Methylmercury and sulfate-reducing bacteria in mangrove sediments from Jiulong River Estuary,China显示文摘Estuaries are important sites for mercury (Hg) methylation, with sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) thought to be the main Hg methylators.Distributions of total mercury (THg) and methylmercury (MeHg) in mangrove sediment and sediment core from Jiulong River Estuary Provincial Mangrove Reserve,China were determined and the possible mechanisms of Hg methylation and their controlling factors in mangrove sediments were investigated.Microbiological and geochemical parameters were also determined. Results showed that SRB constitute a small fraction of total bacteria (TB) in both surface sediments and the profile of sediments. The content of THg,MeHg,TB,and SRB were (350±150)ng/g,(0.47±0.11)ng/g,(1.4×10 11±4.1×109)cfu/g dry weight (dw),and (5.0×106±2.7×106)cfu/g dw in surficial sediments, respectively, and (240±24)ng/g,(0.30±0.15)ng/g,(1.9×1011± 4.2×1010)cfu/g dw,and (1.3×106± 2.0×106) cfu/g dw in sediment core, respectively. Results showed that THg,MeHg,TB,MeHg/THg,salinity and total sulfur (TS) increased with depth, but total organic matter (TOM),SRB,and pH decreased with depth.Concentrations of MeHg in sediments showed significant positive correlation with THg,salinity,TS,and MeHg/THg,and significant negative correlation with SRB,TOM,and pH.It was concluded that other microbes, rather than SRB,may also act as main Hg methylators in mangrove sediments. | Hao Wu Zhenhua Ding Yang Liu Jinling Liu Haiyu Yan Jiayong Pan Liuqiang Li Huina Lin Guanghui Lin Haoliang Lu | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,1: | 17
Processes of coastal ecosystem carbon sequestration and approaches for increasing carbon sink显示文摘The oceans are the largest carbon pools on Earth, and play the role of a 'buffer' in climate change. Blue carbon, the carbon(mainly organic carbon) captured by marine ecosystems, is one of the important mechanisms of marine carbon storage.Blue carbon was initially recognized only in the form of visible coastal plant carbon sequestration. In fact, microorganisms(phytoplankton, bacteria, archaea, viruses, and protozoa), which did not receive much attention in the past, account for more than 90% of the total marine biomass and are the main contributors to blue carbon. Chinese coastal seas, equivalent to 1/3 of China's total land area, have a huge carbon sink potential needing urgently research and development. In this paper, we focus on the processes and mechanisms of coastal ocean's carbon sequestration and the approaches for increasing that sequestration. We discuss the structures of coastal ecosystems, the processes of carbon cycle, and the mechanisms of carbon sequestration. Using the evolution of coastal ocean's carbon sinks in sedimentary records over geologic times, we also discuss the possible effects of natural processes and anthropogenic activities on marine carbon sinks. Finally, we discuss the prospect of using carbon sequestration engineering for increasing coastal ocean's carbon storage capacity. | ZHANG Yao ZHAO MeiXun CUI Qiu FAN Wei QI JiaGuo CHEN Ying ZHANG YongYu GAO KunShan FAN JingFeng WANG GuangYi YAN ChongLing LU HaoLiang LUO YaWei ZHANG ZiLian ZHENG Qiang XIAO Wei JIAO NianZhi | 2017 | Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,5: | 6
Effects of stress dependent electrochemical reaction on voltage hysteresis of lithium ion batteries显示文摘Intercalation of lithium ions into the electrodes of lithium ion batteries is affected by the stress of active materials, leading to energy dissipation and stress dependent voltage hysteresis. A reaction-diffusion-stress coupling model is established to investigate the stress effects under galvanostatic and potentiostatic operations. It is found from simulations that the stress hysteresis contributes to the voltage hysteresis and leads to the energy dissipation. In addition, the stress induced voltage hysteresis is small in low rate galvanostatic operations but extraordinarily significant in high rate cases. In potentiostatic operations, the stresses and stress induced overpotentials increase to a peak value very soon after the operation commences and decays all the left time. Therefore,a combined charge-discharge operation is suggested, i.e., first the galvanostatic one and then the potentiostatic one. This combined operation can not only avoid the extreme stress during operations so as to prevent electrodes from failure but also reduce the voltage hysteresis and energy dissipation due to stress effects. | Haoliang LI Yicheng SONG Bo LU Junqian ZHANG | 2018 | Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2018,39,10: | 3
Event-triggered neural network control of autonomous surface vehicles over wireless network显示文摘In this paper, an event-triggered neural network control method is proposed for autonomous surface vehicles subject to uncertainties and input constraints over wireless network. An event-triggered mechanism with three logic rules is employed to determine the wireless data transmission of states and control inputs. An event-driven neural network is applied to approximate the uncertainties using aperiodic sampled states. In addition, a predictor is employed to update the weights of neural network. An event-based bounded kinetic control law is applied to address the actuator constraints. The advantage of the proposed event-triggered neural network control approach is that the network traffic can be reduced while guaranteeing system stability and speed following performance. The closed-loop control system is proved to be input-tostate stable via cascade theory. The Zeno behavior can be avoided via the proposed event-triggered neural network control approach. A simulation example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed event-triggered neural network control approach for autonomous surface vehicles. | Mingao LV Dan WANG Zhouhua PENG Lu LIU Haoliang WANG | 2020 | Science China(Information Sciences)2020,63,5: | 3

Improved methodology for efficient establishment of the myocardial ischemia-reperfusion model in pigs through the median thoracic incision显示文摘To investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of establishing porcine ischemia-reperfusion models by ligating the left anterior descending(LAD)coronary artery,we first randomly divided 16 male Bama pigs into a sham group and a model group. After anesthesia,we separated the arteries and veins.Subsequently,we rapidly located the LAD coronary artery at the beginning of its first diagonal branch through a mid-chest incision. Then,we loosened and released the ligation line after five minutes of pre-occlusion.Finally,we ligated the LAD coronary artery in situ two minutes later and loosened the ligature 60 min after ischemia.Compared with the sham group, electrocardiogram showed multiple continuous lead ST-segment elevations, and ultrasound cardiogram showed significantly lower ejection fraction and left ventricular fractional shortening at one hour and seven days post-operation in the model group.Twenty-four hours after the operation, cardiac troponin T and creatine kinase-MB isoenzyme levels significantly increased in the model group, compared with the sham group.Hematoxylin and eosin staining showed the presence of many inflammatory cells infiltrating the interstitium of the myocardium in the model group but not in the sham group.Masson staining revealed a significant increase in infarct size in the ischemia/reperfusion group. All eight pigs in the model group recovered with normal sinus heart rates, and the survival rate was 100%.In conclusion, the method can provide an accurate and stable large animal model for preclinical research on ischemia/reperfusion with a high success rate and homogeneity of the myocardial infarction area. | Liuhua Zhou Jiateng Sun Tongtong Yang Sibo Wang Tiankai Shan Lingfeng Gu Jiawen Chen Tianwen Wei Di Zhao Chong Du Yulin Bao Hao Wang Xiaohu Lu Haoliang Sun Meng Lv Di Yang Liansheng Wang | 2023 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2023,37,4: | 1
Mapping the scientific knowledge of glomalin-related soil protein with implications for carbon sequestration显示文摘Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)derived refractory organic matter, mainly in glomalinrelated soil protein(GRSP),stores globally significant amounts of carbon, attracting wide attention in response to climatic change. However, there is no synthesis review has been done so far toreveal global research progresses on GRSP,especially its ecological role forclimate mitigation. Here,we conducted a bibliometric analysis of the papers on GRSP research from 1998 to 2021,based on the Web of Science(WOS)Core Collection. We collected a total of 634 papers and analyzed the characteristics of publication outputs in various countries and institutions. In addition, keywords analysis was conducted to reveal the main researchdirections and hot trends in the field of GRSP.We confirmed that 1)the number of papers published per year has gradually increased since 2010,and increased sharply in 2019;2)the United States was the earliest country to conduct GRSP research, while Chinacurrently has the largest number of publications;3)relevant studies focus on the role from AMF and GRSP in soil health and plant health;4)the contribution of GRSP to soil carbon and its ecological function in mitigatingclimate change are the hotspot of research. The benefits of GRSP have become a consensus, however, the nature of glomalin and the mechanisms of GRSP-associated benefits still need to explore. As an important soil recalcitrant organic carbon, further studies are need to elucidate the land-ocean biogeochemical processes of GRSP and its contribution to global blue carbon. | Shanle Liu Qizhi Wang Lu Qian Binghuang Zhang Xiangwen Chen Hualong Hong Shengjie Wu Jingchun Liu Chongling Yan Haoliang Lu | 2022 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2022,8,1: | 0
Safety-Critical Model-Free Control for Multi-Target Tracking of USVs with Collision Avoidance显示文摘Dear editor,This letter addresses the multi-target tracking of underactuated unmanned surface vehicles(USVs)subject to multiple stationary/moving obstacles. The kinetic model parameters of each USV are totally unknown.A safety-critical model-free control method is proposed for tracking multiple targets with a collision-free containment formation.Specifically,a distributed containment extended state observer(DCESO)is designed to estimate the convex hull spanned by the multiple targets. At the kinematic level,a collision-free kinematic guidance law is presented using a control barrier function(CBF)and an extended state observer for each follower USV.At the kinetic level,a model-free position tracking control law by using an adaptive ESO(AESO)is presented for each follower USV.By the designed safety-critical model-free control method, cooperative tracking of multiple targets under multiple stationary/moving obstacles can be achieved using completely unknown kinetic model parameters.Simulations are provided to illustrate the efficacy of the proposed safety-critical model-free control method for a fleet of USVs. | Shengnan Gao Zhouhua Peng Haoliang Wang Lu Liu Dan Wang | 2022 | IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2022,9,7: | 0

Safety-Critical Game-Based Formation Control of Underactuated Autonomous Surface Vehicles显示文摘Dear Editor,This letter addresses the noncooperative formation control of multiple underactuated autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) in an obstacle-laden environment. Each ASV is subject to external disturbances and fully unknown model parameters.A safety-critical game-based formation control method is proposed such that the multiple AS Vs are able to track a reference trajectory, and accomplish each individual interest in safety behaviors simultaneously. The stability and safety analyses show that the closed-loop system is input-to-state stable (ISS),and the multi-ASV system is guaranteed for input-to-state safety (ISSf).Simulation results substantiate the proposed safety-critical game-based formation control method. | Nan Gu Haoliang Wang Anqing Wang Lu Liu | 2023 | IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2023,10,4: | 0
Functional-selected LiF-intercalated-graphene enabling ultra-stable lithium sulfur battery显示文摘Using a functionally selective solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)as an anodic protection layer can effectively avoid the subsequent settlement of uneven lithium electrodeposits for lithium sulfur(Li-S)batteries.To address the issues of single functional, mechanical crushing and peeling of the conventional rigid LiF SEI,a unique functional-selected rigid-flexible-coupled LiF-intercalated-graphene(LiF-GN)SEI as anodic protection is constructed, which is verified by in-operando X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)spectra.Owing to the synergistic effect of the LiF and graphene layer, this intercalated functionalselected SEI architecture exhibits a dramatic elastic modulus(rigid-flexible coupling with a shallow Young’s modulus(~430 MPa)and a tremendous Young’s modulus of~20 GPa),high mechanical strength, and can be repulsive to polysulfides, accompanied unprecedented trafficability of Li ions.Consequently, the forceful exclusion of polysulfides from the LiF-GN SEI,as confirmed by means of in-situ UV/vis analysis,Li2 S nucleation tests, and visual permeation experiments,is of profound significance for the effective protection of Li anodes and enables Li-S batteries to achieve remarkable electrochemical performance(ultralow capacity decay rate of 0.022%during 300 cycles at 1 C and high discharge capacity of 1092 mAh/g at 0.5 C). | Haoliang Lu Na Xu Xuyan Ni Jinqiu Zhou Jie Liu Zhenkang Wang Tao Qian Chenglin Yan | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,7: | 0
| 13 | On stress-induced voltage hysteresis in lithium ion batteries:Impacts of surface effects and interparticle compression显示文摘Application of silicon in high capacity electrodes of lithium ion battery suffers from stress effects and, in turn, affects voltage performance of battery. This paper established a reaction-diffusion-stress coupled model and investigated the stress induced voltage hysteresis with consideration of diffusion induced stress, surface effects and interparticle compression. It was found stress and stress induced voltage hysteresis depended on particle size. In big particles, diffusion induced stress is dominant and leads to significant hysteresis in both stress and voltage, indicating energy dissipation due to stress effects. In small particles, e.g.,radius of dozens nanometers, diffusion induced stress was negligible while surface effects played dominant role, leading to nearly vanished voltage hysteresis shifting away from equilibrium potential. According to calculation, particle sizes around 100 nm are appropriate choice for electrode design as both diffusion induced stress and surface effects are insignificant. Finally, interparticle compression pushed the stress hysteresis to compressive side and led to early termination of lithiation at cut-off voltage. Denser electrode would enhance this effect. It indicated that there must be a limit of mixing ratio of silicon because higher interparticle compressive stress due to more introduced silicon would impede the battery from fully charged. | JIN ChuanJian LI HaoLiang SONG YiCheng LU Bo SOH A.
