2Early prediction of pathological outcomes to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer patients using automated breast ultrasound显示文摘Objective: Early assessment of response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC) for breast cancer allows therapy to be individualized.The optimal assessment method has not been established.We investigated the accuracy of automated breast ultrasound(ABUS) to predict pathological outcomes after NAC.Methods: A total of 290 breast cancer patients were eligible for this study.Tumor response after 2 cycles of chemotherapy was assessed using the product change of two largest perpendicular diameters(PC) or the longest diameter change(LDC).PC and LDC were analyzed on the axial and the coronal planes respectively.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves were used to evaluate overall performance of the prediction methods.Youden's indexes were calculated to select the optimal cut-off value for each method.Sensitivity, specificity,positive and negative predictive values(PPV and NPV) and the area under the ROC curve(AUC) were calculated accordingly.Results: yp T0/is was achieved in 42 patients(14.5%) while yp T0 was achieved in 30 patients(10.3%) after NAC.All four prediction methods(PC on axial planes, LDC on axial planes, PC on coronal planes and LDC on coronal planes) displayed high AUCs(all>0.82), with the highest of 0.89 [95% confidence interval(95% CI), 0.83–0.95]when mid-treatment ABUS was used to predict final pathological complete remission(p CR).High sensitivities(85.7%–88.1%) were observed across all four prediction methods while high specificities(81.5%–85.1%) were observed in two methods used PC.The optimal cut-off values defined by our data replicate the WHO and the RECIST criteria.Lower AUCs were observed when mid-treatment ABUS was used to predict poor pathological outcomes.Conclusions: ABUS is a useful tool in early evaluation of p CR after NAC while less reliable when predicting poor pathological outcomes.Xinguang Wang Ling Huo Yingjian He Zhaoqing Fan Tianfeng Wang Yuntao Xie Jinfeng Li Tao Ouyang 2016Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2016,28,5:11

4Cancer-associated fibroblasts in breast cancer:Challenges and opportunities显示文摘The tumor microenvironment is proposed to contribute substantially to the progression of cancers,including breast cancer.Cancer-associated fibroblasts(CAFs)are the most abundant components of the tumor microenvironment.Studies have revealed that CAFs in breast cancer originate from several types of cells and promote breast cancer malignancy by secreting factors,generating exosomes,releasing nutrients,reshaping the extracellular matrix,and suppressing the function of immune cells.CAFs are also becoming therapeutic targets for breast cancer due to their specific distribution in tumors and their unique biomarkers.Agents interrupting the effect of CAFs on surrounding cells have been developed and applied in clinical trials.Here,we reviewed studies examining the heterogeneity of CAFs in breast cancer and expression patterns of CAF markers in different subtypes of breast cancer.We hope that summarizing CAFrelated studies from a historical perspective will help to accelerate the development of CAF-targeted therapeutic strategies for breast cancer.Dengdi Hu Zhaoqing Li Bin Zheng Xixi Lin Yuehong Pan Peirong Gong Wenying Zhuo Yujie Hu Cong Chen Lini Chen Jichun Zhou Linbo Wang 2022Cancer Communications2022,42,5:9
5Quantitative Simulation on Soil Moisture Contents of Two Typical Vegetation Communities in Sanjiang Plain,China显示文摘Different types of vegetation occupy different geomorphology and water gradient environments in the San-jiang Plain,indicating that the soil moisture dynamics and water balance patterns of the different vegetation communi-ties might differ from each other.In this paper,a lowland system,perpendicular to the Nongjiang River in the Honghe National Nature Reserve(HNNR),was selected as the study area.The area was occupied by the non-wetland plant forest and the typical wetland plant meadow.The Microsoft Windows-based finite element analysis software package for simulating water,heat,and solute transport in variably saturated porous media(HYDRUS),which can quantita-tively simulate water,heat,and/or solute movement in variably-saturated porous media,was used to simulate soil moisture dynamics in the root zone(20-40 cm) of those two plant communities during the growing season in 2005.The simulation results for soil moisture were in a good agreement with measured data,with the coefficient of determi-nation(R2) of 0.44-0.69 and root mean square error(RMSE) ranging between 0.0291 cm3/cm3 and 0.0457 cm3/cm3,and index of agreement(d) being from 0.612 to 0.968.During the study period,the volumetric soil moisture content of meadow increased with the depth and its coefficient of variation decreased with the depth(from 20 cm to 40 cm),while under the forest the soil moisture content at different depths varied irregularly.The calculated result of water budget showed that the water budget deficit of the meadow was higher than that of the forest,suggesting that the meadow is more likely to suffer from water stress than the forest.The quantitative simulation by HYDRUS in this study did not take surface runoff and plant growth processes into account.Improved root water uptake and surface runoff models will be needed for higher accuracy in further researches.LI Shanghua ZHOU Demin LUAN Zhaoqing PAN Yun JIAO Cuicui 2011Chinese Geographical Science2011,21,6:7
6Symphony of nanomaterials and immunotherapy based on the cancer-immunity cycle显示文摘The immune system is involved in the initiation and progression of cancer. Research on cancer and immunity has contributed to the development of several clinically successful immunotherapies. These immunotherapies often act on a single step of the cancer-immunity cycle. In recent years, the discovery of new nanomaterials has dramatically expanded the functions and potential applications of nanomaterials. In addition to acting as drug-delivery platforms, some nanomaterials can induce the immunogenic cell death(ICD) of cancer cells or regulate the profile and strength of the immune response as immunomodulators.Based on their versatility, nanomaterials may serve as an integrated platform for multiple drugs or therapeutic strategies, simultaneously targeting several steps of the cancer-immunity cycle to enhance the outcome of anticancer immune response. To illustrate the critical roles of nanomaterials in cancer immunotherapies based on cancer-immunity cycle, this review will comprehensively describe the crosstalk between the immune system and cancer, and the current applications of nanomaterials, including drug carriers, ICD inducers, and immunomodulators. 8Breast-conserving therapy and modified radical mastectomy for primary breast carcinoma:a matched comparative study显示文摘Background:To compare two types of therapy for primary breast carcinoma,breast-conserving therapy(BCT) and modified radical mastectomy(MRM),in a matched cohort study.Methods:A series of 1,746 patients with primary breast cancer treated with BCT or MRM in a single Chinese institute between January 2000 and February 2009 were analyzed retrospectively to compare their outcomes with respect to the incidence of local recurrence(LR),distant metastasis,and survival.The patients were matched with regard to age at diagnosis,spreading to axillary lymph nodes,hormone receptor status,the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and maximal tumor diameter.The match ratio was 1:1,and each arm included 873 patients.Results:The median follow-up period was 71 months.The 6-year disease-free survival(DFS) and 6-year distant disease-free survival(DDFS) rates differed significantly between two groups.The 6-year local recurrence-free survival(LRFS) rates were 98.2% [95% confidence interval(CI):0.973-0.989] in the BCT group and 98.7%(95% CI:0.980-0.994) in the MRM group(P=0.182),respectively.DFS rates in BCT and MRM groups were 91.3%(95% CI:0.894-0.932) and 86.3%(95% CI:0.840-0.886)(P<0.001),respectively,whereas the DDFS rates in BCT and MRM groups were 93.6%(95% CI:0.922-0.950) and 87.7%(95% CI:0.854-0.900)(P<0.001),respectively.Conclusions:BCT in eligible patients is as effective as MRM with respect to local tumor control,DFS and DDFS,and may result in a better outcome than MRM in Chinese primary breast cancer patients.Lize Wang Tao Ouyang Tianfeng Wang Yuntao Xie Zhaoqing Fan Benyao Lin Jinfeng Li 2015Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2015,27,6:3
9Bibliometric Analysis on Pennisetum Sinese Roxb. in China during 2006-2016显示文摘The development prospect of Pennisetum Sinese Roxb. is receiving much concern of domestic researchers. In this paper,literature of Pennisetum Sinese Roxb. was taken as basis,and bibliometric analysis method was used to make statistics of distribution of years,research institutions,authors,and research fields. The results showed that research fields of Pennisetum Sinese Roxb. in China were mainly ecological restoration,accounting for 13. 27% of the total literature; the research took on dynamic and diversified cooperation trend. In recent 5 years,the number of papers significantly increased,accounting for 93. 04% of the total literature. 10Association between HER2 status and response to neoadjuvant anthracycline followed by paclitaxel plus carboplatin chemotherapy without trastuzumab in breast cancer显示文摘Background:We recently showed HER2-positive breast cancers are less likely to respond to neoadjuvant anthracycline chemotherapy.Here,we investigated whether HER2-positive breast cancers responded to sequential neoadjuvant anthracycline followed by paclitaxel plus carboplatin regimen in the absence of trastuzumab.Methods:Women(n=372) with operable primary breast cancer initially received two cycles of neoadjuvant anthracyclines,the clinical tumor response was assessed,then patients were received four cycles of paclitaxel plus carboplatin regimen.All the patients did not received trastuzumab treatment in the neoadjuvant setting.HER2 status was determined by immunohistochemistry and/or by fluorescence in situ hybridization in corebiopsy breast cancer tissue obtained before the neoadjuvant chemotherapy.Results:Eighteen percent(67/372) of patients achieved a pathologic complete response(p CR) in their breast.HER2-positive tumors had a significant higher p CR rate than HER2-negative tumors(33.0% versus 13.5%,P<0.001) in this cohort of 372 patients,and positive HER2 status remained an independent favorable predictor of p CR in a multivariate analysis [odds ratio(OR),2.26;95% confidence interval(CI),1.18 to 4.36,P=0.015].Furthermore,patients who responded to initial anthracycline regimens were more likely to respond to paclitaxel plus carboplatin than patients who did not(p CR,27.2% versus 14.6%,P=0.005).Patients with HER2-positive tumors exhibited a significant higher p CR rate than did patients with HER2-negative tumors in both anthracycline response group(40.5% versus 20.0%,P=0.025) and anthracycline non-response group(28.3% versus 11.3%,P=0.002).Conclusions:Under the circumstance of no trastuzumab treatment,women with HER2-positive cancers derive a large benefit from paclitaxel-carboplatin-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy.Lu Yao Juan Zhang Yiqiang Liu Tao Ouyang Jinfeng Li Tianfeng Wang Zhaoqing Fan Tie Fan Benyao Lin Yuntao Xie 2015Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2015,27,6:3

12Random walk search in unstructured P2P显示文摘Unstructured P2P has power-law link distribution, and the random walk in power-law networks is analyzed. The analysis results show that the probability that a random walker walks through the high degree nodes is high in the power-law network, and the information on the high degree nodes can be easily found through random walk. Random walk spread and random walk search method (RWSS) is proposed based on the analysis result. 16A closed-form solution for a double infinite Euler-Bernoulli beam on a viscoelastic foundation subjected to harmonic line load显示文摘The dynamic response of a double infinite beam system connected by a viscoelastic foundation under the harmonic line load is studied. The double infinite beam system consists of two identical and parallel beams, and the two beams are infinite elastic homogeneous and isotropic. A viscoelastic layer connects the two beams continuously. To decouple the two coupled equations governing the response of the double infinite beam system, a variable substitution method is introduced. The frequency domain solutions of the decoupled equations are obtained by using Fourier transforms as well as Laplace transforms successively. The time domain solution in the generalized integral form are then obtained by employing the corresponding inverse transforms, i.e. Fourier transform and inverse Laplace transform. 17Modeling and analyzing dynamics of malaria transmission with host immunity显示文摘In this paper,we investigate a compart mental model for malaria transmission,where the host individuals are distributed according to their immune status.The acquired immu nity of malaria is usually booted upon each exposure and gradually declines between the consecutive bouts of the disease.It is assumed that the recovered host individuals may be reinfected due to the immunity waning over time.The existence and stability of equilibria in the system,and the effect of the immunity status on dynamics of the system,are investigated,respectively.The phenomena of multiple endemic equilibria in our model are also observed.Our obtained results show that malaria may keep recurring under the first lower prevalence,however,when malaria is spreading in a population,it may remain at a different endemic level under suitable control strategies.Li-Ming Cai Zhaoqing Li Jinliang Liu 2019International Journal of Biomathematics2019,12,6:2
18Bismuth-Based Free-Standing Electrodes for Ambient-Condition Ammonia Production in Neutral Media显示文摘Electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction is a carbon-free and energy-saving strategy for efficient synthesis of ammonia under ambient conditions.Here,we report the synthesis of nanosized Bi2O3 particles grown on functionalized exfoliated graphene(Bi2O3/FEG)via a facile electrochemical deposition method.The obtained free-standing Bi2O3/FEG achieves a high Faradaic efficiency of 11.2%and a large NH3 yield of 4.21±0.14μgNH3 h^-1 cm^-2 at-0.5 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in 0.1 M Na2SO4,better than that in the strong acidic and basic media.Benefiting from its strong interaction of Bi 6p band with the N2p orbitals,binder-free characteristic,and facile electron transfer,Bi2O3/FEG achieves superior catalytic performance and excellent long-term stability as compared with most of the previous reported catalysts.This study is significant to design low-cost,high-efficient Bi-based electrocatalysts for electrochemical ammonia synthesis.Ying Sun Zizhao Deng Xi‑Ming Song Hui Li Zihang Huang Qin Zhao Daming Feng Wei Zhang Zhaoqing Liu Tianyi Ma 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,10:2
19Micrometer-sized ferrosilicon composites wrapped with multi-layered carbon nanosheets as industrialized anodes for high energy lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Various nanostructured architectures have been demonstrated to be effective to address the issues of high capacity Si anodes. However, the scale-up of these nano-Si materials is still a critical obstacle for commercialization. Herein, we use industrial ferrosilicon as low-cost Si source and introduce a facile and scalable method to fabricate a micrometer-sized ferrosilicon/C composite anode, in which ferrosilicon microparticles are wrapped with multi-layered carbon nanosheets. The multi-layered carbon nanosheets could effectively buffer the volume variation of Si as well as create an abundant and reliable conductivity framework, ensuring fast transport of electrons. As a result, the micrometer-sized ferrosilicon/C anode achieves a stable cycling with 805.9 m Ah g-1 over 200 cycles at 500 mA g-1 and a good rate capability of455.6 mAh g-1 at 10 A g-1. 20Influence of Shim Layers on Progressive Failure of a Composite Componentin Composite-Aluminum Bolted Joint in Aerospace Structural Assembly显示文摘The influence of varying shim layers on the progressive damage/failure of a composite component in a bolted composite-aluminum aerospace structural assembly was investigated using a non-linear three-dimensional(3 D)structural solid elements assembled model of a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer(CFRP)-aluminum single-lap joint with a titanium(Ti-6 Al-4 V)fastener and a washer generated with the commercial finite element(FE)software package,ABAQUS/Standard.A progressive failure algorithm written in Fortran code with a set of appropriate degradation rules was incorporated as a user subroutine in ABAQUS to simulate the non-linear damage behavior of the composite component in the composite-aluminum bolted aerospace structure.The assembled 3 DFE model simulated,as well as the specimen for the experimental testing consisted of a carbon-epoxy IMS-977-2 substrate,aluminum alloy 7075-T651 substrate,liquid shim(Hysol EA 9394),solid peelable fiberglass shim,a titanium fastener,and a washer.In distinction to previous investigations,the influence of shim layers(liquid shim and solid peelable fiberglass shim)inserted in-between the faying surfaces(CFRP and aluminum alloy substrates)were investigated by both numerical simulations and experimental work.The simulated model and test specimens conformed to the standard test configurations for both civil and military standards.The numerical simulations correlated well with the experimental results and it has been found that:(1)The shimming procedure as agreed upon by the aerospace industry for the resolution of assembly gaps in bolted joints for composite materials is the same for a composite-aluminum structure;liquid shim series(0.3,0.5 and 0.7 mm thicknesses)prolonged the service life of the composite component whereas a solid peelable fiberglass shim most definitely had a better influence on the 0.9 assembly gap compared with the liquid shim;(2)The shim layers considerably influenced the structural strength of the composite component by delaying its ultimate failure thereby increasing its service life;and(3)Increasing the shim layer′s thickness led to a significant corresponding effect on the stiffness but with minimal effect on the ultimate load.Cephas Yaw Attahu An Luling Li Zhaoqing Gao Guoqiang 2018Transactions of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics2018,35,1:2
