2Winter wheat mapping using a random forest classifier combined with multi-temporal and multi-sensor data显示文摘Wheat is a major staple food crop in China.Accurate and cost-effective wheat mapping is exceedingly critical for food production management,food security warnings,and food trade policy-making in China.To reduce confusion between wheat and non-wheat crops for accurate growth stage wheat mapping,we present a novel approach that combines a random forest(RF)classifier with multi-sensor and multi-temporal image data.This study aims to(1)determine whether an RF combined with multi-sensor and multi-temporal imagery can achieve accurate winter wheat mapping,(2)to find out whether the proposed approach can provide improved performance over the traditional classifiers,and(3)examine the feasibility of deriving reliable estimates of winter wheat-growing areas from medium-resolution remotely sensed data.Winter wheat mapping experiments were conducted in Boxing County.The experimental results suggest that the proposed method can achieve good performance,with an overall accuracy of 92.9%and a kappa coefficient(κ)of 0.858.The winter wheat acreage was estimated at 33,895.71 ha with a relative error of only 9.3%.The effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed approach has been evaluated through comparison with other image classification methods.We conclude that the proposed approach can provide accurate delineation of winter wheat areas.Jiantao Liu Quanlong Feng Jianhua Gong Jieping Zhou Jianming Liang Yi Li 2018International Journal of Digital Earth2018,11,8:3
3Comparison of the graphic and moment methods for analyzing grainsize distributions:A case study for the Chinese inner continental shelf seas显示文摘Sediment grain-size distributions provide key information on sediment sources,transport,and deposition.The Folk and Ward graphic method and the Friedman moment method are generally used for rapid analysis of the qualitative and quantitative properties of sediment samples;whether the two methods yield the same results for any given sediment sample is not yet known.Little research attention has been paid to comparison of the descriptive terms used in both methods,although some work has been done on comparison of the numerical values.In the current study,sediment samples from six areas of the Chinese inner continental seas were investigated.The mean and sorting values obtained using the two methods are well correlated(0.821≤R^(2)≤0.998),but the skewness and kurtosis vary among study areas(0.035≤R^(2)≤0.816),which is consistent with previous studies where R^(2) is the coefficient of determination.The two methods yield significant differences for skewness(84.78%-98.04%of samples)and kurtosis(40.59%-67.29%of samples).The main reasons for these differences are variations in the grainsize distribution curves of the sediment samples and differences in the weighting applied to specified cumulative percentile values by the two methods.These results demonstrate that the differences between the two methods should be taken into account when analyzing sedimentary environments and studying historical data.Gaocong Li Rihong Du Jieping Tang Zhiqiang Li Qiong Xia Benwei Shi Liang Zhou Yang Yang Wenxiang Zhang 2022International Journal of Sediment Research2022,37,6:1
4Multiplex and optimization of dCas9-TV-mediated gene activation in plants显示文摘Synthetic gene activators consisting of nucleasedead Cas9(dCas9)for single-guide RNA(sgRNA)-directed promoter binding and a transcriptional activation domain(TAD)represent new tools for gene activation from endogenous genomic locus in basic and applied plant research.However,multiplex gene coactivation by d Cas9-TADs has not been demonstrated in whole plants.There is also room to optimize the performance of these tools.Here,we report that our previously developed gene activator,dCas9-TV,could simultaneously upregulate OsGW7 and OsER1 in rice by up to 3,738 fold,with one sg RNA targeting to each promoter.The gene coactivation could persist to at least the fourth generation.Astonishingly,thepolycistronictRNA-sgRNAexpression under the maize ubiquitin promoter,a Pol II promoter,could cause enormous activation of these genes by up to>40,000-fold in rice.Moreover,the yeast GCN4 coiled coil-mediated dCas9-TV dimerization appeared to be promising for enhancing gene activation.Finally,we successfully introduced a self-amplification loop for dCas9-TV expression in Arabidopsis to promote the transcriptional upregulation of AtFLS2,a previously characterized dCas9-TV-refractory gene with considerable basal expression.Collectively,this work illustrates the robustness of dCas9-TV in multigene coactivation and provides broadly useful strategies for boosting transcriptional activation efficacy of dCas9-TADs in plants.Xiangyu Xiong Jieping Liang Zhenxiang Li Ben-Qiang Gong Jian-Feng Li 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,4:1
