1Effects of melatonin implantation on cashmere yield,fibre characteristics,duration of cashmere growth as well as growth and reproductive performance of Inner Mongolian cashmere goats显示文摘Background:Exogenous melatonin could induce cashmere growth.However,induced growth of cashmere fleece by melatonin implants cannot be combined with the typical growth,resulting in earlier shedding followed by another cycle of cashmere growth.To address this issue,we examine the effects on the cashmere yield,fibre characteristics,and the growth and reproductive performance of cashmere goats of planned administration of melatonin.Methods:Eighteen half-sib,female goats were assigned to two treatments(n = 9) including a control and a treatment where melatonin(2 mg/kg BW) was implanted at the end of April and end of June.Cashmere growth and shedding were observed for approximately 1 year following implantation.Fibre samples were collected monthly to determine cumulative cashmere length.Initiation and cessation dates for cashmere growth as well as the rate of cashmere growth were calculated.Cashmere yield,weight gain of dam,kidding date,litter size,and birth weight were also recorded.Results:Melatonin implantation increased cashmere yield by 34.5%(control 553.7 g vs.melatonin 745.0 g;P< 0.01),cashmere length by 21.3%(control 95.2 mm vs.melatonin 115.4 mm;P < 0.01),and decreased fibre diameter by 4.4%(control 14.6 μm vs.melatonin 14.0 μm;P < 0.03).In melatonin-treated goats,the average initiation date was earlier than in control goats(May 18,2013 vs.July 2,2013;P< 0.01) but there was a similar cessation date(March 22,2014 vs.March 27,2014).Consequently,the duration of cashmere growth was longer in melatonin-treated goats than in control goats(307 vs.270 days;P< 0.01).The final BW,average daily gain,kidding date,litter size,and birth weight were not influenced by melatonin implantation.Conclusions:These data indicate that melatonin implantation(2 mg/kg BW) on two occasions(late April and June)increased cashmere yield by combining the induced growth of cashmere fleece with the typical growth and decreased the fibre diameter without changing dam growth rate or reproductive performance.Chunhui Duan Jianhai Xu Changmian Sun Zhihai Jia Wei Zhang 2015Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2015,6,4:18
2Enhanced resistance of marine shrimp Exopalamon carincauda Holthuis to WSSV by injecting live VP28-recombinant bacteria显示文摘Recombinant bacteria secreting the transmembrane-truncated region of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) envelope protein VP28 named DhpVB were constructed, using live Escherichia coli as a deliverer and a constitutive secretory expression plasmid as the expression vector. With the ability to deliver recombinant protein products outside, DhpVB could make VP28 directly interact with the shrimp when injected into shrimp. In order to test the protection potential, live DhpVB were injected into the marine shrimp Exopalamon carincauda Holthuis for three times and WSSV challenge was performed twice simultaneously at the last two injections of the bacteria. The results showed that DhpVB displayed statistically significant advantage over bacteria without VP28 after the second challenge with an average RI (Resistance index) of 0.67 ± 0.08, compared with 0.41 ± 0.09 of bacteria without VP28 (P <0.05). 3A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. 5Deletion and down-regulation of SMAD4 gene in colorectal cancers in a Chinese population显示文摘Objective: Colorectal cancer(CRC) is one of the most common types of human cancers. As a tumor suppressor, SMAD4 plays a key role in colorectal carcinogenesis and invasiveness. Copy number variations(CNVs) of the SMAD4 gene have been reported to be associated with cancer pathogenesis in array-based studies in different populations. Here we aimed to investigate the CNVs of the SMAD4 gene in a relatively large number of CRC patients from China. Methods: In the present study, we collected 147 Chinese CRC tumors as well as self-paired normal control tissues. Quantitative PCR was carried out to examine the copy number as well as the m RNA expression of the SMAD4 gene. Results: Our results showed that the copy number deletions of SMAD4 were frequent in a relatively high percentage of CRC samples(34.7%, 51 out of 147). There was a positive correlation between the copy number decrease of SMAD4 and tumor progression in CRCs. 6A hyperbranched polymer-based water-resistant adhesive:Durable underwater adhesion and primer for anchoring anti-fouling hydrogel coating显示文摘Direct deployment of gluing and achieving durable robust adhesion in water is challenging due to difficulty in repelling interface water.This work reports a novel hyperbranched polymer-based water-resistant adhesive(HBPBA)based on Michael addition reaction of multi-vinyl monomers with dopamine and 3-aminophenylboronic acid.Upon encountering water,the HBPBA forms coacervates whose hydrophobic chains aggregate to displace interface water,and meanwhile the catechols exposing outwards contribute to underwater adhesion.The HBPBA can strongly glue diverse substrates including PTFE,PE,PET,ceramic,Ti and stainless steel.The HBPBA can maintain stable adhesion in different environments,such as tap water,simulated sea water,PBS,and a wide range of pH solutions(pH 2 to 10)for 3 months,supposedly due to the complexation of catechol with boronic acid.Intriguingly,HBPBA film can be bonded to the titanium surface as a primer,which firmly anchors the antifouling PNAGAPCBAA hydrogel coating through copolymerization of remaining double bonds in HBPBA and NAGA plus CBAA.The PNAGA-PCBAA hydrogel-modified titanium is biocompatible and shows outstanding antifouling ability both in vitro and in vivo.This work proposes a new strategy for creating underwater deployable and water-resistant adhesives that may find promising applications in engineering and biomedical fields.ZHANG YaHan CUI ChunYan SUN YaGe ZHANG XiaoPing YANG Rong YANG JianHai XIE Fei LIU WenGuang 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,1:1

8Ultralow detection limit and ultrafast response/recovery of the H_(2)gas sensor based on Pd-doped rGO/ZnO-SnO_(2)from hydrothermal synthesis显示文摘Hydrogen(H_(2))sensors are of great significance in hydrogen energy development and hydrogen safety monitoring.However,achieving fast and effective detection of low concentrations of hydrogen is a key problem to be solved in hydrogen sensing.In this work,we combined the excellent gas sensing properties of tin(IV)oxide(SnO_(2))and zinc oxide(ZnO)with the outstanding electrical properties of reduced graphene oxide(rGO)and prepared palladium(Pd)-doped rGO/ZnO-SnO_(2)nanocomposites by a hydrothermal method.The crystal structure,structural morphology,and elemental composition of the material were characterized by FE-SEM,TEM,xRD,XPS,Raman spectroscopy,and N2 adsorption-desorption.The results showed that the Pd-doped ZnO-SnO_(2)composites were successfully synthesized and uniformly coated on the surface of the rGO.The hydrogen gas sensing performance of the sensor prepared in this work was investigated,and the results showed that,compared with the pure Pd-doped ZnO-SnO_(2)sensor,the Pddoped rGO/ZnO-SnO_(2)sensor modified with 3 wt%rGO had better hydrogen(H_(2))-sensing response of 9.4-100 ppm H_(2)at 380℃.In addition,this sensor had extremely low time parameters(the response time and recovery time for 100 ppm H_(2)at 380℃were 4 s and 8 s,respectively)and an extremely low detection limit(50 ppb).Moreover,the sensor exhibited outstanding repeatability and restoration.According to the analysis of the sensing mechanism of this nanocomposite,the enhanced sensing performance of the Pd-doped rGO/ZnO-SnO_(2)sensor is mainly due to the heterostructure of rGO,Zno,and SnO_(2),the excellent electrical and physical properties of rGO and the synergy between rGO and Pd.Xinxiao Zhang Jianhai Sun Kangsong Tang Hairong Wang Tingting Chen Kaisheng Jiang Tianye Zhou Hao Quan Ruihua Guo 2022Microsystems & Nanoengineering2022,8,3:0
9Synergistic coupling of amorphous carbon and graphitic domains toward high-rate and long-life K^(+) storage显示文摘Amorphous carbon materials hold great potential for practical use in potassium-ion batteries(PIBs)due to their abundant resources,low cost and high structural stability.However,given the challenge of sluggish potassiation kinetics,the rate performance of amorphous carbon is severely hindered.Herein,amorphous carbon compounded with graphitic domains(HG-CNTs)was proposed as an advanced anode for PIBs.As directly verified by in situ transmission electron microscopy(TEM),the graphitic domains guarantee fast K-ions transport in the carbon composite at a high current density,while the amorphous carbon shells ensure the structural integrity during potassiation,thus boosting its fast and durable K^(+)storage.As a PlB anode,the HG-CNTs electrode exhibits not only a super-stable long-term cyclability(191.6 mAh g^(-1)at 1 A g^(-1)with almost no capacity decay over 3000 cycles),but also an outstanding rate performance(184.5 mAh g^(-1)at 2 A g^(-1)).Ex situ Raman and TEM results further suggest that the highly reversible structure of HG-CNTs is responsible for its superior electrochemical stability.This work provides helpful insights into the development of carbonaceous electrodes with both high rate capability and long cycle life for PIBs.Hehe Zhang Wangqin Li Jianhai Pan Zhefei Sun Bensheng Xiao Weibin Ye Chengzhi Ke Haowen Gao Yong Cheng Qiaobao Zhang Ming-Sheng Wang 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,10:0
10Study of High Capacitance Ratios CPW MEMS Shunt Switches显示文摘This paper describes a fixed-fixed beam ohmic switch in series with a fixed capacitor as a replacement for a capacitive switch.In this switch,a metal plate deposited on the dielectric ensures perfectly contact with the dielectric layer in the down state.The area size of the metal plate directly influences the capacitance ratio of the switch,as the area size of the metal cap decreases,the capacitance ratio dramatically rises up.The down/up capacitance ratio can exceed 800 times over the conventional designs using the same materials and the equal size.Measurement results show that high capacitance ratio of the switches has a large effect on the isolation,and can actually improve the performance of the switches.Jianhai Sun Dafu Cui 2006稀有金属材料与工程2006,35,A03:0
11Cu-doped SnO_(2)/rGO nanocomposites for ultrasensitive H2S detection at low temperature显示文摘Hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S)detection remains a significant concern and the sensitivity,selectivity,and detection limit must be balanced at low temperatures.Herein,we utilized a facile solvothermal method to prepare Cu-doped SnO_(2)/rGO nanocomposites that have emerged as promising candidate materials for H_(2)S sensors.Characterization of the Cu-SnO_(2)/rGO was carried out to determine its surface morphology,chemical composition,and crystal defects.The optimal sensor response for 10 ppm H_(2)S was~1415.7 at 120℃,which was over 320 times higher than that seen for pristine SnO_(2)CQDs(R_(a)/R_(g)=4.4)at 280℃.Moreover,the sensor material exhibited excellent selectivity,a superior linear working range(R^(2)=0.991,1-150 ppm),a fast response time(31 s to 2 ppm),and ppb-level H_(2)S detection(R_(a)/R_(g)=1.26 to 50 ppb)at 120℃.In addition,the sensor maintained a high performance even at extremely high humidity(90%)and showed outstanding long-term stability.These superb H_(2)S sensing properties were attributed to catalytic sensitization by the Cu dopant and a synergistic effect of the Cu-SnO_(2)and rGO,which offered abundant active sites for O_(2)and H_(2)S absorption and accelerated the transfer of electrons/holes.Tingting Chen Jianhai Sun Ning Xue Wen Wang Zongchang Luo Qinqin Liang Tianye Zhou Hao Quan Haoyuan Cai Kangsong Tang Kaisheng Jiang 2023Microsystems & Nanoengineering2023,9,3:0
12Building better solid-state batteries with silicon-based anodes显示文摘Silicon(Si)-based solid-state batteries(Si-SSBs)are attracting tremendous attention because of their high energy density and unprecedented safety,making them become promising candidates for next-generation energy storage systems.Nevertheless,the commercialization of Si-SSBs is significantly impeded by enormous challenges including large volume variation,severe interfacial problems,elusive fundamental mechanisms,and unsatisfied electrochemical performance.Besides,some unknown electrochemical processes in Si-based anode,solid-state electrolytes(SSEs),and Si-based anode/SSE interfaces are still needed to be explored,while an in-depth understanding of solid–solid interfacial chemistry is insufficient in Si-SSBs.This review aims to summarize the current scientific and technological advances and insights into tackling challenges to promote the deployment of Si-SSBs.First,the differences between various conventional liquid electrolyte-dominated Si-based lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)with Si-SSBs are discussed.Subsequently,the interfacial mechanical contact model,chemical reaction properties,and charge transfer kinetics(mechanical–chemical kinetics)between Si-based anode and three different SSEs(inorganic(oxides)SSEs,organic–inorganic composite SSEs,and inorganic(sulfides)SSEs)are systemically reviewed,respectively.Moreover,the progress for promising inorganic(sulfides)SSE-based Si-SSBs on the aspects of electrode constitution,three-dimensional structured electrodes,and external stack pressure is highlighted,respectively.Finally,future research directions and prospects in the development of Si-SSBs are proposed.Zhefei Sun Quanzhi Yin Haoyu Chen Miao Li Shenghui Zhou Sifan Wen Jianhai Pan Qizheng Zheng Bing Jiang Haodong Liu Kangwoon Kim Jie Li Xiang Han Yan-Bing He Li Zhang Meicheng Li Qiaobao Zhang 2023Interdisciplinary Materials2023,2,4:0
