Thermodynamic conditions of framework grain dissolution of clastic rocks and its application in Kela 2 gas field显示文摘Feldspar and clastic debris are the most important constituent framework grains of sedimentary clastic rocks and their chemical dissolution plays an essential role in the formation and evolution of the secondary pore in the reservoir rocks. On the basis of thermodynamic phase equilibrium, this study investigates the chemical equilibrium relationships between fluid and various plagioclase and K-feldspar in diagenesis of the sediments, particularly, the impact of temperature and fluid compositions (pH, activity of K+, Na+, Ca2+ and so on) on precipitation and dissolution equilibria of feldspars. Feldspar is extremely easily dissolved in the acid pore water with a low salinity when temperature decreases. The dissolution of anorthite end-member of plagioclase is related to the Ca content of the mineral and the fluid, higher Ca either in the mineral or in the fluid, easier dissolution of the feldspar. Moreover, the dissolution of albite end-member of plagioclase is related to Na of both the mineral and fluid, lower Na out of both the mineral and fluid, easier dissolution of the mineral. Similarly, lower-K fluid is more powerful to dissolve K-feldspar than the higher. The anorthite component of plagioclase is most easily dissolved in ground water-rock system, the albite is the secondary, and K-feldspar is the most stable. Selective dissolution of plagioclase occurs in diagenesis because of the plagioclase solid solution that is mainly composed of albite and anorthite end-members, Ca-rich part of which is preferentially dissolved by the pore water, in contrast to the Na-rich parts. Based on investigation of reservoir quality, secondary pore, dissolution structures of feldspar, clay minerals and ground water chemistry of the Kela 2 gas field of Kuqa Depression in the Tarim basin of Western China, we discovered that the secondary pore is very well developed in the highest quality section of the reservoir, and the plagioclase of which was obviously selectively dissolved, in contrast to the overgrowth of K-feldspar. Chemistry of the ground water out of the highest quality section of the reservoir is consistent with the complete dissolution field of anorthite, partial dissolution field of albite component of plagioclase, and the precipitation of K-feldspar on the temperature-logK phase equilibrium diagram drawn from this study. The thermodynamic modeling calculation gave us an insight into formation of the secondary pore within the reservoir, and the dissolution of plagioclase an important cause of the secondary pore. It is assumed that the solvent to dissolve the plagioclase frame grains originated from the origin-enriched compacted fluid acids out of the mudstone buried beneath the top of geopressured zones in the Kuqa Depression. | LAI Xingyun, YU Bingsong, CHEN Junyuan, CHEN Xiaolin, LIU Jianqing, MEI Mingxiang, JING Weiguang & CHENG Suhua School of Earth Sciences and Mineral Resources, China University of Geosciences, Beijing 100083, China Key Laboratory of Lithospheric Tectonics, Deep-level Process and Exploration of Ministry of Education, Beijing 100083, China | 2005 | Science China Earth Sciences2005,48,1: | 9
Resveratrol induces AMPK and mTOR signaling inhibition-mediated autophagy and apoptosis in multiple myeloma cells显示文摘Resveratrol,a natural compound extracted from the skins of grapes, berries,or other fruits, has been shown to have anti-tumor effects against multiple myeloma(MM)via promoting apoptosis and inhibiting cell viability. In addition to apoptosis, autophagy also plays a significant role in anti-tumor effects. However, whether autophagy is involved in anti-MM activity of resveratrol remains unclear. In this study, human MM cell lines U266,RPMI-8226,and NCI-H929 were treated with resveratrol.Cell Counting Kit-8 assay and colony formation assay were used to measure cell viability.Western blot analysis was used to detect apoptosis-and autophagy-associated proteins.3-Methyladenine(3-MA)was applied to inhibit autophagy. Results showed that resveratrol inhibited cell viability and colony formation via promoting apoptosis and autophagy in MM cell lines U266,RPMI-8226,and NCI-H929.Resveratrol promoted apoptosis-related proteins,Caspase-3 activating poly-ADP-ribose polymerase and Caspase-3 cleavage, and decreased the protein level of Survivin in a dose-dependent manner.Additionally, resveratrol upregulated the levels of LC3 and Beclin1 in a dose-dependent way, indicating that autophagy might be implicated in anti-MM effect of resveratrol.Furthermore,3-MA relieved the cytotoxicity of resveratrol by blocking the autophagic flux.Resveratrol increased the phosphorylation of adenosine monophosphate(AMP)-activated protein kinase and decreased the phosphorylation of mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR)and its downstream substrates p70S6K and 4EBP1 in a dose-dependent manner, leading to autophagy. Therefore, our results suggest that resveratrol exerts anti-MM effects through apoptosis and autophagy, which can be used as a new therapeutic strategy for MM in clinic. | Ruye Ma Dandan Yu Yu Peng Hongfei Yi Yingcong Wang Taofang Cheng Bingqing Shi Guang Yang Weiming Lai Xiaosong Wu Ye Lu Jumei Shi | 2021 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,6: | 7
Profiles and removal efficiency of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by two different types of sewage treatment plants in Hong Kong显示文摘Sewage discharge could be a major source of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) in the coastal waters. Stonecutters Island and Shatin Sewage Treatment Works(SCISTW and STSTW)in Hong Kong, adopted chemically enhanced primary treatment and biological treatment, respectively. This study aimed at(1) determining the removal efficiencies of PAHs,(2) comparing the capabilities in removing PAHs, and(3) characterizing the profile of each individual PAHs, in the two sewage treatment plants(STPs). Quantification of 16 PAHs was conducted by a Gas Chromatography. The concentrations of total PAHs decreased gradually along the treatment processes(from 301 ± 255 and 307 ± 217 ng/L to 14.9 ± 12.1 and 63.3 ± 54.1 ng/L in STSTW and SCISTW, respectively). It was noted that STSTW was more capable in removing total PAHs than SCISTW with average total removal efficiency 94.4% ± 4.12% vs. 79.2% ± 7.48%(p < 0.05). The removal of PAHs was probably due to sorption in particular matter, confirmed by the higher distribution coefficient of individual and total PAHs in solid samples(dewatered sludge contained92.5% and 74.7% of total PAHs in SCISTW and STSTW, respectively) than liquid samples(final effluent-total contained 7.53% and 25.3% of total PAHs in STSTW and SCISTW, respectively).Despite the impressive capability of STSTW and SCISTW in removing PAHs, there was still a considerable amount of total PAHs(1.85 and 39.3 kg/year, respectively for the two STPs) being discharged into Hong Kong coastal waters, which would be an environmental concern. | Yu Bon Man Ka Lai Chow Zhang Cheng Wing Yin Mo Yung Hau Chan James Chung Wah Lam Frankie Tat Kwong Lau Wing Cheong Fung Ming Hung Wong | 2017 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,3: | 5
Cell cycle-related kinase reprograms the liver immune microenvironment to promote cancer metastasis显示文摘The liver is an immunologically tolerant organ and a common metastatic site of multiple cancer types.Although a role for cancer cell invasion programs has been well characterized, whether and how liver-intrinsic factors drive metastatic spread is incompletely understood. Here,we show that aberrantly activated hepatocyte-intrinsic cell cycle-related kinase(CCRK)signaling in chronic liver diseases is critical for cancer metastasis by reprogramming an immunosuppressive microenvironment.Using an inducible liverspecific transgenic model,we found that CCRK overexpression dramatically increased both B16F10 melanoma and MC38 colorectal cancer(CRC)metastasis to the liver, which was highly infiltrated by polymorphonuclear-myeloid-derived suppressor cells(PMNMDSCs)and lacking natural killer T(NKT)cells.Depletion of PMN-MDSCs in CCRK transgenic mice restored NKT cell levels and their interferon gamma production and reduced liver metastasis to 2.7% and 0.7%(metastatic tumor weights)in the melanoma and CRC models, respectively.Mechanistically,CCRK activated nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)signaling to increase the PMN-MDSC trafficking chemokine C-X-C motif ligand 1(CXCL1),which was positively correlated with liver-infiltrating PMN-MDSC levels in CCRK transgenic mice.Accordingly,CRC liver metastasis patients exhibited hyperaaivation of hepatic CCRK/NF-κB/CXCL1 signaling, which was associated with accumulation of PMN-MDSCs and paucity of NKT cells compared to healthy liver transplantation donors. In summary, this study demonstrates that immunosuppressive reprogramming by hepatic CCRK signaling undermines antimetastatic immunosurveillance. Our findings offer new mechanistic insights and therapeutic targets for liver metastasis intervention. | Xuezhen Zeng Jingying Zhou Zhewen Xiong Hanyong Sun Weiqin Yang Myth T.S.Mok Jing Wang Jingqing Li Man Liu Wenshu Tang Yu Feng Hector Kwong-Sang W ang Shun-Wa Tsang King-Lau Chow Philip Chun Yeung John Wong Paul Bo-San Lai Anthony Wing-Hung Chan Ka Fai To Stephen Lam Chan Qiang Xia Jing Xue Xiao Chen Jun Yu Sui Peng Joseph Jao-Yiu Sung Ming Kuang Alfred Sze-Lok Cheng | 2021 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,4: | 5
Namib desert beetle inspired special patterned fabric with programmable and gradient wettability for efficient fog harvesting显示文摘Efficient collection of water from fog provides a potential solution to solve the global freshwater shortage problem, particularly in the desert or arid regions. In this work, a flexible and highly efficient fog collector was prepared by mimicking the back exoskeleton structure of the Namib desert beetle. The improved fog collector was constructed by a superhydrophobic-superhydrophilic patterned fabric via a simple weaving method, followed by in-situ deposition of copper particles. Compared with the conventional fog collector with a plane structure, the fabric has shown a higher water-harvesting rate at 1432.7 mg/h/cm2,owing to the biomimetic three-dimensional structure, its enhanced condensation performance enabled by the copper coating and the rational distribution of wetting units. The device construction makes use of the widely available textile materials through mature manufacturing technology, which makes it highly suitable for large-scale industrial production. | Zhihua Yu Huimei Zhang Jianying Huang Shuhui Li Songnan Zhang Yan Cheng Jiajun Mao Xiuli Dong Shouwei Gao Shanchi Wang Zhong Chen Yaoxing Jiang Yuekun Lai | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,2: | 5
Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection-Associated Mortality during Pulmonary Tuberculosis Treatment in Six Provinces of China显示文摘Objective To investigate the risk factors attributable to tuberculosis-related deaths in areas with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) infection epidemics. Methods A prospective cohort study of newly registered patients in tuberculosis(TB) dispensaries in six representative Chinese provinces was conducted from September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2011. Risk factors for TB-associated death were identified through logistic regression analysis. Results Of 19,103 newly registered pulmonary TB patients, 925(4.8%) were found to be HIV-positive. Miliary TB and acid-fast bacillus smear-negative TB were more common among these patients. Out of a total of 322(1.7%) deaths that occurred during TB treatment, 85(26%) of the patients were co-infected with HIV. Multivariate analysis revealed that HIV infection was the strongest predictor of death [adjusted odds ratio(aO R) 7.86]. Other significant mortality risk factors included presentation with miliary TB(aO R 4.10; 95% confidence interval: 2.14-7.88), ≥35 years of age(aO R 3.04), non-Han ethnicity(aO R 1.67), and farming as an occupation(aO R 1.59). For patients with TB/HIV co-infection, miliary TB was the strongest risk factor for death(aO R 5.48). A low CD4 count(≤ 200 cells/μL)(aO R 3.27) at the time of TB treatment initiation and a lack of antiretroviral therapy(ART) administration(aO R 3.78) were also correlated with an increased risk of death. Conclusion Infection with HIV was independently associated with increased mortality during TB treatment. Offering HIV testing at the time of diagnosis with TB, early TB diagnosis among HIV/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome patients, and the timely provision of ART were identified as the key approaches that could reduce the number of HIV-associated TB deaths. | LAI Yu Ji LIU Er Yong WANG Li Ming Jamie P MORANO WANG Ning Kaveh KHOSHNOOD ZHOU Lin CHENG Shi Ming | 2015 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2015,28,6: | 4

An ultrasound-triggered cation chelation and reassembly route to one-dimensional Ni-rich cathode material enabling fast charging and stable cycling of Li-ion batteries显示文摘Ni-rich oxides,LiNixMnyCozO2(NMC),are among leading candidates for cathode materials in Li-ion batteries. However, they are mostly fabricated by coprecipitation approach under complex conditions, which usually produces large secondary particles composed of aggregated primary particles.Undesirable cation mixing and crack propagation upon cycling block ion and electron transport, result in fast capacity fading and poor rate capability.Herein,we present an ultrasound-triggered cation chelation and reassembly route for synthesizing one-dimensional precursor with homogeneous element distribution at the atomic level. This process is accomplished by the synergistic combination of ultrasound and surfactant, which can disperse reactants and remove hydration shells surrounding cations so as to accelerate chelating reaction, and then separate and assemble chelates into one dimensional structure. The whole synthesis time is only 20 min(8.9 min of ultrasonic working time)in an open vessel under natural ambient conditions.One-dimensional LiNi0.6Mn0.2Co0.2O2 has a high reversible capacity(184 mAh·g^−1 at 0.1 C)and long cycling stability(95.1%and 82.4%capacity retention for 100 and 1000 cycles, respectively). The short charging time of 76 s is realized at super high current rate of 20 C,which is very important to improve the competitiveness of electric vehicles relative to fuel vehicles. Our synthetic approach can provide a general strategy for the growth of mixed-metal-EDTA chelate precursors by changing the feeding ratio of Ni2+,Mn2+and Co2+cations in reaction for fabricating NMC cathode materials with other compositions. | Yongjian Lai Zhaojie Li Wenxia Zhao Xiaoning Cheng Shuo Xu Xiao Yu Yong Liu | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,12: | 2
Clinical application of dip-assisted endoscopic method for nasoenteric feeding in patients with gastroparesis and gastroesophageal wounds显示文摘AIM: To report the clinical experiences in the application of clip-assisted endoscopic method for nasoenteric feeeding in patients with gastroparesis and patients with gastroesophageal wounds, and to compare the efficacy of nasoenteric feeding in these two indications. METHODS: From April 2002 to January 2004, 21 consecutive patients with gastroparesis or gastroesophageal wounds were enrolled and received nasoenteric feeding for nutritional support. A clip-assisted method was used to place the nasoenteric tubes. Outcomes in the two groups were compared with respect to the successful rate of enteral feeding, percentage of recommended energyintake (REI), and complication rates.RESULTS: The gastroparesis group included 13 patients with major bums (n = 7), trauma (n = 2), congestive heart failure (n = 2) and post-surgery gastric stasis syndrome (n = 2). The esophageogastric wound group included eight patients with tracheoesophageal fistula (n = 2) and wound leakage following gastric surgery (n = 6). Two study groups were similar in feeding successful rates (84.6% vs75.0%). There were also no differences in the percentage of REI between groups (79.4% vs 78.6%). Additionally, no complications occurred in any of the study groups. CONCLUSION: Nasoenteric feeding is a useful method to provide nutritional support to most of the patients with gastroparesis who cannot tolerate nasogastric tube feeding and to the cases who need bypass feeding for esophageogastric wounds. | Chung-Jen Wu Ping-I Hsu Gin-Ho Lo Chang-Bih Shie Ching-Chu Lo E-Ming Wang Chiun-Ku Lin Wen-Chi Chen Lung-Chin Cheng Hsien-Chung Yu Yi-Chun Chan Kwok-Hung Lai | 2005 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2005,11,24: | 2
