Hemiballism-hemichorea induced by ketotic hyperglycemia: case report with PET study and review of the literature显示文摘Hemiballism-hemichorea(HB-HC)is commonly used to describe the basal ganglion dysfunction in non-ketotic hyperglycemic elderly patients. Here we report two elderly female patients with acute onset of involuntary movements induced by hyperglycemia with positive urine ketones. We described the computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings in these two patients, which is similar to that of non-ketotic hyperglycemic HB-HC patients.FDG-PET was performed and the glucose metabolism in the corresponding lesion in these two patients was contradictory with each other. We tried to clarify the underlying mechanisms of HB-HC and explain the contradictory neuroradiological findings in FDG-PET as being performed at different clinical stages. | Yuyan Tan Xiaoyu Xin Qin Xiao Shengdi Chen Li Cao Huidong Tang | 2014 | Translational Neurodegeneration2014,3,1: | 21
Similar Ability of FbaA with M Protein to Elicit Protective Immunity Against Group A Streptococcus Challenge in Mice显示文摘Group A streptococcus(GAS),an important human pathogen, can cause various kinds of infections including superficial infections and potentially lethal infections, and the search for an effective vaccine to prevent GAS infections has been ongoing for many years. This paper compares the immunogenicity and immunoprotection of FbaA(an Fn-binding protein expressed on the surface of GAS) with that of M protein, the best immunogen of GAS. Assay for immune response showed that FbaA,similar to M protein, could induce protein-specific high IgG titer in BALB/c mice. Furthermore, following GAS challenge, the mice immunized with FbaA showed the same protective rate as those with M protein. These results indicate that FbaA is similar in ability to M protein in inducing protective immunity against GAS challenge in mice. | Cuiqing Ma Caihong Li Xiurong Wang Ruihong Zeng Xiaolin Yin Huidong Feng Lin Wei | 2009 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2009,6,1: | 4
Relationship between increase rate of human plague in China and global climate index as revealed by cross-spectral and cross-wavelet analyses显示文摘Plague has caused the death of hundreds of millions of people throughout the human history.Today this disease is again re-emerging and hence is again becoming an increasing threat to human health in several parts of the world. However, impacts of global climate variation(e.g.El Nino and Southern Oscillation[ENSO])and global warming on plagues are largely unknown.Using cross-spectral analysis and cross-wavelet analysis,we have analyzed the relationship between increase rate of human plague in China during 1871–2003 and the following climate factors(as measured by the Southern Oscillation Index[SOI],Sea Surface Temperature of east Pacific equator[SST]and air Temperature of the Northern Hemisphere[NHT]).We found in the frequency domain that increase rate of human plague was closely associated with SOI and SST.Cross-spectral analysis reveals that significant coherencies between increase rate of human plague and ENSO were found over short periods(2–3 years),medium periods(6–7 years)and long periods(11–12 years,30–40 years).Cross-wavelet analysis reveals that increase rate of human plague oscillates in phase with SOI,but in anti-phase with SST over periods of 2–4 years and approximately 8 years(6–10 years). These results indicate that ENSO-driven climate variation may be important for occurrences of human plague in China. However, there is a need for a further analysis of the underlying mechanism between human plague in China and ENSO. | Zhibin ZHANG Zhenqing LI Yi TAO Min CHEN Xinyu WEN Lei XU Huidong TIAN Nils Chr.STENSETH | 2007 | Integrative Zoology2007,2,3: | 3
In-situ observation of electrical tree evolution in epoxy dielectrics with internal cracks显示文摘Gas-filled internal crack might appear in thermoset materials like epoxy resin during the equipment manufacturing, which would become a vulnerable local region to initiate the electrical tree, thus prone to cause insulation failure. The withstand voltage test was carried on epoxy samples with artificial cracks based on a rod-plane electrode arrange-ment.Simultaneously,surface state variation and tree evolution with crack were observed by an optical microscope in conjunction with a charge-coupled device camera. The changes in morphology and chemical status of the crack surface were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, laser Raman spectrometer and energy dispersive spec-trometer,respectively.It was found that the erosion and tree started from the borderline of crack under a relatively low electric field strength;however, the area near the electrode had relatively little damage. The breaking of epoxy molecular chains coarsens the crack surface and further forms deep channels on a micro-level,which is the forerunner of the electrical tree inception.Based on these, the initiation mechanisms of the crack-induced electrical tree and the reasons for the erosion near the borderline have been revealed. This study provides a train thought for the polymer degradation opening up into the initial tree channel during tree evolution processes. | Zehua Wu Huidong Tian Sijia Zhu He Li Qingyu Wang Zongliang Xie Peng Liu Zongren Peng | 2021 | High Voltage2021,6,2: | 3
Novel nanoporous binary Ag-Ni electrocatalysts for hydrazine oxidation显示文摘From an aqueous mixture of Ag(I)-EDTA complex and Ni(II) nitrate, silver and nickel particles were co-deposited on the surface of titanium substrates by the hydrothermal method using hydrazine hydrate as a reduction agent. The prepared titanium-supported nano-scale Ag and Ag-Ni particles (nano Ag/Ti, nano Ag86Ni14/Ti, nano Ag77Ni23/Ti, and nano Ag74Ni26/Ti) exhibit nanoporous 3D network textures. Their electrocatalytic activity towards hydrazine oxidation in alkaline solutions was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The results show that the four samples present a low onset potential of ca. -0.60 V vs. SCE and considerably high and stable anodic current densities for hydrazine oxidation. Among them, the nano Ag86Ni14/Ti electrode exhibits the highest anodic current density towards hydrazine oxidation, showing an increment of electro-active sites on the nano Ag86Ni14/Ti due to the addition of Ni to Ag particles. | YI Qingfeng, LI Lei, YU Wenqiang, LIU Xiaoping, ZHOU Zhihua, and NIE Huidong School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Hunan University of Science and Technology, Xiangtan 411201, China | 2010 | Rare Metals2010,29,1: | 3
A sensitivity study of the WRF model in offshore wind modeling over the Baltic Sea显示文摘Accurate wind modeling is important for wind resources assessment and wind power forecasting. To improve the WRF model configuration for the offshore wind modeling over the Baltic Sea, this study performed a sensitivity study of the WRF model to multiple model configurations, including domain setup, grid resolution, sea surface temperature, land surface data, and atmosphere-wave coupling. The simulated offshore wind was evaluated against LiDAR observations under different wind directions, atmospheric stabilities, and sea status. Generally, the simulated wind profiles matched observations, despite systematic underestimations. Strengthening the forcing from the reanalysis data through reducing the number of nested domains played the largest role in improving wind modeling. Atmosphere-wave coupling further improved the simulated wind, especially under the growing and mature sea conditions.Increasing the vertical resolution, and updating the sea surface temperature and the land surface information only had a slight impact, mainly visible during very stable conditions. Increasing the horizontal resolution also only had a slight impact, most visible during unstable conditions. Our study can help to improve the wind resources assessment and wind power forecasting over the Baltic Sea. | Huidong Li Björn Claremar Lichuan Wu Christoffer Hallgren Heiner Körnich Stefan Ivanell Erik Sahlée | 2021 | Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,6: | 2
Carbon-based bifunctional electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction and oxygen evolution reactions:Optimization strategies and mechanistic analysis显示文摘Electrocatalysts are one of the essential components for the devices of high-efficiency green energy storage and conversion, such as metal-air cells, fuel cells, and water electrolysis systems. While catalysts made from noble metals possess high catalytic performance in both oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER),their scarcity and expensiveness significantly limit large-scale applications. In this regard,metal-free/non-noble metal carbon-based catalysts have become competitive alternatives to replace catalysts made of noble metals.Nevertheless, low catalytic ORR/OER performance is the challenge of carbon-based catalysts for the commercial applications of metal-air batteries. To solve the problem of poor catalytic performance, two strategies have been proposed:(1)controlling the microstructure of the catalysts to expose more active sites as the channels of rapid mass and electron transfer;and(2)reducing the reaction energy barrier by optimizing the electronic structures of the catalysts via surface engineering. Here,we review different types of bifunctional ORR/OER electrocatalysts with the activated surface sites. We focus on how the challenge can be overcome with different methods of material synthesis, structural and surface characterization, performance validation/optimization,to outline the principles of surface modifications behind catalyst designs. In particular,we provide critical analysis in the challenges that we are facing in structural design and surface engineering of bifunctional ORR/OER catalysts and indicate the possible solution for these problems, providing the society with clearer ideas on the practical prospects of noble-metal-free electrocatalysts for their future applications. | Huidong Xu Jack Yang Riyue Ge Jiujun Zhang Ying Li Mingyuan Zhu Liming Dai Sean Li Wenxian Li | 2022 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,8: | 2

A novel TIR-NBS-LRR gene regulates immune response to Phytophthora root rot in soybean显示文摘Phytophthora root rot(PRR),caused by Phytophthora sojae,is a devastating disease of soybean. The NBSLRR gene family is a class of plant genes involved in disease resistance.miRNA mediates plant response to biotic stresses by regulating the expression of target genes at the transcriptional or post-translational level.Glyma.16G135500,encoding an NBS-LRR-type protein,is a target of gma-miR1510 that responds to pathogen infections. We cloned and overexpressed Glyma.16G135500(naming it GmTNL16)and knocked down mi R1510 using short tandem target mimic technology to identify the roles of the GmTNL16/gma-mi R1510 pair in the interaction of soybean and the oomycete.By overexpressing GmTNL16 in transgenic hairy roots of soybean,we showed that biomass of P.sojae was lower in overexpressing hairy roots than in control roots.Thus,miR1510 expression was reduced upon P.sojae infection, reflecting the induced expression of GmTNL16 conferring resistance to P.sojae in soybean.Differentially expressed genes were enriched in plant-pathogen interaction, plant hormone signal transduction, and secondary metabolism by RNA sequencing analyze. In particular, jasmonate and salicylic acid pathway-associated genes, including JAZ,COI1,TGA,and PR,responded to P.sojae infection. All of these results indicate that the GmTNL16/gma-miR1510 pair participates in soybean defense response via the JA and SA pathways. | Li Zhou Sushuang Deng Huidong Xuan Xingxing Fan Ruidong Sun Jinming Zhao Haitang Wang Na Guo Han Xing | 2022 | The Crop Journal2022,10,6: | 1

Quantifying the response of surface urban heat island to urbanization using the annual temperature cycle model显示文摘Urban heat island(UHI),driving by urbanization, plays an important role in urban sustainability under climate change. However, the quantification of UHI’s response to urbanization is still challenging due to the lack of robust and continuous temperature and urbanization datasets and reliable quantification methods. This study proposed a framework to quantify the response of surface UHI(SUHI)to urban expansion using the annual temperate cycle model. We built a continuous annual SUHI series at the buffer level from 2003 to 2018 in the Jing-Jin-Ji region of China using MODIS land surface temperature and imperviousness derived from Landsat. We then investigated the spatiotemporal dynamic of SUHI under urban expansion and examined the underlying mechanism.Spatially, the largest SUHI interannual variations occurred in suburban areas compared to the urban center and rural areas.Temporally, the increase in SUHI under urban expansion was more significant in daytime compare to nighttime. We found that the seasonal variation of SUHI was largely affected by the seasonal variations of vegetation in rural areas and the interannual variation was mainly attributed to urban expansion in urban areas.Additionally, urban greening led to the decrease in summer daytime SHUI in central urban areas. These findings deepen the understanding of the long-term spatiotemporal dynamic of UHI and the quantitative relationship between UHI and urban expansion, providing a scientific basis for prediction and mitigation of UHI. | Huidong Li Yuyu Zhou Gensuo Jia Kaiguang Zhao Jinwei Dong | 2022 | Geoscience Frontiers2022,13,1: | 1
