1Multi-omics analyses of 398 foxtail millet accessions reveal genomic regions associated with domestication,metabolite traits,and antiinflammatory effects显示文摘Foxtail millet(Setaria italica),which was domesticatedfromthewild speciesgreenfoxtail(Setaria viridis),isa richsource of phytonutrientsfor humans.To evaluate how breeding changed themetabolome offoxtail millet grains,we generated and analyzed the datasets encompassing the genomes,transcriptomes,metabolomes,and anti-inflammatory indices from 398 foxtail millet accessions.We identified hundreds of common variants that influence numerous secondary metabolites.We observed tremendous differences in natural variations of the metabolites and their underlying genetic architectures between distinct sub-groups of foxtail millet.Furthermore,we found that the selection of the gene alleles associated with yellow grains led to altered profiles of metabolites such as carotenoids and endogenous phytohormones.Using CRiSPR-mediated genome editing wevalidated the function of PHYTOENE SYNTHASE1(PSY1)gene in affecting milletgrain colorand quality.Interestingly,our in vitro cell inflammation assays showed that 83 metabolites in millet grains have anti-inflammatory effects.Taken together,ourmulti-omics study illustrates how the breeding history of foxtail millet has shaped its metabolite profile.The datasets we generated in this study also provide important resources for further understanding how millet grain quality is affected by different metabolites,laying the foundations for future millet genetic research and metabolome-assisted improvement.Xukai Li Jianhua Gao Jingyi Song Kai Guo Siyu Hou Xingchun Wang Qiang He Yanyan Zhang Yakun Zhang Yulu Yang Jiaoyan Tang Hailang Wang Staffan Persson Mingquan Huang Lishuai Xu Linlin Zhong Dongqin Li Yongming Liu Hua Wu Xianmin Diao Peng Chen Xiaowen Wang Yuanhuai Han 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,8:8
2Selective electrochemical production of hydrogen peroxide at zigzag edges of exfoliated molybdenum telluride nanoflakes显示文摘The two-electron reduction of molecular oxygen represents an effective strategy to enable the green,mild and on-demand synthesis of hydrogen peroxide.Its practical viability,however,hinges on the development of advanced electrocatalysts,preferably composed of non-precious elements,to selectively expedite this reaction,particularly in acidic medium.Our study here introduces 2H-MoTe2 for the first time as the efficient non-precious-metal-based electrocatalyst for the electrochemical production ofhydrogen peroxide in acids.We show that exfoliated 2H-MoTe2 nanoflakes have high activity(onset overpotential〜140 mV and large mass activity of 27 A g^-1 at 0.4 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode),great selectivity(H2O2 percentage up to 93%)and decent stability in 0.5 M H2SO4.Theoretical simulations evidence that the high activity and selectivity of 2H-MoTe2 arise from the proper binding energies of HOO*and O*at its zigzag edges that jointly favor the two-electron reduction instead of the four-electron reduction of molecular oxygen.Xuan Zhao Yu Wang Yunli Da Xinxia Wang Tingting Wang Mingquan Xu Xiaoyun He Wu Zhou Yafei Li Jonathan NColeman Yanguang Li 2020National Science Review2020,7,8:3
3Effects of Angelica sinensis extracts on lipid oxidation in fish feeds and growth performance of juvenile Jian carp(Cyprinus carpio var. Jian)显示文摘The study was to explore the effect of the extracts of Angelica sinensis(EAs) on lipid oxidation in fish feeds compared with ethoxyquin(EQ) and the effect of dietary EAs on growth performance of carp(Cyprinus carpio var. Jian). Firstly, fish feeds were respectively added with EQ, and ethyl ether extract ethyl acetate extract(EAE), acetone extract, ethanol extract(EE) and aqueous extract(AQE) of Angelica sinensis, except for the control. The results showed that EAs and EQ inhibited lipid oxidation in fish feed(P < 0.05). Of all of the examined EAs, EAE showed the strongest protective effects against lipid oxidation(P < 0.05). Moreover, EAE at high concentrations showed a stronger effect on lipid oxidation compared with EQ(P < 0.05). Then, 7 experimental diets respectively supplemented with 0.0, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0 g/kg of EAE were fed to the respective treatment groups for 30 d. Four replicates were performed for each treatment group; 20 carp(mean weight: 12.10 ± 0.13 g) were in each replicate. The result indicated that dietary EAE improved the growth performance in carp(P < 0.05). The appropriate con centration of EAE for carp growth was estimated to be 3.643 g/kg diet. 8Bandgap opening in MoTe2 thin flakes induced by surface oxidation显示文摘Recently,the layered transition metal dichalcogenide 1T′-MoTe2 has generated considerable interest due to their superconducting and non-trivial topological properties.Here,we present a systematic study on 1T′-MoTe2 single-crystal and exfoliated thin-flakes by means of electrical transport,scanning tunnelling microscope(STM)measurements and band structure calculations.For a bulk sample,it exhibits large magneto-resistance(MR)and Shubnikov–de Hass oscillations inρxx and a series of Hall plateaus inρxy at low temperatures.Meanwhile,the MoTe2 thin films were intensively investigated with thickness dependence.For samples,without encapsulation,an apparent transition from the intrinsic metallic to insulating state is observed by reducing thickness.In such thin films,we also observed a suppression of the MR and weak anti-localization(WAL)effects.We attributed these effects to disorders originated from the extrinsic surface chemical reaction,which is consistent with the density functional theory(DFT)calculations and in-situ STM results.In contrast to samples without encapsulated protection,we discovered an interesting superconducting transition for those samples with hexagonal Boron Nitride(h-BN)film protection.Our results indicate that the metallic or superconducting behavior is its intrinsic state,and the insulating behavior is likely caused by surface oxidation in few layer 1T’-MoTe2 flakes.Yuan Gan Jiyuan Liang Chang-woo Cho Si Li Yanping Guo Xiaoming Ma Xuefeng Wu Jinsheng Wen Xu Du Mingquan He Chang Liu Shengyuan A.Yang Kedong Wang Liyuan Zhang 2020Frontiers of physics2020,15,3:0
