1Electroacupuncture inhibits annulus fibrosis cell apoptosis in vivo via TNF-α-TNFR1-caspase-8 and integrin β1/Akt signaling pathways显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To examine whether electroacupuncture(EA) treatment inhibited cell apoptosis of intervertebral annulus fibrosis(AF) via tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)-tumor necrosis factor receptor 1(TNFR1)-caspase-8 and integrin β1/Akt signaling pathways in a rat model of cervical intervertebral disc degeneration caused by unbalanced dynamic and static forces.METHODS: Thirty-two Sprague-Dawley rats were included in this study, of which 24 rats underwent surgery to induce cervical intervertebral disc degeneration, while eight rats received EA treatment at Dazhui(GV 14). Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect TNF-α, TNFR1, and caspase-8Apoptosis of AF cells was examined with terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d UTP-biotin nick end labeling(TUNEL) staining. The m RNA and protein expression levels of integrin β1 andAkt were evaluated with real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis, respectively.RESULTS: Treatment with EA decreased TUNEL-positive AF cells and lowered TNF-α, TNFR1 and caspase-8 positive cells compared with control groups. EA treatment also increased integrin β1and Akt m RNA and protein levels compared with controls.CONCLUSION: Treatment with EA inhibits AF cell apoptosis through suppression of the TNF-α-TNFR1-caspase-8 signal pathway and increases the expression of integrin β1 and Akt. 3Bilateral swap agreement and renminbi settlement in cross-border trade显示文摘This research empirically examines the impact of China’s renminbi(RMB)Bilateral Swap Agreements(BSAs)on the usage of the currency in cross-border trade transactions.By using a unique dataset from SWIFT including cross-border settlement messages of 91 countries/regions between October 2010 and November 2015,we confirm that the signing of an RMB BSA helps increase the number,value and proportion of the RMB settlement in cross-border trade.Our results are robust with respect to the choice of different models,including multi-level mixed model,two-stage regression model,and difference-in-difference model.In addition to justifying the effectiveness of China’s BSA-signing strategy to promote the RMB usage in trade settlement,our results clarify that the signing of those RMB BSAs is not purely for China’s political ends as some scholars claim.Ke Song Le Xia 2020Economic and Political Studies2020,8,3:5
4Biodegradable magnesium pins enhanced the healing of transverse patellar fracture in rabbits显示文摘Displaced fractures of patella often require open reduction surgery and internal fixation to restore the extensor continuity and articular congruity.Fracture fixation with biodegradable magnesium(Mg)pins enhanced fracture healing.We hypothesized that fixation with Mg pins and their degradation over time would enhance healing of patellar fracture radiologically,mechanically,and histologically.Transverse patellar fracture surgery was performed on thirty-two 18-weeks old female New Zealand White Rabbits.The fracture was fixed with a pin made of stainless steel or pure Mg,and a figure-of-eight stainless steel band wire.Samples were harvested at week 8 or 12,and assessed with microCT,tensile testing,microindentation,and histology.Microarchitectural analysis showed that Mg group showed 12%higher in the ratio of bone volume to tissue volume at week 8,and 38.4%higher of bone volume at week 12.Tensile testing showed that the failure load and stiffness of Mg group were 66.9%and 104%higher than the control group at week 8,respectively.At week 12,Mg group was 60.8%higher in ultimate strength than the control group.Microindentation showed that,compared to the Control group,Mg group showed 49.9%higher Vickers hardness and 31%higher elastic modulus at week 8 and 12,respectively.At week 12,the new bone of Mg group remodelled to laminar bone,but those of the control group remained woven bone-like.Fixation of transverse patellar fracture with Mg pins and its degradation enhanced new bone formation and mechanical properties of the repaired patella compared to the Control group.Dick Ho Kiu Chow Jiali Wang Peng Wan Lizhen Zheng Michael Tim Yun Ong Le Huang Wenxue Tong Lili Tan Ke Yang Ling Qin 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,11:3
5A multivariate grey incidence model for different scale data based on spatial pyramid pooling显示文摘In order to solve the problem that existing multivariate grey incidence models cannot be applied to time series on different scales, a new model is proposed based on spatial pyramid pooling.Firstly, local features of multivariate time series on different scales are pooled and aggregated by spatial pyramid pooling to construct n levels feature pooling matrices on the same scale. Secondly,Deng's multivariate grey incidence model is introduced to measure the degree of incidence between feature pooling matrices at each level. Thirdly, grey incidence degrees at each level are integrated into a global incidence degree. Finally, the performance of the proposed model is verified on two data sets compared with a variety of algorithms. 6Hot Deformation Behavior of an Ultra-High-Strength Fe–Ni–Co-Based Maraging Steel显示文摘Hot processing behavior of an ultra-high-strength Fe–Ni–Co-based maraging steel was studied in temperature range of 900–1200℃and strain rate range of 0.001–10 s^-1.Deformation processing parameters and optimum hot working window were characterized via flow stress analysis,constitutive equation construction,hot processing map calculation and microstructure evolution,respectively.Critical strain value for dynamic recrystallization was determined through theoretical mathematical differential method:the inflection point ofθ–σand-αθ/ασ-σcurves.It was found that the flow stress increased with the decrease in deformation temperature and increase in the strain rate.The power dissipation maps in the strain range of 0.1–0.6 were entirely similar with the tendency of contour lines which implied that strain had no strong effect on the dissipation maps.Nevertheless,the instability maps showed obvious strain sensitivity with increasing strain,which was ascribed to the flow localization and instability.The optimized hot processing window of the experimental steel was obtained as 1100–1200℃/0.001–1 s^-1 and 1000–1100℃/0.001–0.1 s^-1,with the efficiency range of 20–40%.Owing to high Mo content in the experimental steel,high dynamic activation energy,Q=439.311 kJ mol^-1,was achieved,indicating that dynamic recrystallization was difficult to occur in the hot deformation process,which was proved via microstructure analysis under different hot deformation conditions.Le Zhang Wei Wang M. 8Accurate and generalizable quantitative scoring of liver steatosis from ultrasound images via scalable deep learning显示文摘BACKGROUND Hepatic steatosis is a major cause of chronic liver disease.Two-dimensional(2D)ultrasound is the most widely used non-invasive tool for screening and monitoring,but associated diagnoses are highly subjective.AIM To develop a scalable deep learning(DL)algorithm for quantitative scoring of liver steatosis from 2D ultrasound images.METHODS Using multi-view ultrasound data from 3310 patients,19513 studies,and 228075 images from a retrospective cohort of patients received elastography,we trained a DL algorithm to diagnose steatosis stages(healthy,mild,moderate,or severe)from clinical ultrasound diagnoses.Performance was validated on two multiscanner unblinded and blinded(initially to DL developer)histology-proven cohorts(147 and 112 patients)with histopathology fatty cell percentage diagnoses and a subset with FibroScan diagnoses.We also quantified reliability across scanners and viewpoints.Results were evaluated using Bland-Altman and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)analysis.RESULTS The DL algorithm demonstrated repeatable measurements with a moderate number of images(three for each viewpoint)and high agreement across three premium ultrasound scanners.High diagnostic performance was observed across all viewpoints:Areas under the curve of the ROC to classify mild,moderate,and severe steatosis grades were 0.85,0.91,and 0.93,respectively.The DL algorithm outperformed or performed at least comparably to FibroScan control attenuation parameter(CAP)with statistically significant improvements for all levels on the unblinded histology-proven cohort and for“=severe”steatosis on the blinded histology-proven cohort.CONCLUSION The DL algorithm provides a reliable quantitative steatosis assessment across view and scanners on two multi-scanner cohorts.Diagnostic performance was high with comparable or better performance than the CAP.Bowen Li Dar-In Tai Ke Yan Yi-Cheng Chen Cheng-Jen Chen Shiu-Feng Huang Tse-Hwa Hsu Wan-Ting Yu Jing Xiao Lu Le Adam P Harrison 2022World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,22:2
9Surfactant-assisted fabrication of graphene frameworks endowing epoxy composites with superior thermal conductivity显示文摘With the rapid growth in electronic device performance,there has been an increasing demand for thermally conductive polymer composites to handle the thermal management issue,thus contributing to the great importance to develop the graphene framework,which is evaluated as the most promising reinforcements for enhancing the thermal conductivity of polymer.Vacuum filtration is a common method to fabricate graphene framework,whereas,it is available to prepare a framework with centimeter-scale thickness by filtrating the graphene-water dispersion,due to the fact of sample cracking caused by the mismatch of surface tension between graphene and water.In this work,a surfactantassisted strategy was proposed by adjusting the surface tension of the water close to that of graphene first,then performing a conventional filtration process,to fabricate graphene framework.As a result,a thick graphene framework(thickness:3 cm)was successfully prepared,and after embedding into epoxy,the framework endows the composite(13.6 wt%)with a high in-plane thermal conductivities of12.4 W/mK,which is equivalent to≈64 times higher than that of neat epoxy.Our method is simple and compatible with the conventional filtration process,suggesting great potential for the mass-production of graphene framework to meet the practical application requirements.Fan Zhang Chen Ye Wen Dai Le Lv Qilong Yuan Kuan W.A.Chee Ke Yang Nan Jiang Cheng-Te Lin Zhaolin Zhan Dan Dai He Li 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,1:2
10Highly Efficient Base Editing in Viral Genome Based on Bacterial Artificial Chromosome Using a Cas9-Cytidine Deaminase Fused Protein显示文摘Viruses evolve rapidly and continuously threaten animal health and economy,posing a great demand for rapid and efficient genome editing technologies to study virulence mechanism and develop effective vaccine.We present a highly efficient viral genome manipulation method using CRISPR-guided cytidine deaminase.We cloned pseudorabies virus genome into bacterial artificial chromosome,and used CRISPR-guided cytidine deaminase to directly convert cytidine(C)to uridine(U)to induce premature stop mutagenesis in viral genes.The editing efficiencies were 100%.Comprehensive bioinformatic analysis revealed that a large number of editable sites exist in pseudorabies virus(PRV)genomes.Notably,in our study viral genome exists as a plasmid in E.coli,suggesting that this method is virus species-independent.This application of base-editing provided an alternative approach to generate mutant virus and might accelerate study on virulence and vaccine development.Ke Zheng Fang-Fang Jiang Le Su Xin Wang Yu-Xin Chen Huan-Chun Chen Zheng-Fei Liu 2020Virologica Sinica2020,35,2:2

12Effects of active and passive training apparatus combined with rehabilitation training on lower limb function of stroke patients during recovery period显示文摘BACKGROUND: Stroke patients always spontaneously do some learning and training of motor functions; however,learning and training are not prompt and right,while patients do not have enough activity amounts. Active and passive motor training apparatus is aimed directly at lower limb training so as to stimulate nerve function through stimulating muscular movement. Based on motor mileage,motor time,various power supplies and velocity of active and passive training apparatus,we can understand the training condition and adjust training program. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of grade-Ⅲ rehabilitation training combining with active and passive training apparatus on lower limb function,muscle strength and activity of daily living (ADL) in stroke patients during recovery period. DESIGN: Contrast observation. SETTING: Department of Rehabilitation,Jilin Academic Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 80 patients with stroke-induced hemiplegia after stabilizing vital signs for 2 weeks were selected from Department of Rehabilitation,Jilin Academic Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January to June 2007. There were 47 males and 33 females,and their ages ranged from 41 to 75 years. All patients met the diagnostic criteria of the Fourth National Cerebrovascular Disease Academic Meeting in 1995 and were diagnosed as cerebral hemorrhage or cerebral infarction through CT or MRI examinations in clinic. Patients and their parents provided the confirmed consent. Based on therapeutic orders of hospitalization,patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group with 40 patients in each group. METHODS: Patients in the control group received physical therapy and occupational therapy combining with rehabilitative treatment based on grade-Ⅲ rehabilitative treatment program,which was set by the National Cerebrovascular Disease Topic Group. In addition,patients in the treatment group were trained with active and passive motor training apparatus based on therapeutic procedures in the control group. The active and passive motor training apparatus was designed as the therapeutic style of nervous system; otherwise,the treatment was performed once a day,30 minutes once and 6 times per week. Four weeks were regarded as a course. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Before treatment,at 2 weeks after treatment and after the first course,bare-handed muscle strength examination was used to check muscle strength and muscular tension; in addition,simple Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA) and diagnostic criteria which were set by the Fourth National Cerebrovascular Disease Academic Meeting were used to evaluate motor function of limbs and total ADL. RESULTS: All 80 stroke patients were involved in the final analysis. ① Muscle strength of lower limbs was improved in both treatment group and control group. After the first course,muscle strength in the treatment group was obviously superior to that in the control group (χ2=6.64,P < 0.05). ② After the first course,Fugl-Meyer scores in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group,and there was significant difference (t =2.82,P < 0.05). ③ Muscular tension of lower limbs was not changed in both treatment group and control group after treatment (P > 0.05). ④ After the first course,ADL in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (P < 0.05). Among patients in the treatment group,24 cases (60%) had obvious progress,16 (40%) had progress,and 0 (0%) did not have any changes. On the other hand,among patients in the control group,13 cases (32.5%) had obvious progress,26 (65%) had progress,and 1 (2.5%) did not have any changes. CONCLUSION: Rehabilitation training combining with active and passive motor training apparatus can promote the recovery of lower limb disorder,increase muscle strength,control spasm,improve ADL and cause satisfactorily clinical effects in stroke patients during recovery period.Yang Tian Lanfang Shi Lei Jing Le Li Bin Chen Ke wei Zhao 2007Neural Regeneration Research2007,2,10:1
