| 2 | Prognosis of microscopic polyangiitis with renal involvement:report of 60 Chinese patients显示文摘With the widespread clinical application of renal biopsy and serum antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) testing, the percentage of renal injuries caused by systemic small vessel vasculitis (SVV) including microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) and Wegener’ s granulomatosis (WG) is on the rise in China. According to our previous report, SVV constituted 1.09% of diagnoses from all renal biopsies (5. 8% in secondary nephritis) and 14. 4% of that from renal biopsies from patients with chronic renal,failure, among which MPA is the most common type. Many studies reported that SVV with rapid progressive glomerulonephritis had poor prognosis with a 5-year renal survival less than 75%. However, there is a lack of large-sample statistical analysis about the long-term prognosis of SVV in China. Indeed, the clinical manifestations of SVV in China are quite different from those reported in other countries. | 3 | Effect of Wuziyanzong Pill on sperm quality and calcium ion content in oligoasthenospermia rats显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To study the effect of Wuziyanzong treatment on the sperm quality and content of calcium ions(Ca 2+) in oligoasthenospermia rats.METHODS:A model of oligoasthenospermia was induced in 50 Sprague Dawley rats by treatment with tripterygium glycosides at 30 mg/kg per day for 8 weeks.They were divided randomly into a model group,a positive group(Huangjingzanyu capsule,3.01 g/kg),and low,medium and high dose Wuziyanzong treatment groups(2.30,4.60,9.20 g/kg crude drug respectively) with 10 in each group.Another 10 rats were used as a control group.The rats in the control and model groups were administered distilled water,while the rats in the remaining groups were administered Wuziyanzong for 30 d.The epididymides were removed,spermatozoa recovered and the sperm density and viability were measured.The spermatozoa were purified and the contents of Ca 2+ in the cytoplasm and mitochondria were detected by flow cytometry and atomic absorption spectrometry,respectively.RESULTS:After 8 weeks of treatment with tripterygium glycosides,the sperm density,sperm activity and the Ca 2 + content of spermatozoa in the model rats were all significantly decreased compared with the control group(all P<0.05).After 30 d treatment,the sperm density and activity improved and the Ca 2 + content of sperm were increased significantly in the medium and high dose Wuziyanzong treatment groups in comparison with the model group(all P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The Wuziyanzong treatment increased sperm density,improved sperm viability and enhanced the content of Ca 2+ in the sperm cytoplasm and mitochondria in this rat model of oligoasthenospermia. | Tongsheng Wang Jinling Huang Deling Wu Qing Li Xiangguo Liu Han Chen Lei Qiao Dongdong Li Jun Li | 2012 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012，32，4： | 11 |

| 5 | Molecular evolution of the exon 2 of CHS genes and the possibility of its application to plant phylogenetic analysis显示文摘The exon 2 of chalcone synthase (CHS) gene is relatively conserved during evolution. In this study, three exon 2 fragments from two species in gymnosperm (Cycas panzhihuaensis, Ginkgo biloba ) and seven from four species in angiosperm (Magnolia denudata, Salix babylonica, Nymphaea tetragona, Camellia japonica) have been amplified by PCR from genomic DNA and sequenced. Together with other 73 sequences of CHS collected from EMBL database and literature, these sequences, which embrace 19 families of gymnosperm and angiosperm, have been analyzed for their phylogenetic relations by parsimony method. The result indicated that sequences from the same systematic family usually grouped together except those from Theaceae, Magnoliaceae and Nymphaeaceae. The relative rate test revealed the rate heterogeneity of CHS genes among the families. | 7 | The study of chemiluminescence in gastric and colonic carcinoma cell lines treated by anti-tumor drugs显示文摘AIM: To study the influence of chemotherapy on proliferationactivation of tumor cell by observing the change ofchemiluminescence (CL) and cell cycle in various tumor celllines after mitomycin C treated.METHODS: BGC823 and LoVocell lines were all cultured inRPMI-1640, and then were adjusted to a concentration of1x105 cells/ml in fresh media.and incubated for 24 h.Mitomycin C (100 ng@ml-1) was added to each bottle. Allindeses were examined after 24 h. No Mitomycin C wasadded in control group. Each group contained 8 samples.Flow cytometric analysis and luminol-dependent CL wereused to investigate the effect of mitomycin C on twogastrointestinal carcinoma cell lines.RESULTS: BGC823 and LoVo cell lines incubated with MMCfor 24 h. We discovered that the emergence of peak of CLstimulated by PHA was postponed significantly (BGC823:12.63±3.21 vs 4.50±1.04, LoVo: 13.25+2.96 vs 5.12±1.36,P<0.01) and the peak intension of CL was reduced significantly(BGC823:120.25±16.61 vs248.38±29.17, LoVo: 98.13±10.49vs267.50±18.56, P<0.01).The PI of cell lines was decreasedsignificantly (BGC823:51.87±4.82 vs 25.44±2.26, LoVo:47.11±1.04 vs 24.23±0.37, P<0.01) and the apoptoticfractions changed by contraries (BGC823:26.25+5.29 vs9.83±2.51, LoVo: 33.50±3.68 vs9.63±1.44, P<0.01).CONCLUSION: CL can be used to measure activation oftumor cells. We discovered that the ground CL intensions oftwo cell lines were not high but increased rapidly afterstimulation of PHA. The CL peak ranged from 4-5 minutes,and then decreased gradually. | 8 | Pinning controllability of autonomous Boolean control networks显示文摘Autonomous Boolean networks(ABNs), which are developed to model the Boolean networks(BNs)with regulatory delays, are well known for their advantages of characterizing the intrinsic evolution rules of biological systems such as the gene regulatory networks. As a special type of ABNs with binary inputs, the autonomous Boolean control networks(ABCNs) are introduced for designing and analyzing the therapeutic intervention strategies where the binary inputs represent whether a certain medicine is dominated or not. An important problem in the therapeutic intervention is to design a control sequence steering an ABCN from an undesirable location(implying a diseased state) to a desirable one(corresponding to a healthy state). Motivated by such background, this paper aims to investigate the reachability and controllability of ABCNs with pinning controllers. Several necessary and sufficient criteria are provided by resorting to the semi-tensor product techniques of matrices. Moreover, an effective pinning control algorithm is presented for steering an ABCN from any given states to the desired state in the shortest time period. | 9 | An Abrupt Rainfall Decrease over the Asian Inland Plateau Region around 1999 and the Possible Underlying Mechanism显示文摘A decadal change in summer rainfall in the Asian inland plateau(AIP) region is identified around 1999. This decadal change is characterized by an abrupt decrease in summer rainfall of about 15.7% of the climatological average amount,leading to prolonged drought in the Asian inland plateau region. Both the surface air temperature and potential evapotranspiration in the AIP show a significant increase, while the soil moisture exhibits a decrease, after the late 1990s. Furthermore,the normalized difference vegetation index shows an apparent decreasing trend during 1999–2007. Three different drought indices—the standardized precipitation index, the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index, and the self-calibrating Palmer drought severity index—present pronounced climate anomalies during 1999–2007, indicating dramatic drought exacerbation in the region after the late 1990s. This decadal change in the summer rainfall may be attributable to a wave-like teleconnection pattern from Western Europe to Asia. This study developed a feasible method to degrade citric acid in red raspberry juice using a novel characterized Issatchenkia terricola WJL-G4 isolated from red raspberry fruits. I. terricola WJL-G4 exhibited a potent capability of reducing the citric acid contents from(22.8 ± 0.08) g/L to(6.2 ± 0.02) g/L within 36 h fermentation, then completely depleted after 48 h. Furthermore, the contents of phenolic compound, including neochlorogenic acid, p-coumaric acid, raspberry ketone, and rutin significantly increased after 36 h fermentation. Fermentation increased total flavonoid contents in red raspberry juice, compared to that in control group. Volatile profiles exhibited to be enriched after fermentation, which contributed to the improvement of the juice taste. | 16 | A 18FDG PET/CT-based volume parameter is a predictor of overall survival in patients with local advanced gastric cancer显示文摘Objective: The present study investigated the prognosis value of preoperative fluorodeoxyglucose(FDG)positron emission tomography/computed tomography(PET/CT) in patients with local advanced gastric cancer(LAGC).Methods: In total, 144 patients [median age 63(range: 48-80) years old] with LAGC underwent 18 F-FDG PET/CT prior to any treatment. The maximum standardized uptake values(SUVmax), mean standardized uptake values(SUVmean), metabolic tumor volume(MTV) and total lesion glycolysis(TLG) of the primary lesion were measured on PET/CT and correlated with clinicopathological features and survival.Results: Significant differences in SUVmean, SUVmax, MTV and TLG were found according to Lauren’s classification, histologic grade and T category(P<0.05). During the 26.5-month follow-up, 51(35.4%) patients died and 70(48.6%) exhibited disease progression. The optimal thresholds of MTV and TLG were 15.1 cm^3 and 47.3 cm^3, respectively. The 3-year progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS) for patients with high TLG values were 30% and 38% compared to 38% and 47% for low TLG values, respectively(P<0.05). Univariate and multifactor analyses demonstrated that lymph node metastasis and T stage were independent prognostic factors for PFS;T stage, histologic grade and TLG were independent prognostic factors for OS(P<0.05). However,no detailed researches have been documented whether winter and spring rapeseed lines have potential for Chinese semiwinter rapeseed hybrid breeding. The objectives of this study are to estimate the potential of winter and spring rapeseed for semi-winter rapeseed hybrid breeding,and to investigate the association of general combining ability(GCA) with adaptation of parental lines by combining with the data in our previous studies. Four winter and four spring male sterile lines were crossed with 14 Chinese semi-winter rapeseed lines to develop 112 hybrids,which were evaluated together with their parents for seed yield under three environments in China. The exotic parental lines were not adapted to local environment as demonstrated by late flowering,low seed weight and poor seed yield per se. However,the hybrids,especially derived from winter rapeseed exhibited strong heterosis for seed yield,indicating that winter rapeseed germplasm has a great potential for rapeseed hybrid breeding in China. Our data suggested a strong association of GCA with their adaptation ability of parental lines,since high to middle correlations were found for local parental lines and low correlations for exotic parental lines under spring,winter and semi-winter eco-growth environments.
