| 1 | The effect of wave-induced radiation stress on storm surge during Typhoon Saomai(2006)显示文摘The effects of wave-induced radiation stress on storm surge were simulated during Typhoon Saomai using a wave-current coupled model based on ROMS (Regional Ocean Modeling System) ocean model and SWAN (Simulating Waves Nearshore) wave model.The results show that radiation stress can cause both set-up and set-down in the storm surge.Wave-induced set-up near the coast can be explained by decreasing significant wave heights as the waves propagate shoreward in an approximately uniform direction;wave-induced set-down far from the coast can be explained by the waves propagating in an approximately uniform direction with increasing significant wave heights.The shoreward radiation stress is the essential reason for the wave-induced set-up along the coast.The occurrence of set-down can be also explained by the divergence of the radiation stress.The maximum wave-induced set-up occurs on the right side of the Typhoon path,whereas the maximum wave induced set-down occurs on the left side. | FENG Xingru YIN Baoshu YANG Dezhou WILLIAM Perrie | 2011 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2011,30,3: | 9 |
| 2 | The study on seasonal characteristics of water masses in the western East China Sea shelf area显示文摘On the basis of the CTD data and the modeling results in the winter and summer of 2009, the seasonal characteristics of the water masses in the western East China Sea shelf area were analyzed using a cluster analysis method. The results show that the distributions and temperature-salinity characteristics of the water masses in the study area are of distinct seasonal difference. In the western East China Sea shelf area, there are three water masses during winter, i.e., continental coastal water(CCW), Taiwan Warm Current surface water(TWCSW) and Yellow Sea mixing water(YSMW), but four ones during summer, i.e., the CCW, the TWCSW, Taiwan Warm Current deep water(TWCDW) and the YSMW. Of all, the CCW, the TWCSW and the TWCDW are all dominant water masses. The CCW, primarily characterized by a low salinity, has lower temperature, higher salinity and smaller spatial extent in winter than in summer. The TWCSW is warmer, fresher and smaller in summer than in winter, and it originates mostly from the Kuroshio surface water(KSW) northeast of Taiwan, China and less from the Taiwan Strait water during winter, but it consists of the strait water and the KSW during summer. | 3 | Effect of butanol on flotation separation of quartz from hematite with N-dodecyl ethylenediamine显示文摘In order to investigate the effect of butanol on quartz flotation when N-dodecyl ethylenediamine(ND)was used as collector, single mineral flotation and artificial mixed mineral(hematite and quartz were mixed at a mass ratio of 3:2) separation were conducted in the laboratory. Experimental results indicated that addition of butanol could improve the collecting performance of ND on quartz and enhance the floatability of quartz. Best flotation recovery of quartz was obtained when butanol was mixed with ND at a mass ratio of 1:1. Moreover, the molecular structure of alcohols had a significant effect on mineral recovery. Best separation efficiency could be obtained when tert-butanol was added as it had the largest cross-sectional area. Zeta potential measurements indicated that alcohols could strengthen electrostatic adsorption between quartz and collector. | 5 | Improvement of different source function expressions in SWAN model for the Bohai Sea显示文摘The simulating wave nearshore (SWAN) wave model has been widely used in coastal areas, lakes and estuaries. However, we found a poor agreement between modeling results and measurements in analyzing the chosen four typical cases when we used the default parameters of the source function formulas of the SWAN to make wave simulation for the Bohai Sea. Also, it was found that at the same wind process the simulated results of two wind generation expressions (Komen, Janssen) demonstrated a large difference. Further study showed that the proportionality coefficient α in linear growth term of wave growth source function plays an unperceived role in the process of wave development. Based on experiments and analysis, we thought that the coefficient α should change rather than be a constant. Therefore, the coefficient α changing with the variation of friction velocity U_* was introduced into the linear growth term of wave growth source function. Four weather processes were adopted to validate the improvement in the linear growth term. The results from the improved coefficient α agree much better with the measurements than those from the default constant coefficient α. Furthermore, the large differences of results between Komen wind generation expression and Janssen wind generation expression were eliminated. We also experimented with the four weather processes to test the new white-capping mechanisms based on the cumulative steepness method. | 7 | Sea-level changes controlled detrital sediment inputs to the Bicol Shelf in the western Philippine Sea since 150 ka显示文摘Detrital sediments derived from the Philippine Islands are one of the main sources of deep-sea sediments in the western Philippine Sea.However,systematic research on their characteristics and transport mechanisms are lacking.We used parametric end-member analysis to quantitatively partition the grain size of detrital sediments in core MD06-3052 from the Bicol Shelf in the western Philippine Sea;three endmembers EMI,EM2,and EM3,whose respective modes were at 2,10,and 45 μm,were separated.We also measured the Sr and Nd isotopic compositions of different size fractions(<4 and >20 μm) of the detrital sediments and the results showed that the detrital sediments mainly originate from the Philippine Islands.Components EMI and EM2 are transported to the Bicol Shelf mainly by surface and bottom currents from the islands,and component EM3 is delivered by gravity flow from the exposed shelf during low sea-level stands.The content of the total detrital fraction and the three end-members,as well as the mass accumulation rates(MARs) of the coarse detritus(EM2 and EM3),were considerably higher during glacial periods(40-14 ka and 150-130 ka) than during other intervals;the glacials corresponded to a low sea level,while the MAR of the fine detritus(EMI) did not increase remarkably during 40-14 ka.We therefore concluded that the input of coarse detritus to the Bicol Shelf from the islands was mainly controlled by sea-level change.Variations of the input of fine-grained detritus(EM1) was influenced not only by sea level but also by ocean currents and regional precipitation.Overall,our results help understand 'source-to-sink' processes in the western Pacific marginal seas and their response to global change. | ZHANG Zhishun JIANG Fuqing LI Tiegang YANG Dezhou ZHOU Xiaojing XIONG Zhifang QIU Xiaohua JIA Qi YAN Yu FENG Xuguang | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,4: | 2 |

| 12 | Synthesis and photoactivity of pH-responsive amphiphilic block polymer photosensitizer bonded zinc phthalocyanine显示文摘A zinc tetraaminophthalocyanine derivative, zinc tetra(methacryloyl moiety)aminophthalocyanine (MeZnAPc) (with a double bond) was synthesized by the reaction between zinc tetraaminophthalocyanine (ZnTAPc) and methacryloyl chloride. Atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) was employed as the polymerization technique to obtain a novel pH-responsive polymeric photosensitizer (PEG110-b-P(DPAn-co-MeZnAPcm)) by copolymerizing of methoxypolyethylene glycols (MPEG) (as reducing agent), 2-(isopropylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DPA) and MeZnAPc. This photosensitizer was characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, FTIR, H NMR, etc. The results indicated that the photosensitizer presented the well pH-responsive be 1 havior around the pH range 6.0-6.5 and the high photoactivity to 1,3-diphenylisobenzofuran (DPBF). The result of photocatalysis oxidation of L-tryptophan (L-Try) suggested that zinc phthalocyanine could present high photoactivity due to its dispersivity at pH 5.5 without formation of micelles, and its photoactivity decreased dramatically at pH 7.4 due to wrapping ZnTAPc into the micelles.
