| 1 | DNA image cytometry test for primary screening of esophageal cancer: a population-based multi-center study in high-risk areas in China显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of DNA image cytometry(DNA-ICM) as a primary screening method for esophageal squamous cell cancer(ESCC).Methods: A total of 5,382 local residents aged 40–69 years from three high-risk areas in China(Linzhou in Henan province, Feicheng in Shandong province and Cixian in Hebei province) from 2008 to 2011 were recruited in this population-based screening study. And 2,526 subjects declined to receive endoscopic biopsy examination with Lugol's iodine staining, while 9 and 815 subjects were excluded from liquid-based cytology and DNA-ICM test respectively due to slide quality. Finally, 2,856, 5,373 and 4,567 subjects were enrolled in the analysis for endoscopic biopsy examination, liquid-based cytology and DNA-ICM test, respectively. Sensitivity(SE), specificity(SP), negative predictive values(NPV) and positive predictive values(PPV) as well as their 95% confidence intervals(95% CI) for DNA-ICM, liquid-based cytology and the combination of the two methods were calculated. Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves were applied to determine the cutoff point of DNA-ICM for esophageal cancer.Results: DNA-ICM results were significantly correlative with esophageal cancer and precancer lesions(χ~2=18.016, P<0.001). The cutoff points were 5,802, 5,803 and 8,002 based on dissimilar pathological types of low grade intraepithelial neoplasia(LGIN), high grade intraepithelial neoplasia(HGIN), and ESCC, respectively, and 5,803 was chosen in this study considering the SE and SP. The SE, SP, PPV, NPV of DNA-ICM test(cutoff point 5,803) combined with liquid-based cytology [threshold atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance(ASCUS)] were separately 72.1%(95% CI: 70.3%-73.9%), 43.3%(95% CI: 41.3%-45.3%), 22.8%(95% CI: 21.1%-24.5%) and 87.0%(95% CI: 85.7%-88.3%) for LGIN, 85.7%(95% CI: 84.3%-87.1%), 41.3%(95% CI: 39.3%-43.3%), 4.6%(95% CI: 3.8%-5.4%) and 98.9%(95% CI: 98.5%-99.3%) for HGIN, and 96.0%(95% CI: 95.2%-96.8%), 40.8%(95% CI: 38.8%-42.8%), 1.7%(95% CI: 1.2%-2.2%) and 99.9%(95% CI: 99.8%-100.0%) for ESCC.Conclusions: It is possible to use DNA-ICM test as a primary screening method before endoscopic screening for esophageal cancer. | Meng Wang Changqing Hao Qing Ma Guohui Song Shanrui Ma Deli Zhao Lin Zhao Xinqing Li Wenqiang Wei | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2016,28,4: | 15 |
| 2 | Trends in Incidence Rates,Mortality Rates,and Age-Period-Cohort Effects of Cervical Cancer—China,2003–2017显示文摘Introduction:This study reported the trends and analyzed the age-period-cohort effects on the incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer in China.Methods:The age-standardized incidence rate(ASIR)and mortality rate(ASMR)by Segi’s world standard population were calculated using qualified consecutive data from 22 cancer registries from 2003 to 2017 in China.We performed joinpoint analysis to describe the trends and age-period-cohort analysis to estimate the independent effects of age,period and cohort on trends in incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer.Results:The ASIR and ASMR for cervical cancer in females over 20 years old increased during 2003−2017.For females<50 years,a decreasing trend in ASIR and a stable trend in ASMR were observed in urban areas after 2009.But the ASIR and ASMR kept increasing in rural areas during the whole period.For females>50 years,the ASIR and ASMR increased both in urban and rural areas.Age-period-cohort analysis showed increasing period effects on cervical cancer incidence and mortality during the whole period.The cohort effects exhibited a downward-upwarddownward pattern for the incidence(1918–1938,1938–1963,1963–1993)and mortality rates(1918–1943,1943–1963,1963–1993)in urban areas,a fluctuating pattern for incidence rate and a continuing downward pattern for mortality rate(1918–1993)in rural areas.Conclusions:The increases in cervical cancer incidence and mortality rates can be mostly explained by period effects.We observed decreases in risk for cervical cancer incidence and mortality in young female generations,which were more obvious in urban areas. | Kexin Sun Rongshou Zheng Lin Lei Siwei Zhang Hongmei Zeng Shaoming Wang Li Li Ru Chen Bingfeng Han Ji Peng Wenqiang Wei Jie He | 2022 | China CDC weekly2022,4,48: | 4 |
| 3 | Trends in Incidence Rates,Mortality Rates,and Age-Period-Cohort Effects of Female Breast Cancer—China,2003-2017显示文摘Introduction:This study reported the trends in female breast cancer incidence and mortality rates in China,and analyzed the corresponding age-periodcohort effects.Methods:Data from 22 population-based cancer registries in China between 2003 and 2017 were analyzed.Age-standardized incidence rates(ASIR)and mortality rates(ASMR)were calculated using Segi’s world standard population.Joinpoint regression was employed to evaluate trends,and age-period-cohort effects were examined using the intrinsic estimator method.Results:The ASIR for female breast cancer exhibited a more rapid increase in rural areas compared to urban areas across all age groups.The most substantial increase was observed in the 20-34 age group in rural areas[annual percent change(APC)=9.0%,95%confidence interval(CI):7.0%-11.0%,P<0.001].The ASMR for females under 50 years old remained stable from 2003 to 2017 in both urban and rural areas.However,the ASMR for females over 50 in rural areas and those over 65 in urban areas demonstrated a significant increase,with the most pronounced increase observed among females over 65 in rural areas(APC=4.9%,95%CI:2.8%-7.0%,P<0.001).Age-period-cohort analysis revealed increasing period effects and decreasing cohort effects for female breast cancer incidence and mortality rates in both urban and rural settings.Notably,the cohort effect for incidence displayed a slight upward trend for females born between 1983 and 1992 in rural areas.Conclusions:Our study revealed a rapid increase in breast cancer incidence among younger generations and an accelerated mortality rate in older populations residing in rural areas.To effectively address the growing burden of female breast cancer in China,it is essential to develop and implement targeted intervention strategies. | Kexin Sun Lin Lei Rongshou Zheng Siwei Zhang Hongmei Zeng Shaoming Wang Li Li Ru Chen Bingfeng Han Ji Peng Wenqiang Wei Jie He | 2023 | China CDC weekly2023,5,15: | 1 |

| 7 | High room-temperature magnetization in Co-doped TiO_(2) nanoparticles promoted by vacuum annealing for different durations显示文摘To clarify the contribution of oxygen vacancies to room-temperature ferromagnetism(RTFM)in cobalt doped TiO_(2)(Co-TiO_(2)),and in order to obtain the high level of magnetization suitable for spintronic devices,in this work,Co-TiO_(2) nano-particles are prepared via the sol-gel route,followed by vacuum annealing for different durations,and the influence of vacu-um annealing duration on the structure and room-temperature magnetism of the compounds is examined.The results reveal that with an increase in annealing duration,the concentration of oxygen vacancies rises steadily,while the saturation magnetiza-tion(Ms)shows an initial gradual increase,followed by a sharp decline,and even disappearance.The maximum Ms is as high as 1.19 emu/g,which is promising with respect to the development of spintronic devices.Further analysis reveals that oxygen va-cancies,modulated by annealing duration,play a critical role in tuning room-temperature magnetism.An appropriate concentra-tion of oxygen vacancies is beneficial in terms of promoting RTFM in Co-TiO_(2).However,excessive oxygen vacancies will result in a negative impact on RTFM,due to antiferromagnetic superexchange interactions originating from nearest-neighbor Co^(2+)ions. | Wenqiang Huang Rui Lin Weijie Chen Yuzhu Wang Hong Zhang | 2021 | Journal of Semiconductors2021,42,7: | 0 |

| 14 | Response of soil respiration to short-term changes in precipitation and nitrogen addition in a desert steppe显示文摘Changes in precipitation and nitrogen(N)addition may significantly affect the processes of soil carbon(C)cycle in terrestrial ecosystems,such as soil respiration.However,relatively few studies have investigated the effects of changes in precipitation and N addition on soil respiration in the upper soil layer in desert steppes.In this study,we conducted a control experiment that involved a field simulation from July 2020 to December 2021 in a desert steppe in Yanchi County,China.Specifically,we measured soil parameters including soil temperature,soil moisture,total nitrogen(TN),soil organic carbon(SOC),soil microbial biomass carbon(SMBC),soil microbial biomass nitrogen(SMBN),and contents of soil microorganisms including bacteria,fungi,actinomyces,and protozoa,and determined the components of soil respiration including soil respiration with litter(RS+L),soil respiration without litter(RS),and litter respiration(RL)under short-term changes in precipitation(control,increased precipitation by 30%,and decreased precipitation by 30%)and N addition(0.0 and 10.0 g/(m^(2)·a))treatments.Our results indicated that short-term changes in precipitation and N addition had substantial positive effects on the contents of TN,SOC,and SMBC,as well as the contents of soil actinomyces and protozoa.In addition,N addition significantly enhanced the rates of RS+L and RS by 4.8%and 8.0%(P<0.05),respectively.The increase in precipitation markedly increased the rates of RS+L and RS by 2.3%(P<0.05)and 5.7%(P<0.001),respectively.The decrease in precipitation significantly increased the rates of RS+L and RS by 12.9%(P<0.05)and 23.4%(P<0.001),respectively.In contrast,short-term changes in precipitation and N addition had no significant effects on RL rate(P>0.05).The mean RL/RS+L value observed under all treatments was 27.63%,which suggested that RL is an important component of soil respiration in the desert steppe ecosystems.The results also showed that short-term changes in precipitation and N addition had significant interactive effects on the rates of RS+L,RS,and RL(P<0.001).In addition,soil temperature was the most important abiotic factor that affected the rates of RS+L,RS,and RL.Results of the correlation analysis demonstrated that the rates of RS+L,RS,and RL were closely related to soil temperature,soil moisture,TN,SOC,and the contents of soil microorganisms,and the structural equation model revealed that SOC and SMBC are the key factors influencing the rates of RS+L,RS,and RL.This study provides further insights into the characteristics of soil C emissions in desert steppe ecosystems in the context of climate change,which can be used as a reference for future related studies. | MA Jinpeng PANG Danbo HE Wenqiang ZHANG Yaqi WU Mengyao LI Xuebin CHEN Lin | 2023 | Journal of Arid Land2023,15,9: | 0 |

| 19 | Decadal variations of the North Pacific Tropical Water at 137°E显示文摘The decadal variations of the North Pacifi c Tropical Water (NPTW) at 137°E in the western North Pacific Ocean are investigated based on the repeated hydrographic observations along with two global gridded ocean products. The results indicate that the maximum salinity of NPTW experiences signifi cant quasi-decadal variations, having maxima around 1979, 1987, 1995, 2004, and 2012, while minima around 1974, 1983, 1991, 1999, and 2008 during the period of interest. The NPTW area also shows similar quasidecadal variation, expanding/shrinking as its maximum salinity increases/decreases at the 137°E section. These variations are induced mainly by changes in the mixed layer salinity in the source region and largescale circulation in the northwestern tropical Pacific Ocean, both of which are related to the Pacific Decadal Oscillation. The underlying processes at work are further confi rmed through conducting the subsurface salinity budget analysis.
