Investigation of cubic Pt alloys for ammonia oxidation reaction显示文摘As a promising fuel candidate, ammonia has been successtully used as anode feed in alkaline fuel cells. However, current technology in catalysts for ammonia electro-oxidation reaction(AOR)with respect to both cost and performance is inadequate to ensure large scale commercial application of direct ammonia fuel cells.Recent studies found that alloying Pt with different transition metals and controlling the morphology of catalysts can improve the AOR activity, and thus potentially can solve the cost issue.Herein,(100)-terminated Pt-M nanocubes(M=3d-transition metals Fe,Co,Ni,Zn)are synthesized via wet-chemistry method and their catalytic activities toward AOR are evaluated. The addition of Fe,Co,Ni and Zn elements can enhance the AOR activity due to decrease in oxophilicity of platinum and bifunctional mechanism.Pt-Zn exhibits the maximum mass activity and specific ativity with values of 0.41 A/mgpt and 169 mA/cm2 that are 1.6 and 1.8 times higher than Pt nanocubes,respectively.Pt-Fe,Pt-Co and PI-Ni nanocubes also ilustrate higher mass and specific activities compared to Pt nanocubes. | Yat Tung Chan Kumar Siddharth Minhua Shao | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,7: | 10
Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on semen quality in male partners of infertile couples: a hospitalbased observational study显示文摘The effects of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic on male fertility have received considerable attention because human testes contain high levels of angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 receptors, through which severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)can enter.Early studies showed decreases in semen quality during and after recovery from COVID-19.However,no semen quality studies have examined the effects of widespread subclinical and mild disease,as well as changes in lifestyle, psychosocial behavior, intake of dietary supplements, and stress. This cross-sectional study compared semen quality parameters in male partners of infertile couples between men who underwent semen analysis before the COVID-19 pandemic(prepandemic group)and men who underwent semen analysis during the pandemic period(pandemic group);the analysis sought to clarify the overall effects of the pandemic. No participants in the pandemic group had experienced clinically overt disease.Among the 239 participants, mean body weight(P=0.001),mean body mass index(P<0.001),median sperm concentration(P=0.014),total sperm count(P=0.006),and total percentages of motile(P=0.013)and abnormal cells(P<0.001)were significantly greater in the pandemic group(n=137)than those in the prepandemic group(n=102).Among abnormal cells, the percentages of cells with excess residual cytoplasm(P<0.001),head defects(P<0.001),and tail defects(P=0.015)were significantly greater in the pandemic group than those in the prepandemic group. With the exception of morphology, the overall semenogram results were better in the pandemic group than those in the prepandemic group. | Tribhuwan Kumar Kamlesh Jha Md Zabihullah Kumari Neelu Yogesh Kumar Kumar Siddharth | 2023 | Asian Journal of Andrology2023,25,2: | 2

Platinum on nitrogen doped graphene and tungsten carbide supports for ammonia electro-oxidation reaction显示文摘Ammonia electrooxidation reaction involving multistep electron-proton transfer is a significant reaction for fuel cells, hydrogen production and understanding nitrogen cycle.Platinum has been established as the best electrocatalyst for ammonia oxidation in aqueous alkaline media. In this study,Pt/nitrogen-doped graphene(NDG)and Pt/tungsten monocarbide(WC)/NDG are synthesized by a wet chemistry method and their ammonia oxidation activities are compared to commercial Pt/C.Pt/NDG exhibits a specific activity of 0.472 mA·cm^(-2),which is 44%higher than commercial Pt/C,thus establishing NDG as a more effective support than carbon black. Moreover,it is demonstrated that WC as a support also impacts the activity with further 30%increase in comparison to NDG.Surface modification with Ir resulted in the best electro-catalytic activity with Pt-IrAVC/NDG having almost thrice the current density of commercial Pt/C.This work adds insights regarding the role of NDG and WC as efficient supports along with significant impact of Ir surface modification. | Kumar Siddharth Yian Wang Jing Wang Fei Xiao Gabriel Sikukuu Nambafu Usman Bin Shahid Fei Yang Ernest Pahuyo Delmo Minhua Shao | 2022 | Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2022,16,6: | 1

A comprehensive review of the influence of physicochemical properties of biodiesel on combustion characteristics, engine performance and emissions显示文摘Energy is a basic requirement for development in the world. The continuously rising demand for energy resources and the fast depletion of fossil fuel is raises researcher's concern to focus on alternative sources of energy that can replace the shortage of fossil fuels soon.Biodiesel is recognized as one of the potential alternative renewable energy fuels that can be easily available in a wide range in every part of the world. This paper reviews biodiesel's prospect and focuses on the different fuel properties(physicochemical)of 100 biodiesels from first-,second-and third-generation followed by the evaluation of CI engine characteristics. It has been observed that the fuel properties of first-,second-and third-generation biodiesel are compatible with the ASTM standards. The present paper discussed the potential of various generations of biodiesel feedstocks from production perspectives. This paper also examined many aspects of these feedstocks which include different biodiesel feedstock sources, biodiesel conversion technology, and second-generation biodiesel performance and emission characteristics. Most of the studies showed that biodiesel derived from plant feedstock is costly than diesel. Thus, more influence is to be given to non-edible sources. However, the engine characteristics are shown promising behavior with biodiesel and a slight increase in NOX is also reported on using various biodiesel. | Tikendra Nath Verma Pankaj Shrivastava Upendra Rajak Gaurav Dwivedi Siddharth Jain Ali Zare Anoop Kumar Shukla Puneet Verma | 2021 | Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2021,8,4: | 1

Limb length discrepancy after total knee arthroplasty: A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND Limb length discrepancy(LLD)after total knee arthroplasty(TKA)has been considered as one of the reasons for the unsatisfactory outcome. However, there is no consensus about the extent of LLD that can be considered as clinically relevant.AIM To evaluate the incidence of radiographic LLD and its impact on functional outcome following TKA.METHODS All randomized-controlled trial and observational studies on LLD in TKA,published till 22nd June 2020,were systematically searched and reviewed. The primary outcome was“limb lengthening or LLD after TKA”.The secondary outcomes included“assessment of LLD in varus/valgus deformity”and“impact of LLD on the functional outcome”.RESULTS Of 45 retrieved studies, qualitative and quantitative assessment of data was performed from eight studies and six studies, respectively.Five studies(n=1551)reported the average limb lengthening of 5.98 mm.The LLD after TKA was ranging from 0.4±10 mm to 15.3±2.88 mm.The incidence of postoperative radiographic LLD was reported in 44%to 83.3%of patients. There was no difference in the preoperative and postoperative LLD(MD-1.23;95%CI:-3.72,1.27;P=0.34).Pooled data of two studies(n=219)revealed significant limb lengthening in valgus deformity than varus(MD-2.69;95%CI:-5.11,0.27;P=0.03).The pooled data of three studies(n=611)showed significantly worse functional outcome in patients with LLD of≥10 mm compared to<10 mm(standard MD 0.58;95%CI:0.06,1.10;P=0.03).CONCLUSION Limb lengthening after TKA is common, and it is significantly more in valgus than varus deformity.Significant LLD(≥10 mm)is associated with suboptimal functional outcome. | Sujit Kumar Tripathy Siddharth Satyakam Pradhan Paulson Varghese Prabhudev Prasad Purudappa Sandeep Velagada Tarun Goyal Bijnya Birajita Panda Jagadeesh Vanyambadi | 2021 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2021,9,2: | 0
Investigation of 58Ni(n, p)58Co reaction cross-section with covariance analysis显示文摘The excitation function of the 58Ni(n,p)58Co reaction was measured using the well-established neutron activation technique andγ-ray spectroscopy.Neutrons in the energy range of 1.7 to 2.7 MeV were generated using the 7Li(p,n)reaction.The neutron flux was measured using the standard 115In(n,n’)115mIn monitor reaction. The results of the neutron spectrum averaged cross-section of 58Ni(n,p)58Co reactions were compared with existing cross-section data available in the EXFOR data library as well as with various evaluated data libraries such as ENDF/B-VIII.0,JEFF-3.3,JENDL-4.0,and CENDL-3.2.Theoretical calculations were performed using the nuclear reaction code TALYS.Various nuclear level density(NLD)models were tested, and their results were compared with the present findings.Realistic NLDs were also obtained through the spectral distribution method(SDM).The cross-section results, along with the absolute errors, were obtained by investigating the uncertainty propagation and using the covariance technique.Corrections forγ-ray true coincidence summing,low-energy background neutrons,andγ-ray self attenuation were performed. The experimental cross-section obtained in the present study is consistent with previously published experimental data, evaluated libraries, and theoretical calculations carried out using the TALYS code. | Akash Hingu S.Mukherjee Siddharth Parashari Arora Sangeeta A.Gandhi Mahima Upadhyay Mahesh Choudhary Sumit Bamal Namrata Singh G.Mishra Sukanya De Saurav Sood Sajin Prasad G.Saxena Ajay Kumar R.G.Thomas B.K.Agrawal K.Katovsky A.Kumar | 2024 | Chinese Physics C2024,48,2: | 0
Immune function biomarker QuantiFERON-monitor is associated with infection risk in cirrhotic patients显示文摘AIM To investigate whether a novel immune function biomarker Quanti FERON-Monitor(QFM) can identify cirrhotic patients at greatest risk of infection. METHODS Adult cirrhotic patients on the liver transplant waiting list were recruited for this observational cohort study from a tertiary liver transplant referral unit. The immune function biomarker, QFM was performed using the same method as the widely available Quantiferon-gold assay, and measures output in interferon gamma in IU/mL after dual stimulation of the innate and adaptive immune systems. Ninety-one cirrhotic patients were recruited, with 47(52%) transplanted on the day of their QFM. The remaining 44(48%) were monitored for infections until transplant, death, or census date of 1st February 2014.RESULTS Cirrhotic patients express a median QFM significantly lower than healthy controls(94.5 IU/mL vs 423 IU/mL), demonstrating that they are severely immunosuppressed.Several factors including model for end stage liver disease, presence of hepatocellular carcinoma, bilirubin, international normalized ratio and haemoglobin were associated with QFM on univariate analysis. Disease aetiology did not appear to impact QFM. On multivariate analysis, only Child-Pugh score and urea were significantly associated with a patient's immune function as objectively measured by QFM. In the 44 patients who were not transplanted immediately after their blood test and could be monitored for subsequent infection risk, 13(29.5%) experienced a pre-transplant infection a median 20 d(range 2-182) post-test. QFM < 214 IU/mL was associated with HR = 4.1(P = 0.01) for infection. A very low QFM < 30 IU/mL was significantly associated(P = 0.003) with death in three patients who died while awaiting transplantation(HR = 56.6).CONCLUSION QFM is lower in cirrhotics, allowing objective determinations of an individual's unique level of immune dysfunction. Low QFM was associated with increased susceptibility to infection. | Siddharth Sood Lijia Yu Kumar Visvanathan Peter William Angus Paul John Gow Adam Gareth Testro | 2016 | World Journal of Hepatology2016,8,35: | 0
