1Renewable Energy Transmission by HVDC Across the Continent:System Challenges and Opportunities显示文摘Rapid development of renewable energy in China is driving a major shift in the characteristics and control requirements of the electricity grid.Since the best renewable energy resources are far away from load centers in the east and southeast,transmission over long distances is required.Over 20 high-voltage DC(HVDC)transmission lines,with a combined capacity exceeding 150 GW,are in operation or are currently under construction.This rapid expansion of new generation and transmission capacities based on power electronics starts to change the characteristics of the grid,especially in areas where they concentrate,creating new stability problems and operational challenges.New system theories and technologies are required to support the development and operation of a future grid that relies more and more on power electronics.This paper highlights the characteristics of power electronics as used in renewable energy generation and HVDC transmission systems,discusses the impacts of these power-electronics-based assets on grid stability and operational requirements,and identifies opportunities for the development of both new system theories and system technologies to support a national energy policy that emphasizes the use of clean energy.Jian Sun Mingjie Li Zhigang Zhang Tao Xu Jingbo He Haijiao Wang Guanghui Li 2017CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2017,3,4:43
2Identification of coastal wetlands of international importance for waterbirds:a review of China Coastal Waterbird Surveys 2005–2013显示文摘Background:China's coastal wetlands belong to some of the most threatened ecosystems worldwide.The loss and degradation of these wetlands seriously threaten waterbirds that depend on wetlands.Methods:The China Coastal Waterbird Census was organized by volunteer birdwatchers in China's coastal region.Waterbirds were surveyed synchronously once every month at 14 sites,as well as irregularly at a further 18 sites,between September 2005 and December 2013.Results:A total of 75 species of waterbirds met the 1 % population level Ramsar listing criterion at least once at one site.The number of birds of the following species accounted for over 20 % of the total flyway populations at a single site:Mute Swan(Cygnus olor),Siberia Crane(Grus leucogeranus),Far Eastern Oystercatcher(Haematopus osculans),Bar-tailed Godwit(Limosa lapponica),Spotted Greenshank(Tringa guttifer),Great Knot(Calidris tenuirostris),Spoon-billed Sandpiper(Calidris pygmeus),Saunders' s Gull(Larus saundersi),Relict Gull(Larus relictus),Great Cormorant(Phalacrocorax carbo),Eurasian Spoonbill(Platalea leucorodia),Black-faced Spoonbill(Platalea minor) and Dalmatian Pelican(Pelecanus crispus).A total of 26 sites supported at least one species of which their number met the1 % criterion.Forty-two species met the 1 % criterion in the Yellow River Delta,Shandong;29 at the Cangzhou coast,Hebei and 26 species at the Lianyungang coast,Jiangsu.Conclusions:The results highlight the international importance of China's coastal wetlands for waterbirds.This study also demonstrates that participation of local birdwatchers in waterbird surveys results in data that are invaluable not only for understanding the current status of waterbirds in China's coastal regions but also for waterbird conservation and management.Qingquan Bai Jianzhong Chen Zhihong Chen Guotai Dong Jiangtian Dong Wenxiao Dong Vivian Wing Kan Fu Yongxiang Han Gang Lu Jing Li Yang Liu Zhi Lin Derong Meng Jonathan Martinez Guanghui Ni Kai Shan Renjie Sun Suixing Tian Fengqin Wang Zhiwei Xu Yat-tung Yu Jin Yang Zhidong Yang Lin Zhang Ming Zhang Xiangwu Zeng 2015Chinese Birds2015,,3:20
3Thermal energy storage:Challenges and the role of particle technology显示文摘Thermal energy is at the heart of the whole energy chain providing a main linkage between the primary and secondary energy sources.Thermal energy storage(TES)has a pivotal role to play in the energy chain and hence in future low carbon economy.However,a competitive TES technology requires a number of scientific and technological challenges to be addressed including TES materials,TES components and devices,and integration of TES devices with energy networks and associated dynamic optimization.This paper provides a perspective of TES technology with a focus on TES materials challenges using molten salts based phase change materials for medium and high temperature applications.Two key challenges for the molten salt based TES materials are chemical incompatibility and low thermal conductivity.The use of composite materials provides an avenue to meeting the challenges.Such composite materials consist of a phase change material,a structural supporting material,and a thermal conductivity enhancement material.The properties of the supporting material could determine the dispersion of the thermal conductivity enhancement material in the salt.A right combination of the salt,the structural supporting material,and the thermal conductivity enhancement material could give a hierarchical structure that is able to encapsulate the molten salt and give a substantial enhancement in the thermal conductivity.Understanding of the structure-property relationships for the composite is essential for the formulation design and fabrication of the composite materials.Linking materials properties to the system level performance is recommended as a key future direction of research.Zhiwei Ge Yongliang Li Dacheng Li Ze Sun Yi Jin Chuanping Liu Chuan Li Guanghui Leng Yulong Ding 2014Particuology2014,12,4:20

5Intrinsic apoptotic pathway and G2/M cell cycle arrest involved in tubeimoside I-induced EC109 cell death显示文摘Objective: Squamous esophageal carcinoma is highly prevalent in developing countries, especially in China. Tu Bei Mu (TBM), a traditional folk medicine, has been used to treat esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) for a long term. tubeimoside I (TBMS1) is the main component of TBM, exhibiting great anticancer potential. In this study, we investigated the mechanism of TBMS1 cytotoxic effect on EC109 cells. Methods: Comparative nuclear proteomic approach was applied in the current study and we identified several altered protein spots. Further biochemical studies were carried out to detect the mitochondrial membrane potential, cell cycle and corresponding proteins' expression and location. Results: Subcellular proteomic study in the nucleus from EC109 cells revealed that altered proteins were associated with mitochondrial function and cell proliferation. Further biochemical studies showed that TBMS1-induced molecular events were related to mitochondria-induced intrinsic apoptosis and P21-cyclin B1/cdc2 complex-related G2/M cell cycle arrest. 7Major advances in studies of the physical geography and living environment of China during the past 70 years and future prospects显示文摘The natural environment provides material essentials for human survival and development. The characteristics,processes, regional differentiation and forcing mechanisms of the elements of the natural environment(e.g. geomorphology,climate, hydrology, soil, etc.) are the main objects of research in physical geography. China has a complex natural environment and huge regional differentiation and therefore it provides outstanding reserach opportunities in physical geography. This review summarizes the most important developments and the main contributions of research in the physical geography and human living environment in China during the past 70 years. The major topics addressed are the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the evolution of its cryosphere, the development of fluvial systems, the acidification of the vast arid region of the Asian interior, variations in the monsoon and westerly climate systems on multiple timescales, the development of lakes and wetlands, the watershed system model, soil erosion, past human-environment interactions, biogeography, and physical geographic zonality. After briefly introducing international research developments, we review the history of research in physical geography in China, focusing on the major achievements and major academic debates, and finally we summarize the status of current research and the future prospects. 9Endogenous level of TIGAR in brain is associated with vulnerability of neurons to ischemic injury显示文摘In previous studies,we showed that TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator(TIGAR) protects neurons against ischemic brain injury.In the present study,we investigated the developmental changes of TIGAR level in mouse brain and the correlation of TIGAR expression with the vulnerability of neurons to ischemic injury.We found that the TIGAR level was high in the embryonic stage,dropped at birth,partially recovered in the early postnatal period,and then continued to decline to a lower level in early adult and aged mice.The TIGAR expression was higher after ischemia/reperfusion in mouse brain 8and 12 weeks after birth.Four-week-old mice had smaller infarct volumes,lower neurological scores,and lower mortality rates after ischemia than 8- and12-week-old mice.TIGAR expression also increased in response to oxygen glucose deprivation(OGD)/reoxygenation insult or H_2O_2 treatment in cultured primary neurons from different embryonic stages(E16 and E20).The neurons cultured from the early embryonic period had a greater resistance to OGD and oxidative insult.Higher TIGAR levels correlated with higher pentose phosphate pathway activity and less oxidative stress.Older mice and more mature neurons had more severe DNA and mitochondrial damage than younger mice and less mature neurons in response to ischemia/reperfusion or OGD/reoxygenation insult.Supplementation of cultured neurons with nicotinamide adenine dinuclectide phosphate(NADPH) significantly reduced ischemic injury.These results suggest that TIGAR expression changes during development and its expression level may be correlated with the vulnerability of neurons to ischemic injury.Lijuan Cao Jieyu Chen Mei Li Yuan-Yuan Qin Meiling Sun Rui Sheng Feng Han Guanghui Wang Zheng-Hong Qin 2015Neuroscience Bulletin2015,31,5:6
10Training effectiveness evaluation of helicopter emergency relief based on virtual simulation显示文摘Helicopters are playing an increasingly important part in emergency relief, such as earthquake rescue, firefighting and medical transport. With the development of virtual simulation technology, virtual simulation-based training is widely used in the training of the helicopter crew especially for the dangerous and costly missions mentioned above. A complete training effectiveness evaluation method is proposed to evaluate the trainees' training effect based on virtual simulation in this paper. A key to this method is regarding the complicated process as a discrete event-activity flow system and establishing the evaluation indicator system. Then expert group and Analytical Network Process(ANP) are applied to determine the weight of indicators. When the training data are processed, there is a novel attempt to apply Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation(FCE) model to calculate the two categories of indicators. 12Enhanced extraction of essential oil from Cinnamomum cassia bark by ultrasound assisted hydrodistillation显示文摘Cinnamon essential oil with many bioactivities is an important raw material for the production of various chemicals,and the conventional hydrodistillation(HD)for cinnamon oil extraction always require a longer extraction time.In this work,ultrasound-assisted hydrodistillation extraction(UAHDE)technique was employed to enhance the extraction efficiency of essential oils from cinnamon barks.The parameters with significant effects on the essential oil extraction efficiency(ultrasound time,ultrasound power,extraction time,liquid–solid ratio)were optimized,and the proposed UAHDE was compared with the conventional HD extraction in terms of the extraction time,extraction yield,and physicochemical properties of extracted oils.Compared to the HD extraction,the UAHDE resulted in a shorter extraction time and a higher extraction yield.Using GC–MS analysis,the UAHDE provided more valuable essential oil with a high content of the vital trans-cinnamaldehyde compounds compared with the HD.Scanning electron micrograph(SEM)confirmed the efficiency of ultrasound irradiation for cinnamon oil extraction.In addition,the analysis of electric consumption and CO_(2) emission shows that the UAHDE process is a more economic and environment-friendly approach.Thus,UAHDE is an efficient and green technology for the cinnamon essential oil extraction,which could improve the quantity and quality of cinnamon oils.Guanghui Chen Fengrui Sun Shougui Wang Weiwen Wang Jipeng Dong Fei Gao 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,8:4
13α-Synuclein aggregation and transmission in Parkinson’s disease: a link to mitochondria and lysosome显示文摘The presence of intraneuronal Lewy bodies(LBs) and Lewy neurites(LNs) in the substantia nigra(SN) composed of aggregatedα-synuclein(α-syn) has been recognized as a hallmark of pathological changes in Parkinson’s disease(PD). Numerous studies have shown that aggregated α-syn is necessary for neurotoxicity. Meanwhile, the mitochondrial and lysosomal dysfunctions are associated with α-syn pathogenicity. The hypothesis that α-syn transmission in the human brain contributes to the instigation and progression of PD has provided insights into PD pathology. 15Poly-PR in C9ORF72-Related Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis/Frontotemporal Dementia Causes Neurotoxicity by Clathrin-Dependent Endocytosis显示文摘GGGGCC repeat expansions in the C9 ORF72 gene are the most common cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontotemporal dementia(c9 ALS/FTD). It has been reported that hexanucleotide repeat expansions in C9 ORF72 produce five dipeptide repeat(DPR) proteins by an unconventional repeat-associated non-ATG(RAN)translation. Within the five DPR proteins, poly-PR and poly-GR that contain arginine are more toxic than the other DPRs(poly-GA, poly-GP, and poly-PA). Here, we demonstrated that poly-PR peptides transferred into cells by endocytosis in a clathrin-dependent manner, leading to endoplasmic reticulum stress and cell death. In SH-SY5 Y cells and primary cortical neurons, poly-PR activated JUN amino-terminal kinase(JNK) and increased the levels of p53 and Bax. The uptake of poly-PR peptides by cells was significantly inhibited by knockdown of clathrin or by chlorpromazine, an inhibitor that blocks clathrin-mediated endocytosis. Inhibition of clathrin-dependent endocytosis by chlorpromazine significantly blocked the transfer of poly-PR peptides into cells, and attenuated poly-PRinduced JNK activation and cell death. 16An experimental study on dynamic coupling process of alkaline feldspar dissolution and secondary mineral precipitation显示文摘In order to clarify the dynamic process of feldspar dissolution-precipitation and explore the formation mechanism of secondary porosity,six batch reactor experiments were conducted at 200℃and pH=7 measured at room temperature.Temporal evolution of fluid chemistry was analyzed with an inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer(ICP-OES).Solid reaction products were retrieved from six batch experiments terminated after 36,180,276,415,766 and 1008 h.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)revealed dissolution features and significant secondary mineral adhered on the feldspar surface.The process of feldspar dissolution-precipitation proceeded slowly and full equilibrium was not achieved after 1008 h.Saturation indices suggested that the albite and K-feldspar dissolution occurred throughout the experiments.The average dissolution rates for albite and K-feldspar were 2.28×10^-10 and 8.51×10^-11 mol m^-2 s^-1,respectively.Based on the experimental data,the reaction process of alkaline feldspar was simulated and the secondary porosity had increased 0.3%after the experiment.Meirong Li -Chenchu Li Juntao Xing Xiuting Sun Guanghui Yuan Yingchang Cao 2019Acta Geochimica2019,38,6:3
17Seasonal and spatial variation in species diversity, abundance, and element accumulation capacities of macroalgae in mangrove forests of Zhanjiang, China显示文摘The objective of this study was to investigate whether there was distinctive seasonal and zonal variation in the species diversity, biomass, and element accumulation capacities of macroalgae in two major intertidal mangrove stand types(Avicennia marina assemblage and Sonneratia apetala assemblage) in the Zhanjiang region of southern China. Over a year, 31 species in 15 genera were identified in both mangrove assemblages, of which the dominant species were Cladophoropsis zollingeri and Enteromorpha clathrat. Macroalgal species were significantly most abundant in spring(p<0.05), followed by summer, winter, and autumn. Variation in the zonal distribution of macroalgal species was conspicuous in both intertidal mangrove assemblages, with the greatest abundance in the middle zone, and the least in the front zone. Patterns in the seasonal and zonal variation in macroalgal biomass in the S. apetala assemblage were similar to those of macroalgal species diversity in both mangrove assemblages. The seasonal patterns in tissue concentrations of 15 analyzed elements were not uniform among the macroalgae C. zollingeri, E. clathrata, and Gracilaria salicornia in the A. marina assemblage. 18Impedance control of multi-arm space robot for the capture of non-cooperative targets显示文摘Robotic systems are expected to play an increasingly important role in future space activities. The robotic on-orbital service, whose key is the capturing technology, becomes a research hot spot in recent years. This paper studies the dynamics modeling and impedance control of a multi-arm free-flying space robotic system capturing a non-cooperative target. Firstly, a control-oriented dynamics model is essential in control algorithm design and code realization. Unlike a numerical algorithm, an analytical approach is suggested. Using a general and a quasi-coordinate Lagrangian formulation, the kinematics and dynamics equations are derived.Then, an impedance control algorithm is developed which allows coordinated control of the multiple manipulators to capture a target.Through enforcing a reference impedance, end-effectors behave like a mass-damper-spring system fixed in inertial space in reaction to any contact force between the capture hands and the target. Meanwhile, the position and the attitude of the base are maintained stably by using gas jet thrusters to work against the manipulators' reaction. 19An enhanced least squares residual RAIM algorithm based on optimal decentralized factor显示文摘The Least Squares Residual(LSR)algorithm is commonly used in the Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring(RAIM).However,LSR algorithm presents high Missed Detection Risk(MDR)caused by a large-slope faulty satellite and high False Alert Risk(FAR)caused by a small-slope faulty satellite.In this paper,the LSR algorithm is improved to reduce the MDR for a large-slope faulty satellite and the FAR for a small-slope faulty satellite.Based on the analysis of the vertical critical slope,the optimal decentralized factor is defined and the optimal test statistic is conceived,which can minimize the FAR with the premise that the MDR does not exceed its allowable value of all three directions.To construct a new test statistic approximating to the optimal test statistic,the Optimal Decentralized Factor weighted LSR(ODF-LSR)algorithm is proposed.The new test statistic maintains the sum of pseudo-range residual squares,but the specific pseudo-range residual is weighted with a parameter related to the optimal decentralized factor.The new test statistic has the same decentralized parameter with the optimal test statistic when single faulty satellite exists,and the difference between the expectation of the new test statistic and the optimal test statistic is the minimum when no faulty satellite exists.The performance of the ODFLSR algorithm is demonstrated by simulation experiments.Guanghui SUN Chengdong XU Dan SONG Yimei JIAN 2020Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2020,33,12:3
20Electrochemical Aptasensor Based on Prussian Blue-Chitosan-Glutaraldehyde for the Sensitive Determination of Tetracycline显示文摘In this paper, a novel and sensitive electrochemical aptasensor for detecting tetracycline(TET)with prussian blue(PB) as the label-free signal was fabricated. A PB-chitosan-glutaraldehyde(PB-CS-GA)system acting as the signal indicator was developed to improve the sensitivity of the electrochemical aptasensor.Firstly, the PB-CS-GA was fixed onto the glass carbon electrode surface. Then, colloidal gold nanoparticles(Au NPs) were droped onto the electrode to immobilize the anti-TET aptamer for preparation of the aptasensor.The stepwise assembly process of the aptasensor was characterized by cyclic voltammetry(C-V) and scanning electron microscope(SEM). The target TET captured onto the electrode induced the current response of the electrode due to the non-conducting biomoleculars. Under the optimum operating conditions, the response of differential pulse voltammetry(DPV) was used for detecting the concentration of TET. The proposed aptasensor showed a high sensitivity and a wide linear range of 109-~ 105-M and 105-~ 102-M with the correlation coefficients of 0.994 and 0.992, respectively. The detection limit was 3.2×1010-M(RSD 4.12%).
