| 1 | Effect of dissolved organic matter on nitrate-nitrogen removal by anion exchange resin and kinetics studies显示文摘The effects of dissolved organic matter (DOM) on the removal of nitrate-nitrogen from the model contaminated water have been investigated utilizing the strong base anion exchange resins. With the increase of gallic acid concentration from 0 to 400 mg/L, the adsorption amount of nitrate-nitrogen on the commercial resins, including D201, Purolite A 300 (A300) and Purolite A 520E (A520E), would significantly decrease. However, the presence of tannin acid has little impact on nitrate-nitrogen adsorption on them. Compared to D201 and A300 resins, A520E resin exhibited more preferable adsorption ability toward nitrate-nitrogen in the presence of competing organic molecules, such as gallic acid and tannin acid at greater levels in aqueous solution. Attractively, the equilibrium data showed that the adsorption isotherm of nitrate-nitrogen on A520E resin was in good agreement with Langmuir and Freundlich equations. The rate parameters for the intra particle diffusion have been estimated for the different initial concentrations. In batch adsorption processes, nitrate-nitrogen diffuse in porous adsorbent and rate process usually depends on t 1/2 rather than the contact time. The pseudo first- and the second-order kinetic models fit better for nitrate-nitrogen adsorption onto A520E resin. | 2 | Radiation-pressure-induced photoluminescence enhancement of all-inorganic perovskite CsPbBr3 quantum dots显示文摘Perovskite quantum dots(QDs) are of great interest due to their outstanding optoelectronic properties and tremendous application potential. Improving photoluminescence(PL) spectra in all-inorganic perovskite QDs is of great importance for performance enhancement. In this work, the PL quantum yield of the CsPbBr3 perovskite QDs is enhanced from 70% to 95% with increasing radiation pressure. Such enhancement is attributed to the increased binding energy of self-trapped excitons(STEs) upon radiation pressure, which is consistent with its blue-shifted PL and other characterization results. Furthermore, we study ultrafast absorption spectroscopy and find that the dynamics of relaxation from free excitons to STEs in radiation pressure CsPbBr3 QDs is ascribed to stronger electron–phonon coupling in the contracted octahedral structure. | 9 | Stressed carbon nanotube devices for high tunability,high quality factor, single mode GHz resonators显示文摘The emerging applications of nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) inground-state cooling, quantum manipulation, communication devices, etc., callfor a nanoresonator with high frequency, quality factor, and tunability, as wellas easy integration. Here we show that such a nanoresonator can be achievedby using a unique assembly technique that transfers the stressed inner shell ofcarbon nanotubes (CNTs) to a self-aligned device geometry. The as-fabricatednanoresonator shows excellent comprehensive performance, i.e., high frequency(2-3 GHz), high tunability (80-110 MHz/V), high quality factor (3×10^4), andsingle mode operation. The defect-free nature of the inner shell of the CNTgives rise to a high quality factor, and the preloaded tension improves theresonant frequency and tunability. | 12 | Paleo-redox conditions across the Permian-Triassic boundary in shallow carbonate platform of the Nanpanjiang Basin, South China显示文摘Ocean anoxia has been widely implicated in the Permian-Triassic extinction.However,the duration and distribution of the ocean anoxia remains controversial.In this study,the detailed redox changes across the Permian-Triassic boundary(PTB)in the shallow platform interior at Great Bank of Guizhou(GBG)has been reconstructed based on the high-resolution microfossil composition and multiple paleo-redox proxies.The shallow platform is characterized by low sulfur(total sulfur(TS)and pyrite sulfur(Spy))concentrations,low Spy/TOC ratios,and low DOP values before the mass extinction,representing oxic conditions well.Following the mass extinction,the shift of multiple geochemical proxies,including high Spy/TOC ratios and DOP values,indicates dysoxic-anoxic conditions in shallow ocean.Furthermore,we reconstruct the transition of the redox conditions of Nanpanjiang Basin:the intense volcanic eruptions,which release huge CO2 and SO2 before the mass extinction,provoke the temperature rising and the collapse of terrestrial ecosystem.As a result,the increased weathering influx causes the carbon isotopic negative excursion and the expansion of the ocean oxygen minimum zone(OMZ).When the OMZ expanded into the photic zone,the episodic H2S release events enhance the pyrite burial at Dajiang section.Thus,intense volcanic eruptions,temperature increase,and oceanic hypoxia together lead to the PTB extinction.Recent studies show high temperature might be the key mechanism of the PTB extinction.In addition,this study confirms that the microbialites were formed in the dysoxicanoxic shallow water. | SONG HuYue TONG JinNan TIAN Li SONG HaiJun QIU HaiOu ZHU YuanYuan Thomas ALGEO | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,5: | 0 |
