| 1 | Seismic damage of highway bridges during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘Many highway bridges were severely damaged or completely collapsed during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.A fi eld investigation was carried out in the strongly affected areas and over 320 bridges were examined.Damage to some representative highway bridges is briefly described and a preliminary analysis of the probable causes of the damage is presented in this paper.The most common damage included shear-flexural failure of the pier columns,expansion joint failure,shear key failure,and girder sliding in the transversal or longitudinal directions due to weak connections between girder and bearings.Lessons learned from this earthquake are described and recommendations related to the design of curved and skewed bridges,design of bearings and devices to prevent girder collapse,and ductility of bridge piers are presented.Suggestions for future seismic design and retrofi tting techniques for bridges in moderate to severe earthquake areas are also proposed. | Han Qiang Du Xiuli Liu Jingbo Li Zhongxian Li Liyun Zhao Jianfeng | 2009 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2009,8,2: | 60 |
| 2 | Energy analysis and criteria for structural failure of rocks显示文摘The intrinsic relationships between energy dissipation,energy release,strength and abrupt structural failure are key to understanding the evolution of deformational processes in rocks.Theoretical and experimental studies confirm that energy plays an important role in rock deformation and failure.Dissipated energy from external forces produces damage and irreversible deformation within rock and decreases rock strength over time.Structural failure of rocks is caused by an abrupt release of strain energy that manifests as a catastrophic breakdown of the rock under certain conditions.The strain energy released in the rock volume plays a pivotal role in generating this abrupt structural failure in the rocks.In this paper,we propose criteria governing(1) the deterioration of rock strength based on energy dissipation and(2) the abrupt structural failure of rocks based on energy release.The critical stresses at the time of abrupt structural failure under various stress states can be determined by these criteria.As an example,the criteria have been used to analyze the failure conditions of surrounding rock of a circular tunnel. | Heping Xie Liyun Li Ruidong Peng Yang Ju | 2009 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2009,1,1: | 39 |
| 3 | Energy analysis for damage and catastrophic failure of rocks显示文摘The development history and current state of studies on the characteristics and mechanisms of deformation and failure of rock materials were briefly reviewed from the viewpoint of energy.The main scope and the achievable objectives of the energy-based research system were expatiated.It was validated by experiments that the damage process of rocks can be well described by the rock damage evolution equation established based on energy dissipation.It was found from the uniaxial compression and biaxial compression tests that only a small proportion of the total input energy in hard rocks is dissipated before peak load and a large proportion in soft rocks is dissipated before peak load.For both hard and soft rocks,the energy dissipated after peak load accounts for a greater proportion.More energy would be required for rock failure under equal biaxial compression than under unequal biaxial compression.The total absorbed energy is different for rock failure under high-rate loading and low-rate loading.More fragmented failure pattern usually corresponds to higher energy absorption.The mesoscopic analysis on the damage and failure of bedded salt rocks showed that the energy dissipation is prominent and the total absorbed energy for rock failure is low when cracks propagate in the weak mud interlayer while it is contrary when cracks propagate in the salt rock.The energy accumulation,transfer,dissipation and release during the failure process of tunnel with impending failure under disturbance were analyzed theoretically based on the elastoplastic mechanics theory.Furthermore,the spatial distribution of energy dissipation and energy release of fractured rocks under unloading was simulated numerically.It was demonstrated that energy is likely to be released from the weakest surface under compression,which triggers the global failure of rocks. | XIE HePing 1,2,LI LiYun 2,1,JU Yang 2,PENG RuiDong 2 & YANG YongMing 2 1 Sichuan University,Chengdu 610065,China 2 State Key Laboratory of Coal Resources and Safe Mining,Beijing Key Laboratory of Fracture and Damage Mechanics of Rock and Concrete,China University of Mining and Technology,Beijing 100083,China | 2011 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,S1: | 29 |
| 4 | Efficacy and safety of Xinfeng capsule in patients with rheumatoid arthritis:a multi-center parallel-group double-blind randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Xinfeng capsule in patients suffering rheumatoid arthritis(RA).METHODS:A multi-center parallel-group designed,double-blind,randomized,controlled trial was conducted.Totally 304 RA patients were assigned to two groups:one group was administered Xinfeng capsule(XFC) plus the placebo of leflunomide and the other given leflunomide(LEF) plus the placebo of XFC for twelve weeks.The clinical and laboratory parameters were compared at baseline and fourth,eighth,and twelfth weeks.RESULTS:After twelve-week treatment,patients in two groups all showed some trend of effectiveness when compared in terms of American Rheumatism Association(ACR) recommended 20%,50%,70%improvement criteria,but it was insignificant.The validity in ameliorate modified disease activity score(DAS28) and laboratory indexes as erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),C-reactive protein(CRP),rheumatoid factor(RF) were also found no difference.The score of health assessment questionnaire(HAQ),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),self-rating depression scale(SDS) and quality of life questionnaire with rheumatoid arthritis(RAQOL)both lower than the first week and the changes showed no difference.However,the score of SDS dropped more in XFC group than in the other.A total of 147 adverse reaction cases were reported,which shows no difference between the two groups.The most common adverse reactions were hepatic impairment,anemia,leukocytopenia,epigastric discomfort and phalacrosis.CONCLUSION:XFC demonstrated better improvement in the scores of SDS and compared with those of LEF group. | Liu Jian Wang Yuan Huang Chuanbing Xu Jianhua Li Zhijun Xu Liang He Liyun Sun Yue Wang Yali Xu Shengqian Zhao Ping Mao Tongjun Tan Bin Zhu Fubing Zhang Pingheng Fang Li | 2015 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,5: | 27 |
| 5 | Cluster analysis for syndromes of real-world coronary heartdisease with angina pectoris显示文摘Syndromes of coronary heart disease with angina pectoris were analyzed to provide guidance forclinical practice and to improve accuracy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diagnoses and efficacy of TCMtreatment. A total of 860 cases with coronary heart disease with angina pectoris were selected from TCM ClinicalResearch Information Sharing System for TCM clinics and research. Syndromes were automatically extractedwith the cluster method and were analyzed to provide objective evidence for clinical studies. Final syndromeclassifications were recognized and confirmed by clinical experts. Popular syndromes included Qi and blooddeficiency, blood stasis and obstruction collaterals, liver depression and spleen deficiency, and Qi stagnation andblood stasis. Syndromes Qi and blood deficiency and blood stasis and obstruction collaterals accounted for 28.61%of total syndromes, whereas liver depression and spleen deficiency and Qi stagnation and blood stasis accountedfor 26.44%. | 6 | Processes of initial collision and suturing between India and Asia显示文摘The initial collision between Indian and Asian continents marked the starting point for transformation of land-sea thermal contrast,uplift of the Tibet-Himalaya orogen,and climate change in Asia.In this paper,we review the published literatures from the past 30 years in order to draw consensus on the processes of initial collision and suturing that took place between the Indian and Asian plates.Following a comparison of the different methods that have been used to constrain the initial timing of collision,we propose that the tectono-sedimentary response in the peripheral foreland basin provides the most sensitive index of this event,and that paleomagnetism presents independent evidence as an alternative,reliable,and quantitative research method.In contrast to previous studies that have suggested collision between India and Asia started in Pakistan between ca.55 Ma and50 Ma and progressively closed eastwards,more recent researches have indicated that this major event first occurred in the center of the Yarlung Tsangpo suture zone(YTSZ) between ca.65 Ma and 63 Ma and then spreading both eastwards and westwards.While continental collision is a complicated process,including the processes of deformation,sedimentation,metamorphism,and magmatism,different researchers have tended to define the nature of this event based on their own understanding,an intuitive bias that has meant that its initial timing has remained controversial for decades.Here,we recommend the use of reconstructions of each geological event within the orogenic evolution sequence as this will allow interpretation of collision timing on the basis of multidisciplinary methods. | DING Lin Satybaev MAKSATBEK CAI FuLong WANG HouQi SONG PeiPing JI WeiQiang XU Qiang ZHANG LiYun Qasim MUHAMMAD Baral UPENDRA | 2017 | Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,4: | 23 |
| 7 | Mannan-binding lectin directly interacts with Toll-like receptor 4 and suppresses lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory cytokine secretion from THP-1 cells显示文摘Mannan-binding lectin(MBL)plays a key role in the lectin pathway of complement activation and can influence cytokine expression.Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)is expressed extensively and has been demonstrated to be involved in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced signaling.We first sought to determine whether MBL exposure could modulate LPS-induced inflammatory cytokine secretion and nuclear factor-kB(NF-kB)activity by using the monocytoid cell line THP-1.We then investigated the possible mechanisms underlying any observed regulatory effect.Using ELISA and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)analysis,we found that at both the protein andmRNAlevels,treatment withMBLsuppresses LPS-induced tumor-necrosis factor(TNF)-a and IL-12 production in THP-1 cells.An electrophoretic mobility shift assay and western blot analysis revealed that MBL treatment can inhibit LPS-induced NF-kB DNA binding and translocation in THP-1 cells.While the binding of MBL to THP-1 cells was evident at physiological calcium concentrations,this binding occurred optimally in response to supraphysiological calcium concentrations.This binding can be partly inhibited by treatment with either a soluble form of recombinant TLR4 extracellular domain or anti-TLR4 monoclonal antibody(HTA125).Activation of THP-1 cells by LPS treatment resulted in increased MBL binding.We also observed that MBL could directly bind to the extracellular domain of TLR4 in a dose-dependent manner,and this interaction could attenuate the binding of LPS to cell surfaces.Taken together,these data suggest that MBL may affect cytokine expression through modulation of LPS-/TLR-signaling pathways.These findings suggest that MBL may play an important role in both immune regulation and the signaling pathways involved in cytokine networks. | Mingyong Wang Yue Chen Yani Zhang Liyun Zhang Xiao Lu Zhengliang Chen | 2011 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2011,8,3: | 21 |
| 8 | Spatial patterns of ephemeral plants in Gurbantünggüt Desert显示文摘In the present research,the authors measured parameters of richness,cover and importance value of ephemeral and ephemeroid plants on south-north and east-west transects in the Gurbantünggüt Desert in early spring,and investigated and analyzed the microhabitats,such as terrain,geomorphology,soil physical-chemical properties and crusts. By comparison,the regional differences in the ephemeral distribution in the desert were revealed. The species of ephemeral plants in the south and center are the richest and those in the west are the poorest in the desert. The cover of ephemeral plants in the mid-south is higher than that in the north,and that in the mid-east is higher than that in the west. The response of ephemeral plants to the spatial variation of the desert habitat forms the population-habitat gradient of ephemeral plants. The characteristics are:(1) In the habitat with higher terrain,coarser textured soil with poorer sorting and correspondingly higher organic matter and lower alkali-saline contents,Carex physoides and Eremopyrum orientale are the dominant ephemeral plants;(2) In the dry habitat with lower terrain,looser textured soil,some organic matter,alkali-saline soil,and developed crust,the ephemeral plants Alyssum linifolium and Erodium oxyrrhynchum are of characteristic of drought and alkali-saline tolerance;(3) In the habitat with lower terrain,some water and more alkali-saline soil,the ephemeral plants Neotorularia torulosa and Hypecoum parviflorum being of alkali-saline tolerance are mainly developed. However,most ephemerals are distributed in a habitat order of higher terrain,some organic,and less alkali-saline soil on the above-mentioned ephemeral population-habitat gradient. | 9 | Bile acid receptors and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘With the high prevalence of obesity, diabetes, and otherfeatures of the metabolic syndrome in United States, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) has inevitably become a very prevalent chronic liver disease and is now emerging as one of the leading indications for liver transplantation. Insulin resistance and derangement of lipid metabolism, accompanied by activation of the pro-inflammatory response and fibrogenesis, are essential pathways in the development of the more clinically significant form of NAFLD, known as nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH). Recent advances in the functional characterization of bile acid receptors, such as farnesoid X receptor(FXR) and transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor(TGR) 5, have provided further insight in the pathophysiology of NASH and have led to the development of potential therapeutic targets for NAFLD and NASH. Beyond maintaining bile acid metabolism, FXR and TGR5 also regulate lipid metabolism, maintain glucose homeostasis, increase energy expenditure, and ameliorate hepatic inflammation. These intriguing features have been exploited to develop bile acid analogues to target pathways in NAFLD and NASH pathogenesis. | 10 | Comparsion analysis of data mining models applied to clinical research in Traditional Chinese Medicine显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To help researchers selecting appropriate data mining models to provide better evidence for the clinical practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) diagnosis and therapy.METHODS: Clinical issues based on data mining models were comprehensively summarized from four significant elements of the clinical studies:symptoms, symptom patterns, herbs, and efficacy.Existing problems were further generalized to determine the relevant factors of the performance of data mining models, e.g. data type, samples, parameters, variable labels. Combining these relevant factors, the TCM clinical data features were compared with regards to statistical characters and informatics properties. Data models were compared simultaneously from the view of applied conditions and suitable scopes.RESULTS: The main application problems were the inconsistent data type and the small samples for the used data mining models, which caused the inappropriate results, even the mistake results. | 11 | Study on the photosynthetic performances of Enteromorpha prolifera collected from the surface and bottom of the sea of Qingdao sea area显示文摘In this work, the photosynthetic performances of Enteromorpha prolifera thalli collected from the sur- face and bottom of the sea of Qingdao sea area were studied with chlorophyll fluorescence and oxy- graph technology. The samples with the highest photosynthetic activity among their kinds, the floating thalli from the sea surface of the south of the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center and the sedimentary thalli from the mud surface of the bottom Tuandao bay, were chosen as representatives of surface thalli and bottom thalli, respectively. The results showed that the maximal PSII quantum yield of the floating thalli was significantly lower than the normal level although their photosynthetic activities were relatively high; the photosynthetic potential of the thalli form the mud surface was extremely low. Thus, it is indicated that the floating thalli are seriously stressed by their environment and the thalli from the mud surface are already dead or are dying. On the other hand, the results of the laboratory cultivation showed that the sedimentary thalli cannot regain normal photosynthetic activity even under normal illumination condi- tions. Thus, the thalli from the mud surface cannot become reproductive source of the alga even if they can reach sea surface again. | 12 | Diversity characterization and association analysis of agronomic traits in a Chinese peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) mini-core collection显示文摘Association mapping is a powerful approach for exploring the molecular basis of phenotypic variations in plants.A peanut(Arachis hypogaea L.)mini-core collection in China comprising 298 accessions was genotyped using 109 simple sequence repeat(SSR)markers,which identified 554 SSR alleles and phenotyped for 15 agronomic traits in three different environments,exhibiting abundant genetic and phenotypic diversity within the panel.A model-based structure analysis assigned all accessions to three groups.Most of the accessions had the relative kinship of less than 0.05,indicating that there were no or weak relationships between accessions of the mini-core collection.For 15 agronomic traits in the peanut panel,generally the Q t K model exhibited the best performance to eliminate the false associated positives compared to the Q model and the general linear model-simple model.In total,89SSR alleles were identified to be associated with 15 agronomic traits of three environments by the Q t K model-based association analysis.Of these,eight alleles were repeatedly detected in two or three environments,and 15 alleles were commonly detected to be associated with multiple agronomic traits.Simple sequence repeat allelic effects confirmed significant differences between different genotypes of these repeatedly detected markers.Our results demonstrate the great potential of integrating the association analysis and marker-assisted breeding by utilizing the peanut mini-core collection. | Huifang Jiang Li Huang Xiaoping Ren Yuning Chen Xiaojing Zhou Youlin Xia Jiaquan Huang Yong Lei Liying Yan Liyun Wan Boshou Liao | 2014 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2014,56,2: | 14 |
| 13 | Discussion on the relationship between the Yanshanian Movement and cratonic destruction in North China显示文摘The relationship between the Yanshanian Movement, destruction of the North China Craton(NCC), and subduction of the western Pacific plate is crucial to reconstructing the middle-late Mesozoic tectonic evolution of the eastern Asian continent and margin. The Yanshanian Movement was a globally important change in crustal tectonics during the Middle-Late Jurassic.Previous research has systematically studied the formation and evolution of the Yanshanian Movement, focusing on the timing and location of tectonic movements, and the sedimentary and volcanic strata. However, the question of whether the tectonic activity occurred globally, and the characteristics of the Yanshanian Movement remain debated. The main argument is that if a tectonic movement can only be characterized by a regional or local disconformity, and if the tectonic movement occurred in an intracontinental setting, with extensive deformation but with no disconformity despite volcanic eruptions and magmatic intrusions, accompanied by changes in crustal structure and composition, should it be defined as a tectonic event or process? This question requires further analysis. The main aim of this study is to distinguish whether the Yanshanian Movement is a local feature of the eastern Asian continent, or a global tectonic event related to subduction of the Pacific Plate. In this paper, based on previous research, we discuss the spatial and temporal evolution of the Yanshanian Movement, the controlling tectonic mechanisms, and its relationship to the reactivation and destruction of the NCC and the subduction of the western Paleo-Pacific slab.We emphasize that the Yanshanian Movement in the Middle-Late Jurassic is distinct from the lithospheric thinning responsible for Early Cretaceous extension and magmatism related to the destruction of the NCC. The various tectonic stages were constrained by different dynamics and tectonic settings, or by different tectonic events and processes. Therefore, it is possible that the deformation and reactivation of the NCC contributed to its destruction, in addition to lithospheric thinning. | 16 | Promoting effect of microwave irradiation on CeO2-TiO2 catalyst for selective catalytic reduction of NO by NH3显示文摘In this work we prepared several CeO2-TiO2 catalysts for the NH3-SCR reactionusing co-precipitation with assistance of microwave irradiation.The catalytic NH3-SCR activities over CeO2-TiO2 catalysts at low temperatures are largely enhanced by the treatment of microwave irradiation,the operation temperature window is also broadened.For better understanding the promotion mechanism,the catalyst prepared by conventional co-precipitation with and without microwave irradiation treatment was characterized with H2-TPR,NH3-TPD,XPS,XRD and BET.Microwave irradiation treatment accelerates the crystallite rate of CeO2-TiO2 catalysts,and greatly enlarges their surface area by adjusting their microstructures.The resistance to SO2 and H2O is also improved via regulating the hierarchical pore structure by the microwave irradiation.Microwave irradiation treatment can also improve the redox property and increase the acid sites over the catalyst surfaces.The result of in situ DRIFTS suggests that the microwave irradiation treatment generates more Br?nsted acid sites on CeO2-TiO2-2 h catalyst,helpful in SCR reactions.XPS results show that after microwave irradiation on the CeO2-TiO2 catalysts,the surface demonstrates an elevated concentration of chemisorbed oxygen,consequently leading to better oxidation of NO to NO2.Additionally,the molar ratio of Ce3+/Ce4+has been elevated after being treated by microwave irradiation,a vital factor in enhancing the NH3-SCR activities. | Jie Cheng Liyun Song Rui Wu Shining Li Yanming Sun Hongtai Zhu Wenge Qiu Hong He | 2020 | Journal of Rare Earths2020,38,1: | 11 |

| 19 | Spatial and Temporal Changes of Arable Land Driven by Urbanization and Ecological Restoration in China显示文摘Since the industrial revolution, human activities have both expanded and intensified across the globe resulting in accelerated land use change. Land use change driven by China’s development has put pressure on the limited arable land resources, which has affected grain production. Competing land use interests are a potential threat to food security in China. Therefore, studying arable land use changes is critical for ensuring future food security and maintaining the sustainable development of arable land. Based on data from several major sources, we analyzed the spatio-temporal differences of arable land among different agricultural regions in China from 2000 to 2010 and identified the drivers of arable land expansion and loss. The results revealed that arable land decreased by 5.92 million ha or 3.31%. Arable land increased in the north and decreased in the south of China. Urbanization and ecological restoration programs were the main drivers of arable land loss, while the reclamation of other land cover types(e.g., forest, grassland, and wetland) was the primary source of the increased arable land. The majority of arable land expansion occurred in the Northwest, but the centroid for grain production moved to northeast, which indicated that new arable land was of poor quality and did not significantly contribute to the grain production capacity. | 20 | Association of three single nucleotide polymorphisms at the SIX1-SIX6 locus with primary open angle glaucoma in the Chinese population显示文摘This study investigated the genetic association of three single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs; rs10483727, rs33912345, and rs146737847) at the SIX1-SIX6 locus with primary open angle glaucoma(POAG) in the Chinese population. A total of 866 subjects with POAG(685 high-tension glaucoma(HTG) and 181 normal-tension glaucoma(NTG)) and 266 control individuals were included. Significant genetic association was identified for rs10483727 in HTG(P=0.02; odds ratio(OR)=1.31), NTG(P=7.41×10^(-6); OR=2.71), and POAG(i.e., HTG and NTG combined; P=0.001; OR=1.44). rs33912345 was also significantly associated with HTG(P=0.008; OR=1.36), NTG(P=2.72×10^(-6); OR=2.27), and POAG(P=3.84×10^(-4); OR=1.49). The rare SIX6 mutation, rs146737847, was not found in the subjects enrolled in this study. Stratification by patient age identified that both rs10483727 and rs33912345 were significantly associated with NTG in patients aged above 40 years(P=2.08×10^(-5); OR=2.28), whereas in patients aged between 20–40 years, rs33912345 was significantly associated with NTG(P=0.017; OR=2.06). In HTG, the genetic associations for both rs10483727 and rs33912345 were significant in patients aged between 20–40 years(P=0.006; OR=1.56) but not in those aged above 40 years(P=0.118, OR=1.21 and P=0.042, OR=1.29, respectively).
