Infrared image segmentation method based on 2D histogram shape modification and optimal objective function显示文摘In the methods of image thresholding segmentation, such methods based on two-dimensional(2D) histogram and optimal objective functions are important. However, when they are used for infrared image segmentation, they are weak in suppressing background noises and worse in segmenting targets with non-uniform gray level. The concept of 2D histogram shape modification is proposed, which is realized by target information prior restraint after enhancing target information using plateau histogram equalization. The formula of 2D minimum Renyi entropy is deduced for image segmentation, then the shape-modified 2D histogram is combined with four optimal objective functions(i.e.,maximum between-class variance, maximum entropy, maximum correlation and minimum Renyi entropy) respectively for the application of infrared image segmentation.Simultaneously,F-measure is introduced to evaluate the segmentation effects objectively. The experimental results show that F-measure is an effective evaluation index for image segmentation since its value is fully consistent with the subjective evaluation, and after 2D histogram shape modification, the methods of optimal objective functions can overcome their original forms' deficiency and their segmentation effects are more or less improvements, where the best one is the maximum entropy method based on 2D histogram shape modification. | Songtao Liu Donghua Gao Fuliang Yin | 2013 | Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2013,24,3: | 8
Butterfly distribution of Earth's radiation belt relativistic electrons induced by dayside chorus显示文摘Previous theoretical studies have shown that dayside chorus can produce butterfly distribution of energetic electrons in the Earth's radiation belts by preferentially accelerating medium pitch angle electrons, but this requires the further confirmation from highresolution satellite observation. Here, we report correlated Van Allen Probes data on wave and particle during the 11-13 April,2014 geomagnetic storm. We find that a butterfly pitch angle distribution of relativistic electrons is formed around the location L = 4.52, corresponding to the presence of enhanced dayside chorus. Using a Gaussian distribution fit to the observed chorus spectra, we calculate the bounce-averaged diffusion rates and solve two-dimensional Fokker-Planck equation. Numerical results demonstrate that acceleration by dayside chorus can yield the electron flux evolution both in the energy and butterfly pitch angle distribution comparable to the observation, providing a further evidence for the formation of butterfly distribution of relativistic electrons driven by very low frequency(VLF) plasma waves. | jin yuyue yang chang he yihua liu si zhou qinghua xiao fuliang | 2018 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2018,61,2: | 5
Role of MR-DWI and MR-PWI in the radiotherapy of implanted pulmonary VX-2 carcinoma in rabbits显示文摘Objective: To detect the activity of tumor cells and tumor blood flow before and after the radiotherapy of implanted pulmonary VX-2 carcinoma in rabbit models by using magnetic resonance diffusion-weighted imaging(MR-DWI) and magnetic resonance perfusion weighted imaging(MR-PWI), and to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the radiotherapy based on the changes in the MR-DWI and MR-PWI parameters at different treatment stages. Methods: A total of 56 rabbit models with implanted pulmonary VX-2 carcinoma were established, and then equally divided into treatment group and control group. MR-DWI and MR-PWI were separately performed using a Philips Acheiva 1.5T MRI machine(Philips, Netherland). MRI image processing was performed using special perfusion software and the WORKSPACE advanced workstation for MRI. MRDWI was applied for the observation of tumor signals and the measurement of apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC) values; whereas MR-PWI was used for the measurement of wash in rate(WIR), wash out rate(WOR), and maximum enhancement rate(MER). The radiation treatment was performed using Siemens PRIMUS linear accelerator. In the treatment group, the radiotherapy was performed 21 days later on a once weekly dosage of 1,000 c Gy to yield a total dosage of 5,000 c Gy.Results: The ADC parameters in the region of interest on DWI were as follows: on the treatment day for the implanted pulmonary VX-2 carcinoma, the t values at the center and the edge of the lesions were 1.352 and 1.461 in the treatment group and control group(P>0.05). During weeks 0-1 after treatment, the t values at the center and the edge of the lesions were 1.336 and 1.137(P>0.05). During weeks 1-2, the t values were 1.731 and 1.736(P<0.05). During weeks 2-3, the t values were 1.742 and 1.749(P<0.05). During weeks 3-4, the t values were 2.050 and 2.127(P<0.05). During weeks 4-5, the t values were 2.764 and 2.985(P<0.05). The ADC values in the treatment group were significantly higher than in the control group. After the radiotherapy(5,000 c Gy), the tumors remarkably shrank, along with low signal on DWI, decreased signal on ADC map, and remarkably increased ADC values. As shown on PWI, on the treatment day for the implanted pulmonary VX-2 carcinoma, the t values of the WIR, WOR, and MER at the center of the lesions were 1.05, 1.31, and 1.33 in the treatment group and control group(P>0.05); in addition, the t values of the WIR, WOR, and MER at the edge of the lesions were 1.35, 1.07, and 1.51(P>0.05). During weeks 0-1 after treatment, the t values of the WIR, WOR, and MER at the center of the lesions were 1.821, 1.856, and 1.931(P<0.05); in addition, the t values of the WIR, WOR, and MER at the edge of the lesions were 1.799, 2.016, and 2.137(P<0.05). During weeks 1-1 after treatment, the t values of the WIR, WOR, and MER at the center of the lesions were 2.574, 2.156, and 2.059(P<0.05) and the t values of the WIR, WOR, and MER at the edge of the lesions were 1.869, 2.058, and 2.057(P<0.05). During weeks 2-3 after treatment, the t values of the WIR, WOR, and MER at the center of the lesions were 2.461, 2.098, and 2.739(P<0.05) and the t values of the WIR, WOR, and MER at the edge of the lesions were 2.951, 2.625, and 2.154(P<0.05). During weeks 3-4 after treatment, the t values of the WIR, WOR, and MER at the center of the lesions were 2.584, 2.107, and 2.869(P<0.05) and the t values of the WIR, WOR, and MER at the edge of the lesions were 2.057, 2.637, and 2.951(P<0.05). During weeks 4-5 after treatment, the t values of the WIR, WOR, and MER at the center of the lesions were 2.894, 2.827, and 3.285(P<0.05) and the t values of the WIR, WOR, andMER at the edge of the lesions were 3.45, 3.246, and 3.614(P<0.05). After the radiotherapy(500 c Gy), the tumors shrank on the T1 WI, WIR, WOR, and MER; meanwhile, the PWI parameter gradually decreased and reached its minimum value. Conclusions: MR-DWI and MR-PWI can accurately and directly reflect the inactivation of tumor cells and the tumor hemodynamics in rabbit models with implanted pulmonary VX-2 carcinoma, and thus provide theoretical evidences for judging the clinical effectiveness of radiotherapy for the squamous cell carcinoma of the lung. | Qiang Zhang Mingmin Zhang Zhaoxin Liu Baoqi Shi Fuliang Qi Haijiang Wang Yuan Lv Haijiao Jin Weijing Zhang | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,5: | 5
The influence of various frequency chorus waves on electron dynamics in radiation belts显示文摘Non-adiabatic behaviour induced by the chorus-electron interaction is an important contributor to the radiation belt dynamics, and largely relies on wave frequency distribution.During the geomagnetic storm on August 2,2016,upper-band,lower-band and extremely low frequency(ELF)chorus waves were simultaneously observed within one orbit period of the Van Allen Probe B.Numerical simulations are performed to investigate the electron evolution by the observed chorus with different frequencies. The results show that various frequency chorus waves have different effects on electron dynamics. For chorus in the range f≈0.3 fce–0.7 fce, energy diffusion is the dominant process in electron evolutions. For chorus in the range 0.1 fce≤f≤0.25 fce,the pitch angle diffusion tends to be comparable to energy diffusion for Ek>0.5 MeV.For ELF chorus below 0.1 fce,the pitch angle diffusion rate is much above the energy diffusion rate, leading to potential scattering losses. | HE JiaBei JIN Yu Yue XIAO FuLiang HE ZhaoGuo YANG Chang XIE YanQiong HE Qian WANG ChengZhi SHANG XiongJun LIU Si ZHOU QingHua ZHANG Sai | 2021 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,4: | 3
Generation of simultaneous H^(+)and He^(+)band EMIC waves in the nightside radiation belt显示文摘Previous studies have shown that EMIC waves occur preferentially in the afternoon sector of the magnetosphere. Here we report obliquely propagating H^(+)and He^(+)band EMIC waves detected by Van Allen Probe B in the region of MLT=22.7–23.5 during the June 20,2013 substorm.Using the correlated energetic proton data,we present continuous calculations on EMIC wave growth rates along the inward orbit in the region L=5.5–4.2.The modeled growth rate shows remarkable agreement with the observed double band EMIC waves in both temporal and spatial evolutions. The current results demonstrate that H^(+)and He^(+)band EMIC waves can be simultaneously excited in the midnight sector under appropriate conditions. | GUAN ChunYi SHANG XiongJun XIE YanQiong YANG Chang ZHANG Sai LIU Si XIAO FuLiang | 2020 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,11: | 3
Cell viability and dopamine secretion of 6-hydroxydopamine-treated PC12 cells co-cultured with bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells显示文摘In the present study, PC12 cells induced by 6-hydroxydopamine as a model of Parkinson's Disease, were used to investigate the protective effects of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells against 6-hydroxydopamine-induced neurotoxicity and to verify whether the mechanism of action relates to abnormal α-synuclein accumulation in cells. Results showed that co-culture with bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells enhanced PC12 cell viability and dopamine secretion in a cell dose-dependent manner. MitoLight staining was used to confirm that PC12 cells co-cultured with bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells demonstrate reduced levels of cell apoptosis. Immunocytochemistry and western blot analysis found the quantity of α-synuclein accumulation was significantly reduced in PC12 cell and bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell co-cultures. These results indicate that bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells can attenuate 6-hydroxydopamine-induced cytotoxicity by reducing abnormal α-synuclein accumulation in PC12 cells. | Yue Tang Yongchun Cui Fuliang Luo Xiaopeng Liu Xiaojuan Wang Aili Wu Junwei Zhao Zhong Tian Like Wu | 2012 | Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,14: | 3
Upward propagation of lightning-generated whistler waves into the radiation belts显示文摘Lightning-generated whistler(LGW) waves which induce energetic electron precipitation provide an important coupling between the ionosphere and radiation belts. Using the ray-tracing technique, we examine the propagation behaviour of LGW waves and show that they can travel upward into the radiation belts during higher geomagnetic activities due to the plasmapause inward compression, particularly in cases of lower wave frequencies, lower wave normal angles and azimuthal angles. Both perpendicular and parallel group velocities of LGW waves remain in relatively small values inside the plasmasphere but change rapidly to high values outside the plasmasphere. The launching latitude increases with increasing LGW wave normal angle. These results here further reveal a detailed picture on how LGW waves escape out of the plasmasphere and onto the radiation belts. | GUO MingYue ZHOU QingHua XIAO FuLiang LIU Si HE YiHua YANG Chang | 2020 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,2: | 3
Magnetospheric chorus wave instability induced by relativistic Kappa-type distributions显示文摘We study the field-aligned propagating magnetospheric chorus wave instability using a fully relativistic wave growth formula, the previously developed relativistic Kappa-type(KT) distribution and the regular Kappa distribution of energetic electrons. We demonstrate that the peak growth rate using the nonrelativistic Kappa simulation is higher than that using either the relativistic KT or the Kappa simulation at/above 100 keV, because the significant relativistic effect yields a reduction in the relativistic anisotropy. The relativistic anisotropy Arel basically decreases as the thermal parameter θ2 increases, allowing the peak growth by relativistic KT or Kappa distribution to stay at the lower frequency region. The growth rates tend to increase with the loss-cone parameter l because the overall anisotropy increases. Moreover, at high energy ~1.0 MeV, both the growth rate and the upper cutoff frequency become smaller as l increases for the relativistic KT calculation because the significant relativistic effect reduces both the resonant anisotropy and the number of the hot electrons, which is in contrast to the relativistic and nonrelativistic Kappa distribution calculations because the less relativistic or non-relativistic effect enhances the resonant anisotropy as l increases. The above results can be applied to the whistler-mode wave instability in the outer radiation belts of the Earth, the Jovian inner magnetosphere and other astrophysical plasmas where relativistic electrons often exist. | YANG QiWu YANG Chang HE YiHua LIU Si ZHOU QingHua XIAO FuLiang | 2016 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2016,59,11: | 2
Spheroidization process in large-deformed high-carbon steel显示文摘In this study, the spheroidization process of large-deformed steel under various conditions was researched. Steel with a high carbon content(1.0% C)was first treated thermomechanically using multipass rolling. Then it underwent spheroidization treatments at different heating temperatures, using various heating times and cooling rates.Spheroidization processes with a lower heating temperature, shorter heating time,or faster cooling rate than those of the traditional process all showed good results, indicating that the spheroidization process was promoted significantly by the large deformation process.Grain refinement and fragmentation of cementite, along with the large deformation process, promoted this spheroidization process. | LIAN Fuliang LIU Yongning | 2014 | Baosteel Technical Research2014,8,1: | 2
Transcriptional activation of glucose transporter 1 in orthodontic tooth movement-associated mechanical response显示文摘The interplay between mechanoresponses and a broad range of fundamental biological processes, such as cell cycle progression, growth and differentiation, has been extensively investigated. However, metabolic regulation in mechanobiology remains largely unexplored. Here, we identified glucose transporter 1(GLUT1)—the primary glucose transporter in various cells—as a novel mechanosensitive gene in orthodontic tooth movement(OTM). Using an in vivo rat OTM model, we demonstrated the specific induction of Glut1 proteins on the compressive side of a physically strained periodontal ligament. This transcriptional activation could be recapitulated in in vitro cultured human periodontal ligament cells(PDLCs), showing a time-and dose-dependent mechanoresponse. Importantly, application of GLUT1 specific inhibitor WZB117 greatly suppressed the efficiency of orthodontic tooth movement in a mouse OTM model, and this reduction was associated with a decline in osteoclastic activities. A mechanistic study suggested that GLUT1 inhibition affected the receptor activator for nuclear factor-κ B Ligand(RANKL)/osteoprotegerin(OPG)system by impairing compressive force-mediated RANKL upregulation. Consistently, pretreatment of PDLCs with WZB117 severely impeded the osteoclastic differentiation of co-cultured RAW264.7 cells. Further biochemical analysis indicated mutual regulation between GLUT1 and the MEK/ERK cascade to relay potential communication between glucose uptake and mechanical stress response. Together, these cross-species experiments revealed the transcriptional activation of GLUT1 as a novel and conserved linkage between metabolism and bone remodelling. | Yu Wang Qian Li Fuliang Liu Shanshan Jin Yimei Zhang Ting Zhang Yunyan Zhu Yanheng Zhou | 2018 | International Journal of Oral Science2018,10,4: | 1

Correlated observations linking loss of energetic protons to EMIC waves显示文摘Electromagnetic ion cyclotron(EMIC)emission is an efficient mechanism for scattering loss of energetic protons. Here,we report an event that provides both in-situ observation of energetic proton differential fluxes in the inner magnetosphere and precipitation of protons at ionospheric altitudes.During the 7-8 September 2015 geomagnetic storm the Van Allen Probes observed strong EMIC waves around L=5 and a distinct decrement in fluxes of tens of keV protons around pitch angles 0°-45°.Meanwhile,precipitating protons at ionospheric altitudes were found to significantly enhanced(by several orders of magnitude),measured by NOAA 18 and 19 when they magnetically linked to the Van Allen Probe-A.By solving the Fokker-Planck diffusion equation,we show that EMIC waves can efficiently produce loss of energetic protons within about 2 h in the pitch angle range of~0°-45°,comparable to the satellite observations. | YANG Chang WANG ZongQiang XIAO FuLiang HE ZhaoGuo XIE YanQiong ZHANG Sai HE YiHua LIU Si ZHOU QingHua | 2022 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,1: | 0
A machine-learning-based electron density (MLED) model in the inner magnetosphere显示文摘Plasma density is an important factor in determining wave-particle interactions in the magnetosphere. We develop a machine-learning-based electron density(MLED)model in the inner magnetosphere using electron density data from Van Allen Probes between September 25,2012 and August 30,2019.This MLED model is a physics-based nonlinear network that employs fundamental physical principles to describe variations of electron density. It predicts the plasmapause location under different geomagnetic conditions, and models separately the electron densities of the plasmasphere and of the trough. We train the model using gradient descent and backpropagation algorithms, which are widely used to deal effectively with nonlinear relationships among physical quantities in space plasma environments. The model gives explicit expressions with few parameters and describes the associations of electron density with geomagnetic activity, solar cycle, and seasonal effects.Under various geomagnetic conditions, the electron densities calculated by this model agree well with empirical observations and provide a good description of plasmapause movement. This MLED model, which can be easily incorporated into previously developed radiation belt models, promises to be very helpful in modeling and improving forecasting of radiation belt electron dynamics. | QingHua Zhou YunXiang Chen FuLiang Xiao Sai Zhang Si Liu Chang Yang YiHua He ZhongLei Gao | 2022 | Earth and Planetary Physics2022,6,4: | 0
In-situ cation-inserted MnO_(2) with selective accelerated intercalation of individual H^(+) or Zn^(2+) ions in aqueous zinc ion batteries显示文摘The recognized energy storage mechanism of neutral aqueous zinc-manganese batteries is the co-insertion/extrusion of H^(+) and Zn^(2+) ions. However, modulating the kinetics of a single H^(+) or Zn^(2+) ion is scarce, which can provide meaningful insights into the energy storage mechanism of Zn ion batteries.Herein,a distinctive doubly electric field in-situ induced cationic anchoring of two-dimensional layered MnO_(2) is successfully constructed to modulate the insertion/extrusion of a single H^(+) or Zn^(2+) ion.As a result, regulating the intercalation of different metal ions can precisely achieve the accelerated induction for the individual H^(+) or Zn^(2+) ions intercalation/deintercalation.Moreover,the introduction of metal ions stabilizes the lattice distortion and alleviates the irreparable structural collapse, leading to an increase in the H^(+)/Zn^(2+) storage sites, efficiently diminishing the stagnation of the ordered structure and creating the more open channels, which is conducive to facilitating the diffusion of ions. This work delivers some innovative insights into pre-embedding strategies, and also serves as a precious reference for the cathode development of advanced aqueous batteries. | Lijin Yan Baibai Liu Jiangyu Hao Yuying Han Chong Zhu Fuliang Liu Xuefeng Zou Yang Zhou Bin Xiang | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,7: | 0

Icariin contributes to healing skull defects in rabbit models显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy of icariin for healing skull defects in rabbit models.METHODS: Thirty-six 3-month-old female New Zealand white rabbits, weighing 1.8-2.0 kg each, were randomly divided into either the control or experimental group. Skull defect models were constructed in both groups, with the experimental group receiving oral icariin afterwards. At 4, 8 and 12 postoperative weeks, the rabbits were euthanized, and X-rays and samples were taken. Tissue sections were stained using hematoxylin and eosin, followed by additional processing using histological and bone metrological methods for observing the rate and quality of the bone formation.RESULTS: Histologically, additional mature lamellar bone formed in the defect area in the experimental group compared with that of the control group.Bone metrological methods showed that the bone mass, trabecular bone width and number of osteoblasts in the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P < 0.01).The number of osteoclasts did not significantly differ between the two groups(P > 0.05).CONCLUSION: Icariin increased the bone mass and improved the condition of the defect area in the rabbit skulls. | HAO Fuliang MEI Shuang LIU Xiao LIU Yang ZHANG Xudog DONG Fusheng | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,3: | 0
