2Deformation mechanism and microstructures on polycrystalline aluminum induced by high-current pulsed electron beam显示文摘In this paper, we present an experimental investigation of deformation twinning in polycrystalline aluminum exposed to high-current pulsed electron beam (HCPEB) irradiation. The residual tensile stress with about 10 2 MPa was introduced in the irradiated surface layer. The feature characteristic irradiated with various numbers of pulses was investigated. The formation of a large number of twin bands on the surface irradiated with multiple pulses was determined. The experimental observations indicated that the deformation twinning was indeed triggered during HCPEB irradiation. It is suggested that high value of stress and strain rate induced by rapid heating and cooling due to HCPEB irradiation may cause the shifting of whole atomic planes simultaneously. 3Simultaneous incorporation of PTH(1-34) and nano-hydroxyapatite into Chitosan/Alginate Hydrogels for efficient bone regeneration显示文摘Tissue regeneration based on the utilization of artificial soft materials is considered a promising treatment for bone-related diseases.Here,we report cranial bone regeneration promoted by hydrogels that contain parathyroid hormone(PTH)peptide PTH(1-34)and nano-hydroxyapatite(nHAP).A combination of the positively charged natural polymer chitosan(CS)and negatively charged sodium alginate led to the formation of hydrogels with porous structures,as shown by scanning electron microscopy.Rheological characterizations revealed that the mechanical properties of the hydrogels were almost maintained upon the addition of nHAP and PTH(1-34).In vitro experiments showed that the hydrogel containing nHAP and PTH(1-34)exhibited strong biocompatibility and facilitated osteogenic differentiation of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(rBMSCs)via the Notch signaling pathway,as shown by the upregulated expression of osteogenic-related proteins.We found that increasing the content of PTH(1-34)in the hydrogels resulted in enhanced osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs.Implantation of the complex hydrogel into a rat cranial defect model led to efficient bone regeneration compared to the rats treated with the hydrogel alone or with nHAP,indicating the simultaneous therapeutic effect of nHAP and PTH during the treatment process.Both the in vitro and in vivo results demonstrated that simultaneously incorporating nHAP and PTH into hydrogels shows promise for bone regeneration,suggesting a new strategy for tissue engineering and regeneration in the future.Zhiyuan Zou Le Wang Zhifei Zhou Qing Sun Delong Liu Yan Chen Hao Hu Yu Cai Sixiong Lin Zhengran Yu Bizhi Tan Wei Guo Zemin Ling Xuenong Zou 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,6:7
4Mode splitting transmission effect of surface wave excitation through a metal hole array显示文摘The resonant frequencies of the excited surface waves on a metal hole array with respect to the incident angle were studied in the terahertz region.The experimental and theoretical results demonstrate that the resonant peak of surface wave excitation splits into two when transmitted through a metal hole array off-normally.The high-order mode with resonant frequency above the cutoff frequency fc(plasma frequency effect)has a shorter attenuation length than that of the low-order mode whose resonant frequency is below fc.The reason is that the high-order mode is a coupled mode consisting of surface wave and hole modes,while the low-order mode is just an excited surface wave(which can be considered as the spoof surface plasmons).Our investigation may open a door to distinguish the spoof surface plasmons and the coupled modes of surface waves and hole modes.Lin Chen Yiming Zhu Xiaofei Zang Bin Cai Zhou Li Le Xie Songlin Zhuang 2013Light(Science & Applications)2013,2,1:6

6Integrative taxonomy of the Russet Bush Warbler Locustella mandelli complex reveals a new species from central China显示文摘Background: The Russet Bush Warbler Locustella(previously Bradypterus) mandelli complex occurs in mountains in the eastern Himalayas, southern China, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The taxonomy has been debated,with one(L. seebohmi) to four(L. seebohmi, L. mandelli, L. montis and L. timorensis) species having been recognised.Methods: We used an integrative approach, incorporating analyses of morphology, vocalizations and a molecular marker, to re-evaluate species limits in the L. mandelli complex.Results: We found that central Chinese L. mandelli differed from those from India through northern Southeast Asia to southeast China in plumage, morphometrics and song. All were easily classified by song, and(wing + culmen)/tail ratio overlapped only marginally. Both groups were reciprocally monophyletic in a mitochondrial cytochrome b(cytb) gene tree, with a mean divergence of 1.0 ± 0.2%. They were sympatric and mostly altitudinally segregated in the breeding season in southern Sichuan province. We found that the Mt Victoria(western Myanmar) population differed vocally from other L. mandelli, but no specimens are available. Taiwan Bush Warbler L. alishanensis was sister to the L. mandelli complex, with the most divergent song. Plumage, vocal and cytb evidence supported the distinctness of the south Vietnamese L. mandelli idonea. The Timor Bush Warbler L. timorensis, Javan Bush Warbler L.montis and Benguet Bush Warbler L. seebohmi differed distinctly in plumage, but among-population song variation in L. montis exceeded the differences between some populations of these taxa, and mean pairwise cytb divergences were only 0.5–0.9%. We also found that some L. montis populations differed morphologically.Conclusions: We conclude that the central Chinese population of Russet Bush Warbler represents a new species,which we describe herein, breeding at mid elevations in Sichuan, Shaanxi, Hubei, Hunan and Guizhou provinces.The taxonomic status of the other allopatric populations is less clear. However, as they differ to a degree comparable with that of the sympatric L. mandelli and the new species, we elevate L. idonea to species status, and retain L. seebohmi and L. montis as separate species, the latter with timorensis as a subspecies. 7Enhancing photothermal CO2 catalysis by thermal insulating substrates显示文摘Understanding the role of heat transfer between catalysts and substrates is important for enhancing photothermal CO2 catalysis.Herein,we investigate the effect of different substrates,including silicon wafers,glass slides and copper plates,on the photothermal catalytic performance of commercial Ni catalysts.The highest CO2 conversion rate and CO selectivity are observed in the catalyst film on the glass substrate,and this can be traced to a reduced catalyst-to-substrate heat transfer that increases the catalyst temperature under illumination.Our study reveals the important role of thermal management between catalysts and substrates in photothermal catalysis and sheds light on reactor design for efficient solar-to-chemical energy conversions.Mu-Jin Cai Chao-Ran Li Le He 2020Rare Metals2020,39,8:4

10Hot deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of a Mg–Gd–Nd–Y–Zn alloy显示文摘The hot deformation behavior of homogenized Mg–6.5Gd–1.3Nd–0.7Y–0.3Zn alloy was investigated during compression at temperatures of 250–400 ℃ and at strain rates ranging from 0.001 to 0.100 s^(-1). Microstructure analyses show that the flow behaviors are associated with the deformation mechanisms. At the lower temperatures(250–300 ℃), deformation twinning is triggered due to the difficult activation of dislocation cross-slip. Dynamic recrystallization(DRX) accompanied by dynamic precipitation occurs at the temperature of 350 ℃ and influences the softening behavior of the flow.DRX that develops extensively at original grain boundaries is the main softening mechanism at the high temperature of 400 ℃ and eventually brings a more homogeneous microstructure than that in other deformation conditions. 11Numerical Investigation on Effectiveness of Flow Separation Control in Two-dimensional High-load Compressor Cascade by Synthetic Jet显示文摘The effectiveness of flow separation control in two-dimensional high load cascade by synthetic jet is investigated through numerical simulation of the effect of excitation frequency and amplitude together with the adaptability of synthetic jet to off-design conditions. Test results indicate that synthetic jet can be used to effectively control the large-scale two-dimensional flow separation in compressor cascade. Preferable results can be obtained when excitation frequency is close to or times of the characteristic frequency of original flow field. Excitation amplitude has a more important effect on the effectiveness of flow separation control, and the increase in excitation amplitude can bring about a dramatic decrease in the loss of total pressure. Synthetic jet has also a very good adaptability to off-design conditions. 13Numerical Investigations of the Influence of Unsteady Vane Trailing Edge Shock Wave on Film Cooling Effectiveness of Rotor Blade Leading Edge显示文摘Unsteady numerical simulations of a high-load transonic turbine stage have been carried out to study the influences of vane trailing edge outer-extending shockwave on rotor blade leading edge film cooling performance. The turbine stage used in this paper is composed of a vane section and a rotor one which are both near the root section of a transonic high-load turbine stage. The Mach number is 0.94 at vane outlet, and the relative Mach number is above 1.10 at rotor outlet. Various positions and oblique angles of film cooling holes were investigated in this research. Results show that the cooling efficiency on the blade surface of rotor near leading edge is significantly affected by vane trailing edge outer-extending shockwave in some cases. In the cases that film holes are close to leading edge, cooling performance suffers more from the sweeping vane trailing edge outer-extending shockwave.In addition, coolant flow ejected from oblique film holes is harder to separate from the blade surface of rotor, and can cover more blade area even under the effects of sweeping vane trailing edge shockwave. 14Simultaneous chromatographic fingerprinting and quantitative analysis of flavonoids in Pollen Typhae by high-performance capillary electrophoresis显示文摘To evaluate the quality of Pollen Typhae as used in traditional Chinese medicine,a high-performance capillary electrophoresis(HPCE)method has been developed,validated and applied to chromatographic fingerprinting and quantitation of its eight main bioactive flavonoids(naringenin,isorhamnetin 3-0-(2^(G)-α-L-rhamnosy)-rutinoside,rhamnetin 3-0-neohesperidoside,isorhamnetin,quercetin 3-0-(2^(G)-α-L-rhamnosyl)-rutinoside,quercetin 3-O-neohesperidoside,kaempferol and quer-cetin).Fingerprinting was based on the selection of nine characteristic chromatographic peaks.In quantitative analysis,the recovery of all eight compounds was in the range 98.5-102.2% with good linearity(r^(2)>0.9919)over a relatively wide concentration range.The assay was successfully applied to the analysis of the eight bioactive flavonoids in 14 different samples.The results indicate that the assay is reproducible and precise and can be used for convenient quality assessment of Pollen Typhae.Le Han Xunhong Liu Nianyun Yang Junsong Li Baochang Cai Shi Cheng 2012Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2012,2,6:3

16Optical visualization and polarized light absorption of the single-wall carbon nanotube to verify intrinsic thermal applications显示文摘The predicted extraordinary properties of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)from theoretical calculations have great potential for many applications.However,reliable experimental determination of intrinsic properties at the single-tube level is currently a matter of concern,and many challenges remain because of the unhandled and nanoscale size of individual nanotubes.Here,we demonstrated a prototype to detect the intrinsic thermal conductivity of the single-wall carbon nanotube(SWCNT)and verify the significant non-resonant optical absorption behavior on tiny nanotubes by integrating the nanotube and ice into a new core-shell design.In particular,a reversible optical visualization method based on the individual suspended ultra-long SWCNT was first developed by wrapping a nanotube with ice in the cryogenic air environment.The light-induced thermal effect on the hybrid core-shell structure was used tomelt the ice shell,which subsequently acted as a temperature sensor to verify the intrinsic thermal conductivity of the core-like nanotube.More interestingly,we successfully determined for the first time the thermal response phenomenon of the tiny absorption cross section in SWCNT in the vertical-polarization configuration and the significant non-resonant absorption behavior in the parallel-polarization configuration.These investigations will provide a better understanding for the unique optical behaviors of CNT and enable the detection of intrinsic properties of various one-dimensional nanostructures such as nanotubes,nanowires,and nanoribbons.Xiao Zhang Li Song Le Cai Xuezeng Tian Qiang Zhang Xiaoying Qi Wenbin Zhou Nan Zhang Feng Yang Qingxia Fan Yanchun Wang Huaping Liu Xuedong Bai Weiya Zhou Sishen Xie 2015Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1:2

18Numerical Investigation of Circumferential Groove Casing Treatment in a Highly-Loaded Low-Reaction Transonic Compressor Rotor显示文摘In this paper, a computational investigation of circumferential groove casing treatment in a highly-loaded low-reaction transonic compressor rotor is conducted, in which the stage reaction is significantly reduced due to a larger meridional contraction with respect to conventional transonic compressors. Steady computation at near-stall point is performed first to capture the stall inception of the rotor with smooth casing. Detailed observations, which mainly focus on the tip leakage flow behavior, obstruction and vortical structures in the tip region, determine the reason for the compressor stall. There is tip leakage vortex breakdown in the tip region. Moreover, it yields passage obstruction, and finally leads to the compressor stall. Then, attempts are made to investigate how the circumferential grooves can be applied for the compressor’s stall margin enhancement without compromising efficiency. Three configurations are obtained and analyzed by changing axial position and the number of the circumferential grooves. The results of computational parametric study indicate the optimal location of the groove is near the leading edge and the downstream grooves combine their influence on the compressor’s stabilization and performance in a cumulative manner. The optimal circumferential groove configuration produces an increase of 1% in total pressure ratio at the near-stall point and a gain of 3.7% in stall margin, without any penalty in efficiency.
