| 1 | The effects of probiotics administration on the milk production,milk components and fecal bacteria microbiota of dairy cows显示文摘Probiotics administration can improve host health.This study aims to determine the effects of probiotics(Lactobacillus casei Zhang and Lactobacillus plantarum P-8) administration on milk production,milk functional components,milk composition,and fecal microbiota of dairy cows.Variations in the fecal bacteria microbiota between treatments were assessed based on 16 S rRNA profiles determined by Pac Bio single molecule real-time sequencing technology.The probiotics supplementation significantly increased the milk production and the contents of milk immunoglobulin G(IgG),lactoferrin(LTF),lysozyme(LYS)and lactoperoxidase(LP),while the somatic cell counts(SCC) significantly decreased(P < 0.01).However,no significant difference was found in the milk fat,protein and lactose contents(P > 0.05).Although the probiotics supplementation did not change the fecal bacteria richness and diversity,significantly more rumen fermentative bacteria(Bacteroides,Roseburia,Ruminococcus,Clostridium,Coprococcus and Dorea) and beneficial bacteria(Faecalibacterium prausnitzii) were found in the probiotics treatment group.Meanwhile,some opportunistic pathogens e.g.Bacillus cereus,Cronobacter sakazakii and Alkaliphilus oremlandii,were suppressed.Additionally,we found some correlations between the milk production,milk components and fecal bacteria.To sum up,our study demonstrated the beneficial effects of probiotics application in improving the quality and quantity of cow milk production. | Haiyan Xu Weiqiang Huang Qiangchuan Hou Lai-yu Kwok Zhihong Sun Huimin Ma Feiyan Zhao Yuan-Kun Lee Heping Zhang | 2017 | Science Bulletin2017,62,11: | 21 |
| 2 | Effect of dietary interventions on the intestinal microbiota of Mongolian hosts显示文摘The gut microbiota of Mongolian hosts has distinctive characteristics due to their meat- and dairyoriented daily diets and unique genotype.The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of switching from the typical high protein and fat Mongolian diets to carbohydrate-rich meals composed principally of wheat,rice and naked oats on the host gut microbiota within 3 weeks.Our study took the advantage of the long sequence reads produced by the Pac Bio single molecule real-time sequencing technology to enable the profiling of subjects' gut microbiota communities along the diet intervention to the species precision.We found that the bacterial richness and diversity decreased apparently along the diet intervention.During the diet intervention,the gut microbiota composition displayed no significant difference at phylum level(with major phyla of Firmicutes,Bacteroidetes,Tenericutes and Proteobacteria).The relative abundances of some genera such as Bacteroidetes,Faecalibacterium,Roseburia,Alistipes,Streptococcus,and Oscillospira were significantly altered after the diet switching started.Notably,significant changes were also observed in the proportions of the species Bacteroides dorei,Bacteroides fragilis,Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron,Ruminococcus albus,Ruminococcus faecis,Roseburia faecis and Eubacterium ventriosum.These results have demonstrated that diet and host gut microbiota is closely linked. | Jing Li Haiyan Xu Zhihong Sun Qiangchuan Hou Lai-Yu Kwok Wuri Laga Yanjie Wang Huimin Ma Zhongjie Yu Bilige Menghe Heping Zhang | 2016 | Science Bulletin2016,61,20: | 14 |

| 5 | Long-term effects of mowing on plasticity and allometry of Leymus chinensis in a temperate semi-arid grassland,China显示文摘Mowing is an important land management practice for natural semi-arid regions.A growing body of empirical evidence shows that different mowing regimes affect the functioning of grassland ecosystems.However,the responses of plant functional traits to long-term mowing and their allometric scaling under long-term mowing are poorly understood.For a better understanding of the effects of mowing on grassland ecosystems,we analyzed the allometric traits of leaves and stems of Leymus chinensis(Trin.) Tzvel.,a dominant grass species in eastern Eurasian temperate grassland,at different mowing intensities(no clipping,clipping once every two years,once a year and twice a year).Experiments were conducted on plots established over a decade ago in a typical steppe of Xilinhot,Inner Mongolia,China.Results showed that most of the functional traits of L.chinensis decreased with the increased mowing intensity.The responses of leaves and stems to long-term mowing were asymmetric,in which leaf traits were more stable than stem traits.Also significant allometric relationships were found among most of the plant functional traits under the four mowing treatments.Sensitive traits of L.chinensis(e.g.leaf length and stem length) were primary indicators associated with aboveground biomass decline under high mowing intensity.In conclusion,the allometric growth of different functional traits of L.chinensis varies with different long-term mowing practices,which is likely to be a strategy used by the plant to adapt to the mowing disturbances. | LI Xiliang HOU Xiangyang REN Weibo Taogetao BAOYIN LIU Zhiying Warwick BADGERY LI Yaqiong WU Xinhong XU Huimin | 2016 | Journal of Arid Land2016,8,6: | 7 |

Solid carbon spheres, 60 nm carbon shells and 500 nm carbon shells were prepared and evaluated for adsorption and desorption of REEs. The adsorption performance of carbon nano-shells for REEs was far superior to the solid carbon spheres. In addition, the effect of acidity on the adsorption and desorption properties was discussed. | 8 | Laser-induced Janus graphene/poly(p-phenylene benzobisoxazole)fabrics with intrinsic flame retardancy as flexible sensors and breathable electrodes for fire-fighting field显示文摘Conventional firefighting clothing and fire masks can protect firemen’s safety to a certain extent,whereas cannot perceive environmental hazards and monitor their physical status in real time.Herein,we fabricated two kinds of Janus graphene/poly(pphenylene benzobisoxazole)(PBO)fabrics by laser direct writing approach and evaluated their performance as intelligent firefighting clothes and fire masks.The results showed that the Janus graphene/PBO fabrics were virtually non-combustible and achieved the highest thermal protection time of 18.91 s ever reported in flame,which is due to the intrinsic flame-retardant nature of PBO fibers.The graphene/PBO woven fabrics-based sensor showed good repeatability and stability in human motion monitoring and NO_(2)gas detection.Furthermore,the piezoelectric fire mask was assembled with graphene/PBO nonwoven fabric as electrode layer and polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)electrostatic direct writing film as piezoelectric layer.The filtration efficiency of the fire mask reaches 95%for PM_(2.5)and 100%for PM_(3.0),indicating its effective filtration capability for smoke particles in fires.The respiratory resistance of the piezoelectric fire mask(46.8 Pa)was lower than that of commercial masks(49 Pa),showing that it has good wearing comfort.Besides,the piezoelectric fire mask can be sensitive to the speed and intensity of human breathing,which is essential for indirectly reflecting the health of the human body.Consequently,this work provides a facile approach to fabricate next-generation intrinsic flame-retardant smart textiles for smart firefighting. | Yu Luo Yaping Miao Huimin Wang Kai Dong Lin Hou Yanyan Xu Weichun Chen Yao Zhang Yingying Zhang Wei Fan | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,5: | 2 |
| 9 | Effectiveness of Qingre Lishi Yishen decoction on the glomerular fibrosis of immunoglobulin A nephropathy in a rat’s model显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of the clinical effective prescription of Qingre Lishi Yishen decoction(QRLS) on the activation of mesangial cells in immunoglobulin A nephropathy(IgAN) rats.METHODS: IgAN rat’s model was established by combine with intragastric administration of bovine serum albumin(BSA) + intravenous injection of lipopolysaccharide(LPS) by + subcutaneous injection of carbon tetrachloride(CCL4). Then the animals were randomly divided into four groups: control group, IgAN model group, IgAN model with Valsartan(Val) treatment group and IgAN model with QRLS treatment group. To observe the indexes of 24-h urine protein, renal function, deposition of immune complexes, expression of activation factor, fibrosis marker and inflammatory cytokines in four different groups.RESULTS: The Val or QRLS treatment group:(a) it reduced the immune complexes deposition of IgA in glomerular mesangial and inhibited mesangial cell proliferation;(b) it decreased the expression of smooth muscle actin(α-SMA), fibronectin(FN) and tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α).CONCLUSION: The study suggested that QRLS ameliorate renal structure and function in IgAN rat’s model. | 13 | Genome-wide profiling of histone H3 lysine 27 trimethylation and its modification in response to chilling stress in grapevine leaves显示文摘Histone H3 lysine 27 trimethylation(H3K27me3) is a histone modification associated with transcriptional repression. However, insights into the genome-wide pattern of H3K27me3 in grapevines are limited. Here, anti-H3K27 chromatin immunoprecipitation(ChIP), high-throughput sequencing, and transcriptome analysis were performed using leaves of Vitis amurensis. The leaves were treated at 4°C for 2 h and 24 h and used to investigate changes in H3K27me3 under chilling treatment. The results show that H3K27me3 is well-distributed both in gene regions(-50%) and in the intergenic region(-50%) in the grapevine genome(Vitis vinifera ‘Pinot Noir PN40024'). H3K27me3 was found to be localized in8 368 annotated gene regions in all detected samples(leaves at normal temperature and under chilling treatments) and mainly enriched in gene bodies with the adjacent promoter and downstream areas. The short-term chilling treatments(4°C for 2 h) induced 2 793 gains and 305losses in H3K27me3 modification. Subsequently, 97.3% of the alterations were restored to original levels after 24 h treatment. The ChIP-qPCR for five differential peaks showed similar results to the data for ChIP-seq, indicating that the chilling-induced H3K27me3 modification is reliable.Integrative analysis of transcriptome and ChIP-seq results showed that the expression of H3K27me3 target genes was significantly lower than those of non-target genes, indicating transcriptional repression of H3K27me3 in grapevine leaves. Furthermore, histone methylation alterations were detected in 82 genes and were related to either repression or activation of their expression during chilling stress. | 14 | The PtoTCP20-miR396d-PtoGRF15 module regulates secondary vascular development in Populus显示文摘Secondary vascular development is a key biological characteristic of woody plants and the basis of wood formation.Our understanding of gene expression regulation and dynamic changes in microRNAs(miRNAs)during secondary vascular development is still limited.Here we present an integrated analysis of the miRNA and mRNA transcriptome of six phase-specific tissues-the shoot apex,procambium,primary vascular tissue,cambium,secondary phloem,and secondary xylem-in Populus tomentosa.Several novel regulatory modules,including the PtoTCP20-miR396d-PtoGRF15 module,were identified during secondary vascular development in Populus.A series of biochemical and molecular experiments confirmed that PtoTCP20 activated transcription of the miR396d precursor gene and that miR396d targeted PtoGRF15 to downregulate its expression.Plants overexpressing miR396d(35S:miR396d)showed enhanced secondary growth and increased xylem production.Conversely,during the transition from primary to secondary vascular development,plants with downregulated PtoTCP20expression(PtoTCP20-SRDX),downregulated miR396 expression(35S:STTM396),and PtoGRF15 overexpression(35S:PtoGRF15)showed delayed secondary growth.Novel regulatory modules were identified by integrated analysis of the miRNA and mRNA transcriptome,and the regulatory role of the PtoTCP20-miR396d-PtoGRF15 signaling cascade in secondary vascular development was validated in Populus,providing information to support improvements in forest cultivation and wood properties. | Lingyan Wang Jie Hou Huimin Xu Yufei Zhang Runzhou Huang Donghui Wang Xin-Qiang He | 2023 | Plant Communications2023,4,2: | 1 |
