| 1 | Progress in inhomogeneity of critical current and index n value measurements on HTS tapes using contact-free method显示文摘The development of high temperature superconducting(HTS)tapes has recently made great progress,and Bi-based tapes(1 G) and YBCO coated conductor(2 G)are commercially fabricated with practical length.Application of HTS in electric power apparatuses made important achievement,various superconducting devices were demonstrated in grid,laying solid foundation for their commercialization.However,since their intrinsic microscopic defects such as weak-link,granularity,small second phase likely exist,critical current and index n value of the HTS tapes in practical length are impossible homogeneous,which have significant influences on safety,stability and efficiency of the HTS apparatuses.Therefore,critical current and index n value are two important parameters describing inhomogeneity of HTS tapes,thus two important indices for evaluating quality of practical long HTS tapes.This paper focuses on main progresses in inhomogeneity of critical current and index n value measurements on HTS tapes using contact-free methods.The statistical analytical methods evaluating the inhomogeneity of critical current and index n value are suggested.They can provide essential references for design and operation of HTS apparatuses. | WANG YinShun GUAN XiaoJin ZHANG HuiYuan LIU HongWei | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,8: | 8 |

| 4 | Policy and Practice Progress of Watershed Eco-compensation in China显示文摘The ecological protection of the watersheds in China is being confronted with a lot of problems such as soil and water erosion, water pollution at present. Therefore watershed eco-compensation is becoming a question of common interest. Based on the analyses of the major problems and their origins in the watershed protection in China, the paper discusses the concerned policies including relative rules and laws, financial policies and water right transaction policies. Simultaneously the paper reviews the practices carried out in China, including the ecological construction project in the western China, the trans-provincial eco-compensation practice and the small watershed eco-compensation practice. | 5 | Removal and transformation of organic matters in domestic wastewater during lab-scale chemically enhanced primary treatment and a trickling filter treatment显示文摘To find a simple and economical way for treating the domestic wastewater in small counties and towns, a process combining chemically enhanced primary treatment and a trickling filter (CEPT-TF, representing the physical and biological effects) was constructed and operated in laboratory conditions. The characteristic behaviors of dissolved organic matter in raw wastewater and effluents were examined during steady-state operation. Experimental results showed that the process of CEPT and TF in series was beneficial for the removal of hydrophobic and hydrophilic organics. Specially, the hydrophobic and aromatic materials could be preferentially removed in the CEPT unit, and the hydrophilic fraction in the TF. | 9 | VOCs released from municipal solid waste at the initial decomposition stage: Emission characteristics and an odor impact assessment显示文摘The nuisance from odor caused by municipal solid waste(MSW) is resulting in a growing number of public complaints and concerns. Odor pollution occurs in the initial decomposition stage of MSW, including waste collection, transportation and early pre-treatment. Furthermore, decomposition takes place in waste facilities that are often close to living areas, which can result in odor impacts on local inhabitants. However, this aspect of odor impact from MSW has not been well studied. In the current study, lab-scale waste cells were designed to simulate MSW storage conditions in the early stage. The characteristics of VOCs emissions with different waste compositions were analyzed. The odor concentration( CO, non-dimensional) method and odor intensity were used for the assessment of odor. Ethanol was the substance with highest emission rate. The release rate of VOCs increased with the growth easily biodegradable waste(EBW). VOCs emissions was reduced by 25% when the proportion of EBW decreased from 60% to 45%. Methyl sulfide, ethanol, dimethyl disulfide and ethyl acetate were identified as typical odorants. The EBW proportion in waste is the main factor significantly influencing odor pollution. The CO was 244.51 for the 60% EBW condition, which was only 61.46 for 15% EBW condition. | 10 | Application of non-equilibrium dendrite growth model considering thermo-kinetic correlation in twin-roll casting显示文摘Upon non-equilibrium solidifications, dendrite growth, generally as precursor of as-solidified structures,has severe effects on subsequent phase transformations. Considering synergy of thermodynamics and kinetics controlling interface migration and following conservation of heat flux in solid temperature field, a more flexible modeling for the dendrite growth is herein developed for multi-component alloys,where, two inherent problems, i.e. correlation between thermodynamics and kinetics(i.e. the thermokinetic correlation), and theoretical connection between dendrite growth model and practical processing,have been successfully solved. Accordingly, both the thermodynamic driving force G and the effective kinetic energy barrier Qeffhave been found to control quantitatively the dendrite growth(i.e. especially the growth velocity, V), as reflected by the thermo-kinetic trade-off. Compared with previous models, it is the thermo-kinetic correlation that guarantees quantitative connection between the practical processing parameters and the current theoretical framework, as well as more reasonable description for kinetic behaviors involved. | 13 | Exogenous SA or 6-BA maintains photosynthetic activity in maize leaves under high temperature stress显示文摘With global warming, high-temperature(HT) stress has become a major abiotic stress for crops, in particular summer maize in China. Photosynthesis is sensitive to HT. Salicylic acid(SA) and 6-benzyladenine(6-BA) can improve the adaptation of plants to various biotic and abiotic stresses. However, their contribution to maintaining photosynthetic activity and alleviating photoinhibition in maize leaves under HT stress is still unclear. The effects of exogenous SA or 6-BA on growth, photosynthesis capacity, photosystem Ⅱ(PSII) activity, subcellular ultrastructure, antioxidant system, and plant hormones in maize leaves under HT stress were investigated. Under HT conditions, application of SA or 6-BA up-regulated gibberellin and zeatin content in leaves, increasing leaf area index(LAI). It also expanded the stomata by reducing abscisic acid and jasmonic acid content in leaves, cooling them and increasing CO2supply to photosynthesis. A higher net photosynthetic rate, combined with increased activity of the antioxidant system, alleviated oxidative stress in maize plants sprayed with SA or 6-BA, allowing them to maintain their chloroplast ultrastructure and PSII activity, in particular electron transfer from QAto QB.
