| 1 | Water chemistry controlled aggregation and photo-transformation of silver nanoparticles in environmental waters显示文摘The inevitable release of engineered silver nanoparticles(Ag NPs) into aquatic environments has drawn great concerns about its environmental toxicity and safety. Although aggregation and transformation play crucial roles in the transport and toxicity of Ag NPs, how the water chemistry of environmental waters influences the aggregation and transformation of engineered Ag NPs is still not well understood. In this study, the aggregation of polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP) coated Ag NPs was investigated in eight typical environmental water samples(with different ionic strengths, hardness, and dissolved organic matter(DOM) concentrations) by using UV–visible spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering. Raman spectroscopy was applied to probe the interaction of DOM with the surface of Ag NPs. Further, the photo-transformation and morphology changes of Ag NPs in environmental waters were studied by UV–visible spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, and transmission electron microscopy. The results suggested that both electrolytes(especially Ca2+and Mg2+) and DOM in the surface waters are key parameters for Ag NP aggregation, and sunlight could accelerate the morphology change, aggregation, and further sedimentation of Ag NPs. | 3 | Enhanced removal of Cr(Ⅵ) by biochar with Fe as electron shuttles显示文摘Biochar is extensively used as an effective soil amendment for environmental remediation.In addition to its strong contaminant sorption capability, biochar also plays an important role in chemical transformation of contaminant due to its inherent redox-active moieties.However, the transformation efficiency of inorganic contaminants is generally very limited when the direct adsorption of contaminants on biochar is inefficient. The present study demonstrates the role of Fe ion as an electron shuttle to enhance Cr(Ⅵ) reduction by biochars. Batch experiments were conducted to examine the effects of Fe(Ⅲ) levels,pyrolysis temperature of biochar, initial solution pH, and biochar dosage on the efficiency of Cr(Ⅵ) removal. Results showed a significant enhancement in Cr(Ⅵ) reduction with an increase in Fe(Ⅲ) concentration and a decrease of initial pH. Biochar produced at higher pyrolysis temperatures(e.g., 700°C) favored Cr(Ⅵ) removal, especially in the presence of Fe(Ⅲ), while a higher biochar dosage proved unfavorable likely due to the agglomeration or precipitation of biochar. Speciation analysis of Fe and Cr elements on the surface of biochar and in the solution further confirmed the role of Fe ion as an electron shuttle between biochar and Cr(Ⅵ). | 4 | Microwave-assisted continuous flow phytosynthesis of silver nanoparticle/reduced graphene oxide composites and related visible light catalytic performance显示文摘The creation of an environmentally friendly synthesis method for silver nanomaterials(Ag-NPs)is an urgent concern for sustainable nanotechnology development.In the present study,a novel straightforward and green method for the preparation of silver nanoparti-cle/reduced graphene oxide(AgNP/rGO)composites was successfully developed through the combination of phytosynthesis,continuous flow synthesis and microwave-assistance.Oriental persimmon(Diospyros kaki Thunb.)extracts were used as both plant reducing and capping agents for fast online synthesis of AgNP/rGO composites.The experimental param-eters were optimized and the morphologies of the prepared materials were investigated.The characterization results reveal that spherical AgNPs were quickly synthesized and uni-formly dispersed on rGO sheets using the proposed online system.Fourier transform in-frared spectroscopy analysis confirmed that phenols,flavonoids,and other substances in the plant extracts played a decisive role in the synthesis of AgNP/rGO composites.Using sodium borohydride(NaBH4)degradation of p-nitrophenol(4-NP)as a model,the catalytic activity of the prepared AgNP/rGO materials was evaluated.The complete degradation of 4-NP was achieved within 12 min through the use of AgNP/rGO materials,and the compos-ite had a much better catalytic activity than the bare AgNPs and rGO had.Compared with the conventional chemical method,our online method is facile,fast,cost-efficient,and en-vironmentally friendly. | Houyu Wang Chun-Gang Yuan Chenchen Liu Xuelei Duan Qi Guo Yiwen Shen Jingfu Liu Yongsheng Chen | 2022 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,5: | 2 |

| 8 | Microscale Chemical Features of Sediment-Water Interface in Hongfeng Lake显示文摘In situ microscale distributions of O_2, H_2 S, p H and redox potential in sediments of Hongfeng Lake, SW China, were investigated using the powerful microsensor technique. Our results show that O_2 was depleted within the top 3.9 mm in surface sediments, and H_2 S was subsequently detected at ~6.0 mm depth, and reached its maximum concentrations at ~25 mm. The degradation of organic matter and reduction of sulfate might be the major pathways of producing H_2 S in sediments. p H rapidly reduced in surface layers mainly due to H+ release in the oxidation of organic matter. Eh also decreased sharply in surface sediments, probabl indicating the coexistence of Fe and Mn oxides with O_2 in aerobic region. Furthermore, the programme of PROFILE was applied to model the O_2 gradient, and good fit was obtained between the simulative values and the factual values both in sediments and in the diffusive boundary layer(DBL). The results indicate that the depth-integrated O_2 consumption rates within sediments were 0.083 and 0.134 nmol·m^(-3)·s^(-1) in site S1 and site S2, respectively. In addition, there were distinct DBL in two sediment profiles, with 1.2 mm thickness in S1 and 0.9 mm thickness in S2. | 9 | The oxygen isotopic composition of phosphate as an effective tracer for phosphate sources in Hongfeng Lake显示文摘In order to characterize the oxygen isotopic composition of internal phosphate and explore the possibility of using these data to identify phosphate sources, we measured oxygen isotopic compositions of phosphate(δ^(18)O_p) in sediment pore water in Hongfeng Lake, a typical deep-water lake in a mountainous area. These data, in combination with δ^(18)O_p in surface water samples and water column samples, were successfully used to identify phosphate sources. The δ^(18)O_p value of sediment pore water ranged from 15.2% to 15.8%, with an average value of 15.5%—the δ^(18)O_p value of internal phosphate. The δ^(18)O_p values decreased gradually through the water column from 19.4% in surface water to 16.4% in deeper water, implying that internal phosphate had more negative δ^(18)O_p values than external phosphate. This finding was substantiated by horizontal variations in δ^(18)O_p values, which decreased with increasing distance from inflowing rivers. All collected evidence suggests that external and internal phosphate have distinctly different isotopic signatures and that these signatures have not been considerably altered by biological mediation in Hongfeng Lake. Therefore, δ^(18)O_p can be used to distinguish phosphate sources. A two-endmember mixing model showed that internal phosphate had an average contribution of 40%, highlighting the influence of internal phosphorus loading on aqueous phosphate and eutrophication. This study illustrates the need to reduce the internal phosphorus load from sediment and provides guidance for nutrient management and in-lake restoration treatment in Hongfeng Lake. The data presented here are limited, but serve to highlight the great potential of δ^(18)O_p as an effective tracer for identifying phosphate sources. | 17 | Numerical Simulation of Charging Performance of Combined Sensible-Latent Heat Storage System with a Macro-Encapsulation Method显示文摘In recent years,heat storage system combining sensible and latent heat materials has received more and more attentions.In this paper,we proposed the hybrid configuration with a macro-encapsulation,and analyzed its charging performance with different influencing factors by CFD simulation.In the case,the sensible heat storage materials are magnesia brick or HT concrete and the phase change materials(PCMs)are mixed molten salts.Firstly,we analyzed the heat transfer characteristics of the hybrid configuration in charging process.Then,we analyzed the effect of heating power on charging performance.The maximum temperature of the heating surface shall not exceed 500℃as the constraint condition,the heat storage capacity increases at first and then decreases with the heating power.Then,we compared the charging performance of different solid structure and the hybrid configurations.Whether magnesia brick or HT concrete,the charging performance of the solid structure is better than that of the hybrid configuration,because the thermal conductivity of the molten salt is significantly lower than that of the two sensible heat storage materials.Then,we compared the charging performance of different molten salts.The hybrid configuration with lower melting point molten salt has better performance because of more intensity natural convection.Finally,we analyzed the charging performance of the hybrid configuration used the composite phase change material(CPCM)with high thermal conductivity and specific heat.From the result,the charging performance increases by 22.5%compared with the solid structure.These results indicate that the hybrid configuration with the macro-encapsulation method is a potential form of thermal energy storage,but it needs to be further optimized. | WANG Wei PAN Zhenfei LEI Biao WU Yuting WANG Jingfu MA Chongfang | 2023 | Journal of Thermal Science2023,32,6: | 0 |
