| 2 | Generation of time-varying orbital angular momentum beams with space-time-coding digital metasurface显示文摘The recently proposed extreme-ultraviolet beams with time-varying orbital angular momentum(OAM)realized by high-harmonic generation provide extraordinary tools for quantum excitation control and particle manipulation.However,such an approach is not easily scalable to other frequency regimes.We design a space-time-coding digital metasurface operating in the microwave regime to experimentally generate time-varying OAM beams.Due to the flexible programmability of the metasurface,a higher-order twist in the envelope wavefront structure of time-varying OAM beams can be further designed as an additional degree of freedom.The time-varying OAM field patterns are dynamically mapped by developing a two-probe measurement technique.Our approach in combining the programmability of space-time-coding digital metasurfaces and the two-probe measurement technique provides a versatile platform for generating and observing time-varying OAM and other spatiotemporal excitations in general.The proposed time-varying OAM beams have application potentials in particle manipulation,time-division multiplexing,and information encryption. | Jingxin Zhang Peixing Li Ray C.C.Cheung Alex M.H.Wong Jensen Li | 2023 | Advanced Photonics2023,5,3: | 1 |
| 3 | High resolution linkage disequilibrium and haplotype maps for the genes in the centromeric region of chromosome 15 in Tibetans and comparisons with Han population显示文摘Genetic variations and their functional implications have been one of the focuses in recent genome research. With the release of the HapMap by the International Consortium, and the availability of the ultra-high-volume genotyping platform, it will soon be possible to use genome-wide association ap- proach to identify genetic variations responsible for complex traits/diseases. While the power of this ap- proach is generally agreed, it is a debated issue as to how much population difference should be exploited, and how best it should be applied. To address this issue we have sequenced 7 genes in the centromeric region of chromosome 15, investigated their SNPs, SNP frequencies, tagSNPs, LD structures, and hap- lotypes in 50 Tibetan subjects, and compared them with those from the Han population. Genetic diversi- ties between the two populations were also quantified. Our results show that the overall genetic variation between the two populations is very little, but there are differences, primarily in allele frequencies, which is a dominating factor for haplotypes and tagSNPs. In general Tibetans have longer LD and less diversity inthe region studied. These data provide genetic evi- dence for the close relationship between the two populations, and support the idea that all populations are fundamentally the same, but also indicate popu- lation variations, particularly in allele frequency, should be taken into account in complex traits/ dis- eases analysis. | 5 | Evaluation of Water Transfer Capacity of Poplar with Pectinase Treated under the Solar Interface Evaporation显示文摘Poplar wood,which was used as the absorption material for the solar-driven interfacial evaporation,was treated for 3 days,6 days and 9 days with the pectinase,and then was simulated for photothermal evaporation test at one standard solar radiation intensity(1 kW⋅m^(−2)).The effects of pectinase treatment on cell passage and water migration capacity of poplars were analyzed by the mercury intrusion porosimetry,the scanning electron microscope and fractal theory.It was found that the pit membrane and the ray parenchyma cells of poplar wood were degraded and destroyed after pectinase treatment.Compared with the untreated poplar wood,the evaporation rate of three sections of the specimen was changed.Especially the evaporation rate of radial and tangential direction was significantly increased.At the same time,based on the experimental data and fractal dimension deduction,fractal characteristics could be found in that the structure of poplars treated with pectinase.The porosity decreased with the increase of the fractal dimension in a certain range.It was shown that it is feasible to evaluate solar-driven water migration capacity by using fractal theory. | Wei Xiong Dagang Li Peixing Wei Lin Wang Qian Feng | 2023 | Journal of Renewable Materials2023,11,5: | 0 |
| 6 | Cartilage-targeting and inflammatory-responsive nanocarriers for effective osteoarthritis treatment via reactive oxygen species scavenging and anti-angiogenesis显示文摘Osteoarthritis(OA),a common disabling joint disease,is highly associated with microenvironmental changes in the cartilage and subchondral bone.Elevated reactive oxygen species(ROS)in the cartilage and subchondral bone angiogenesis accelerate articular cartilage erosion.New cartilage-targeting drug deliv-ery systems that are aimed at preventing ROS production and angiogenesis may be of clinical significance for OA treatment.Herein,an ROS scavenger and an inflammatory-responsive nanocarrier are designed by immobilizing the natural polyphenol(curcumin)in chitosan-catechol nanoformulations(Cur-CS-C NPs)via boronate ester.The robust cartilage-targeting effects and ROS scavenging capacities of Cur-CS-C NPs were respectively determined in cartilage explants and chondrocytes.Intra-articular injection of Cur-CS-C NPs in OA rat models efficiently suppressed angiogenesis and cartilage degradation partially via the ROS-mediated NF-κB/PI3K-Akt signaling pathway.The developed curcumin-functionalized nanocarriers can significantly delay OA progression and provide a promising therapeutic strategy for other inflamma-tory diseases that are characterized by oxidative stress and angiogenesis. | Sixiang Wang Yan Gao Lili Dong Peixing Chen Wanqian Liu Li Yang | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,12: | 0 |
| 7 | Multi-functionalized nanofibers with reactive oxygen species scavenging capability and fibrocartilage inductivity for tendon-bone integration显示文摘The presence of excessive reactive oxygen species(ROS)after injuries to the enthesis could lead to cellular oxidative damage,high inflammatory response,chronic inflammation,and limited fibrochondral inductivity,making tissue repair and functional recovery difficult.Here,a multifunctional silk fibroin nanofiber modified with polydopamine and kartogenin was designed and fabricated to not only effectively reduce inflammation by scavenging ROS in the early stage of the enthesis healing but also enhance fibrocartilage formation with fibrochondrogenic induction in the later stages.The in vitro results confirmed the antioxidant capability and the fibrochondral inductivity of the functionalized nanofibers.In vivo studies showed that the multifunctional nanofiber can significantly improve the integration of tendon-bone and accelerate the regeneration of interface tissue,resulting in an excellent biomechanical property.Thus,the incorporation of antioxidant and bio-active molecules into extracellular matrix-like biomaterials in interface tissue engineering provides an integrative approach that facilitates damaged tissue regeneration and functional recovery,thereby improving the clinical outcome of the engineered tissue. | Peixing Chen Sixiang Wang Zhi Huang Yan Gao Yu Zhang Chunli Wang Tingting Xia Linhao Li Wanqian Liu Li Yang | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,11: | 0 |
