| 2 | Systematic review of the outcomes of surgical resection for intermediate and advanced Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage hepatocellular carcinoma:A critical appraisal of the evidence显示文摘AIM To perform a systematic review to determine the survival outcomes after curative resection of intermediate and advanced hepatocellular carcinomas(HCC).METHODS A systematic review of the published literature was performed using the PubM ed database from 1 st January 1999 to 31 st Dec 2014 to identify studies that reported outcomes of liver resection as the primary curative treatment for Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC) stage B or C HCC. The primary end point was to determine the overall survival(OS) and disease free survival(DFS) of liver resection of HCC in BCLC stage B or C in patients with adequate liver reserve(i.e., Child's A or B status). The secondary end points were to assess the morbidity and mortality of liver resection in large HCC(defined as lesions larger than 10 cm in diameter) and to compare the OS and DFS after surgical resection of solitary vs multifocal HCC.RESULTS We identified 74 articles which met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed in this systematic review. Analysis of the resection outcomes of the included studies were grouped according to(1) BCLC stage B or C HCC,(2) Size of HCC and(3) multifocal tumors. The median 5-year OS of BCLC stage B was 38.7%(range 10.0-57.0); while the median 5-year OS of BCLC stage C was 20.0%(range 0.0-42.0). The collective median 5-year OS of both stages was 27.9%(0.0-57.0). In examining the morbidity and mortality following liver resection in large HCC, the pooled RR for morbidity [RR(95%CI) = 1.00(0.76-1.31)] and mortality [RR(95%CI) = 1.15(0.73-1.80)] were not significant. Within the spectrum of BCLC B and C lesions, tumors greater than 10 cm were reported to have median 5-year OS of 33.0% and multifocal lesions 54.0%.CONCLUSION Indication for surgical resection should be extended to BCLC stage B lesions in selected patients. | 3 | Buttress plate fixation of coronoid process fractures via a medial approach显示文摘Purpose:To assess the clinical and radiographic outcomes of coronoid process fractures surgically managed with buttress plate fixation via a medial approach.Methods:A retrospective review of all coronoid fractures surgically fixed in our institution using a buttress plate technique via a medial approach between June 2012 and April 2015 by the senior author was performed.These fractures were all sizeable fractures contributing to persistent elbow instability in terrible triad or varus posteromedial rotatory instability injury patterns.A prospective telephone questionnaire was conducted to assess patient outcomes using the disabilities of the arm,shoulder and hand(DASH)score and Mayo hlbow performance score(MEPS).Results:Twelve patients were included in the study,comprising 10 males and 2 females with an average age of 39 years(range,19-72 years).Mean follow-up was 16 months(range.4-18 months).The average time to radiographic union was 4 months(range.3-7 months).Range of motion measurements at final follow-up were obtained in 11 out of 12 patients,with one patient defaulting follow-up.All 11 patients displayed a functional elbow range of motion of at least 30°-130°.with an average arc of motion of 130°(range.110°-140°).mean elbow flexion of 134°(range.110°-140°)and mean flexion contracture of 3°(range.0°-20°).The mean DASH score was 16(range.2.5-43.8)and the mean MEPS was 75(range.65-100).Complications observed included one patient with a superfic ial wound infection which resolved with a course of oral antibiotics and one patient with radiographic evidence of heterotopic ossification which was conservatively managed.No residual elbow instability was observed and no reoperations were performed.Conclusion:Buttress plate fixation via a medial approach of coronoid process fractures that contribute to persistent elbow instability represents a reliable method of treatment that produces satisfactory and predictable outcomes. | Kelvin Kah Ho Lor Dong Hao Toon Andy Teck Huat Wee | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Traumatology2019，22，5： | 9 |
| 4 | Geometrical-Analysis-Based Algorithm for Stereo Matching of Single-Lens Binocular and Multi-Ocular Stereovision System显示文摘A geometrical analysis based algorithm is proposed to achieve the stereo matching of a single-lens prism based stereovision system. By setting the multi-face prism in frontal position of the static CCD (CM-140MCL) camera, equivalent stereo images with different orientations are captured synchronously by virtual cameras which are defined by two boundary lines: the optical axis and CCD camera field of view boundary. Subsequently, the geometrical relationship between the 2D stereo images and corresponding 3D scene is established by employing two fundamentals: ray sketching in which all the pertinent points, lines, and planes are expressed in the 3D camera coordinates and the rule of refraction. Landing on this relationship, the epipolar geometry is thus obtained by fitting a set of corresponding candidate points and thereafter, stereo matching of the prism based stereovision system is obtained. Moreover, the unique geometrical properties of the imaging system allow the proposed method free from the complicated camera calibration procedures and to be easily generalized from binocular and tri-ocular to multi-ocular stereovision systems. | 7 | Metabolic disturbances associated with antipsychotic drug treatment in patients with schizophrenia:State-of-the-art and future perspectives显示文摘Metabolic disturbances and obesity are major cardiovascular risk factors in patients with schizophrenia,resulting in a higher mortality rate and shorter life expectancy compared with those in the general population.Although schizophrenia and metabolic disturbances may share certain genetic or pathobiological risks,antipsychotics,particularly those of second generation,may further increase the risk of weight gain and metabolic disturbances in patients with schizophrenia.This review included articles on weight gain and metabolic disturbances related to antipsychotics and their mechanisms,monitoring guidelines,and interventions.Nearly all antipsychotics are associated with weight gain,but the degree of the weight gain varies considerably.Although certain neurotransmitter receptorbinding affinities and hormones are correlated with weight gain and specific metabolic abnormalities,the precise mechanisms underlying antipsychoticinduced weight gain and metabolic disturbances remain unclear.Emerging evidence indicates the role of genetic polymorphisms associated with antipsychotic-induced weight gain and antipsychotic-induced metabolic disturbances.Although many guidelines for screening and monitoring antipsychotic-induced metabolic disturbances have been developed,they are not routinely implemented in clinical care.Numerous studies have also investigated strategies for managing antipsychotic-induced metabolic disturbances.Thus,patients and their caregivers must be educated and motivated to pursue a healthier life through smoking cessation and dietary and physical activity programs.If lifestyle intervention fails,switching to another antipsychotic drug with a lower metabolic risk or adding adjunctive medication to mitigate weight gain should be considered.Antipsychotic medications are essential for schizophrenia treatment,hence clinicians should monitor and manage the resulting weight gain and metabolic disturbances. | Shen-Chieh Chang Kah Kheng Goh Mong-Liang Lu | 2021 | World Journal of Psychiatry2021，11，10： | 3 |
| 8 | Virtual Epipolar Line Construction of Single-Lens Bi-Prism Stereovision System显示文摘This paper proposes a simple geometrical ray based approach to solve the stereo correspondence problem for the single-lens bi-prism stereovision system. Each image captured using this system can be divided into two sub-images on the left and right and these sub-images are generated by two virtual cameras which are produced by the bi-prism. This stereovision system is equivalent to the conventional two camera system and the two sub-images captured have disparities which can be used to reconstruct back the 3-dimensional (3D) scene. The stereo correspondence problem of this system will be solved geometrically by applying the epipolar geometry constraint on the generated virtual cameras instead of the real CCD camera. | 9 | Effects of vitamin E on stroke: a systematic review with meta- analysis and trial sequential analysis显示文摘There are several previous studies on the association of vitamin E with prevention of stroke but the findings remain controversial.We have conducted a systematic review,meta-analysis together with trial sequential analysis of randomised controlled trials to evaluate the effect of vitamin E supplementation versus placebo/no vitamin E on the risk reduction of total,fatal,non-fatal,haemorrhagic and ischaemic stroke.Relevant studies were identified by searching online databases through Medline,PubMed and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.A total of 18 studies with 148016 participants were included in the analysis.There was no significant difference in the prevention of total stroke(RR(relative risk)=0.98,95% CI 0.92-1.04,p=0.57),fatal stroke(RR=0.96,95% CI 0.77-1.20,p=0.73)and non-fatal stroke(RR=0.96,95% CI 0.88-1.05,p=0.35).Subgroup analyses were performed under each category(total stroke,fatal stroke and non-fatal stroke)and included the following subgroups(types of prevention,source and dosage of vitamin E and vitamin E alone vs control).The findings in all subgroup analyses were statistically insignificant.In stroke subtypes analysis,vitamin E showed significant risk reduction in ischaemic stroke(RR=0.92,95% CI 0.85-0.99,p=0.04)but not in haemorrhagic stroke(RR=1.17,95%CI 0.98-1.39,p=0.08).However,the trial sequential analysis demonstrated that more studies were needed to control random errors.Limitations of this study include the following:trials design may not have provided sufficient power to detect a change in stroke outcomes,participants may have had different lifestyles or health issues,there were a limited number of studies available for subgroup analysis,studies were mostly done in developed countries,and the total sample size for all included studies was insufficient to obtain a meaningful result from meta-analysis.In conclusion,there is still a lack of statistically significant evidence of the effects of vitamin E on the risk reduction of stroke.Nevertheless,vitamin E may offer some benefits in the prevention of ischaemic stroke and additional well-designed randomised controlled trials are needed to arrive at a definitive finding.PROSPERO registration number:CRD42020167827. | Hong Chuan Loh Renly Lim Kai Wei Lee Chin Yik Ooi Deik Roy Chuan Irene Looi Yuen Kah Hay Nurzalina Abdul Karim Khan | 2021 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021，6，1： | 2 |

| 11 | Process Mineralogy of Lateritic Nickel Ore显示文摘This paper presents a methodology for studying low grade lateritic nickel ore, which usually presents complex mineralogy, with widespread nickel in several mineral phases. The study is focused on determining the mineralogy and the distribution of nickel in the bearing minerals. Laboratory assays comprise homogenization, sampling and particle size analysis. Chemical analyses by X-ray fluorescence are performed in all fractions sizes, while mineralogical assessments by X-ray diffraction are carried out for head sample. The mineralogical composition of the samples and the partition of main elements in the bearing minerals are assayed by size fraction through automated image analysis software (MLA) coupled to a scanning electron microscope (SEM).
