| 1 | Comparison of Postoperative Pain Following Laser-assisted Subepithelial Keratectomy and Transepithelial Photorefractive Keratectomy:a Prospective,Random Paired Bilateral Eye Study显示文摘Purpose:To compare postoperative pain following laser-assisted subepithelial keratectomy(LASEK) and transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy(T-PRK, two-step surgery) and alleviate postoperative subjective pain.Methods:.Thirty patients(60 eyes) with myopia or myopic astigmatism were consecutively recruited into this prospective,randomized paired study..Patients underwent LASEK in one eye,and T-PRK in the other. The degree of pain was rated on a scale of 0-10 on postoperative days 1,2 and 3..Uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA) and subepithelial corneal haze were assessed at postoperative 1 and 3 months.Results:.The pain was relieved on the 4th postoperative day in all patients,.healing of corneal epithelium was observed at4-5 days after surgery and contact lenses were removed promptly.At postoperative 1 day,.the mean subjective pain score in the LASEK group was 3.2±1.88 and 4.43±1.61 in TPRK group(P=0.008).No significant difference was found between two groups on postoperative 2 and 3 days. At postoperative 3 months, the percentage of UCVA ≥0.8 in the LASEK group was 100% and 96.7% in the T-PRK group.(P =0.24),93.3% of patients in the LASEK with UCVA ≥1.0 and 90%in the T-PRK group(P=0.64). In the LASEK group, the value of corneal haze was 0.26 ±0.21 and 0.27 ±0.25 in the T-PRK group(P=0.877).Conclusion:.Good visual acuity was obtained in both groups at postoperative 3 months. Compared with those in the T-PRKgroup, patients undergoing had less discomfort in the LASEK group, which may be associated with corneal epithelial activity. | 2 | Developing gene-tagged molecular markers for evaluation of genetic association of apple SWEET genes with fruit sugar accumulation显示文摘Sugar content is an important component of fruit quality.Although sugar transporters are known to be crucial for sugar accumulation,the role of genes encoding SWEET sugar transporters in fruit sugar accumulation remains elusive.Here we report the effect of the SWEET genes on fruit sugar accumulation in apple.A total of 25 MdSWEET genes were identified in the apple genome,and 9 were highly expressed throughout fruit development.Molecular markers of these 9 MdSWEET genes were developed and used for genotyping of 188 apple cultivars.The association of polymorphic MdSWEET genes with soluble sugar content in mature fruit was analyzed.Three genes,MdSWEET2e,MdSWEET9b,and MdSWEET15a,were significantly associated with fruit sugar content,with MdSWEET15a and MdSWEET9b accounting for a relatively large proportion of phenotypic variation in sugar content.Moreover,both MdSWEET9b and MdSWEET15a are located on chromosomal regions harboring QTLs for sugar content.Hence,MdSWEET9b and MdSWEET15a are likely candidates regulating fruit sugar accumulation in apple.Our study not only presents an efficient way of implementing gene functional study but also provides molecular tools for genetic improvement of fruit quality in apple-breeding programs. | Qiaoling Zhen Ting Fang Qian Peng Liao Liao Li Zhao Albert Owiti Yuepeng Han | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 12 |

| 4 | Effect of size and crystalline phase of TiO2 nanotubes on cell behaviors: A high throughput study using gradient TiO2 nanotubes显示文摘The research of TiO2 nanotubes(TNTs)in the field of biomedicine has been increasingly active.However,given the diversity of the nanoscale dimension and controversial reports,our understanding of the structure-property relationships of TNTs is not yet complete.In this paper,gradient TNTs with a wide diameter range of 20-350 nm were achieved by bipolar electrochemistry and utilized for a thorough high-throughput study of the effect of nanotube dimension and crystalline phase on protein adsorption and cell behaviors.Results indicated that protein adsorption escalated with nanotube dimension whereas cell proliferation and differentiation are preferred on small diameter(<70 nm)nanotubes.Large diameter anatase nanotubes had higher adsorption of serum proteins than as-prepared ones.But only as-prepared small diameter nanotubes presented slightly higher cell proliferation than corresponding annealed nanotubes whereas there was no discernible difference between as-prepared and annealed nanotubes on cell differentiation for the entire gradient.Those findings replenish previous research about how cell responses to TNTs with a wide diameter range and provide scientific guidance for the optimal design of biomedical materials. | Yanran Li Si Wang Yuanjun Dong Ping Mu Yun Yang Xiangyang Liu Changjian Lin Qiaoling Huang | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,4: | 3 |

| 6 | Dynamic monitoring of menopause hormone therapy and defining the cut-off value of endometrial thickness during uterine bleeding显示文摘The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of low-dose tibolone therapy on ovarian area,uterine volume and endometrial thickness,and define the cut-off value of endometrial thickness for curettage during uterine bleeding.We followed 619 postmenopausal women,aged 40-60 years,for two years.There were 301 subjects in the low-dose tibolone treatment group and 318 subjects in the control group.The ovarian area,uterine volume and endometrial thickness in all participants were measured by transvaginal ultrasound prior to,one and two years post enrollment,respectively.Endometrial specimens were collected from all subjects with abnormal uterine bleeding during the follow-up period.We found that the uterine volume in the treatment group was greater than that in the control group,and the difference was significant(P<0.05),but there were no significant differences in ovarian area and endometrial thickness between the two groups(P>0.05).When the cut-off value for endometrial thickness was 7.35 mm,the sensitivity and specificity were 100%and 79.07%,respectively,and 85.71%and 93.02%when 7.55 mm was set as the cut-off during tibolone therapy.The results indicate that low-dose tibolone therapy may postpone uterine atrophy and the cut-off value of endometrial thickness may be appropriately adjusted for curettage. | Qiu Sheng Jun Yang Qiaoling Zhao Fen Li | 2016 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2016,30,3: | 3 |
| 7 | Effects of cultivation of Osr HSA transgenic rice on functional diversity of microbial communities in the soil rhizosphere显示文摘With the widespread cultivation of transgenic crops, there is increasing concern about unintended effects of these crops on soil environmental quality. In this study, we used the Biolog method and ELISA to evaluate the possible effects of Osr HSA transgenic rice on soil microbial utilization of carbon substrates under field conditions. There were no significant differences in average well-color development(AWCD) values, Shannon–Wiener diversity index(H), Simpson dominance indices(D) and Shannon–Wiener evenness indices(E) of microbial communities in rhizosphere soils at eight samplings between Osr HSA transgenic rice and its non-transgenic counterpart. The main carbon sources utilized by soil microbes were carbohydrates, carboxylic acids, amino acids and polymers. The types,capacities and patterns of carbon source utilization by microbial communities in rhizosphere soils were similar throughout the detection period. We detected no Osr HSA protein in the roots of Osr HSA transgenic rice. | 8 | Dispersion Performance of Methanol-Diesel Emulsified Fuel Prepared by High Gravity Technology显示文摘A new continuous process for preparing methanol-diesel emulsified fuel with an Impinging Stream-Rotating Packed Bed is proposed. The droplet size of dispersed phase(methanol) of the emulsified fuel has a significant effect on the combustion of methanol-diesel emulsified fuel. In this paper, the methanol-diesel emulsified fuel uses diesel as the continuous phase and methanol as the dispersed phase. The Sauter mean diameter of the dispersed phase of methanol-diesel emulsified fuel was characterized with microphotography and arithmetic method. The experimental result showed that the Sauter mean diameter of the dispersed phase, which was decreased with the augmentation of the high gravity factor, liquid flow rate and emulsifier dosage, was inversely proportional to the methanol content. The Sauter mean diameter of the dispersed phase can be controlled and adjusted in the range of 12—40 μm through the change of operating conditions. | 9 | TiO_2–SA–Arg nanoparticles stabilized Pickering emulsion for photocatalytic degradation of nitrobenzene in a rotating annular reactor显示文摘Pickering emulsions stabilized by salicylic acid and arginine modified titanium dioxide(Ti O2–SA–Arg) nanoparticles were prepared in this study for photocatalytic degradation of nitrobenzene in a rotating annular reactor,and the effects of various design parameters of the rotating annular reactor, initial nitrobenzene concentration,catalyst amount, and solution p H on the degradation rate of nitrobenzene were investigated. Meanwhile, the degradation mechanism of nitrobenzene was proposed. The results show that increasing the aeration rate, the rotational speed, and light intensity results in a higher photocatalytic degradation rate of nitrobenzene owing to the effective clearance of electrons and a high quantity of oxidative free radicals. The degradation of nitrobenzene in the rotating annular reactor follows the pseudo first-order kinetics, but it is not well described by the Langmuir–Hinshelwood equation. Aeration has a significant effect on the photocatalytic degradation pathway of nitrobenzene.
