1The zircon SHRIMP chronology and trace elementgeochemistry of the Carboniferous volcanic rocksin western Tianshan Mountains显示文摘The genesis of the Carboniferous volcanic rocks in the Dahalajunshan group, mainly consisting of trachytes and trachy-andesites and distributing widely in western Tianshan Mountains, remains to be controversial. It has been proposed to be relevant to “rift” or “plume”. Detailed pe-trology and geochemical data presented in this paper show that these volcanic rocks represent typical continental arc magmatism. The volcanic rocks are mainly trachy-andesitic, and the magma source is enriched in LILE, Th and Pb, and depleted in HFSE and Ce. Trace element geochemical study suggests that the basalts could be modeled by 7%-11% partial melt of garnet lherzolite. The volcanic rocks in the Dahala-junshan group are neither the products of “rift” nor so-called “plume” but represent the continental island arc of the Pa-leo-Southern Tianshan Ocean. The mantle wedge had been modified by the melt generating in subduction zone during a long evolution history of this island arc. The continental crust materials (i.e. mainly sediment on ocean floor) had been added into island arc through melt in subduction zone. Volcanic rocks occurring in different regions might represent magma eruption in different time. The zircon SHRIMP dat-ing indicates that the ages of the basalt varies between 334.0 Ma and 394.9 Ma. The 13 analyses give an average age of 353.7 ±4.5 Ma (MSWD = 1.7). The apparent ages of zircons in trachy-andesite vary between 293.0 Ma and 465.4 Ma. All analyses fall on the U-Pb concordant line and are divided into two groups. 8 analyses produce an average age of 312.8±4.2 Ma (MSWD = 1.7), which represents the crystal-lizing age of zircon rims in trachy-andesite. The acquired two ages (i.e. 354 and 313 Ma) belong to the Early Carboniferous and Late Carboniferous epochs, respectively. 2Traditional Chinese medicine integrated with chemotherapy for stage Ⅳ non-surgical gastric cancer: a retrospective clinical analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) is regarded as an important treatment for gastric cancer patients, especially for those in advanced stage. To evaluate the effects of TCM treatment on gastric cancer patients, the authors performed a retrospective study to report the result of the integrated treatment of TCM with chemotherapy for stage IV non-surgical gastric cancer.METHODS: In this study, 182 patients with stage IV and non-surgical gastric cancer were retrospectively analyzed to evaluate the effects of TCM integrated with chemotherapy. Among the 182 cases, 88 cases received integrated therapy consisting of TCM and chemotherapy, while 94 cases received chemotherapy alone. The overall survival and Karnofsky performance status(KPS) score were measured as the main outcome.RESULTS: The median overall survival of the integrated therapy group and chemotherapy group were 16.9 and 10.5 months, respectively. The 1-, 3-and 5-year survival rates of integrated therapy group vs. chemotherapy group were 70% vs. 32%, 18% vs. 4%, and 11% vs. 0%, respectively. There was a significant difference between the two groups(χ2 = 42.244, P < 0.001). After six-month treatment, KPS scores of the integrated therapy group and the chemotherapy group were 75.00 ± 14.78 and 60.64 ± 21.39, respectively(P < 0.001). The Cox regression analysis showed that TCM treatment is a protective factor for patients' overall survival. 4High levels of serum interleukin-6 increase mortality of hepatitis B virus-associated acute-on-chronic liver failure显示文摘BACKGROUND Patients with hepatitis B virus-associated acute-on-chronic liver failure(HBVACLF)present a complex and poor prognosis.Systemic inflammation plays an important role in its pathogenesis,and interleukin-6(IL-6)as a pro-inflammatory cytokine is related with severe liver impairment and also plays a role in promoting liver regeneration.Whether serum IL-6 influences HBV-ACLF prognosis has not been studied.AIM To determine the impact of serum IL-6 on outcome of patients with HBV-ACLF.METHODS We performed a retrospective study of 412 HBV-ACLF patients.The findings were analyzed with regard to mortality and the serum IL-6 level at baseline,as well as dynamic changes of serum IL-6 within 4 wk.RESULTS The serum IL-6 level was associated with mortality.Within 4 wk,deceased patients had significantly higher levels of IL-6 at baseline than surviving patients[17.9(7.3-57.6)vs 10.4(4.7-22.3),P=0.011].Patients with high IL-6 levels(>11.8 pg/mL)had a higher mortality within 4 wk than those with low IL-6 levels(≤11.8 pg/mL)(24.2%vs 13.2%,P=0.004).The odds ratios calculated using univariate and multivariate logistic regression were 2.10(95%confidence interval[CI]:1.26-3.51,P=0.005)and 2.11(95%CI:1.15-3.90,P=0.017),respectively.The mortality between weeks 5 and 8 in patients with high IL-6 levels at 4 wk was 15.0%,which was significantly higher than the 6.6%mortality rate in patients with low IL-6 levels at 4 wk(hazard ratio=2.39,95%CI:1.05-5.41,P=0.037).The mortality was 5.0%in patients with high IL-6 levels at baseline and low IL-6 levels at 4 wk,7.5%in patients with low IL-6 levels both at baseline and at 4 wk,11.5%in patients with low IL-6 levels at baseline and high IL-6 levels at 4 wk,and 16.7%in patients with high IL-6 levels both at baseline and at 4 wk.The increasing trend of the mortality rate with the dynamic changes of IL-6 was significant(P for trend=0.023).CONCLUSION A high level of serum IL-6 is an independent risk factor for mortality in patients with HBV-ACLF.Furthermore,a sustained high level or dynamic elevated level of serum IL-6 indicates a higher mortality.Chao Zhou Ning Zhang Ting-Ting He Yao Wang Li-Fu Wang Yong-Qiang Sun Jing Jing Jing-Jing Zhang Shuang-Nan Fu Xuan Wang Xiao-Xiao Liang Xin Li Man Gong Jun Li 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,30:15

9Three new alkaloids isolated from the stem tuber of Pinellia pedatisecta显示文摘The present study was designed to determine the chemical constituents of the stem tuber of Pinellia pedatisecta. The chemical constituents were isolated and purified by various chromatographic techniques, and their structures were elucidated on the basis of physicochemical properties and spectral data. Three new alkaloids(compounds 1, 2, and 3) were obtained and identified as 9-((5-methoxypyridin-2-yl)methyl)-9 H-purin-6-amine(1), 4-(2-(2, 5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl)ethyl)phenyl acetate(2), and N-(9-((5-methoxypyridin-2-yl)methyl)-9 H-purin-6-yl)acetamide(3). These compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against human cervical cancer He La cells. 11Targeting BMI-1-mediated epitheliale-mesenchymal transition to inhibit colorectal cancer liver metastasis显示文摘Liver is the most common metastatic site for colorectal cancer(CRC),there is no satisfied approach to treat CRC liver metastasis(CRCLM).Here,we investigated the role of a polycomb protein BMI-1 in CRCLM.Immunohistochemical analysis showed that BMI-1 expression in liver metastases was upregulated and associated with T4 stage,invasion depth and right-sided primary tumor.Knockdown BMI-1 in high metastatic HCT116 and LOVO cells repressed the migratory/invasive phenotype and reversed epithelialemesenchymal transition(EMT),while BMI-1 overexpression in low metastatic Ls174 T and DLD1 cells enhanced invasiveness and EMT.The effects of BMI-1 in CRC cells were related to upregulating snail via AKT/GSK-3βpathway.Furthermore,knockdown BMI-1 in HCT116 and LOVO cells reduced CRCLM using experimental liver metastasis mice model.Meanwhile,BMI-1 overexpression in Ls174 T and DLD1 significantly increased CRCLM.Moreover,sodium butyrate,a histone deacetylase and BMI-1 inhibitor,reduced HCT116 and LOVO liver metastasis in immunodeficient mice.Our results suggest that BMI-1 is a major regulator of CRCLM and provide a potent molecular target for CRCLM treatment.Zhiyao Xu Zhuha Zhou Jing Zhang Feichao Xuan Mengjing Fan Difan Zhou Zhenyu Liuyang Ximei Ma Yiyang Hong Yihong Wang Sherven Sharma Qinghua Dong Guanyu Wang 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,5:8
12Incidence of C-shaped root canal systems in mandibular second molars in the native Chinese population by analysis of clinical methods显示文摘The aims of the study were to investigate the incidence of C-shaped root canal systems in mandibular second molars in a native Chinese population using radiography and clinical examination under microscope and to compare the relative efficacies of these methods.For the recognition of C-shaped root canal system,1 146 mandibular second molars were selected and examined.Teeth with C-shaped canal systems were categorized by using the radiographic classification criteria and the modified Melton's method.C-shaped canals were identified in 397(34.64%) mandibular second molars by radiography(type I,31.23%;type II,38.29%;type III,30.48%).Clinical examination showed that 449(39.18%) cases exhibited C-shaped canal systems(C1,22.94%;C2,48.11%;C3a,15.59%;C3b,13.36%).As for the result of the radiographic and clinical combined examination,C-shaped root canals were found in 473(41.27%) mandibular second molars(C1,21.78%;C2,45.67%;C3a,16.70%;C3b,15.86%).The incidence of C-shaped root canal diagnosed by radiographic method was statistically different from that by clinical examination and the combined examination(P,0.05).The study indicated a high incidence of C-shaped canal system in a Chinese population.The combination of microscopic and radiographic examination is an effective method in identifying the C-shaped root canal system.Yan Wang Jing Guo Hai-Bing Yang Xuan Han Ying Yu 2012International Journal of Oral Science2012,4,3:8
13Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. 15The impact of both platinum-based chemotherapy and EGFR-TKIs on overall survival of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘Both platinum-based doublet chemotherapy(PBC) and epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors(EGFR-TKIs) prolong the survival of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). In early studies, most patients underwent PBC as first-line treatment, but not all patients could afford EGFR-TKIs as second-line treatment. To understand the impact of PBC and EGFR-TKIs on NSCLC prognosis, we evaluated the association between the receipt of both regimens and overall survival(OS). Using MEDLINE and EMBASE, we identified prospective, randomized, controlled phase III clinical trials in advanced NSCLC that met the inclusion criteria: in general population with advanced NSCLC, the percentage of patients treated with both PBC and EGFR-TKIs was available in the trial and OS was reported. After collecting data from the selected trials, we correlated the percentage of patients treated with both PBC and EGFR-TKIs with the reported OS, using a weighted analysis. Fifteen phase III clinical trials—involving 11,456 adult patients in 32 arms—were included in the analysis, including 6 trials in Asian populations and 9 in non-Asian(predominantly Caucasian) populations. The OS was positively correlated with the percentage of patients treated with both PBC and EGFR-TKIs(r = 0.797, P < 0.001). The correlation was obvious in the trials in Asian populations(r = 0.936, P < 0.001) but was not statistically significant in the trials in predominantly Caucasian populations(r = 0.116, P = 0.588). 16Application of deep learning in ecological resource research:Theories, methods, and challenges显示文摘Ecological resources are an important material foundation for the survival,development,and self-realization of human beings.In-depth and comprehensive research and understanding of ecological resources are beneficial for the sustainable development of human society.Advances in observation technology have improved the ability to acquire long-term,cross-scale,massive,heterogeneous,and multi-source data.Ecological resource research is entering a new era driven by big data.Traditional statistical learning and machine learning algorithms have problems with saturation in dealing with big data.Deep learning is a method for automatically extracting complex high-dimensional nonlinear features,which is increasingly used for scientific and industrial data processing because of its ability to avoid saturation with big data.To promote the application of deep learning in the field of ecological resource research,here,we first introduce the relationship between deep learning theory and research on ecological resources,common tools,and datasets.Second,applications of deep learning in classification and recognition,detection and localization,semantic segmentation,instance segmentation,and graph neural network in typical spatial discrete data are presented through three cases:species classification,crop breeding,and vegetation mapping.Finally,challenges and opportunities for the application of deep learning in ecological resource research in the era of big data are summarized by considering the characteristics of ecological resource data and the development status of deep learning.It is anticipated that the cooperation and training of cross-disciplinary talents may promote the standardization and sharing of ecological resource data,improve the universality and interpretability of algorithms,and enrich applications with the development of hardware.Qinghua GUO Shichao JIN Min LI Qiuli YANG Kexin XU Yuanzhen JU Jing ZHANG Jing XUAN Jin LIU Yanjun SU Qiang XU Yu LIU 2020Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,10:7
17Effects of Carboxymethyl-Chitosan on Wound Healing in vivo and in vitro显示文摘Effects of carboxymethyl-chitosan with different molecular weights on wound healing were investigated in vivo and in vitro.A second degree burn model was performed in rats and the accelerative effects of carboxymethyl-chitosan on wound repair were observed.Contents of transforming growth factor(TGF)-β1,interleukin(IL)-6 and matrix metalloproteinase(MMP)-1 in wounds were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).In vitro study evaluated the influence of carboxy-methyl-chitosan on cytokines secretion of fibroblasts and macrophages.In vivo results showed that carboxymethyl-chitosan effec-tively accelerated the wound healing process in burned rats(P<0.05).Levels of TGF-β1,IL-6 and MMP-1 in carboxymethyl-chitosan groups were significantly elevated,compared with control group(P<0.05).In vitro results indicated that carboxymethyl-chitosan significantly promoted the proliferation of fibroblasts and stimulated its IL-8 and IL-10 secretion at different incubation time,but it did not affect collagen secretion of fibroblasts.Carboxymethyl-chitosan enhanced phagocytosis ability of macrophages,and in-creased its tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α secretion.In conclusion,carboxymethyl-chitosan promoted wound healing by activating macrophages,accelerating fibroblasts growth and exerting considerable effects on the secretion of a series of cytokines.PENG Sikai LIU Wanshun HAN Baoqin CHANG Jing LI Minyu ZHI Xuan 2011Journal of Ocean University of China2011,10,4:7

20Analysis of aristolochic acids, aristololactams and their analogues using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry显示文摘More than 80 aristolochic acids(AAs) and aristololactams(ALs) have been found in plants of the Aristolochiaceae family, but relatively few have been fully studied. The present study aimed at developing and validating a liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry(LC/MS^n) for the analysis of these compounds. We characterized the fragmentation behaviors of 31 AAs, ALs, and their analogues via high performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. We summarized their fragmentation rules and used these rules to identify the constituents contained in Aristolochia contorta, Ar. debilis, Ar. manshurensis, Ar. fangchi, Ar. cinnabarina, and Ar. mollissima. The AAs and ALs showed very different MS behaviors. In MS1 of AAs, the characteristic pseudomolecular ions were [M + NH_4]^+, [M + H]^+, and [M + H - H_2O]^+. However, only [M + H]^+ was found in the MS1 of ALs, which was simpler than that of AAs. Distinct MSn fragmentation patterns were found for AAs and ALs, showing the same skeleton among the different substituent groups. The distribution of the 31 constituents in the 6 species of Aristolochia genus was reported for the first time. 25 Analogues of AAs and ALs were detected in this genus. A hierarchical schemes and a calculating formula of the molecular formula of these nitrophenanthrene carboxylic acids and their lactams were proposed.
