1Calculation of Ecological Footprint Based on Modified Method and Quantitative Analysis of Its Impact Factors——A Case Study of Shanghai显示文摘Ecological footprint(EF) has attracted much attention internationally as a potential indicator for sustainable development.In China,EF has also gained recognition in related fields and disciplines.Moreover,some scholars in these fields have proposed alternative methods to calculate EF and have made some progress.This paper,therefore,begins with the introduction and development of EF in China.However,the established methods of EF calculation hold some limitations,such as indicator variance and result abnormality.In order to resolve those problems,the authors make a further modification considering the demand of EF as a comprehensive indicator:1) More accurate analysis has been done to divide EF into several parts:imported EF,exported EF,and producible EF,which is the solution to the problem of abnormality in original EF results and can explain abnormal phenomena reasonably.2) Considering the actual situa-tion of Shanghai,amended equivalence factor is brought forward and a matrix is formed with equivalence factors.The measure can reduce the deviation between the fact and the results.3) The calculation compares local yield with global average yield to analyze the effects of yields.And based on local yields in different years,the results are more accurate.Finally,the calculation method is applied to calculating EF of Shanghai from 1980 to 2003,and the subsequent detailed analysis is presented.Available data and results suggest a statistically significant correlation coefficient between EF and GDP,population density and urbanization level.Through analyzing the process of calculating EF and its results,it can be seen that EF,as a macro-indicator,can not exactly indicate whether development within a region can meet the re-quests of sustainable development,which can be explained by the fact that the result of EF is impacted greatly by sub-jective factors including national policy,available technology,population,etc.Nevertheless,EF can demonstrate,at least to some degree,the regional status in terms of resources and energy consumption,as well as developmental potential.The calculation of EF,therefore,deserves further research to achieve more far-reaching significance in application.GAO Chengkang JIANG Dahe WANG Dan YAN Jonathan 2006Chinese Geographical Science2006,16,4:4

17On Index System and Quantitative Assessment of Eco-cities:A Case Study on Urban Agglomeration of the Yangtze Delta显示文摘Urban agglomeration of the Yangtze Delta (UAYD), one of the most developed regions of China, has witnessed an increasing prevalence in building ecological cities when the ecological cities are pursued by many modern cities, and great achievements have been made in this regard. It is inevitable, however, that certain problems exist during the construction of ecological city, which include but not limited to non-harmonious development of urban complex ecosystem, and the difficulty in quantifying eco-city construction or incomplete quantification in assessing the construction of present and future eco-city. Based on the analysis on social-economic conditions and regional condi- tions of the UAYD, this paper attempts to set up an index system of eco-cities combining with local characteristics, and to adopt the indices of eco-city, urban harmony, and eco-city colligate to evaluate the ecological level, urban harmonious development and eco-city construction of cities within the UAYD. Results indicate that among 15 cities in UAYD, Suzhou City ranks the highest in terms of eco-city construction, whereas Nantong ranks relatively lower; sustainable eco-city construction is possible only when cities are developed in every respect of harmony.Xiao Yali Jiang Dahe Wang Dan 2007Chinese Journal of Population,Resources and Environment2007,5,3:0
18Molecular characterization of a K+ channel blocker in the scorpion Buthus martensii Karsch显示文摘K+ channel blockers of scorpion venoms are of important value in studyingpharmacology and physiology of specific K+ channel of celis. Based on the amino acid sequences of BmP01 previously characterized as a small-conductance Ca2+-activated K+ channel blocker, two 'back to back' degenarate primers have been designed and synthesized for inverse PCR strategy, its full-length cDNA has been cloned from the venom gland of the Chinese scorpion Buthus martensii. The cDNA is composed of 3 parts: 5’ UTR, oRF and 3’ UTR. The flanking sequence of translation initiation codon ATG is AAAKTGA, which is highly conserved in scorpion Na+ channel toxin and protozoan genes, suggesting that these genes may have followed a common mechanism for translation initiation. The 3’ UTR contains poly(A) signal AATAAA. The open reading frame encodes a precursor of 57 residues with a signal peptide of 28 residues and a mature peptide of 29 residues.
