| 1 | Valproic acid reduces autophagy and promotes functional recovery after spinal cord injury in rats显示文摘Secondary damage is a critical determinant of the functional outcome in patients with spinal cord injury (SCI), and involves multiple mechanisms of which the most important is the loss of nerve cells mediated by multiple factors. Autophagy can result in cell death, and plays a key role in the development of SCI. It has been recognized that valproic acid (VPA) is neuroprotective in certain experimental animal models, however, the levels of autophagic changes in the process of neuroprotection by VPA treatment following SCI are still unknown. In the present study, we determined the extent of autophagy after VPA treatment in a rat model of SCI. We found that both the mRNA and protein levels of Beclin-1 and LC3 were significantly increased at 1, 2, and 6 h after SCI and peaked at 2 h; however, Western blot showed that autophagy was markedly decreased by VPA treatment at 2 h post-injury. Besides, post-SCI treatment with VPA improved the Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan scale, increased the number of ventral horn motoneurons, and reduced myelin sheath damage compared with vehicle-treated animals at 42 days after SCI. | 2 | Characteristics of atmospheric single particles during haze periods in a typical urban area of Beijing:A case study in October,2014显示文摘To investigate the composition and possible sources of particles, especially during heavy haze pollution, a single particle aerosol mass spectrometer(SPAMS) was deployed to measure the changes of single particle species and sizes during October of 2014, in Beijing. A total of 2,871,431 particles with both positive and negative spectra were collected and characterized in combination with the adaptive resonance theory neural network algorithm(ART-2a). Eight types of particles were classified: dust particles(dust, 8.1%), elemental carbon(EC, 29.0%), organic carbon(OC, 18.0%), EC and OC combined particles(ECOC, 9.5%),Na-K containing particles(Na K, 7.9%), K-containing particles(K, 21.8%), organic nitrogen and potassium containing particles(KCN, 2.3%), and metal-containing particles(metal,3.6%). Three haze pollution events(P1, P2, P3) and one clean period(clean) were analyzed,based on the mass and number concentration of PM_(2.5)and the back trajectory results from the hybrid single particle Lagrangian integrated trajectory model(Hysplit-4 model). Results showed that EC, OC and K were the major components of single particles during the three haze pollution periods, which showed clearly increased ratios compared with those in the clean period. | 3 | An improved empirical wavelet transform method for rolling bearing fault diagnosis显示文摘Empirical wavelet transform(EWT)based on the scale space method has been widely used in rolling bearing fault diagnosis.However,using the scale space method to divide the frequency band,the redundant components can easily be separated,causing the band to rupture and making it difficult to extract rolling bearing fault characteristic frequency effectively.This paper develops a method for optimizing the frequency band region based on the frequency domain feature parameter set.The frequency domain feature parameter set includes two characteristic parameters:mean and variance.After adaptively dividing the frequency band by the scale space method,the mean and variance of each band are calculated.Sub-bands with mean and variance less than the main frequency band are combined with surrounding bands for subsequent analysis.An adaptive empirical wavelet filter on each frequency band is established to obtain the corresponding empirical mode.The margin factor sensitive to the shock pulse signal is introduced into the screening of empirical modes.The empirical mode with the largest margin factor is selected to envelope spectrum analysis.Simulation and experiment data show this method avoids over-segmentation and redundancy and can extract the fault characteristic frequency easier compared with only scale space methods. | HUANG HaiRun LI Ke SU WenSheng BAI JianYi XUE ZhiGang ZHOU Lang SU Lei PECHT Michael | 2020 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,11: | 10 |
| 4 | High value of controlled attenuation parameter predicts a poor antiviral response in patients with chronic hepatits B显示文摘BACKGROUND:Controlled attenuation parameter(CAP) is a non-invasive method for diagnosing hepatic steatosis based on vibration-controlled transient elastography.The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of high value of CAP on antiviral therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis B(CHB).METHODS:Patients with CHB receiving enticavir for initial antiviral therapy were studied;they were divided into the high CAP group and normal CAP group at baseline according to the CAP values.The effect of the antiviral therapy between the two groups were compared at week 12,24 and 48.Patients with high CAP value at baseline were divided into three subgroups,mild,moderate and severe elevation;the therapeutic response were compared among patients with normal CAP and subgroups of patients with elevated CAP.RESULTS:A total of 153 patients were enrolled.Among them,63 were in the high CAP group and 90 in the normal CAP group.Patients with high CAP had lower rates of ALT normalization and HBV DNA clearance in response to antiviral therapy compared with those with normal CAP at week 12,24 and 48.Further analysis showed that the rate of ALT normalization in patients with mildly and moderately elevated CAP were significant lower than those with normal CAP at week 12 and 24;while the difference was not significant between the patients with normal CAP and those with severely elevated CAP.The rate of HBV DNA clearance was significantly lower in patients with severely elevated CAP compared with those with normal CAP at week 12,24 and 48.CONCLUSION:CHB patients with high CAP had poor response to antiviral therapy. | Jing Chen Meng-Lan Wang Qin Long Lang Bai Hong Tang | 2017 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2017,16,4: | 9 |

| 10 | Interface Reversible Electric Field Regulated by Amphoteric Charged Protein-Based Coating Toward High-Rate and Robust Zn Anode显示文摘Metallic interface engineering is a promising strategy to stabilize Zn anode via promoting Zn^(2+) uniform deposition.However,strong interactions between the coating and Zn^(2+) and sluggish transport of Zn^(2+) lead to high anodic polarization.Here,we present a bio-inspired silk fibroin(SF)coating with amphoteric charges to construct an interface reversible electric field,which manipulates the transfer kinetics of Zn^(2+) and reduces anodic polarization.The alternating positively and negatively charged surface as a build-in driving force can expedite and homogenize Zn^(2+) flux via the inter-play between the charged coating and adsorbed ions,endowing the Zn-SF anode with low polarization voltage and stable plating/stripping.Experimental analyses with theo-retical calculations suggest that SF can facilitate the desolvation of[Zn(H_(2)O)_(6)]^(2+) and provide nucleation sites for uniform deposition.Consequently,the Zn-SF anode delivers a high-rate performance with low voltage polarization(83 mV at 20 mA cm^(−2)) and excellent stability(1500 h at 1 mA cm^(−2);500 h at 10 mA cm^(−2)),realizing exceptional cumulative capacity of 2.5 Ah cm^(−2).The full cell coupled with Zn_(x)V_(2)O_(5)·nH_(2)O(ZnVO)cathode achieves specific energy of~270.5/150.6 Wh kg^(−1)(at 0.5/10 A g^(−1))with-99.8% Coulombic efficiency and retains~80.3%(at 5.0 A g^(−1))after 3000 cycles. | Meihua Zhu Qing Ran Houhou Huang Yunfei Xie Mengxiao Zhong Geyu Lu Fu-Quan Bai Xing-You Lang Xiaoteng Jia Danming Chao | 2022 | Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,12: | 2 |
| 11 | Pattern characteristics in patients with primary liver cancer in different clinical stages显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To explore the characteristics of primary liver cancer in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) by analyzing the variations of the patterns along with the clinical stages.METHODS: The patients who were hospitalized in the Changhai Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine dated from March 1999 to December 2008 were included in this retrospective study. The patients were grouped according to their cancer stages, and their patterns were judged and quantified according to the 'Standard diagnosis and quantitative criteria of the common patterns in primary liv-er cancer' formulated by the Changhai Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Statistics methods included ANOVA and nonparametric test, among others.RESULTS: The data of the 398 newly diagnosed patients showed that Qi Stagnation, Blood Stasis, and Dampness patterns were more frequent than the other basic patterns with relatively high scores; patterns of Liver Qi Stagnation, Liver Blood Stasis, and Dampness Heat were more than the other complex patterns and scored relatively high. Scores of Dampness and Liver Qi Stagnation patterns varied among the groups at different stages and the differences were statistically significant(PDampness= 0.002,PLiver Qi Stagnation= 0.020). The highest scores of Dampness pattern and Liver Qi Stagnation pattern corresponded with Stage Ⅲb, and Stage equency wⅢ a, respectively. Ocular diseases, previously associated with a higher depression risk, also impose a substantial economic burden on affected families, thus early detection and/or accurate treatment in order to avoid and prevent blindness should be emphasized. Ocular neovascularization(NV), the leading cause of blindness in a variety of eye diseases, is a pathologic process characterized by the formation, proliferation and infiltration of anomalous, tiny and leaky fragile blood vessels within the eye. Genetics have been suspected to play an important role in the occurrence of eye diseases, with the detection of a numbers of specific gene mutations. Long non-coding RNA(lnc RNAs) are novel class of regulatory molecules previously associated with various biological processes and diseases, however the nature of the relation and pathways by which they might contribute to the development of corneal, choroidal and retinal NV have not yet been completely elucidated.
