A new-generation sand and dust storm forecasting system GRAPES_CUACE/Dust:Model development, verification and numerical simulation显示文摘Based on the new-generation Global/Regional Assimilation and PrEdiction System(GRAPES) developed by the Numerical Prediction Research Center,China Meteorological Administration and the Chinese Unified Atmospheric Chemistry Environment for Dust Atmospheric Chemistry Module(CUACE/Dust) developed by the Centre for Atmosphere Watch and Services(CAWAS) of the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences(CAMS) ,the China sand and dust storm forecasting system GRAPES /CUACE-Dust model has been established. The latest data of land desertification, optical properties of China sand and dust aerosols, daily soil moisture and snow cover over China main land was introduced in this system. The system showed good performance in mass conservation. The comparisons of real-time prediction outputs with surface observations and aerosol indices derived from TOMS ozone spectrophotometers(TOMS AI) indicate that the model can predict the outbreak, development, transport and depletion processes of sand and dust storms accurately over China and the East Asian region. The system makes real-time quantitative prediction of a series of elements including sand and dust injection from the surface, dry and wet deposition amount, dust concentration and optical depth. We selected 7 major dust storms occurring in April 2006 and analyzed the spatiotemporal distribution patterns of dust emission, dry and wet deposition and atmospheric load in this paper. The results showed that about 225 million tons of dust were emitted into the atmosphere from the deserts over east Asia in that month. The 3 major sand and dust sources were just as the following:The deserts in northern Inner Mongolia and the boundary area around China-Mongolia were the first dust sources with a contribution of 153 million tons accounting for 68%of the total emission. The Taklimakan Desert ranked second and contributed approximately 40 million tons accounting for 17%of the dust emission. The Onqin Daga Sandland emitted about 15 million tons or 7%of the total emission. The contributions from other deserts, sandy lands and abandoned farmlands were about only 8%of the total dust emission. The total deposition over the East Asian region in April 2006 was 136 million tons. The regional distribution of dust deposition showed that the 3 major sources were also the major deposition areas. The deposition amount in the 3 major sources accounted for 78%of the total with about 135 million tons falling back to the source regions. The secondary deposition area was the China mainland downriver, where more than 2 million tons deposited accounting for 16%of the total deposition. The deposition over the region east of 120°E including China off-shore regions,Korean Peninsula,Japan and the West Pacific took only 6%of the total deposition, which was about 850000 tons. The analysis on dry and wet deposition showed that dry deposition dominated in the process, accounting for 94%of the total sand and dust depositions in the period and wet deposition only was around for 6%,since it was generally dry with less rainfall over northern China in April. | WANG Hong GONG ShanLing ZHANG HongLiang CHEN Yong SHEN XueShun CHEN DeHui XUE JiShan SHEN YuanFang WU XiangJun JIN ZhiYan | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,7: | 10
Cobalt and nitrogen codoped porous carbon as superior bifunctional electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction and hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline medium显示文摘Cobalt and nitrogen codoped carbon materials(Co-N-C) were fabricated by pyrolysis of the mixture of poly(4-vinylpyridine) and cobalt chloride using SiO_2 nanoparticles as hard template, which were the first transition metal/nitrogen-codoped carbon bifunctional electrocatalyst derived from noncarbonizable polymer for ORR and HER. The as-made Co-N-C possessed hierarchical pore structure and high specific surface area, achieving excellent electrocatalytic performances for ORR and HER. Its ORR catalytic performances were comparable to those of Pt/C catalyst and its HER catalytic performances were superior to those of most doped carbon catalysts in KOH electrolyte. Moreover, its bifunctional electrocatalytic performances for ORR and HER were better than those of most bifunctional doped carbon catalysts in alkaline electrolyte. | Xiaoxia Chen Xiangjun Zhen Hongyu Gong Le Li Jianwei Xiao Zhi Xu Deyue Yan Guyu Xiao Ruizhi Yang | 2019 | Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,3: | 2
Antifouling mechanism of natural product-based coatings investigated by digital holographic microscopy显示文摘Using natural product-based antifouling coatings has proven to be an effective strategy to combat biofouling. However, their antifouling mechanisms are still unclear. In this study, the antifouling mechanism of natural product-based coatings consisting of bio-sourced poly(lactic acid)-based polyurethane and ecofriendly antifoulant(butenolide)derived from marine bacteria was revealed by observing 3D bacterial motions utilizing a 3D tracking technique-digital holographic microscopy(DHM).As butenolide content increases, the density of planktonic marine bacteria(Pseudomonas sp.)near the surface decreases and thus leads to a reduced adhesion, indicating that butenolide elicits the adaptive response of Pseudomonas sp.to escape from the surface.Meanwhile, among these remained cells,an increased percentage is found to undergo subdiffusive motions compared with the case of smaller dose of butenolide.Further experiments show that butenolide can accelerate their swimming velocity and reduce flick frequency.Antibacterial assay confirms that butenolide-based coating shows high efficacy of antifouling performance against Pseudomonas sp.but without killing them like 4,5-dichloro-2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one(DCOIT). | Jiansen Pan Qingmei Peng Guoliang Zhang Qingyi Xie Xiangjun Gong Pei-Yuan Qian Chunfeng Ma Guangzhao Zhang | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,25: | 2

Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor drugs combined with laser photocoagulation maintain retinal ganglion cell integrity in patients with diabetic macular edema: study protocol for a prospective, non-randomized, controlled clinical trial显示文摘The integrity of retinal ganglion cells is tightly associated with diabetic macular degeneration that leads to damage and death of retinal ganglion cells, affecting vision. The major clinical treatments for diabetic macular edema are anti-vascular endothelial growth factor drugs and laser photocoagulation. However, although the macular thickness can be normalized with each of these two therapies used alone, the vision does not improve in many patients. This might result from the incomplete recovery of retinal ganglion cell injury. Therefore,a prospective,non-randomized,controlled clinical trial was designed to investigate the effect of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor drugs combined with laser photocoagulation on the integrity of retinal ganglion cells in patients with diabetic macular edema and its relationship with vision recovery. In this trial,150 patients with diabetic macular edema will be equally divided into three groups according to therapeutic methods, followed by treatment with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor drugs, laser photocoagulation therapy, and their combination. All patients will be followed up for 12 months. The primary outcome measure is retinal ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer thickness at 12 months after treatment. The secondary outcome measures include retinal ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer thickness before and 1,3,6,and 9 months after treatment, retinal nerve fiber layer thickness,best-corrected visual acuity, macular area thickness, and choroidal thickness before and 1,3,6,9,and 12 months after treatment.Safety measure is the incidence of adverse events at 1,3,6,9,and 12 months after treatment. The study protocol hopes to validate the better efficacy and safety of the combined treatment in patients with diabetic macula compared with the other two monotherapies alone during the 12-month follow-up period. The trial is designed to focus on clarifying the time-effect relationship between imaging measures related to the integrity of retinal ganglion cells and best-corrected visual acuity. The trial protocol was approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of the Affiliated Hospital of Beihua University with approval No.(2023)(26)on April 25,2023,and was registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry(registration number:ChiCTR2300072478,June 14,2023,protocol version:2.0). | Xiangjun Li Chunyan Li Hai Huang Dan Bai Jingyi Wang Anqi Chen Yu Gong Ying Leng | 2024 | Neural Regeneration Research2024,19,4: | 0
Interplay of transcription factors and microRNAs during embryonic hematopoiesis显示文摘Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), which are localized in the bone marrow of adult mammals, come from hematopoietic endothelium during embryonic stages. Although the basic processes of HSC generation and differentiation have been described in the past, the epigenetic regulation of embryonic hematopoiesis remains to be fully described. Here, by utilizing an in vitro differentiation system of mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs), we identified more than 20 microRNAs that were highly enriched in embryonic hematopoietic cells, including some (e.g. miR-10b, miR-15b, and miR-27a) with previously unknown functions in blood formation. Luciferase and gene expression assays further revealed combinational binding and regulation of these microRNAs by key transcription factors in blood cells. Finally, bioinformatics and functional analyses supported an interactive regulatory control between transcription factors and microRNAs in hematopoiesis. | Xueping Gong Ruihua Chao Pengxiang Wang Xiaoli Huang Jingjing Zhang Xiaozhou Zhu Yanyang Zhang Xue Yang Chao Hou Xiangjun Ji Tieliu Shi Yuan Wang | 2017 | Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,2: | 0
Four Pillars Underpinning a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation显示文摘Throughout history, there have been close political, economic, and cultural connections between the border areas and the interior of China. To strengthen the unity of the Chinese nation and forge a strong sense of national identity,it is important to draw inspiration from our history.Politically,we must reinforce the memory of national unity and promote the belief that the Chinese nation is a big family and China's territory is indivisible.Economically,it is crucial to continue the historical economic ties between the border areas and the interior, and to deepen economic interdependence in the present era. This will strengthen economic connections between different regions and groups within China and promote unity.Socially,it is essential to facilitate the population flow between dfferent regions, particularly between the border areas and the interior,to promote ethnic communication and integration.Encouraging ethnic groups to live among each other and supporting two-way population flow can further enhance social cohesion.Culturally,we must maintain our tradition of cultural sharing and spread traditional Chinese culture and modern socialist values among all ethnic groups. This will strengthen the bond of the Chinese nation as one community. These four pillars-political,economic,social,and cultural-form the foundation of a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. | Xiangjun CHEN Xiuying GONG | 2023 | Journal of the Chinese Nation Studies2023,2,2: | 0
