| 1 | Emergence and prevalence of naturally occurring lower virulent African swine fever viruses in domestic pigs in China in 2020显示文摘African swine fever virus(ASFV)has been circulating in China for more than two years,and it is not clear whether the biological properties of the virus have changed.Here,we report on our surveillance of ASFVs in seven provinces of China,from June to December,2020.A total of 22 viruses were isolated and characterized as genotype II ASFVs,with mutations,deletions,insertions,or short-fragment replacement occurring in all isolates compared with Pig/HLJ/2018(HLJ/18),the earliest isolate in China.Eleven isolates had four different types of natural mutations or deletion in the EP402R gene and displayed a nonhemadsorbing(non-HAD)phenotype.Four isolates were tested for virulence in pigs;two were found to be as highly lethal as HLJ/18.However,two non-HAD isolates showed lower virulence but were highly transmissible;infection with 106 TCID50 dose was partially lethal and caused acute or sub-acute disease,whereas 103 TCID50 dose caused non-lethal,sub-acute or chronic disease,and persistent infection.The emergence of lower virulent natural mutants brings greater difficulty to the early diagnosis of ASF and creates new challenges for ASFV control. | Encheng Sun Zhenjiang Zhang Zilong Wang Xijun He Xianfeng Zhang Lulu Wang Wenqing Wang Lianyu Huang Fei Xi Haoyue Huangfu Ghebremedhin Tsegay Hong Huo Jianhong Sun Zhijun Tian Wei Xia Xuewu Yu Fang Li Renqiang Liu Yuntao Guan Dongming Zhao Zhigao Bu | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,5: | 46 |

| 4 | Antioxidant Effect of Human Selenium-containing Single-chain Fv in Rat Cardiac Myocytes显示文摘Reactive oxygen species(ROS) plays a key role in human heart diseases. Glutathione peroxidase(GPX) functions as an antioxidant as it catalyzes the reduction of hydroperoxide. In order to investigate the antioxidant effect of human selenium-containing single-chain Fv(Se-scFv-B3), a new mimic of GPX, a model system of hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)-induced rat cardiac myocyte damage was established. The cardiac myocyte damage was characterized in terms of cell viability, lipid peroxidation, cell membrane integrity, and intracellular H2O2 level. The Se-scFv-B3 significantly reduced H2O2-induced cell damage as shown by the increase of cell viability, the decline of malondialdehyde(MDA) production, lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) release, and intracellular H2O2 level. | 8 | Microbial bioavailability of dissolved organic nitrogen(DON) in the sediments of Lake Shankou,Northeastern China显示文摘Dissolved organic nitrogen(DON)extracted from Lake Shankou sediments using KCl was isolated into hydrophobic and hydrophilic fractions.The bioavailabilities of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic fractions to three types of bacterial communities collected from sediments,activated sludge and compost products were examined.The DON recoveries obtained by DAX-8 and cation exchange resins treatment were 96.17% ± 1.58% and 98.14% ±0% for the samples obtained from N4 and N14 stations,respectively.After 25 days of incubation at 25°C,most DON(59% to 96%)was degraded.Hydrophilic DON exhibited a higher reduction rate than hydrophobic DON during the growth phase.Untreated wastewater from Changshuihe town was the main degradable DON source to station N4,and 93% of hydrophilic DON and 80% of hydrophobic DON were degraded.Station N14 received a large amount of refractory DON from forest soils and exhibited DON degradation rates of 82% and 71% for the hydrophilic and hydrophobic fractions,respectively.Amino acid contents and fluorescence intensities were also analyzed.Approximately 27% to 74% of amino acids were taken up by day 5,and their concentration gradually increased in the following days due to the decomposition of dissolved proteins.Parallel factor analysis resulted in identification of tryptophan-like proteins,tyrosine-like proteins and FA-like substances.During the growth phase,40%–51% of the tryptophan-like proteins were taken up by bacteria,and the accumulation of tyrosine-like proteins was attributed to the release of biotic substances.The concentration of the FA-like substances decreased due to microbial decomposition. | Mingzhou Su Jingtian Zhang Shouliang Huo Beidou Xi Fei Hua Fengyu Zan Guangren Qian Jianyong Liu | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,4: | 5 |

| 12 | Algal uptake of dissolved organic nitrogen in wastewater treatment plants显示文摘The algal uptake of dissolved organic nitrogen(DON) in the anaerobic–anoxic–oxic(A_2O)process was investigated in this study. Anaerobic, aerobic and effluent DON samples from two wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs) were separated into hydrophilic and hydrophobic fractions using a DAX-8 resin coupled with an anion exchange resin and a nanofiltration(NF)pretreatment. Hydrophilic DON accounted for 66.66%–88.74% of the entire DON for the two plants evaluated. After a 15-day incubation, 16.95%–91.75% DON was bioavailable for algal growth, and untreated samples exhibited higher DON bioavailability, with 52.83% DON average uptake rates, compared with the hydrophilic and hydrophobic fractions(45.53% and 44.40%, respectively) because the pretreatment caused the inorganic salt to be resistant to algae. Anaerobic untreated samples, hydrophilic fractions and hydrophobic fractions showed higher DON reduction rates and higher biomass accumulation compared with the other DON fractions due to the decomposition of resistant organics by anaerobic and anoxic bacteria.DON in aerobic and effluent samples of plant A was more bioavailable than that of plant B with usages of 27.49%–55.26% DON. DON bioavailability in the anaerobic–anoxic–oxic process decreased in the following order: anaerobic > effluent > aerobic. The DON contents were reduced after anaerobic treatment in the two plants. | 18 | In Vitro Assessment of Probiotic Potential of Lactobacilus acidophilus and Antagonistic Activity Against Escherichia coli O157:H7显示文摘The antagonistic activity of Lactobacillus acidophilus KLDS1.0901,KLDS1.0902,KLDS1.1003 and NCFM against Escherichia coli O157:H7 were investigated in this study.The culture supernatants of all the L.acidophilus stains showed high bacteriostatic activities against E.coli O157:H7 and the bacteriostatic substances of their Cell-Free Supernatants(CFS)were preliminarily determined from organic acids.The bacteriostatic activity from CFS or viable L.acidophilus against E.coli O157:H7was also assessed by using co-incubation methods,CFS had high bactericidal activity against E.coli O157:H7,no viable E.coli O157:H7 was detected when 5×107 cfu of E.coli O157:H7 was added to 5 m L of CFS and incubated at 37℃for 2 h.However,L.acidophilus themselves had no bacteriostatic activity after directly contacted with E.coli O157:H7.The inhibition E.coli O157:H7adhesion and colonization of L.acidophilus were also investigated based on competition,exclusion and displacement assays.L.acidophilus KLDS1.0901,KLDS1.1003 and NCFM strains were effective to displace E.coli O157:H7 from a Caco-2 cell layer in competition and exclusion assays.However,in displacement assay,all of the strains showed no signifi cant antagonistic activities.Meanwhile,the probiotic potential of L.acidophilus strains was investigated based on adhesion assay to Caco-2 cells and antiinfl ammatory effects by IL-8 produced in Caco-2 cells.The adhesion ability and anti-infl ammatory effects of L.acidophilus strains showed a strain-dependent manner.In general,L.acidophilus KLDS1.0901 and NCFM showed better probiotic potential than KLDS1.0902 and KLDS1.1003.Thus,the use of L.acidophilus KLDS1.0901 and NCFM to prevent or treat of diseases associated induced E.coli O157:H7 in vivo was suggested. | Du Jin-cheng Liu Fei Li Bai-liang Bian Xin Smith Etareri Evivie Xu Min Ding Xiu-yun Huo Gui-cheng | 2017 | Journal of Northeast Agricultural University(English Edition)2017,24,1: | 1 |
