| 1 | Patent Citations Analysis and Its Value in Research Evaluation: A Review and a New Approach to Map Technology-relevant Research显示文摘Purpose:First,to review the state-of-the-art in patent citation analysis,particularly characteristics of patent citations to scientific literature(scientific non-patent references,SNPRs).Second,to present a novel mapping approach to identify technology-relevant research based on the papers cited by and referring to the SNPRs.Design/methodology/approach:In the review part we discuss the context of SNPRs such as the time lags between scientific achievements and inventions.Also patent-to-patent citation is addressed particularly because this type of patent citation analysis is a major element in the assessment of the economic value of patents.We also review the research on the role of universities and researchers in technological development,with important issues such as universities as sources of technological knowledge and inventor-author relations.We conclude the review part of this paper with an overview of recent research on mapping and network analysis of the science and technology interface and of technological progress in interaction with science.In the second part we apply new techniques for the direct visualization of the cited and citing relations of SNPRs,the mapping of the landscape around SNPRs by bibliographic coupling and co-citation analysis,and the mapping of the conceptual environment of SNPRs by keyword co-occurrence analysis.Findings:We discuss several properties of SNPRs.Only a small minority of publications covered by the Web of Science or Scopus are cited by patents,about 3%–4%.However,for publications based on university-industry collaboration the number of SNPRs is considerably higher,around 15%.The proposed mapping methodology based on a 'second order SNPR approach' enables a better assessment of the technological relevance of research.Research limitations:The main limitation is that a more advanced merging of patent and publication data,in particular unification of author and inventor names,in still a necessity.Practical implications:The proposed mapping methodology enables the creation of a database of technology-relevant papers(TRPs).In a bibliometric assessment the publications of research groups,research programs or institutes can be matched with the TRPs and thus the extent to which the work of groups,programs or institutes are relevant for technological development can be measured.Originality/value:The review part examines a wide range of findings in the research of patent citation analysis.The mapping approach to identify a broad range of technologyrelevant papers is novel and offers new opportunities in research evaluation practices. | Anthony F.J. van Raan | 2017 | Journal of Data and Information Science2017,2,1: | 12 |

| 4 | HIGH-TEMPERATURE OXIDATION OF FGH96 P/M SUPERALLOY显示文摘High temperature oxidation behaviors of FGH96 P/M superalloy have been studied in air at temperatures ranging from 600 to 1000℃. By means of isothermal oxidation testing,X-ray diffraction,SEM(scanning electron microscopy),and EDS(energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) analyses,the oxidation kinetics as well as the composition and morphology of scales were investigated. Thermodynamic calculations were used to explain the oxidation mechanism. The results showed that as the oxidation temperature increased,the oxidation rate,the scale thickness,and scale spallation increased. FGH96 P/M superalloy exhibits good oxidation resistance at temperature below 800℃. The oxidation kinetics follows an approximately parabolic rate law,and the oxide layer was mainly composed of Cr2O3,TiO2,and a little amount of NiCr2O4. | 5 | 视网膜血管直径与卒中风险的关系:鹿特丹研究显示文摘Background: Retinal vessels may provide information on cerebral vascular pathology, because they share many features with cerebral vessels. A smaller ratio of the retinal arteriolar-to-venular diameters reportedly predicts the risk of stroke. It is unclear if this is due to arteriolar narrowing or venular dilation. Objective: To investigate whether smaller arteriolar or larger venular diameters are related to the risk of stroke and cerebral infarction. Methods: This study was based on the prospective population-based Rotterdam Study and included 5,540 participants of 55 years or over, who had gradable fundus transparencies and were free of stroke at baseline (1990 to 1993). For each participant, retinal arteriolar and venular diameters were measured on digitized images of one eye. Follow-up for first-ever stroke was complete until January 1, 2002. Results: After a mean follow-up of 8.5 years, 411 participants had a stroke, of whom 259 had cerebral infarction. Larger venular diameters were associated with an increased risk of stroke (hazard ratio [HR] adjusted for age and sex per SD increase: 1.12 [95%CI: 1.02 to 1.24]) and cerebral infarction (HR: 1.15 [95%CI: 1.02 to 1.29]). Smaller arteriolar diameters were neither related to the risk of stroke (HR per SD decrease: 1.02 [95%CI: 0.93 to 1.13]) nor to the risk of cerebral infarction (HR: 1.02 [95%CI: 0.90 to 1.15]). After additional adjustment for other cardiovascular risk factors, the results did not change. Conclusions: Larger retinal venular diameters are associated with an increased risk of stroke and cerebral infarction. | 6 | 法洛四联症患者肺动脉瓣置换后自体移植物功能的长期随访显示文摘Aims: To analyse the long-term outcomes after pulmonary valve replacement(PVR) in patients with a previous correction for tetralogy of Fallot. Methods and results: In a retrospective study, 158 adult patients with a diagnosis of tetralogy of Fallot, who had undergone a PVR after initial total correction in childhood, were identified from the CONCOR(CONgenital CORvitia) registry. All patients underwent 175 PVRs between June 1986 and June 2005. To analyse the predictors for homograft dysfunction and adverse events(death, reoperations, balloon angioplasty), Cox-regression analysis was performed. Overall freedom from significant homograft dysfunction was 66%after 5 years and 47%after 10 years. We could not identify predictors for combined homograft dysfunction. Event-free survival was 78%at 10 years and 68%at 15 years after PVR. Both early significant pulmonary regurgitation(PR)(HR 6.8, P=0.017) and pulmonary stenosis(PS)(HR 4.0, P=0.037) after surgery were associated with adverse events. When analysing direct post-operative PR or PS,we observed that in patients with severe, pre-operative PR, right ventricular aneurysm/patch resection resulted in a lower post-operative PR(mean difference grade 0.38±0.14, P=0.01). Less significant post-operative PS was associated with a higher diameter of the homograft(HR 0.37, P=0.006). Conclusion: While 47%of the patients in our study were free from homograft dysfunction at 10 years after PVR, event-free survival after PVR remained fairly good(78%). Significant residual lesions directly after surgery influenced event-free survival. | 7 | STUDY ON REDUCING THE CORE LOSS OF GRAIN ORIENTED SILICON STEEL AND IMPROVING ITS AGING PROPERTY BY LASER NITRIDING TECHNIQUE IN ATMOSPHERIC AMBIENT显示文摘CW-CO2 laser nitriding technique was applied to improve the properties (such as aging property and the core loss) of grain oriented silicon steel. The samples were nitrided with regular space. Laser power density and scanning speed were chosen as 7.8×105W·cm-2 and 100mm·min-1. By some laser irradiation, Fe4N and Fe3N were formed in the nitrided zone. The nitrided samples were annealed at the temperatures ranged from 100 to 900°C. The core loss of some interested samples was tested. The results show that the core loss of the nitrided samples with different thickness of 0.23 and 0.30mm decreased by 14.9% and 9.4% respectively, and the aging property were improved up to 800°C. | 18 | Controlling the gelation temperature of biomimetic polyisocyanides显示文摘Thermosensitive polymers show an entropy-driven transition from a well-solvated to a poorly solvated polymer chain, resulting in a more compact globular conformation. The transition at the lower critical solution temperature(LCST) is often sharp, which allows for a wide range of smart material applications.At the LCST, oligo(ethylene glycol)-substituted polyisocyanides(PICs) form soft hydrogels, composed of polymer bundles similar to biological gels, such as actin, fibrin and intermediate filaments. Here, we show that the LCST of PICs strongly depends linearly on the length of the ethylene glycol(EG) tails; every EG group increases the LCSTand thus the gelation temperature by nearly 30 ℃. Using a copolymerisation approach, we demonstrate that we can precisely tailor the gelation temperature between 10 ℃ and 60 ℃and, consequently, tune the mechanical properties of the PIC gels. | Paul H.J.
