| 1 | Species Exclusion Between an Invasive and an Indigenous Whitefly on Host Plants with Differential Levels of Suitability显示文摘The whitefly Bemisia tabaci has risen to international prominence since the 1980s due to the rapid spread around the globe by the two species B and Q within this species complex.The invasion of B has often been associated with the displacement of indigenous whiteflies.As the genetic structure of B.tabaci is diverse,more case studies of the competitive relationships between B and indigenous species of the whitefly species complex will help to understand further the mechanisms underlying the invasion of B.We examined the competitive interactions between B and ZHJ2,a widely distributed indigenous whitefly in Asia,on host plants with differential levels of suitability to the two species in the laboratory,and also tested the effect of insecticide application on the competitive relationships.Three species of plants were tested including cotton,a plant showing similar levels of suitability to both species,squash,a plant showing higher suitability to B than to ZHJ2,and kidney bean,a plant showing higher suitability to ZHJ2 than to B.In the case of no insecticide application,B displaced ZHJ2 on cotton,squash,and kidney bean by the 6th,3rd and 10th generation,respectively.With the application of imidacloprid,the displacement of ZHJ2 by B on cotton occurred by the 5th generation.As the displacement progressed,the proportion of B females increased,and the proportion of ZHJ2 females decreased on cotton and squash.In contrast,on kidney bean the proportion of B females remained unchanged while that of ZHJ2 increased.These results show the strong capacity of the invasive B to displace ZHJ2,and indicate that host plants with differential levels of suitability to the two species may affect the speed but not the trend of displacement and insecticide application may accelerate the process of displacement. | LUAN Jun-bo XU Jing LIN Ke-ke Myron P Zalucki LIU Shu-sheng | 2012 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2012，11，2： | 6 |

| 3 | Quality control measures for lowering the seroconversion rate of hemodialysis patients with hepatitis B or C virus显示文摘BACKGROUND: Hemodialysis (HD) patients are at high risk of infection by hepatitis B virus (HBV) or hepatitis C virus (HCV). The present study was designed to determine the impact of quality control measures on the prevention of transmission of blood-borne viruses. METHODS: A total of 6182 adult maintenance HD patients from all HD units in Zhejiang Province were recruited on January 1, 2007. The baseline demographic and clinical characteristics were recorded and all patients were followed up until death or survival at 4 years later. The Quality Control Standards of Hemodialysis were gradually implemented in HD units. The HBV or HCV seroconversion rates of the recruited patients were calculated and compared every year during the observation period. RESULTS: The prevalence of HBV was 8.3% at the beginning of the study, and 6.6% for HCV. With the implementation of the HD quality control measures, the HBV seroconversion rate tended to decrease year by year (χ 2 =6.620, P=0.085), and the HCV seroconversion rate decreased significantly (χ 2 =10.41, P=0.015). Compared with the data in 2007, the HBV seroconversion rate (χ 2 =4.204, P=0.040, relative risk ratio 0.393, 95% CI 0.156-0.991) and the HCV seroconversion rate (χ 2 =7.373, P=0.007, relative risk ratio 0.386, 95% CI 0.189-0.787) decreased significantly in 2010. | 6 | Accurate and generalizable quantitative scoring of liver steatosis from ultrasound images via scalable deep learning显示文摘BACKGROUND Hepatic steatosis is a major cause of chronic liver disease.Two-dimensional(2D)ultrasound is the most widely used non-invasive tool for screening and monitoring,but associated diagnoses are highly subjective.AIM To develop a scalable deep learning(DL)algorithm for quantitative scoring of liver steatosis from 2D ultrasound images.METHODS Using multi-view ultrasound data from 3310 patients,19513 studies,and 228075 images from a retrospective cohort of patients received elastography,we trained a DL algorithm to diagnose steatosis stages(healthy,mild,moderate,or severe)from clinical ultrasound diagnoses.Performance was validated on two multiscanner unblinded and blinded(initially to DL developer)histology-proven cohorts(147 and 112 patients)with histopathology fatty cell percentage diagnoses and a subset with FibroScan diagnoses.We also quantified reliability across scanners and viewpoints.Results were evaluated using Bland-Altman and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)analysis.RESULTS The DL algorithm demonstrated repeatable measurements with a moderate number of images(three for each viewpoint)and high agreement across three premium ultrasound scanners.High diagnostic performance was observed across all viewpoints:Areas under the curve of the ROC to classify mild,moderate,and severe steatosis grades were 0.85,0.91,and 0.93,respectively.The DL algorithm outperformed or performed at least comparably to FibroScan control attenuation parameter(CAP)with statistically significant improvements for all levels on the unblinded histology-proven cohort and for“=severe”steatosis on the blinded histology-proven cohort.CONCLUSION The DL algorithm provides a reliable quantitative steatosis assessment across view and scanners on two multi-scanner cohorts.Diagnostic performance was high with comparable or better performance than the CAP. | Bowen Li Dar-In Tai Ke Yan Yi-Cheng Chen Cheng-Jen Chen Shiu-Feng Huang Tse-Hwa Hsu Wan-Ting Yu Jing Xiao Lu Le Adam P Harrison | 2022 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2022，28，22： | 2 |
