| 3 | Properties of High Basicity Mold Fluxes for Peritectic Steel Slab Casting显示文摘In high speed continuous casting of peritectic steel slabs,mold fluxes with high basicity are required for less surface defect product.However,the basicity of remaining liquid slag film tends to decrease in casting process because of the crystallization of 3CaO·2SiO2·CaF2.Thus,a way is put forward to improve mold fluxes' properties by raising the original basicity.In order to confirm the possibility of this method,the effect of rising original basicity on the properties of mold fluxes is discussed.Properties of high fluorine based mold fluxes with different basicities and contents of CaF2,Na2O,and MgO were measured,respectively.Then,properties of higher basicity mold fluxes were discussed and compared with traditional ones.The results show that increasing the basicity index can improve the melting and flow property of mold fluxes.With the increasing basicity,crystallization rate of mold fluxes increases obviously and crystallization temperature tends to decrease when the basicity exceeds 1.35.The method presented before is proved as a potential way to resolve the contradiction between horizontal heat transfer controlling and solidified shell lubricating for peritectic steel slab casting.But further study on improving the flow property of liquid slag is needed.This work can be used to guide mold fluxes design for high speed continuous casting of peritectic steel slabs. | LONG Xiao HE Sheng-ping XU Jian-fei HUO Xu-ling WANG Qian | 2012 | Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2012,19,7: | 9 |
| 4 | Chemical characteristics of precipitation at Nanping Mangdang Mountain in eastern China during spring显示文摘To study the characteristics of precipitation in eastern China,an automatic sampler was used to collect rainwater samples from 19 precipitation events at Mangdang Mountain,Nanping City,Fujiang Province,in the spring of 2009.We used ion chromatography to analyze the ionic components and concentrations,and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) to analyze element compositions and contents.The results demonstrated remarkable acidic characteristics:in more than 80% of precipitation events the pH was less than 5.6,with an average of 4.81.Mass concentration results showed SO 4 2 was the main anionic component (36.2% of the total anion mass),while NH 4+ was the main cationic component (47.7% of the total cation mass) and main ion for acidity neutralization in the rainwater.Organic acid content accounted for 30.9% of total anion mass.The main trace metals were Ca,K,and Na.The SO 4 2/NO 3 ratio was 1.4,indicating that precipitation in this region was influenced by complex air pollution-the product of individual coal-burning combined with vehicle exhaust pollution.Correlation analysis of the chemical composition of the precipitation indicated that acidity in this region was determined by a combination of all acidic and neutralization ions rather than any single ion component.The results also showed that Na+ and Cl contributions were mainly by seawater;Mg 2+ by seawater and crustal materials;the NH 4+,K+,Ca 2+,NO 3 and SO 4 2 by anthropogenic sources;the trace metals were from the Earth's crust;and organic acids were potentially from combustion of biomass. | Yanli Cheng Ying Liu Mingqun Huo Qian Sun Huixiang Wang Zhongming Chen Yuhua Bai | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,8: | 8 |

| 6 | Comparison of yield traits in rice among three mechanized planting methods in a rice-wheat rotation system显示文摘Understanding the differences in yield traits of rice among pothole seedling of mechanical transplanting(PSMT), carpet seedling of mechanical transplanting(CSMT) and mechanical direct seeding(MDS) is of great importance not only for rice scientists but also for rice farmers to develop a high-yield production system under mechanical conditions in a rice-wheat rotation system. However, such traits are yet to be studied among rice varieties of japonica-indica hybrid rice(JIHR), japonica conventional rice(JCR) and indica hybrid rice(IHR). Field experiments were conducted in 2014 and 2015, where six cultivars of the three rice types JIHR, JCR and IHR were grown individually with PSMT, CSMT and MDS methods, under respective managements for each method to achieve the maximum attainable yield. Results showed that(i) the PSMT significantly increased grain yield of JIHR by 22.0 and 7.1%, of JCR by 15.6 and 3.7% and of IHR by 22.5 and 7.4%, compared to MDS and CSMT on average across the two years, respectively. The highest yield was produced by the combination of JIHR and PSMT;(ii) high yield under PSMT was mainly attributed to large sink capacity and high-efficient dry matter accumulation. With sufficient panicles per hectare, the increase of spikelet number per panicle, especially the increase in spikelet number of the secondary rachis-branches was determined to be the optimal approach for developing a large sink capacity for rice under PSMT. The optimal tillers development, large leaf area index at heading stage, and high leaf area duration, crop growth rate and net assimilation rate during grain-filling phase could be the cause of sufficient dry matter accumulation for rice under PSMT;(iii) moreover, the PSMT favored plant growth as well as enriched the stems plus sheaths during grain-filling phase, as compared with CSMT and MDS. | 7 | Microbial bioavailability of dissolved organic nitrogen(DON) in the sediments of Lake Shankou,Northeastern China显示文摘Dissolved organic nitrogen(DON)extracted from Lake Shankou sediments using KCl was isolated into hydrophobic and hydrophilic fractions.The bioavailabilities of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic fractions to three types of bacterial communities collected from sediments,activated sludge and compost products were examined.The DON recoveries obtained by DAX-8 and cation exchange resins treatment were 96.17% ± 1.58% and 98.14% ±0% for the samples obtained from N4 and N14 stations,respectively.After 25 days of incubation at 25°C,most DON(59% to 96%)was degraded.Hydrophilic DON exhibited a higher reduction rate than hydrophobic DON during the growth phase.Untreated wastewater from Changshuihe town was the main degradable DON source to station N4,and 93% of hydrophilic DON and 80% of hydrophobic DON were degraded.Station N14 received a large amount of refractory DON from forest soils and exhibited DON degradation rates of 82% and 71% for the hydrophilic and hydrophobic fractions,respectively.Amino acid contents and fluorescence intensities were also analyzed.Approximately 27% to 74% of amino acids were taken up by day 5,and their concentration gradually increased in the following days due to the decomposition of dissolved proteins.Parallel factor analysis resulted in identification of tryptophan-like proteins,tyrosine-like proteins and FA-like substances.During the growth phase,40%–51% of the tryptophan-like proteins were taken up by bacteria,and the accumulation of tyrosine-like proteins was attributed to the release of biotic substances.The concentration of the FA-like substances decreased due to microbial decomposition. | Mingzhou Su Jingtian Zhang Shouliang Huo Beidou Xi Fei Hua Fengyu Zan Guangren Qian Jianyong Liu | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,4: | 5 |
| 8 | Effect of side deep placement of nitrogen on yield and nitrogen use efficiency of single season late japonica rice显示文摘Side deep placement of nitrogen plays an important role in improving rice yield and nitrogen use efficiency.Few studies have examined the effects of reducing the times of nitrogen(RTN)application and reducing the nitrogen rate(RNR)of application on rice yield and nitrogen use efficiency under side deep placement of nitrogen in paddy fields.Therefore,a field experiment of RNT and RNR treatments was conducted with nine fertilization modes during the 2018–2019 rice growing seasons in a rice–wheat cropping system of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River,China.Rice yield and nitrogen use efficiency were investigated under side deep placement of nitrogen.We found that under the same nitrogen application rate,the yield of RTN3 increased by 9.64 and 10.18%in rice varieties NJ9108 and NJ5718,respectively,compared with the farmers’fertilizer practices(FFP).The nitrogen accumulation of RTN3 was the highest at heading stage,at 11.30 t ha^(–1)across 2018 and 2019.Under the same nitrogen application rate,the N agronomic use efficiency(NAE),N physiological efficiency(NPE)and N recovery efficiency(NRE)of RTN3 were 8.1–21.28%,8.51–41.76%and 0.28–14.52%higher than those of the other fertilization modes,respectively.RNR led to decreases in SPAD value,leaf area index(LAI),dry matter accumulation,nitrogen accumulation,and nitrogen use efficiency.These results suggest that RTN3 increased rice yield and nitrogen use efficiency under the side deep placement of nitrogen,and RNR1 could achieve the goals of saving cost and increasing resource use efficiency.Two fertilization modes RTN3 and RNR1 both could achieve the dual goals of increasing grain yield and resource use efficiency and thus are worth further application and investigation. | ZHAO Can HUANG Heng QIAN Zi-hui JIANG Heng-xin LIU Guang-ming XU Ke HU Ya-jie DAI Qigen HUO Zhong-yang | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2021,20,6: | 5 |
| 9 | Association between serum uric acid and large-nerve fiber dysfunction in type 2 diabetes:a cross-sectional study显示文摘Background:Large-nerve fiber dysfunction,as assessed by vibration perception threshold (VPT) predicts risks of ulceration,amputation,and mortality in diabetes.Serum uric acid (UA) is closely associated with various metabolic disorders,especially diabetes.Thus,we sought to investigate the clinical relevance of UA to large-nerve fiber dysfunction,among patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D).Methods:Medical records of consecutive patients with T2D who were admitted to Beijing Friendship Hospital Pinggu Campus between May 2014 and December 2016 were collected.Data for the 824 eligible patients included in the final analysis were extracted using a structured form.A VPT value ≥15 in either foot was defined as abnormal.We compared the clinical characteristics between patients with abnormal VPT and those with normal VPT (VPT value <15 in both feet) in the overall population and in gender subgroups.Logistic regression analysis was performed to explore the association of abnormal VPT with UA level.One-way analysis of variance was used to compare VPT values across four UA quartiles.Results:UA levels were significantly lower in T2D patients with abnormal VPT than in those with normal VPT (294.5 ± 84.0 vs.314.9 ± 92.8 μmol/L,P<0.01),especially among male patients (311.7 ± 85.2 vs.336.9 ± 89.6 μmol/L,P<0.01).From the logistic regression analysis,hyperuricemia (males >420 μmol/L;females >360 μmol/L) was associated with a reduced risk of abnormal VPT (odds ratio [OR],0.60;95% confidence interval [CI],0.39–0.91;P<0.05).This association was robust in male patients (OR,0.43;95% CI,0.24–0.76;P<0.01) but not in female patients (OR,0.92;95% CI,0.47–1.82;P = 0.816),even after adjustment for confounding factors.For the younger male subgroup (age <65 years),VPT values decreased as the UA level increased (P for trend = 0.002),but this trend was not significant in older male subgroup (age ≥65 years;P for trend = 0.400).Conclusions:Low serum UA levels showed a significant association with an increased risk of large-nerve fiber dysfunction in male patients with T2D,but not in female patients with T2D.In addition,in only the younger subgroup of male patients (<65 years),lower levels of UA also correlated with higher VPT values. | Tian-Nan Jiang Yu-Feng Li Li-Li Huo Qian Zhang Lian-Ying Wang Cui-Ling Zhao Li-Ge Liu | 2019 | Chinese Medical Journal2019,,9: | 4 |

| 12 | Algal uptake of dissolved organic nitrogen in wastewater treatment plants显示文摘The algal uptake of dissolved organic nitrogen(DON) in the anaerobic–anoxic–oxic(A_2O)process was investigated in this study. Anaerobic, aerobic and effluent DON samples from two wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs) were separated into hydrophilic and hydrophobic fractions using a DAX-8 resin coupled with an anion exchange resin and a nanofiltration(NF)pretreatment. Hydrophilic DON accounted for 66.66%–88.74% of the entire DON for the two plants evaluated. After a 15-day incubation, 16.95%–91.75% DON was bioavailable for algal growth, and untreated samples exhibited higher DON bioavailability, with 52.83% DON average uptake rates, compared with the hydrophilic and hydrophobic fractions(45.53% and 44.40%, respectively) because the pretreatment caused the inorganic salt to be resistant to algae. Anaerobic untreated samples, hydrophilic fractions and hydrophobic fractions showed higher DON reduction rates and higher biomass accumulation compared with the other DON fractions due to the decomposition of resistant organics by anaerobic and anoxic bacteria.DON in aerobic and effluent samples of plant A was more bioavailable than that of plant B with usages of 27.49%–55.26% DON. DON bioavailability in the anaerobic–anoxic–oxic process decreased in the following order: anaerobic > effluent > aerobic. The DON contents were reduced after anaerobic treatment in the two plants. | 17 | Cholesterol homeostasis regulated by ABCA1 is critical for retinal ganglion cell survival显示文摘Genome-wide association studies have suggested a link between primary open-angle glaucoma and the function of ABCA1.ABCA1 is a key regulator of cholesterol efflux and the biogenesis of high-density lipoprotein(HDL) particles. Here, we showed that the POAG risk allele near ABCA1 attenuated ABCA1 expression in cultured cells. Consistently, POAG patients exhibited lower ABCA1 expression, reduced HDL, and higher cholesterol in white blood cells. Ablation of Abca1 in mice failed to form HDL, leading to elevated cholesterol levels in the retina. Counting retinal ganglion cells(RGCs) by using an artificial intelligence(AI) program revealed that Abca1-deficient mice progressively lost RGCs with age. Single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq) revealed aberrant oxidative phosphorylation in the Abca1-/-retina, as well as activation of the mTORC1 signaling pathway and suppression of autophagy. Treatment of Abca1-/-mice using atorvastatin reduced the cholesterol level in the retina,thereby improving metabolism and protecting RGCs from death. Collectively, we show that lower ABCA1 expression and lower HDL are risk factors for POAG. Accumulated cholesterol in the Abca1-/-retina causes profound aberrant metabolism, leading to a POAG-like phenotype that can be prevented by atorvastatin. | 19 | Temperature and solar radiation utilization of rice for yield formation with different mechanized planting methods in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River,China显示文摘Several studies have demonstrated the effect of planting methods on rice yield, but information on the climate resources is limited. This study aims to reveal the effects of planting methods on climate resources associated with rice yield in a rice-wheat rotation system in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, China. Field experiments were conducted in 2014 and 2015 with two japonica, two indica hybrid, and two japonica-indica hybrid varieties grown under three mechanized planting methods: carpet seedling of mechanical transplanting(CT), mechanical direct seeding(DS), and pot-hole seedling of mechanical transplanting(PT). The rice yield and total dry matter under PT were greater than those under CT and DS methods. Besides, the entire growth duration and daily production showed significant positive relations with rice yield. Compared with CT and DS, the effective accumulated temperature and cumulative solar radiation of rice under PT were higher in phenological phases. In addition, the dry matter/effective accumulated temperature and solar energy utilization of rice under CT and DS were higher during vegetative phase and lower during reproductive and grain filling phases in contrast to PT. The mean daily temperature and mean daily solar radiation in the entire growth duration showed significant positive correlation with rice yield, total dry matter, and harvest index. This study demonstrated that when the mean daily temperature is <25.1°C in vegetative phase and >20.1°C in grain filling phase, rice yield could be increased by selecting mechanized planting methods. Most varieties under PT method exhibited high yield and climate resources use efficiency compared with CT and DS. | 20 | Rapid inactivation of multidrug-resistant bacteria and enhancement of osteoinduction via titania nanotubes grafted with polyguanidines显示文摘The rapid in situ inhibition of bacterial contamination and subsequent infection without inducing drug resistance is highly vital for the successful implantation and long-term service of titanium(Ti)-based orthopedic implants.However,the instability and potential cytotoxicity of current coatings have deterred their clinical practice.In this study,anodic oxidized titania nanotubes(TNT)were modified with antibacterial polyhexamethylene guanidine(PG)with the assistance of 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid.Interestingly,the prepared TNT-PG coating exhibited superior in vitro antibacterial activity than flat Ti-PG coating and effectively killed typical pathogens such as Escherichia coli and superbug methicillinresistant Staphylococcus aureus with above 4-log reduction(>99.99%killed)in only 5 min.TNT-PG coating also exerted excellent hemocompatibility with red blood cells and nontoxicity toward mouse pre-osteoblasts(MC3 T3-E1)in 1 week of coculture.In addition,the efficient in vivo anti-infective property of this coating was observed in a rat subcutaneous infection model.More importantly,TNT-PG coating improved the expression of alkaline phosphatase and enhanced the extracellular matrix mineralization of pre-osteoblasts,denoting its osteoinductive capacity.This versatile TNT-PG coating with excellent antibacterial activity and biocompatibility could be a promising candidate for advanced orthopedic implant applications. | Wei Feng Nian Liu Lingling Gao Qian Zhou Luofeng Yu Xiaoting Ye Jingjing Huo Xiao Huang Peng Li Wei Huang | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,10: | 2 |
