energy(HBE) shoulder the majority of the HOR activity. CO stripping curve further demonstrates that the stronger hydroxyl species(OHad)affinity is beneficial to promote the HOR performance.
