2Laminar natural convection characteristics in an enclosure with heated hexagonal block for non-Newtonian power law fluids显示文摘This work illustrates the steady state, two dimensional natural convective flow and heat transfer features in square enclosure containing heated hexagonal block maintained either at constant wall temperature(CWT) or uniform heat flux(UHF) thermal conditions. Governing equations(mass, momentum and energy) are solved by using finite volume method(FVM) with 3rd order accurate QUICK discretization scheme and SIMPLE algorithm for range of field pertinent parameters such as, Grashof number(10~3≤ Gr ≤ 10~6), Prandtl number(1 ≤ Pr ≤ 100) and power law index(0.5 ≤ n ≤ 1.5). The analysis of momentum and heat transfer characteristics are delineated by evolution of streamlines, isotherms, variation of average Nusselt number value and Colburn factor for natural convection(j_(nH)). A remarkable change is observed on fluid flow and thermal distribution pattern in cavity for both thermal conditions. Nusselt number shows linear variation with Grashof and Prandtl numbers; while rate of heat transfer by convection decreases for power law index value. Higher heat transfer rate can be achieved by using uniform heat flux condition. 12Modified Sliding Mode Observer-based Direct Torque Control of Six-phase Asymmetric Induction Motor Drive显示文摘In this study,a six-phase induction asymmetric induction motor(SPAIM)was examined,whose performance surpasses that of its three-phase counterpart,with regard to the torque density,torque pulsation,fault tolerance,power rating per inverter lag,and noise characteristics.Speed-encoder-less direct torque control(DTC)for SPAIM with virtual voltage vectors(VVVs)and a modified sliding mode observer(MSMO)are described.The SPAIM model was developed using a stationaryα-βframe for DTC.The conventional DTC of the SPAIM drive is a simple extension of DTC for a 3-Φmotor drive that yields higher distortion in the stator currents.To mitigate the large amount of distortion in the stator current,VVVs were used to significantly reduce the harmonic content in the stator currents.Furthermore,to overcome the large amount of chattering observed in the case of a traditional sliding mode observer,particularly under low-speed operation,the MSMO was employed to reduce chattering even under low-speed operation.The performance of the proposed observer was verified under all the operating conditions suitable for the propulsion mode of an electric vehicle using Matlab/Simulink,and the results were experimentally validated.Krunal Shah Abid Mansuri Rakesh Maurya 2023Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering2023,9,3:0
13Mixed convection in the heated semi-circular lid-driven cavity for non-Newtonian power-law fluids: Effect of presence and shape of the block显示文摘The present work delineates the hydrodynamics and thermal characteristics due to mixed convection in the liddriven semi-circular cavity affected by the presence of the adiabatic block at its geometric center for twodimensional,steady-state,laminar and for non-Newtonian power-law fluids.The semi-circular cavity has a diameter of D.The horizontal wall/lid is sliding with a uniform horizontal velocity(u=U)and is subjugated to the ambient thermal condition;while the curved surface is subjugated to a higher isothermal temperature.The convective characteristics inside the system is explored for the broad range of Richardson number(0.1≤Ri≤10),Prandtl number(1≤Pr≤100)and non-Newtonian power-law index(0.5≤n≤1.5)at a constant Grashof number of 10~4.Apart from this,the effect of shape(cross-section)of the inserted block,i.e.,circular,square and triangular on heat transfer characteristics has also been explored.It is observed that the shear thickening fluids display better cooling characteristics.Besides,the cavity with immersed triangular block shows better heat transfer results than the circular and square blocks.The deviations observed in the flow and heat transfer characteristics in the cavity by inserting an adiabatic block as compared with cavity without block have been ascertained by calculating normalized Nusselt number(Nu^N).The presence of the block was found to have a diminishing effect on the heat transfer due to convection in the cavity.In the end,the results of the study are summarized in the form of a predictive correlation exhibiting the functional dependence of average Nusselt number with Prandtl number,power-law index,and Richardson number.Krunal M.Gangawane Hakan F.Oztop 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,5:0
