Modeling of state of vegetation and soil erosion over large areas显示文摘A vegetation-erosion model was developed to assess the extent of soil erosion and development trend of vegetation in the context of existing and contemplated vegetation-based soil erosion controls under different climatic, topographical and soil conditions. The model recognizes four vegetation-mediated soil erosion states: (i) an expanding vegetation coverage coupled with reduced erosion (C), (ii) a deteriorating vegetation coverage coupled with increased erosion (A), (iii) two transitional states between A and C, one with increasing erosion and vegetation coverage (B) and the other with decreasing erosion and vegetation coverage (D). With the model, the vegetation-erosion state of any particular area can be quantitatively described, by way of a vegetation-erosion chart, for varying climate, soil and topographic conditions, as demonstrated for the Xishan region, the East River basin, the Wangjiagou and Anjiagou watersheds (Loess Plateau), and the Xiaojiang watersheds (hot and dry valleys in the upper Yangtze River basin) in China. This paper presents the principles and results of area-specific investigations that track the fractions of the areas covered by vegetation and experiencing soil erosion (with soil loss determined in t/km2yr). This is done within the context of local soil erosion control initiatives via re-vegetation efforts, or the lack thereof, over the course of 30 years. The effectiveness of reforestation and erosion-control measures vary under different climatic, topographical and soil conditions. The vegetation may be quickly restored in the hot and wet East River basin but is very difficult on the dry and cold Loess Plateau. In the hot and dry valleys the vegetation can be restored if erosion is controlled and intensive reforestations for small watersheds are performed. | Zhao-Yin WANG Guangqian WANG Guohe HUANG | 2008 | International Journal of Sediment Research2008,23,3: | 13

The influence of ^(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography on the N-and M-staging and subsequent clinical management of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma显示文摘Background:Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC)is a highly metastatic cancer.^(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography(^(18)F-FDG PET/CT)enables sensitive tumor and metastasis detection. Our aim is to evaluate the influence of pre-treatment PET/CT on the N-and M-staging and subsequent clinical management in ICC patients. Methods:Between August 2010 and August 2018,660 consecutive ICC patients, without prior anti-tumor treatments nor other malignancies, were enrolled. The diagnostic performance of PET/CT on the N-and M-staging was compared with conventional imaging, and the preoperative staging accuracy and treatment re-allocation by PET/CT were retrospectively calculated.Survival difference was compared between patients receiving PET/CT or not after propensity score matching. Results:Patients were divided into group A(n=291)and group B(n=369)according to whether PET/CT was performed.Among 291 patients with both PET/CT and conventional imaging for staging in group A,PET/CT showed significantly higher sensitivity(83.0%vs.70.5%,P=0.001),specificity(88.3%vs.74.9%,P<0.001)and accuracy(86.3%vs.73.2%,P<0.001)than conventional imaging in diagnosing regional lymph node metastasis,as well as higher sensitivity(87.8%vs.67.6%,P<0.001)and accuracy(93.5%vs.89.3%,P=0.023)in diagnosing distant metastasis.Overall,PET/CT improved the accuracy of preoperative staging from 60.1%to 71.8%(P<0.001),and modified clinical treatment strategy in 5.8%(17/291)of ICC patients, with unique roles in different tumor-node-metastasis(TNM)stages.High tumor-to-non-tumor ratio(TNR)predicted poor overall survival[hazard ratio(HR)=2.17;95%confidence interval(CI):1.49-3.15;P<0.001].Furthermore,patients performing PET/CT had longer overall survival compared with those without PET/CT(HR=0.74;95%CI:0.58-0.93;P=0.011)after propensity score matching.Conclusions:PET/CT was valuable for diagnosing regional lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis in ICC patients, and facilitated accurate tumor staging and optimal treatment allocation. | Youpei Lin Huanhuan Chong Guohe Song Chenhao Zhang Liangqing Dong Ling Aye Fei Liang Shuaixi Yang Mengsu Zeng Guangyu Ding Shu Zhang Jieyi Shi Aiwu Ke Xiaoying Wang Jian Zhou Jia Fan Qiang Gao | 2022 | Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2022,11,5: | 3
The Pumilio RNA-binding protein APUM24 regulates seed maturation by fine-tuning the BPM-WRI1 module in Arabidopsis显示文摘Pumilio RNAbindingproteinsparticipateinmes-senger RNA(mRNA)degradation and t ranslational repression, but their roles in plant development are largely unclear. Here,we show that Arabidopsis PUMILIO PROTEIN24(APUM24),an atypical Pumiliohomology domaincontaining protein, plays an im-portant part in regulating seed maturation,a major stage of plant development.APUM24 is strongly expressed in maturing seeds.Reducing APUM24 expression resulted in abnormal seed maturation, wrinkled seeds, and lower seed oil contents, and APUM24 knockdown resulted in lower levels of WRINKLED 1(WRI1),a key transcription factor con-trolling seed oil accumulation, and lower expression of WRI1 target genes.APUM24 reduces the mRNA stability of BTB/POZMATH(BPM)family genes, thus decreasing BPM protein levels.BPM is responsible for the 26S proteasomemediated degradation of WRI1 and has important functions in plant growth and development. The 3′untranslated regions of BPM family genes contain putative Pumilio response elements(PREs),which are bound by APUM24.Re-duced BPM or increased WRI1 expression rescued the decient seed maturation of apum242 knock-down mutants, and APUM24 overexpression re-sulted in increased seed size and weight.Therefore,APUM24 is crucial to seed maturation through its action as a positive regulatornetuning the BPMWRI1 module, making APUM24 apromising target for breeding strategies to increase crop yields. | Ruihua Huang Mengling Liu Guanping Gong Pingzhi Wu Barunava Patra Ling Yuan Hongting Qin Xiaoxu Wang Guohe Wang Huimei Liao Lu Gao Chengwei Yang Hongqing Li Shengchun Zhang | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,7: | 2
Engineering Geological Study of the Active Tectonic Region for Hydropower Development on the Jinsha River,Upstream of the Yangtze River显示文摘The Jinsha River runs across the Hengduanshan north-south tectonic zone where neotectonism was relatively strong, accompanied by various geologic hazards. In this case, it seems necessary to make a quantitative assessment and grading of the engineering geological environment for the planning and development of hydropower projects on the Jinsha River. The studies of crustal structures and activities of neotectonic fault blocks provide a three-dimensional geomechan-ics model for us to make an assessment of the engineering geological environment. Based on the survey data and results from geologic hazard risk analysis, a hierarchical analysis model on the quality of the engineering geological environment is established with respect to the crustal stability, ground stability, and rock and soil mass stability. Nine factors relevant to the geological environment are selected and five levels are used for the quality grades: very bad, bad, mediocre, good, very good. | 10 | Low power and high write speed SEU tolerant SRAM data cell design显示文摘As feature size scales down, reliability issues like single event upset(SEU) have become serious for circuit and system designers, especially for those who work on memory and latch designs. In this paper, an improved SEU tolerant data cell design based on the Quatro-10 T cell is proposed. The introduced cell enhances the capability of SEU tolerance by weakening the key transistors in the feedback loop to block the effects of transient fault. Simulation results show that our proposed design achieves obvious higher resilience to SEU and better performance on speed and power dissipation at the expense of an increased area. The proposed cell is a fully SEU immune design with an amount of critical charge at least 7 times more than the Quatro-10 T cell and has the lowest Power Delay Product. It shows that our design is very suitable in high-performance circuit and system design. | WANG Li ZHANG GuoHe ZENG YunLin SHAO ZhiBiao | 2015 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,11: | 1

Characteristics of Particulate Matter Emissions for Low-Sulfur Heavy Oil Used in Low-Speed Two-Stroke Diesel Engines of Ocean-Going Ships显示文摘In this work, particulate matter(PM) emissions from a large two-stroke,low-speed marine diesel engine were investigated when the engine was operated with low-sulfur heavy fuel oil(HFO) at various loads.Particle samples were collected in situ from the engine exhaust to determine the detailed physical and chemical properties. The nanostructure and morphology of the nanoparticles were analyzed using transmission electron microscopy images(TEM).The results show that volatile organic carbon(OC) accounts for more than 80% in the HFO particles and leads to an increase in particle size. The thermodynamic conditions of a low-speed engine favor the behavior of capturing the soluble organic components.A large number of spherical char HFO particles with aerodynamic diameters of 0.2 μm-0.5 μm and a suspected inner metal core were detected. The two peak aerodynamic diameters of the HFO nanoparticles are 15 nm and 86 nm.The morphological differences among the HFO nanoparticles in varied engine conditions represent the formation process from primary nascent particles to mature graphitized particles caused by thermodynamics. The above study will be valuable for understanding the characteristics of PM emissions from low-sulfur HFO to achieve the ship PM emissions reduction target. | WU Gang MA Qianli WEI Lijiang JIANG Guohe WANG Tengfei LI Tie | 2024 | Journal of Thermal Science2024,33,2: | 0
