1Rice CYP703A3, a cytochrome P450 hydroxylase, is essential for development of anther cuticle and pollen exine显示文摘Anther cuticle and pollen exine act as protective envelopes for the male gametophyte or pollen grain, but the mechanism underlying the synthesis of these lipidic polymers remains unclear. Previously, a tapetum‐expressed CYP703A3, a putative cytochrome P450 fatty acid hydroxylase, was shown to be essential for male fertility in rice(Oryza sativa L.). However,the biochemical and biological roles of CYP703A3 has not been characterized. Here, we observed that cyp703a3‐2 caused by one base insertion in CYP703A3 displays defective pollen exine and anther epicuticular layer, which differs from Arabidopsis cyp703a2 in which only defective pollen exine occurs. Consistently, chemical composition assay showed that levels of cutin monomers and wax components were dramatically reduced in cyp703a3‐2 anthers. Unlike the wide range of substrates of Arabidopsis CYP703A2, CYP703A3 functions as an in‐chain hydroxylase only for a specific substrate, lauric acid, preferably generating 7‐hydroxylated lauric acid. Moreover, chromatin immunoprecipitation and expression analyses revealed that the expression of CYP703A3 is directly regulated by Tapetum Degeneration Retardation, a known regulator of tapetum PCD and pollen exine formation. 3A Survey of MRI-Based Brain Tumor Segmentation Methods显示文摘Brain tumor segmentation aims to separate the different tumor tissues such as active cells, necrotic core,and edema from normal brain tissues of White Matter(WM), Gray Matter(GM), and Cerebrospinal Fluid(CSF). MRIbased brain tumor segmentation studies are attracting more and more attention in recent years due to non-invasive imaging and good soft tissue contrast of Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) images. With the development of almost two decades, the innovative approaches applying computer-aided techniques for segmenting brain tumor are becoming more and more mature and coming closer to routine clinical applications. The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive overview for MRI-based brain tumor segmentation methods. Firstly, a brief introduction to brain tumors and imaging modalities of brain tumors is given. Then, the preprocessing operations and the state of the art methods of MRI-based brain tumor segmentation are introduced. Moreover, the evaluation and validation of the results of MRI-based brain tumor segmentation are discussed. 5Prioritization of orphan disease-causing genes using topological feature and GO similarity between proteins in interaction networks显示文摘Identification of disease-causing genes among a large number of candidates is a fundamental challenge in human disease studies.However,it is still time-consuming and laborious to determine the real disease-causing genes by biological experiments.With the advances of the high-throughput techniques,a large number of protein-protein interactions have been produced.Therefore,to address this issue,several methods based on protein interaction network have been proposed.In this paper,we propose a shortest path-based algorithm,named SPranker,to prioritize disease-causing genes in protein interaction networks.Considering the fact that diseases with similar phenotypes are generally caused by functionally related genes,we further propose an improved algorithm SPGOranker by integrating the semantic similarity of gene ontology(GO)annotations.SPGOranker not only considers the topological similarity between protein pairs in a protein interaction network but also takes their functional similarity into account.The proposed algorithms SPranker and SPGOranker were applied to 1598 known orphan disease-causing genes from 172 orphan diseases and compared with three state-of-the-art approaches,ICN,VS and RWR.The experimental results show that SPranker and SPGOranker outperform ICN,VS,and RWR for the prioritization of orphan disease-causing genes.Importantly,for the case study of severe combined immunodeficiency,SPranker and SPGOranker predict several novel causal genes.LI Min LI Qi GANEGODA Gamage Upeksha WANG JianXin WU FangXiang PAN Yi 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,11:6
6An animal model of cerebral palsy induced by prenatal exposure to lipopolysaccharide and hypoxia显示文摘BACKGROUND:Neonatal cerebral palsy is mainly caused by prenatal factors.At present, an animal model of prenatal infection and early postnatal hypoxia does not exist.OBJECTIVE:To observe morphology and motor performance following prenatal infection and hypoxic insult-induced brain damage of neonatal rats to verify the feasibility to establish a model of cerebral palsy.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING:A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at the Laboratories of Xinjiang Center for Disease Control and Prevention from September 2007 to June 2008.MATERIALS:The hypoxic incubator was purchased from Shanghai Pediatric Medical Institute, China.Lipopolysaccharide (LPS, Escherichia coli, O55:B5) was purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (St.Louis, MO, USA).METHODS:A total of 27 Wistar rats, aged 7 days, were randomly assigned to sham-surgery group (n=15) with no carotid artery incision or hypoxia treatment, hypoxia/ischemia (H/I) group (n=12) undergoing ligature of the right common carotid artery followed by exposure to hypoxia at postnatal day 7 (P7), and LPS/H group (n=19), in which pregnant rats were exposed in utero to LPS followed by prenatal hypoxia at embryonic day 16.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Behavior, compound muscle action potential, and pathological changes were observed in 28-day-old rats.RESULTS:The footprint repeat space showed that left limb footprint repeatability in the H/I and LPS/H groups was lower than in the sham-surgery group (P<0.05).The space between the footprints was larger and unstable.Hind limb quadricep compound muscle action potential in the H/I and LPS/H groups showed lower wave amplitude compared with the sham-surgery group (P<0.05).Hematoxylin and eosin staining showed irregular cells around the ventricle, as well as periventricular leukomalacia.CONCLUSION:An animal model of cerebral palsy was established, which simulated the human condition most likely associated with occurrence of this disease.This model could be used for experimental studies related to cerebral palsy.Gang Chen Yanrong HU Wei Liu Jiang Li Linbao Wen Jianxin Li Lihui Zhao Xiaopeng Yang Yi Zhu Zhenzhu Sun Guangming Chi 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,14:4
7Seasonal Interaction of River Water-Groundwater-Salt Lake Brine and Its Influence on Water-Salt Balance in the Nalenggele River Catchment in Qaidam Basin,NW China显示文摘Identifying interactions among river water,groundwater and salt lake brine is important for sustainable exploitation of brine mineral resources.In this study,we investigated the water exchange rate in dry and wet seasons,and assessed the influence of seasonal water exchange on brine concentration and crystallization process in the Nalenggele(NLGL)catchment of Qaidam Basin,China.The results show that the surface water infiltration and groundwater recharge rates in the wet season were 2.81×10^(-3)and 1.15×10^(-3)m^(3)/(s·m)in upstream,1.63×10^(-2)and 1.53×10^(-2)m^(3)/(s·m)in midstream,and 2.83×10^(-4)and 6.82×10^(-5)m^(3)/(s·m)in downstream,respectively;while their counterparts in the dry season were 9.81×10^(-4)and 5.05×10^(-4)m^(3)/(s·m)in upstream,and 8.34×10^(-3)and 7.78×10^(-3)m^(3)/(s·m)in midstream,respectively.The water exchange strongly influenced brine concentration and crystallinzation process,with brine chemistry belonging to 3K_(2)SO_(4)·Na_(2)SO_(4) and KCl types in wet and dry seasons,respectively.The strong water exchange in wet season destroyed the water-salt balance,while the low water exchange rate in dry season facilitated preparation of KCl products.Jibin Han Jianxin Xu Lei Yi Zheng Chang Jianping Wang Haizhou Ma Baoyun Zhang Hongchen Jiang 2022Journal of Earth Science2022,33,5:3
8Applications of Deep Learning to MRI Images:A Survey显示文摘Deep learning provides exciting solutions in many fields, such as image analysis, natural language processing, and expert system, and is seen as a key method for various future applications. On account of its non-invasive and good soft tissue contrast, in recent years, Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) has been attracting increasing attention. With the development of deep learning, many innovative deep learning methods have been proposed to improve MRI image processing and analysis performance. The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive overview of deep learning-based MRI image processing and analysis. First, a brief introduction of deep learning and imaging modalities of MRI images is given. Then, common deep learning architectures are introduced. Next, deep learning applications of MRI images, such as image detection, image registration, image segmentation, and image classification are discussed. 11Data fusion of target characteristic in multistatic passive radar显示文摘Radar cross section(RCS)is an important attribute of radar targets and has been widely used in automatic target recognition(ATR).In a passive radar,only the RCS multiplied by a coefficient is available due to the unknown transmitting parameters.For different transmitter-receiver(bistatic)pairs,the coefficients are different.Thus,the recovered RCS in different transmitter-receiver(bistatic)pairs cannot be fused for further use.In this paper,we propose a quantity named quasi-echo-power(QEP)as well as a method for eliminating differences of this quantity among different transmitter-receiver(bistatic)pairs.The QEP is defined as the target echo power after being compensated for distance and pattern propagation factor.The proposed method estimates the station difference coefficients(SDCs)of transmitter-receiver(bistatic)pairs relative to the reference transmitter-receiver(bistatic)pair first.Then,it compensates the QEP and gets the compensated QEP.The compensated QEP possesses a linear relationship with the target RCS.Statistical analyses on the simulated and real-life QEP data show that the proposed method can effectively estimate the SDC between different stations,and the compensated QEP from different receiving stations has the same distribution characteristics for the same target.CAO Xiaomao YI Jianxin GONG Ziping RAO Yunhua WAN Xianrong 2021Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2021,32,4:2
12Design and development of SiC/(W,Ti)C gradient ceramic nozzle显示文摘The idea of functionally gradient material (FGM) theory was used to design ceramic nozzle based on the erosion wear behaviors of the ceramic nozzles and the out- standing properties of FGM. The purpose is to reduce the tensile stress at the entry region of the nozzle during sand blasting processes. The design theory and methods of gradient ceramic nozzle were proposed. The physical, micromechanical, and composition distribution models of gradient ceramic nozzle were established. The optimum composition distribution of the gradient ceramic nozzle material was determined from the solution of the multi-objective optimization calculation by constructing the models of the composition distribution versus the structural in- tegrity of the compact in fabricating process. Results showed that compressive residual stresses appeared at the entry area of the gradient ceramic nozzle. The optimized component distribution exponent p is 0.5. An SiC/(W,Ti)C gradient ce- ramic nozzle material was synthesized by hot-pressing according to the design result. 14Simultaneous estimation of genetic linkage and preferential pairing factor for a triploid population with unphased markers显示文摘Triploids,recognized to occur more frequently in natural and experimental populations of many species than previously appreciated,display important economic and biological values.Despite this,however,linkage analysis for triploids has not been well explored.We develop a statistical model for estimating and testing the linkage between molecular markers in a triploid population derived from a tetraploid and diploid parent.The model incorporates one important meiotic feature of tetraploids by which more homologous chromosomes pair with a greater likelihood than less homologous chromosomes.By implementing the EM algorithm within the maximum likelihood framework,the model provides a procedure for simultaneous estimation of the linkage and preferential pairing factor.The model accommodates the segregating patterns of pseudotest markers and intercross markers with different amounts of informativeness.The utility of the model was validated through a real data analysis and simulation studies.The model provides a statistical tool for linkage analysis in a triploid population by taking into account meiotic behavior of tetraploids.Results from the model will help to shed light on the genetic diversity and origin of a polyploid population.WANG JianXin DONG XiaoLi PANG XiaoMing LV YaFei YI HuaLin YANG XiaoXia WANG Zhong WU Song WU RongLing 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,21:1
15U-Pb Isotope Geochronology of Syntectonic Granites from Hainan Island,South China:Constraints on Tectonic Evolution of the Eastern Paleo-Tethys Ocean显示文摘Since the recognition of the Indosinian orogeny in northern Vietnam,Triassic orogens have been widely identified around the western and southwestern boundaries of the South China block.The paleo-Tethys sutures stretch from west to southeast,from Jinshajiang-Ailaoshan via NE Vietnam to Hainan Island;these sutures exhibit and develop voluminous Permian-early Triassic magmatism and numerous high-strain shear zones.As ophiolites related to the paleo-Tethys are lacking on Hainan Island,the eastward extension of the Indosinian orogeny and subduction and closure time of the paleo-Tethys Ocean on Hainan Island remain controversial.Here,an integrated kinematic and geochronological study has been conducted on two shear zones,called the Xiaomei and Mangsan shear zones.U-Pb zircon dating yields an age of early Triassic(252-251 Myr)for Xiaomei syntectonic granites which formed in the same tectonic setting and presented the similar nanoparticles to the Indosinian granites from Ailaoshan ductile shear zone,including the strawberry-like and flower-like nanoparticles.The NE-trending Mangsan shear zone represented by the gneissic granites with middle Permian ages(264-262 Myr)formed in the same tectonic setting as the Wuzhi-shan granites that were proposed as I-type granites.These middle Permian gneissic granites with arc affinity may represent an arc setting related to the NW subduction of the paleo-Tethys.The analyses reveal that granites with late Triassic ages(235-232 Myr)in the Xiaomei shear zone have the characteristics of A-type granites.The late Triassic extensional events on Hainan Island may be related to the subduction of the paleo-Pacific Plate beneath the East Asian continent.ZHOU Yang YAN Yi LIU Hailing CAI Jianxin ZHOU Mengfei ZHANG Xinchang WANG Yin SHEN Baoyun 2020Journal of Ocean University of China2020,19,6:1

17Sequential and Simultaneous Joint Inversion of Resistivity and IP Sounding Data Using Particle Swarm Optimization显示文摘In order to interpret the vertical electrical sounding data more reliably and effectively in the case of lacking proper priori information,two inverse schemes are proposed to invert combined resistivity and induced polarization data by using particle swarm optimization technique.Based on the computational formula of induced polarization,the inversion for chargeability/polarizability data can be transformed into inverting equivalent resistivity data.Then,the inversion for combined data can be decomposed into two procedures:inverting resistivity data and inverting equivalent resistivity data.A sequential inversion scheme is presented to run the two procedures sequentially.Contrast to the sequential scheme,a simultaneous one is proposed to invert resistivity and induced polarization data simultaneously.Both the sequential and simultaneous schemes are performed via centered-progressive particle swarm optimization algorithm for more exploratory purpose.Numerical experiments show that both the designed inversion algorithms can invert resistivity and induced polarization data successfully with fast convergence and high accuracy,even performed in a large search space.The inverse results are comparable to the results from generalized linear method.As an approximate importance sampler,the particle swarm optimization based algorithm can provide posterior analysis conveniently.We employ the posterior probability distributions of inverted model parameters to evaluate the performance and uncertainty of inversion.The posterior analysis and further field data testing show that the proposed inversion algorithms perform good sampling of the equivalence region and make sure that the global optimum can locate in the high probability areas.Yi'an Cui Zhixue Chen Xiaoxiong Zhu Haifei Liu Jianxin Liu 2017Journal of Earth Science2017,28,4:1
18High-accuracy target tracking for multistatic passive radar based on a deep feedforward neural network显示文摘In radar systems,target tracking errors are mainly from motion models and nonlinear measurements.When we evaluate a tracking algorithm,its tracking accuracy is the main criterion.To improve the tracking accuracy,in this paper we formulate the tracking problem into a regression model from measurements to target states.A tracking algorithm based on a modified deep feedforward neural network(MDFNN)is then proposed.In MDFNN,a filter layer is introduced to describe the temporal sequence relationship of the input measurement sequence,and the optimal measurement sequence size is analyzed.Simulations and field experimental data of the passive radar show that the accuracy of the proposed algorithm is better than those of extended Kalman filter(EKF),unscented Kalman filter(UKF),and recurrent neural network(RNN)based tracking methods under the considered scenarios.Baoxiong XU Jianxin YI Feng CHENG Ziping GONG Xianrong WAN 2023Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering2023,24,8:1
19HPDL deficiency causes a neuromuscular disease by impairing the mitochondrial respiration显示文摘Mitochondrial diseases are caused by variants in both mitochondrial and nuclear genomes.A nuclear gene HPDL(4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase-like),which encodes an intermembrane mitochondrial protein,has been recently implicated in causing a neurodegenerative disease characterized by pediatric-onset spastic movement phenotypes.Here,we report six Chinese patients with bi-allelic HPDL pathogenic variants from four unrelated families showing neuropathic symptoms of variable severity,including developmental delay/intellectual disability,spasm,and hypertonia.Seven different pathogenic variants are identified,of which five are novel.Both fibroblasts and immortalized lymphocytes derived from patients show impaired mitochondrial respiratory function,which is also observed in HPDL-knockdown(KD)He La cells.In these He La cells,overexpression of a wild-type HPDL gene can rescue the respiratory phenotype of oxygen consumption rate.In addition,a decreased activity of the oxidative phosphorylation(OXPHOS)complex II is observed in patient-derived lymphocytes and HPDL-KD He La cells,further supporting an essential role of HPDL in the mitochondrial respiratory chain.Collectively,our data expand the clinical and mutational spectra of this mitochondrial neuropathy and further delineate the possible disease mechanism involving the impairment of the OXPHOS complex II activity due to the bi-allelic inactivations of HPDL.Yu Sun Xiujuan Wei Fang Fang Yiping Shen Haiyan Wei Jiuwei Li Xianglai Ye Yongkun Zhan Xiantao Ye Xiaomin Liu Wei Yang Yuhua Li Xiangju Geng Xuelin Huang Yiyan Ruan Zailong Qin Shang Yi Jianxin Lyu Hezhi Fang Yongguo Yu 2021Journal of Genetics and Genomics2021,48,8:1
20Mobility-limited charge injection in cross-linked polyethylene under extra high electric field显示文摘In this study,characteristics of charge injection under extra high electric field(above 100 kV/mm)in cross‐linked polyethylene(XLPE)were investigated by experiments of conduction current and space charge.The results show that current density from low electric field to sample breakdown corresponds to space charge limited current(SCLC)theory.More specifically,Schottky current is similar to experiment current before 100 kV/mm,while the J–E curve conforms to a modified SCLC theory after 100 kV/mm.Besides,the non‐linear coefficient of J–E curve from 100 kV/mm to extra high electric field is smaller than theoretical value,and the injection depth of space charge is restricted as the field becomes higher than 100 kV/mm,which may be caused by the negative differential mobility of charge.Driven by extra high electric field,charge collides with lattice of dielectric and scatters.As a result,mean free time of charge decreases and charge mobility is reduced with the increased field.Conse-quently,considering the decrease in charge mobility,a mobility‐limited charge injec-tion equation is proposed,and the validity of the proposed equation under extra high electric field is demonstrated by space charge simulation.Xi Zhu Yi Yin Suman Peng Jiandong Wu Wenpeng Li Xin Chen Zhenyu Li Jianxin Guan 2021High Voltage2021,6,5:1
