Recent advances in friction and lubrication of graphene and other 2D materials:Mechanisms and applications显示文摘Two-dimensional materials having a layered structure comprise a monolayer or multilayers of atomic thickness and ultra-low shear strength.Their high specific surface area,in-plane strength, weak layer-layer interaction, and surface chemical stability result in remarkably low friction and wear-resisting properties.Thus,2D materials have attracted considerable attention. In recent years, great advances have been made in the scientific research and industrial applications of anti-friction,anti-wear,and lubrication of 2D materials. In this article, the basic nanoscale friction mechanisms of 2D materials including interfacial friction and surface friction mechanisms are summarized. This paper also includes a review of reports on lubrication mechanisms based on the film-formation,self-healing,and ball bearing mechanisms and applications based on lubricant additives, nanoscale lubricating films, and space lubrication materials of 2D materials in detail. Finally, the challenges and potential applications of 2D materials in the field of lubrication were also presented.Lincong LIU Ming ZHOU Long JIN Liangchuan LI Youtang MO Guoshi SU Xiao LI Hongwei ZHU Yu TIAN 2019Friction2019,7,3:29
Mathematical Modeling and Effect of Various Hot-Air Drying on Mushroom(Lentinus edodes)显示文摘An experimental study was performed to determine the characteristics and drying process of mushroom(Lentinus edodes) by 6 different hot-air drying methods namely isothermal drying, uniform raise drying,non-uniform raise drying, uniform intermittent drying,non-uniform intermittent drying and combined drying. The chemical composition(dry matter, ash, crude protein, crude fat, total sugars, dietary fiber, and energy),color parameters(L,a*,b*,c*,and h0) and rehydration capacities were determined.Among all the experiments,non-uniform intermittent drying reached a better comprehensive results due to the higher chemical composition, better color quality associated with high bright(26.381±5.842),high color tone(73.670±2.975),low chroma(13.349±3.456) as well as the highest rehydration(453.76% weigh of dried body).Nine kinds of classical mathematical model were used to obtained moisture data and the Midili-kucuk model can be described by the drying process with the coefficient(R2 ranged from 0.99790 to 0.99967),chi-square(χ2 ranged from 0.00003 to 0.00019) and root mean square error(RMSE ranged from 0.000486 to 0.0012367).GUO Xiao-hui XIA Chun-yan TAN Yu-rong CHEN Long MING Jian 2014Journal of Integrative Agriculture2014,13,1:22
Effectiveness of Different Waist Circumference Cut-off Values in Predicting Metabolic Syndrome Prevalence and Risk Factors in Adults in China显示文摘Objective To study the effectiveness of waist circumference cut-off values in predicting the prevalence of metabolic syndrome(MetS) and risk factors in adults in China. Methods A cross-sectional survey was condcuted in 14 provinces(autonomous region, municipality) in China. A total of 47 325 adults aged ≥20 years were selected by multistage stratified sampling, and questionnaire survey and physical and clinical examination were conducted among them. MetS was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation(IDF) criteria and modified IDF criteria. Results The age-standardized prevalence of MetS was 24.2%(22.1% in men and 25.8% in women) and 19.5%(22.1% in men and 18.0% in women) according to the IDF criteria and modified IDF criteria respectively. The age-standardized prevalence of pre-MetS was 8.1%(8.6% in men and 7.8% in women) according to the modified IDF criteria. The prevalence of MetS was higher in urban residents than rural residents and in northern China residents than in southern China residents. The prevalence of central obesity was about 30% in both men and women according to the ethnicity-specific cut-off values of waist circumference for central obesity(90 cm for men and 85 cm for women). Multivariate regression analysis revealed no significant difference in risk factors between the two MetS definitions. Conclusion Using both the modified IDF criteria and ethnicity-specific cut-off values of waist circumference can provide more useful information about the prevalence of MetS in China.ZHOU Hai Cheng LAI Ya Xin SHAN Zhong Yan JIA Wei Ping YANG Wen Ying LU Ju Ming WENG Jian Ping JI Li Nong LIU Jie TIAN Hao Ming JI Qiu He ZHU Da Long CHEN Li GUO Xiao Hui ZHAO Zhi Gang Li Qiang ZHOU Zhi Guang GE Jia Pu SHAN Guang Liang 2014Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014,27,5:17
Recent advances in gel polymer electrolyte for high-performance lithium batteries显示文摘Lithium batteries (LBs) have become increasingly important energy storage systems in our daily life. However, their practical applications are still severely plagued by the safety issues from liquid electrolyte, especially when the batteries are exposed to mechanical, thermal, or electrical abuse conditions. Gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) are being considered as an effective solution to replace currently available organic liquid electrolyte for building safer LBs. This review provides recent advancements in GPEs applied for high-performance LBs. On the one hand, from the environmental and economic point of view, the skeletons of GPEs changed from traditional polymer to renewable and degradable polymer. On the other hand, in addition to being as a component with good electrochemical and physical characterizations, the GPEs also need to provide some functions for addressing the concerns of lithium (Li) dendrites, unstable cathode electrolyte interface, dissolution and migration of transition metal ions,'shuttle effect' of polysulfides, and so on. Finally, to synchronously meet the challenges from the advanced cathode and Li metal anode, the bio-based GPEs with multi-functionality are proposed to develop high-energy/powerdensity batteries in the future.Ming Zhu Jiaxin Wu Yue Wang Mingming Song Lei Long Sajid Hussain Siyal Xiaoping Yang Gang Sui 2019Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,10:17
Uptake of HIV Self-testing among Men Who have Sex with Men in Beijing, China: a Cross-sectional Study显示文摘Objective To examine HIV self-testing uptake and its determinates among men who have sex with men(MSM) in Beijing, China. Methods A cross-sectional online survey was conducted in Beijing, China in 2016. Participants were users of a popular Chinese gay networking application and had an unknown or negative HIV status. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to examine factors associated with HIV self-testing based on adjusted odds ratio(AOR) and 95% confidence interval(CI). Results Among the 5,996 MSM included in the study, 2,383(39.7%) reported to have used HIV self-testing kits. Willingness to use an HIV self-test kit in the future was expressed by 92% of the participants. High monthly income(AOR = 1.49; CI = 1.10-2.02; P = 0.010), large number of male sex partners(≥ 2: AOR = 1.24; CI = 1.09-1.43; P = 0.002), sexual activity with commercial male sex partners(≥ 2: AOR = 1.94; CI = 1.34-2.82; P = 0.001), long-term drug use(AOR = 1.42; CI = 1.23-1.62; P < 0.001), and long-term HIV voluntary counseling and testing(VCT) attendance(AOR = 3.62; CI = 3.11-4.22; P < 0.001) were all associated with increased odds of HIV self-testing uptake. Conclusion The nearly 40% rate of HIV self-testing uptake among MSM in our sample was high. In addition, an over 90% willingness to use kits in the future was encouraging. HIV self-testing could be an important solution to help China achieve the global target of having 90% of all people living with HIV diagnosed by 2020.REN Xian Long WU Zun You MI Guo Dong MCGOOGAN Jennifer ROU Ke Ming ZHAO Yan 2017Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2017,30,6:13

Guided chemotherapy based on patient-derived mini-xenograft models improves survival of gallbladder carcinoma patients显示文摘Background:Gallbladder carcinoma is highly aggressive and resistant to chemotherapy, with no consistent strategy to guide first line chemotherapy.However,patient-derived xenograft(PDX)model has been increasingly used as an effective model for in preclinical study of chemosensitivity.Methods:Mini-PDX model was established using freshly resected primary lesions from 12 patients with gallblad-der to examine the sensitivity with five of the most commonly used chemotherapeutic agents, namely gemcitabine,oxaliplatin,5-fluorouracil,nanoparticle albumin-bound(nab)-paclitaxel,and irinotecan. The results were used to guide the selection of chemotherapeutic agents for adjunctive treatment after the surgery.Kaplan-Meier method was used to compare overall survival(OS)and disease free survival(DFS)with 45 patients who received conventional chemo-therapy with gemcitabine and oxaliplatin. Results:Cell viability assays based on mini-PDX model revealed significant heterogeneities in drug responsiveness.Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that patients in the PDX-guided chemotherapy group had significantly longer median OS(18.6 months;95%CI 15.9-21.3 months)than patients in the conventional chemotherapy group(13.9 months;95%CI 11.7-16.2 months)(P=0.030;HR 3.18;95%CI 1.47-6.91).Patients in the PDX-guided chemotherapy group also had significantly longer median DFS(17.6 months;95%CI 14.5-20.6 months)than patients in the conventional chemotherapy group(12.0 months;95%CI 9.7-14.4 months)(P=0.014;HR 3.37;95%CI 1.67-6.79).Conclusion:The use of mini-PDX model to guide selection of chemotherapeutic regimens could improve the out-come in patients with gallbladder carcinoma.Ming Zhan Rui-meng Yang Hui Wang Min He Wei Chen Sun-wang Xu Lin-hua Yang Qiang Liu Man-mei Long Jian Wang 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:11
Epigenetic regulation in B-cell maturation and its dysregulation in autoimmunity显示文摘B cells have a critical role in the initiation and acceleration of autoimmune diseases, especially those mediated byautoantibodies. In the peripheral lymphoid system, mature B cells are activated by self or/and foreign antigens andsignals from helper T cells for differentiating into either memory B cells or antibody-producing plasma cells.Accumulating evidence has shown that epigenetic regulations modulate somatic hypermutation and class switchDNA recombination during B-cell activation and differentiation. Any abnormalities in these complex regulatoryprocesses may contribute to aberrant antibody production, resulting in autoimmune pathogenesis such as systemiclupus erythematosus. Newly generated knowledge from advanced modern technologies such as next-generationsequencing, single-cell sequencing and DNA methylation sequencing has enabled us to better understand B-cellbiology and its role in autoimmune development. Thus this review aims to summarize current research progress inepigenetic modifications contributing to B-cell activation and differentiation, especially under autoimmuneconditions such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and type 1 diabetes.Haijing Wu Yaxiong Deng Yu Feng Di Long Kongyang Ma Xiaohui Wang Ming Zhao Liwei Lu Qianjin Lu 2018Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,7:10
Visceral hypersensitive rats share common dysbiosis features with irritable bowel syndrome patients显示文摘AIM: To evaluate gut microbial dysbiosis in two visceral hypersensitive models in comparison with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) patients and to explore the extent to which these models capture the dysbiosis of IBS patients. METHODS: Visceral hypersensitivity was developed using the maternal separation(MS) rat model and post-inflammatory rat model. The visceral sensitivity of the model groups and control group was evaluated using the abdominal withdraw reflex score and electromyography in response to graded colorectal distention. The 16 S ribosomal RNA gene from fecal samples was pyrosequenced and analyzed. The correlation between dysbiosis in the microbiota and visceral hypersensitivity was calculated. Positive findings were compared to sequencing data from a published human IBS cohort.RESULTS: Dysbiosis triggered by neonatal maternal separation was lasting but not static. Both MS and postinflammatory rat fecal microbiota deviated from that of the control rats to an extent that was larger than the co-housing effect. Two short chain fatty acid producing genera, Fusobacterium and Clostridium XI, were shared by the human IBS cohort and by the maternal separation rats and post-inflammatory rats, respectively, to different extents. Fusobacterium was significantly increased in the MS group, and its abundance positively correlated with the degree of visceral hypersensitivity. Porphyromonadaceae was a protective biomarker for both the rat control group and healthy human controls. CONCLUSION: The dysbiosis MS rat model and the post-inflammatory rat model captured some of the dysbiosis features of IBS patients. Fusobacterium, Clostridium XI and Porphyromonadaceae were identified as targets for future mechanistic research.Xiao-Yan Zhou Ming Li Xia Li Xin Long Xiu-Li Zuo Xiao-Hua Hou Ying-Zi Cong Yan-Qing Li 2016World Journal of Gastroenterology2016,22,22:10
Corrosion and biocompatibility improvement of magnesium-based alloys as bone implant materials:a review显示文摘Magnesium(Mg)or its alloys are widely tested as potential orthopedic implants, particularly as biodegradable alloys for fracture fixation due to their mechanical properties are close to those of bone.Currently, available Mg or its alloys are confronted with challenges in passing regulatory biosafety tests prior to clinical trials due to its fast degradation and associated degradation products. The degradation of Mg is accompanied by the release of Mg ions, the rise of pH and osmolality in surrounding environments.According to the standard of ISO 10993 Part 13,the pH value shall be appropriate to the site of intended use maintaining in an appropriate range.Approaches to overcome these challenges include the selection of adequate alloying elements, proper surface treatment techniques and control of the degradation rate of Mg or its alloys developed as orthopedic implants. To date,Mg or its alloy-based bone implants have not yet been widely used in clinical applications as medical implants. This review critically summarized published methods to improve the corrosion resistance of Mg and its alloys. The current progress on in vitro cytotoxicity and in vivo biocompatibility properties of these metals was also reviewed. This review aimed to provide a reference for further research and development(R&D)of biodegradable Mg and its alloys with regard to the evaluation of their corrosion process and biocompatibility and facilitation of their translation to clinical applications.Long Li Ming Zhang Ye Li Jie Zhao Ling Qin Yuxiao Lai 2017Regenerative Biomaterials2017,4,2:9
Cystathionine-γ-lyase ameliorates the histone demethylase JMJD3-mediated autoimmune response in rheumatoid arthritis显示文摘Cystathionine-γ-lyase(CSE),an enzyme associated with hydrogen sulfide(H2S)production,is an important endogenous regulator of inflammation.Jumonji domain-containing protein 3(JMJD3)is implicated in the immune response and inflammation. Here,we investigated the potential contribution of JMJD3 to endogenous CSE-mediated inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis(RA).Upregulated CSE and JMJD3 were identified in synovial fibroblasts(SFs)from RA patients as well as in the joints of arthritic mice.Knocking down CSE augmented inflammation in IL-1β-induced SFs by increasing JMJD3 expression. In addition,CSE−/−mice with collagen-induced arthritis(CIA)developed severe joint inflammation and bone erosion.Conversely, overexpressing CSE inhibited JMJD3 expression by the transcription factor Sp-1 and was accompanied by reduced inflammation in IL-1β-treated SFs.Furthermore,JMJD3 silencing or the administration of the JMJD3 inhibitor GSK-J4 significantly decreased the inflammatory response in IL-1β-treated SFs,mainly by controlling the methylation status of H3K27me3 at the promoter of its target genes.GSK-J4 markedly attenuated the severity of arthritis in CIA mice.In conclusion, suppressing JMJD3 expression by the transcription factor Sp-1 is likely responsible for the ability of CSE to negatively modulate the inflammatory response and reduce the progression of RA.Weijun Wu Ming Qin Wanwan Jia Zheng Huang Zhongzheng Li Di Yang Mengwei Huang Chenxi Xiao Fen Long Jianchun Mao Philip K.Moore Xinhua Liu Yi Zhun Zhu 2019Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,8:9
An overview of resistive random access memory devices显示文摘With recent progress in material science, resistive random access memory (RRAM) devices have attracted interest for nonvolatile, low-power, nondestructive readout, and high-density memories. Relevant performance parameters of RRAM devices include operating voltage, operation speed, resistance ratio, endurance, retention time, device yield, and multilevel storage. Numerous resistive-switching mechanisms, such as conductive filament, space-charge-limited conduction, trap charging and discharging, Schottky Emission, and Pool-Frenkel emission, have been proposed to explain the resistive switching of RRAM devices. In addition to a discussion of these mechanisms, the effects of electrode materials, doped oxide materials, and different configuration devices on the resistive-switching characteristics in nonvolatile memory applications, are reviewed. Finally, suggestions for future research, as well as the challenges awaiting RRAM devices, are given.LI YingTao LONG ShiBing LIU Qi LU HangBing LIU Su LIU Ming 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,28:9
CD74 and macrophage migration inhibitory factor as therapeutic targets in gastric cancer显示文摘AIM:To investigate the relationship and molecular features of CD74/macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF)/Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4) in gastric cancer.METHODS:CD74,MIF and TLR4 expression in the paraffin-embedded sections of gastric cancer from 120 patients were detected by immunohistochemical staining.Knock down of CD74 expression in gastric cancer cell line MKN-45 was performed by lentivirus transduction and detected by Western blotting.MKN-45 cell proliferation assay under the stimulants was measured by the cell counting kit 8(CCK8) assay and MIF concentration in the culture medium was detected by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay.Surface staining of CD74 in the MKN-45 cell line under the stimulation of lipopolysaccharide(LPS) was measured by flow cytometry.MIF,CD74 and TLR4 co-localization in the MKN-45 cell line was performed by the immunoprecipitation.RESULTS:CD74,MIF and TLR4 were found to be expressed in gastric cancer and increased significantly in the advanced stage, and were also associated with lymph node metastasis.Correlation analysis revealed that CD74 was positively correlated with MIF(r = 0.2367,P < 0.01) and both proteins were also associated with TLR4(r = 0.4414,r = 0.5001,respectively,P < 0.01).LPS can significantly promote MKN-45 cell proliferation(3.027 ± 0.388 vs 4.201 ± 0.092,P < 0.05),induce MIF production(54.333 ± 2.906 pg/mL vs 29.667 ± 3.180 pg/mL,P < 0.01) and cell surface expression of CD74(75.6% ± 4.046%vs 9.4% ± 0.964%,P < 0.01) at LPS concentration of 1 μg/mL compared to medium control.Knockdown of CD74 or using antiCD74 and MIF antagonist ISO-1 significantly reduced LPS-induced MKN-45 cell proliferation(4.201 ± 0.092 vs 3.337 ± 0.087,4.534 ± 0.222 vs 3.368 ± 0.290,4.058 ± 0.292vs 2.934 ± 0.197,respectively,P < 0.01).MIF,CD74 and TLR4 could co-localize in the MKN-45 cell line.CONCLUSION:Upregulation of MIF,CD74 and TLR4 are associated with increasing clinical stage and provide an opportunity as novel gastric cancer chemoprevention and/or treatment strategy.Ying-Xia Zheng Ming Yang Ting-Ting Rong Xiang-Liang Yuan Yan-Hui Ma Zhi-Hao Wang Li-Song Shen Long Cui 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,18:8

Development of a large-scale isolation chamber system for the safe and humane care of medium-sized laboratory animals harboring infectious diseases显示文摘The close phylogenetic relationship between humans and non-human primates makes non-human primates an irreplaceable model for the study of human infectious diseases. In this study,we describe the development of a large-scale automatic multi-functional isolation chamber for use with medium-sized laboratory animals carrying infectious diseases. The isolation chamber, including the transfer chain, disinfection chain, negative air pressure isolation system, animal welfare system, and the automated system,is designed to meet all biological safety standards. To create an internal chamber environment that is completely isolated from the exterior, variable frequency drive blowers are used in the air-intake and air-exhaust system, precisely controlling the filtered air flow and providing an air-barrier protection.A double door transfer port is used to transfer material between the interior of the isolation chamber and the outside.A peracetic acid sterilizer and its associated pipeline allow for complete disinfection of the isolation chamber. All of the isolation chamber parameters can be automatically controlled by a programmable computerized menu, allowing for work with different animals in different-sized cages depending on the research project. The large-scale multi-functional isolation chamber provides a useful and safe system for working with infectious medium-sized laboratory animals in high-level bio-safety laboratories.Xin PAN Jian-cheng QI Ming LONG Hao LIANG Xiao CHEN Han LI Guang-bo LI Hao ZHENG 2010Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2010,11,10:8
Ultrahigh-Q silicon racetrack resonators显示文摘An ultrahigh-Q silicon racetrack resonator is proposed and demonstrated with uniform multimode silicon photonic waveguides. It consists of two multimode straight waveguides connected by two multimode waveguide bends(MWBs).In particular, the MWBs are based on modified Euler curves, and a bent directional coupler is used to achieve the selective mode coupling for the fundamental mode and not exciting the higher-order mode in the racetrack. In this way,the fundamental mode is excited and propagates in the multimode racetrack resonator with ultralow loss and low intermode coupling.Meanwhile,it helps achieve a compact 180°bend to make a compact resonator with a maximized free spectral range(FSR).In this paper, for the chosen 1.6μm wide silicon photonic waveguide, the effective radius Reffof the designed 180°bend is as small as 29μm.The corresponding FSR is about 0.9 nm when choosing 260μm long straight waveguides in the racetrack. The present high-Q resonator is realized with a simple standard single-etching process provided by a multiproject wafer foundry. The fabricated device, which has a measured intrinsic Q-factor as high as 2.3×10~6,is the smallest silicon resonator with a>106Q-factor.LONG ZHANG LANLAN JIE MING ZHANG YI WANG YIWEI XIE YAOCHENG SHI DAOXIN DAI 2020Photonics Research2020,8,5:7
