1Constraining the stepwise migration of the eastern Tibetan Plateau margin by apatite fission track thermochronology显示文摘Granites sampled from Garzê-Litang thrust, Longmen Shan thrust, Garzê and Litang strike-slip faults in the eastern Tibetan Plateau have been analyzed with apatite fission track thermochronological method in this study. The measured fission track apparent ages, combined with the simulated annealing mod- eling of the thermal history, have been used to reconstruct the thermal evolutionary histories of the samples and interpret the active history of the thrusts and faults in these areas. Thermal history mod- eling shows that earlier tectonic cooling occurred in the Garzê-Litang thrust in Miocene (~20―16 Ma) whereas the later cooling occurred mainly in the Longmen Shan thrust since ~5 Ma. Our study sug- gests that the margin of eastern Tibetan Plateau was extended by stages: through strike-slip faults deformations and related thrusts, the upper crust formed the Garzê-Litang margin in the Miocene epoch and then moved to the Longmen Shan margin since ~5 Ma. 2Processes of initial collision and suturing between India and Asia显示文摘The initial collision between Indian and Asian continents marked the starting point for transformation of land-sea thermal contrast,uplift of the Tibet-Himalaya orogen,and climate change in Asia.In this paper,we review the published literatures from the past 30 years in order to draw consensus on the processes of initial collision and suturing that took place between the Indian and Asian plates.Following a comparison of the different methods that have been used to constrain the initial timing of collision,we propose that the tectono-sedimentary response in the peripheral foreland basin provides the most sensitive index of this event,and that paleomagnetism presents independent evidence as an alternative,reliable,and quantitative research method.In contrast to previous studies that have suggested collision between India and Asia started in Pakistan between ca.55 Ma and50 Ma and progressively closed eastwards,more recent researches have indicated that this major event first occurred in the center of the Yarlung Tsangpo suture zone(YTSZ) between ca.65 Ma and 63 Ma and then spreading both eastwards and westwards.While continental collision is a complicated process,including the processes of deformation,sedimentation,metamorphism,and magmatism,different researchers have tended to define the nature of this event based on their own understanding,an intuitive bias that has meant that its initial timing has remained controversial for decades.Here,we recommend the use of reconstructions of each geological event within the orogenic evolution sequence as this will allow interpretation of collision timing on the basis of multidisciplinary methods.DING Lin Satybaev MAKSATBEK CAI FuLong WANG HouQi SONG PeiPing JI WeiQiang XU Qiang ZHANG LiYun Qasim MUHAMMAD Baral UPENDRA 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,4:23
3Artemisinin, the Magic Drug Discovered from Traditional Chinese Medicine显示文摘Artemisinin and its derivatives represent the most important and influential class of drugs in the fight against malaria. Since the discovery of artemisinin in the early 1970s, the global community has made great strides in characterizing and understanding this remarkable phytochemical and its unique chemical and pharmacological properties. Today, even as artemisinin continues to serve as the foundation for antimalarial therapy, numerous challenges have surfaced in the continued application and development of this family of drugs. These challenges include the emergence of delayed treatment responses to artemisinins in malaria and efforts to apply artemisinins for non-malarial indications. Here, we provide an overview of the story of artemisinin in terms of its past, present, and future. 5Effect of hydrophilic silica nanoparticles on hydrate formation: Insight from the experimental study显示文摘Invasion of drilling fluid into natural gas hydrate deposits during drilling might damage the reservoir,induce hydrate dissociation and then cause wellbore instability and distortion of the data from well logging. Adding nanoparticles into drilling fluid is an effective method in reducing the invasion of drilling fluid and enhancing borehole stability. However, the addition of nanoparticles might also introduce hydrate formation risk in borehole because they can act as the 'seeds' for hydrate nucleation. This paper presents an experimental study of the effect of hydrophilic silica nanoparticle on gas hydrate formation in a dynamic methane/liquid-water system. In the experiment, the ultrapure water with and without1.0 wt%–6.0 wt% concentrations of silica nanoparticles, grain sizes of 20 and 50 nm, were pressurized by methane gas under varied conditions of temperature and pressure. The induction time, the gas consumption, and the average rate of gas consumption in the system were measured and compared to those in ultrapure water. The results show that a concentration of 4.0 wt% hydrophilic SiO_2 particles with a grain size of 50 nm has a relatively strong inhibition effect on hydrate formation when the initial experimental condition is 5.0 °C and 5.0 MPa. Compared to ultrapure water, the hydrophilic nano-SiO_2 fluid increases the induction time for hydrate formation by 194% and decreases the amount and average rate of hydrate formation by 10% and 17%, respectively. This inhibition effect may be attributed to the hydrophilicity,amount and aggregation of silica nanoparticle according to the results of water activity and zeta potential measurements. 7Gas-hydrate formation,agglomeration and inhibition in oil-based drilling fluids for deep-water drilling显示文摘One of the main challenges in deep-water drilling is gas-hydrate plugs,which make the drilling unsafe.Some oil-based drilling fluids(OBDF) that would be used for deep-water drilling in the South China Sea were tested to investigate the characteristics of gas-hydrate formation,agglomeration and inhibition by an experimental system under the temperature of 4 ?C and pressure of 20 MPa,which would be similar to the case of 2000 m water depth.The results validate the hydrate shell formation model and show that the water cut can greatly influence hydrate formation and agglomeration behaviors in the OBDF.The oleophobic effect enhanced by hydrate shell formation which weakens or destroys the interfacial films effect and the hydrophilic effect are the dominant agglomeration mechanism of hydrate particles.The formation of gas hydrates in OBDF is easier and quicker than in water-based drilling fluids in deep-water conditions of low temperature and high pressure because the former is a W/O dispersive emulsion which means much more gas-water interfaces and nucleation sites than the later.Higher ethylene glycol concentrations can inhibit the formation of gas hydrates and to some extent also act as an anti-agglomerant to inhibit hydrates agglomeration in the OBDF.Fulong Ning Ling Zhang YunzhongTu Guosheng Jiang Maoyong Shi 2010Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2010,19,3:8
8A Grid Interface Current Control Strategy for DC Microgrids显示文摘In this paper,a grid interface current control strategy is presented for a DC microgrid,which aims to reduce the disturbance from PV generation and the load variation to the main grid without a grid interface converter.The grid interface current is directly controlled by a battery DC-DC converter within the DC microgrid.Based on a comprehensive analysis of the battery DC-DC converter and interface current control,the control system has been mathematically modelled.This enabled two transfer functions to be derived that reflect the dynamic response of the inductor current to the duty cycle variation(inner loop),and the dynamic response of the grid interface current to the inductor current variation(outer loop).Experimental study has been done to assess the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.The experimental results indicate that the proposed control strategy has a good performance to control the grid interface current without an interface converter,regardless the variations of both PV and the load conditions.Muhannad Alshareef Zhengyu Lin Fulong Li Fei Wang 2021CES Transactions on Electrical Machines and Systems2021,5,3:8
9An Investigation of Optimal Machine Learning Methods for the Prediction of ROTI显示文摘The rate of the total electron content(TEC)change index(ROTI)can be regarded as an effective indicator of the level of ionospheric scintillation,in particular in low and high latitude regions.An accurate prediction of the ROTI is essential to reduce the impact of the ionospheric scintillation on earth observation systems,such as the global navigation satellite systems.However,it is difficult to predict the ROTI with high accuracy because of the complexity of the ionosphere.In this study,advanced machine learning methods have been investigated for ROTI prediction over a station at high-latitude in Canada.These methods are used to predict the ROTI in the next 5 minutes using the data derived from the past 15 minutes at the same location.Experimental results show that the method of the bidirectional gated recurrent unit network(BGRU)outperforms the other six approaches tested in the research.It is also confirmed that the RMSEs of the predicted ROTI using the BGRU method in all four seasons of 2017 are less than 0.05 TECU/min.It is demonstrated that the BGRU method exhibits a high level of robustness in dealing with abrupt solar activities.Fulong XU Zishen LI Kefei ZHANG Ningbo WANG Suqin WU Andong HU Lucas Holden 2020Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2020,3,2:7
10Independent Component Analysis and Graph Theoretical Analysis in Patients with Narcolepsy显示文摘The present study was aimed to evaluate restingstate functional connectivity and topological properties of brain networks in narcolepsy patients compared with healthy controls.Resting-state fMRI was performed in 26 adult narcolepsy patients and 30 matched healthy controls.MRI data were first analyzed by group independent component analysis,then a graph theoretical method was applied to evaluate the topological properties in the whole brain.Small-world network parameters and nodal topological properties were measured.Altered topological properties in brain areas between groups were selected as regionof-interest seeds,then the functional connectivity among these seeds was compared between groups.Partial correlation analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship between the severity of sleepiness and functional connectivity or topological properties in the narcolepsy patients.Twenty-one independent components out of 48 were obtained.Compared with healthy controls,the narcolepsy patients exhibited significantly decreased functional connectivity within the executive and salience networks,along with increased functional connectivity in the bilateral frontal lobes within the executive network.There were no differences in small-world network properties between patients and controls.The altered brain areas in nodal topological properties between groups were mainly in the inferior frontal cortex,basal ganglia,anterior cingulate,sensory cortex,supplementary motor cortex,and visual cortex.In the partial correlation analysis,nodal topological properties in the putamen,anterior cingulate,and sensory cortex as well as functional connectivity between these regions were correlated with the severity of sleepiness(sleep latency,REM sleep latency,and Epworth sleepiness score)among narcolepsy patients.Altered connectivity within the executive and salience networks was found in narcolepsy patients.Functional connection changes between the left frontal cortex and left caudate nucleus may be one of the parameters describing the severity of narcolepsy.Changes in the nodal topological properties in the left putamen and left posterior cingulate,changes in functional connectivity between the left supplementary motor area and right occipital as well as in functional connectivity between the left anterior cingulate gyrus and bilateral postcentral gyrus can be considered as a specific indicator for evaluating the severity of narcolepsy.Fulong Xiao Chao Lu Dianjiang Zhao Qihong Zou Liyue Xu Jing Li Jun Zhang Fang Han 2019Neuroscience Bulletin2019,35,4:7
11Total mesorectal excision with or without preoperative chemoradiotherapy for resectable mid/low rectal cancer: a long-term analysis of a prospective, single-center, randomized trial显示文摘Background:The preliminary results of our phase II randomized trial reported comparable functional sphincter pres-ervation rates and short-term survival outcomes between patients undergoing total mesorectal excision(TME)with or without preoperative concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT).We now report the long-term results after a median follow-up of 71 months.Methods:Between March 23,2008 and August 2,2012,192 patients with T3-T4 or node-positive,resectable,mid/low rectal adenocarcinoma were randomly assigned to receive TME with or without preoperative CCRT.The following endpoints were assessed:cumulative rates of local recurrence and distant metastasis,disease-free survival(DFS),and overall survival(OS).Results:The data of 184 eligible patients were analyzed:94 patients in the TME group and 90 patients in the CCRT+TME group.In the whole cohort,the 5-year DFS and OS rates were 84.8%and 85.1%,respectively.The 5-year DFS rates were 85.2%in the CCRT+TME group and 84.3%in the TME group(P=0.969),and the 5-year OS rates were 83.5%in the CCRT+TME group and 86.5%in the TME group(P=0.719).The 5-year cumulative rates of local recur-rence were 6.3%and 5.0%(P=0.681),and the 5-year cumulative rates of distant metastasis were 15.0%and 15.7%(P=0.881)in the CCRT+TME and TME groups,respectively.No significant improvements in 5-year DFS and OS were observed with CCRT by subgroup analyses.Conclusions:Both treatment strategies yielded similar long-term outcomes.A selective policy towards preoperative CCRT is thus recommended for rectal cancer patients if high-quality TME surgery and enhanced chemotherapy can be performed.Fulong Wang Wenhua Fan Jianhong Peng Zhenhai Lu Zhizhong Pan Liren Li Yuanhong Gao Hui Li Gong Chen Xiaojun Wu Peirong Ding Zhifan Zeng Desen Wan 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:6

15Stable isotopes of modern herbivore tooth enamel in the Tibetan Plateau: Implications for paleoelevation reconstructions显示文摘Fossil tooth enamel from herbivores is considered one of the best proxies for paleoclimate and paleoelevation reconstructions, due to its low susceptibility to diagenetic alteration. A synthesis of oxygen and carbon isotope analyses of modern tooth enamel from herbivores such as Tibetan yaks, asses and antelopes is assessed. The average δ 13C(PDB) value of herbivore tooth enamel in the Lhasa and south Qiangtang terrains is-11.3‰± 1.1‰, whereas in the north Qiangtang and Hoh Xil terrains value is-10.2‰± 1.4‰ consistent with the current C3-dominant ecotype in the Tibetan Plateau. In addition, the average δ18O(PDB) values from tooth enamel show a northward systematic increase from-11.8‰± 3.4‰ in the Gyirong Basin, to-11.1‰± 1.1‰ in the Lhasa and southern Qiangtang terrains, and then to-9.0‰± 1.1‰ in the northern Qiangtang and the Hoh Xil areas, similar to those of the local river water and precipitation variation trends. It is suggested that δ 18O(PDB) values of tooth enamel should not be used directly to evaluate the paleo-elevation of the Tibetan Plateau, because oxygen isotopic composition from tooth enamel is a com-bination of drinking water (precipitation-and river-sourced) and diet (plant-sourced). 17Relationships of surface oxygen vacancies with photoluminescence and photocatalytic performance of ZnO nanoparticles显示文摘The ZnO nanoparticles are prepared by a precipitation process, and also are char- acterized by means of the modern testing techniques such as XPS, ESR, SPS and PL. The ac- tivity of the as-prepared ZnO is evaluated in the photocatalytic oxidation of gas phase n-C7H16. The relationships of surface oxygen vacancies (SOV) with photoluminescence (PL) and photo- catalytic performance are discussed in details. The results show that the smaller the particle size, the larger the SOV content, the stronger the PL signal, the higher the photocatalytic activity, in- dicating that the SOV, PL and photocatalytic activity have inherent relationships. This was be- cause of the reasons that the PL signal is attributed to the free and binding excitons resulting from the SOV, while the SOV is favorable for a photocatalytic oxidation reaction since the SOV can easily capture the photoinduced electrons, and the captured electrons had strong interac- tions with the adsorbed oxygen. 18Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteremia increases the permeability of the blood-brain barrier via the Mfsd2a/Caveolin-1 mediated transcytosis pathway显示文摘Bacteremia induced by periodontal infection is an important factor for periodontitis to threaten general health. P. gingivalis DNA/virulence factors have been found in the brain tissues from patients with Alzheimer’s disease(AD). The blood-brain barrier(BBB) is essential for keeping toxic substances from entering brain tissues. However, the effect of P. gingivalis bacteremia on BBB permeability and its underlying mechanism remains unclear. In the present study, rats were injected by tail vein with P. gingivalis three times a week for eight weeks to induce bacteremia. An in vitro BBB model infected with P. gingivalis was also established. We found that the infiltration of Evans blue dye and Albumin protein deposition in the rat brain tissues were increased in the rat brain tissues with P. gingivalis bacteremia and P. gingivalis could pass through the in vitro BBB model. Caveolae were detected after P. gingivalis infection in BMECs both in vivo and in vitro. Caveolin-1(Cav-1) expression was enhanced after P. gingivalis infection.Downregulation of Cav-1 rescued P. gingivalis-enhanced BMECs permeability. We further found P. gingivalis-gingipain could be colocalized with Cav-1 and the strong hydrogen bonding between Cav-1 and arg-specific-gingipain(RgpA) were detected.Moreover, P. gingivalis significantly inhibited the major facilitator superfamily domain containing 2a(Mfsd2a) expression. Mfsd2a overexpression reversed P. gingivalis-increased BMECs permeability and Cav-1 expression. 19A novel random phase-shifting digital holographic microscopy method显示文摘This paper proposes a new method that reconstructs the information of specimen by using random phase shift step in digital holographic microscopy (DHM). The principles of the method are described and discussed in detail. In practical experiment, because the phase shifter is neither perfectly linear nor calibrated, digital holograms with inaccurate phase shift step are recorded by the charge-coupled device (CCD). The phase could be accurately reconstructed from the recorded digital holograms by using the random phase-shifting algorithm, which makes up for reconstructed phase error caused by ordinary phase-shifting algorithm. The phase aberration compensation is also discussed. In order to verify the flexibility of the proposed method, numerical simulation of random phase-shifting DHM was carried out. 20Large-Scale Test Model of the Progressive Deformation and Failure of Cracked Soil Slopes显示文摘A large-scale test bed(LWH=6 m×3 m×2.8 m)instrumented with various sensors is used to examine the effects of rainfall infiltration and evaporation on the deformation and failure of cracked soil slopes,taking the Anhui area along the Yangtze River as a field example.The results indicate that(1)during rainfall,the soil around the shallow shrinkage fissures attains transient saturation,and the attendant decrease of matric suction is the primary cause of the shallow slope failure;(2)slope deformation continues during post-rainfall evaporation;(3)if a period of evaporation is followed by heavy rainfall,soil creep is concentrated near the deepest cracks,and two zones of steep gradients in pore pressure form at the crest and toe of the slope.Finally,a saturated zone forms near each crack base and gradually enlarges,eventually forming a continuous saturated layer that induces the slope instability or failure.Zhi Zhou Jiaming Zhang Fulong Ning Yi Luo Lily Chong Kuangbiao Sun 2020Journal of Earth Science2020,31,6:3
