| 1 | An environmental flow assessment method based on the relationships between flow and ecological response: A case study of the Three Gorges Reservoir and its downstream reach显示文摘The current environmental flow assessment of Chinese rivers is thought to have three shortcomings: The first is that environmental flow requirements of reservoirs in dammed rivers are usually not explicitly considered; the second is that enough attentions have not been paid to the inherent links between flow regime and ecological processes; the third is that most studies focus on the variable range of merely one hydrological element such as discharge needed by riverine ecosystems. Here, first proposed is a holistic method for environmental flow assessment, the flow-ecological response relationship method that is suitable for large rivers with relatively abundant ecological data. Based on the conceptual models and quantitative relationships between flow and ecological response, this method comprehensively considers the ecological conservation requirements of both reservoir and its downstream reach. Then, it is applied to assessing the environmental flows of the Three Gorges Reservoir and its downstream reach by the following steps: 1) Construction of conceptual models of flow-ecological response; 2) identification of ecological targets of environmental flows and their key periods; 3) development of the quantitative relationships between hydrological indicators and ecological indictors; 4) preliminary assessment of environmental flow according to the tradeoff between ecological targets and water demands of human. The environmental flow hydrographs obtained have explicit ecological conservation targets, time schedule of achieving each target, and characteristics of multiple hydrological elements such as flow, water level, frequency, timing, duration and rate of change. | 15 | Electromagnetic wave absorption and mechanical properties of SiC nanowire/low-melting-point glass composites sintered at 580°C in air显示文摘Si C nanowires are excellent high-temperature electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbing materials. However, their polymer matrix composites are difficult to work at temperatures above 300℃, while their ceramic matrix composites must be prepared above 1000℃ in an inert atmosphere. Thus, for addressing the abovementioned problems, SiC/low-melting-point glass composites were well designed and prepared at 580℃ in an air atmosphere. Based on the X-ray diffraction results, SiC nanowires were not oxidized during air atmosphere sintering because of the low sintering temperature. Additionally, SiC nanowires were uniformly distributed in the glass matrix material. The composites exhibited good mechanical and EMW absorption properties. As the filling ratio of SiC nanowires increased from 5wt%to 20wt%, the Vickers hardness and flexural strength of the composite reached HV 564 and 213 MPa, which were improved by 27.7%and 72.8%, respectively, compared with the low-melting-point glass. Meanwhile, the dielectric loss and EMW absorption ability of SiC nanowires at 8.2–12.4 GHz were also gradually improved. The dielectric loss ability of low-melting-point glass was close to 0. However, when the filling ratio of SiC nanowires was 20wt%, the composite showed a minimum reflection loss (RL) of-20.2 dB and an effective absorption (RL≤-10 dB) bandwidth of2.3 GHz at an absorber layer thickness of 2.3 mm. | 17 | Transcriptomic Analysis of the Tolerance Response to Dehydration and Rehydration in Wheat Seedlings显示文摘Drought is the main abiotic stress that restricts wheat production.The rapid development of sequencing technology and its widespread application to various fields have revealed the structural characteristics and regulation of related genes through gene expression analysis.Here,we studied responses of wheat plants under drought and rewatering conditions,using morphological and physiological indicators.Moreover,a transcriptome analysis was conducted on Jingmai 12,a drought-resistant wheat strain,to explore the mechanism underlying the response of drought-resistant wheat seedlings to drought stress at the transcriptome level.Drought stress caused morphological and physiological changes in both drought-resistant and-sensitive varieties,but to a greater extent in the drought-sensitive specimen.After re-watering,the drought-resistant wheat showed greater ability to recover than the drought-sensitive wheat.Transcriptome sequencing of Jingmai 12 revealed 97,422 genes,including 80,373 known genes and 17,049 newly predicted genes.The observed upregulation of genes was mostly involved in hormone and signal transduction,carbon metabolism,amino acid synthesis,small molecule production,transmembrane transport,ROS detoxification and defense,drought response protein,and protective enzyme activity.Downregulated genes were mostly involved in photosynthesis,lipid metabolism,signaling,and auxin response.Upon rehydration,these genes and metabolic pathways returned to normal.Our results suggest that all these changes are adaptations to drought stress.Through morphological adaptation,physiological regulation,and the expression of drought-induced genes,normal growth of drought-resistant varieties under drought stress can be promoted.These results increase our understanding of the transcriptomic changes taking place in drought-resistant wheat seedlings under drought stress,and provide a direction for future investigations. | Ping Zhang Zhiyou Kong Junna Liu Yongjiang Liu Qianchao Wang Xiuju Huan Li Li Yunfeng Jiang Peng Qin | 2022 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,2: | 1 |
