1Decreased levels of plasma adiponectin associated with increased risk of colorectal cancer显示文摘AIM:To investigate the association between adiponectin levels and risk of colorectal adenoma and cancer (early and advanced).METHODS: A cross-sectional study in a cohort of hospital-based patients was conducted between January 2004 and March 2006 at Yamagata University Hospital. Male subjects, who had colorectal tumors detected by endoscopic examination, were enrolled according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Based on the T factor of the TNM system, intraepithelial carcinoma and submucosally invasive carcinoma were def ined as early cancer, and invasion into the muscularis propria or deeper was defined as advanced cancer. The plasma levels of glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high sensitivity C-reactive protein, insulin like growth factor (IGF)-1, IGF binding protein-3, adiponectin, leptin, and resistin were measured. Each factor level was designated low or high, and the risk of adenoma or cancer was estimated by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis.RESULTS: We enrolled 124 male subjects (47 with adenoma, 34 with early cancer, 17 with advanced cancer, and 26 without tumors as controls). In patients with adenoma, high triglyceride and low adiponectin were associated with a significant increase in the odds ratio (OR) by univariate analysis. Only a low adiponectin level was related to increased adenoma risk, with an adjusted OR for low level (<11 μg/mL) to high (≥11 μg/mL) of 5.762 (95% confidence interval (CI):1.683-19.739, P=0.005). In the patients with early cancer, high body mass index, high triglyceride, and low adiponectin were associated with a significant increase in OR in univariate analysis. Imultivariate analysis, only low adiponectin was significantly associated with early cancer, with an adjusted OR of 4.495 (95% CI:1.090-18.528, P=0.038). However, in patients with advanced cancer, low adiponectin was not recognized as a significant risk factor for advanced cancer.CONCLUSION: A decreased level of adiponectin is strongly associated with an increased risk of colorectal adenoma and early cancer. 3Hierarchical structures hydrogel evaporator and superhydrophilic water collect device for efficient solar steam evaporation显示文摘Efficient light absorption and trapping are of vital importance for the solar water evaporation by hydrogel-based photothermal conversion materials.Conventional strategies are focused on the development of the composition and structure of the hydrogers internal network.In our point of view,the importance of the surface structure of hydrogel has usually been underestimated or ignored.Here inspired by the excellent absorbance and water transportation ability of biological surface structure,the hierarchical structured hydrogel evaporators(HSEs)increased the light absorption,trapping,water transportation and water-air interface,which is the beneficial photothermal conversion and water evaporation.The HSEs showed a rapid evaporation rate of 1.77 kg·m^(-2)·h^(-1)at about 92%energy efficiency under one sun(1 kW·m^(-2)).Furthermore,the superhydrophilic window device was used in this work to collect the condensed water,which avoids the light-blocking caused by the water mist formed by the small droplets and the problem of the droplets stick on the device dropping back to the bulk water.Integrated with the excellent photothermal conversion hydrogel and superhydrophilic window equipment,this work provides efficient evaporation and desalination of hydrogel-based solar evaporators in practical large-scale applications.Wenwei Lei Sovann Khan Lie Chen Norihiro Suzuki Chiaki Terashima Kesong Liu Akira Fujishima Mingjie Liu 2021Nano Research2021,14,4:4
4IgG4-unrelated type 1 autoimmune pancreatitis显示文摘A 50-year-old male was referred to our hospital for the evaluation of hyperproteinemia.Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography revealed high fluorodeoxyglucose uptake in the pancreas,bilateral lacrimal glands,submandibular glands,parotid glands,bilateral pulmonary hilar lymph nodes,and kidneys.Laboratory data showed an elevation of hepatobiliary enzymes,renal dysfunction,and remarkably high immunoglobulin(Ig) G levels,without elevated serum IgG4.Abdominal computed tomography revealed swelling of the pancreatic head and bilateral kidneys.Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography showed an irregular narrowing of the main pancreatic duct in the pancreatic head and stricture of the lower common bile duct.Histological examination by endoscopic ultrasonography-guided fine-needle aspiration revealed findings of lymphoplasmacytic sclerosing pancreatitis without IgG4-positive plasma cells.Abnormal laboratory values and the swelling of several organs were improved by the treatment with steroids.The patient was diagnosed as having type 1 autoimmune pancreatitis(AIP) based on the International Consensus Diagnostic Criteria.Therefore,we encountered a case of compatible type 1 AIP without elevated levels of serum IgG4 or IgG4-positive plasma cells.This case suggests that AIP phenotypes are not always associated with IgG4.Eriko Nakano Atsushi Kanno Atsushi Masamune Naoki Yoshida Seiji Hongo Shin Miura Tetsuya Takikawa Shin Hamada Kiyoshi Kume Kazuhiro Kikuta Morihisa Hirota Keisuke Nakayama Fumiyoshi Fujishima Tooru Shimosegawa 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,33:3
