| 1 | Clinical analysis of surgical treatment of portal hypertension显示文摘AIM: To review the experience in surgery for 508 patients with portal hypertension and to explore the selection of reasonable operation under different conditions.METHODS: The data of 508 patients with portal hypertension treated surgically in 1991-2001 in our centers were analyzed. Of the 508 patients, 256 were treated with portaazygous devascularization (PAD),167 with portasystemic shunt (PSS), 62 with selective shunt (SS), 11 with combined portasystemic shunt and portaazygous devascularization (PSS+PAD), 9 with liver transplantation (LT), 3 with union operation for hepatic carcinoma and portal hypertension (HCC+PH).RESULTS: In the 167 patients treated with PSS, free portal pressure (FPP) was significantly higher in the patients with a longer diameter of the anastomotic stoma than in those with a shorter diameter before the operation (P<0.01). After the operation, FPP in the former patients markedly decreased compared to the latter ones (P<0.01).The incidence rate of hemorrhage in patients treated with PAD, PSS, SS, PSS+PAD, and HCC+PH was 21.09% (54/256), 13.77 (23/167), 11.29 (7/62), 36.36% (4/11),and 100% (3/3), respectively. The incidence rate of hepatic encephalopathy was 3.91% (10/256), 9.58% (16/167),4.84% (3/62), 9.09% (1/11), and 100% (3/3), respectively while the operative mortality was 5.49% (15/256), 4.22% (7/167), 4.84% (3/62), 9.09% (1/11), and 66.67% (2/3) respectively. The operative mortality of liver transplantation was 22.22% (2/9).CONCLUSION: Five kinds of operation in surgical treatment of portal hypertension have their advantages and disadvantages. | 2 | Total polysaccharides of the Sijunzi decoction attenuate tumor necrosis factor-α-induced damage to the barrier function of a Caco-2 cell monolayer via the nuclear factor-κB-myosin light chain kinase-myosin light chain pathway显示文摘AIM To explore the protective effects and underlying mechanisms of total polysaccharides of the Sijunzi decoction(TPSJ) on the epithelial barriers in vitro. METHODS Caco-2 cell monolayers were treated with or without TPSJ in the presence or absence of TNF-α, and paracellular permeability and transepithelial electrical resistance(TEER) were measured to evaluate the epithelial barrier function. Immunofluorescence and western blotting were respecti-vely used to evaluate the distribution and expression of the tight junction proteins claudin 1, claudin 2, zo3, and occludin in Caco-2 cells. western blotting was also used to evaluate the cellular expression of myosin light chain(MLC), phosphorylated MLC(pM LC), MLC kinase(MLCK), and nuclear factor(NF)-κB p65. RESULTS TPSJ promoted the proliferation of Caco-2 cells and inhibited TNF-α-induced secretion of pro-inflammatory cyto-kines. Furthermore, TPSJ significantly ameliorated both the reduction of TEER and the increased paracellular permeability observed in tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α-damaged Caco-2 monolayers. Furthermore, TPSJ remarkably attenuated TNF-α-induced morphological changes, downregulated the expression of claudin 1, claudin 2, zo3, and occludin, and markedly suppressed TNF-α-mediated upregulation of p-MLC and MLCK expression. Finally, TPSJ inhibited the activation and expression of NF-κB p65. | 4 | LINC00511 promotes gastric cancer cell growth by acting as a ceRNA显示文摘BACKGROUND Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the most aggressive malignancies,with a high incidence and poor prognosis worldwide.Recently,accumulating evidence has illustrated that long noncoding RNAs(lnc RNAs)play pivotal roles in many cancers.It has been reported that LINC00511 contributes to tumorigenesis in various diseases.However,the role of LINC00511 in GC cell growth remains mostly unknown.AIM To determine whether the lnc RNA LINC00511 exerted its carcinogenic function in GC via the miR-124-3 p/PDK4 axis.METHODS Cell culture and transfection,RNA extraction and quantitative real-time PCR,CCK-8 assay,Colony formation assay,Luciferase reporter assay,RIP assay,RNA pull-down assay,and Western blot analysis were used to show expression and mechanisms of LINC00511 in GC progression and apoptosis.Rescue assays were performed to verify the relationships among LINC00511,miR-124-3 p and PDK4 further.RESULTS The expression of LINC00511 was remarkably upregulated in GC cells compared to that in corresponding normal cell lines.Compared to the controls,cell proliferation was inhibited,and cell apoptosis was increased upon LINC00511knockdown,demonstrating that LINC00511 influenced GC cell growth.An exploration of the molecular mechanism revealed that LINC00511 functioned as a molecular sponge of miR-124-3 p and that PDK4 was a downstream target of miR-124-3 p in GC.Rescue assays showed that the overexpression of PDK4 could partly restore the inhibitory function of si-LINC00511 in GC.CONCLUSION These data demonstrate that LINC00511 promotes gastric cancer cell growth by acting as a ce RNA to regulate the miR-124-3 p/PDK4 axis,which may be a promising therapeutic target for GC. | Chong-Bing Sun Hong-Yi Wang Xiao-Qing Han Yong-Ning Liu Meng-Chun Wang Hong-Xia Zhang You-Feng Gu Xiao-Gang Leng | 2020 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2020,12,4: | 7 |

Beta amyloid protein 25-35 (Aβ25-35) can generate oxygen free radicals, and MCI-186 (3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one, edaravone) can specifically eliminate hydroxyl radicals. The present study introduced Aβ25-35 into PC12 cells to establish a cell model of AD, and investigated the neuroprotective effects of MCI-186 on AD. | 6 | Micelle or polymersome formation by PCL-PEG-PCL copolymers as drug delivery systems显示文摘Polye-caprolactone)-b-poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(e-caprolactone)(PCL-b-PEG-b-PCL,PCEC) triblock copolymers have been widely investigated in last several decades.Here,by altering the weight ratio of monomers in ring-opening polymerization,a series of PCEC triblock copolymers with varying hydrophobicity were synthesized,which were characterized by FTIR,1 H NMR,GPC and DSC.When PCEC copolymers with different weight ratios of PCL/PEG were dispersed in different aqueous solutions,they could self-assemble and form two distinctive nanoparticular structures:micelles or polymersomes.We then chose paclitaxel(PTX) as the model drug and encapsulate PTX into PCEC polymeric micelles and polymersomes.The physicochemical characterizations of the nanoparticles such as morphology,the size and distribution,zeta potential,drug loading content,and encapsulation efficiency were also performed.Our results showed that polymeric micelles or polymersomes from PCEC both displayed narrow size distributions and could achieve high drug loading efficiencies.In vitro cellular uptake results suggested that Nile Red loaded polymeric micelles or polymersomes displayed more internalization after 24 h incubation than those after 4 h incubation.These findings suggest that polymeric micelles and polymersomes based on PCL-b-PEG-b-PCL copolymers have great potential to effectively delivery hydrophobic drugs. | Chunyan Hu Zhuo Chen Shengjie Wu Yanfeng Han Hai Wang Hongfan Sun Deling Kong Xigang Leng Chun Wang Linhua Zhang Dunwan Zhu | 2017 | Chinese Chemical Letters2017,28,9: | 4 |
| 7 | A remote sensing monitoring method for alpine grasslands desertification in the eastern Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Alpine grassland is the typical vegetation in the eastern Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau,which has important ecological service functions,and also supports the development of alpine stock farming.In recent years,under both the natural and human disturbance,alpine grasslands in this area have appeared to different degrees of desertification.A diagnosis of the desertification degree serves as the basis for grassland ecological restoration.This study constructs a comprehensive index based on remote sensing called alpine grassland desertification index(AGDI)to monitor the areas and degree of desertification.The most relevant indicators of desertification,namely,vegetation fraction,aboveground biomass,soil moisture,and land surface temperature,were selected to establish AGDI.The geographical detector is used to reselect and assess these indicators.The results show that the overall verification accuracy of AGDI is 82.05%.In particular,the accuracy of identifying severe desertification is the highest.Our study confirms that the desertification of alpine grasslands in the eastern Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau is characterized by fragmentation.Thus,Landsat-8 OLI data with a spatial resolution of 30 m is more suitable than MODIS data for alpine grasslands desertification monitoring.The research results can provide a methodological reference for monitoring desertification of alpine grasslands and other grassland regions in the world. | KUANG Qian YUAN Quan-zhi HAN Ji-chong LENG Rong WANG Yu-shuang ZHU Ke-hong LIN Shuo REN Ping | 2020 | Journal of Mountain Science2020,17,6: | 4 |

The signals received from four position-sensitive detectors are narrow pulses with a repetition rate up to 499.654 MHz and a pulse width of around 100 ps, and their dynamic range could vary over more than 40 dB in machine research. By the employment of the under-sampling technique based on high-speed high-resolution A/D conversion, all the processing procedure is performed fully by the digital signal processing algorithms integrated in one single Field Programmable Gate Array. | 12 | Impact of Chronic Stress on Attention Control:Evidence from Behavioral and Event-Related Potential Analyses显示文摘Chronic stress affects brain function,so assessing its hazards is important for mental health.To overcome the limitations of behavioral data,we combined behavioral and event-related potentials(ERPs)in an attention network task.This task allowed us to differentiate between three specific aspects of attention:alerting,orienting,and execution.Forty-one participants under chronic stress and 31 non-stressed participants were enrolled.On the performance level,the chronically stressed group showed a significantly slower task response and lower accuracy.Concerning ERP measures,smaller cue-N1,cueN2,and larger cue-P3 amplitudes were found in the stressed group,indicating that this group was less able to assign attention to effective information,i.e.,they made inefficient use of cues and had difficulty in maintaining alerting.In addition,the stressed group showed larger target-N2 amplitudes,indicating that this group needed to allocate more cognitive resources to deal with the conflict targets task.Subgroup analysis revealed lower target-P3 amplitudes in the stressed than in the non-stressed group.Group differences associated with the attention networks were found at the ERP level.In the stressed group,excessive depletion of resources led to changes in attention control.In this study,we examined the effects of chronic stress on individual executive function from a neurological perspective.The results may benefit the development of interventions to improve executive function in chronically stressed individuals. | Qingjin Liu Yong Liu Xuechen Leng Jinfeng Han Feng Xia Hong Chen | 2020 | Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,11: | 3 |

| 15 | Chlorine doped graphitic carbon nitride nanorings as an efficient photoresponsive catalyst for water oxidation and organic decomposition显示文摘Rationally engineering the microstructure and electronic structure of catalysts to induce high activity for versatile applications remains a challenge. Herein, chlorine doped graphitic carbon nitride(Cl-doped g-C3N4) nanorings have been designed as a superior photocatalyst for pollutant degradation and oxygen evolution reaction(OER). Remarkably, Cl-doped g-C3N4 nanorings display enhanced OER performance with a small overpotential of approximately 290 m V at current density of 10 m A cm^-2 and Tafel slope of 83 m V dec-1, possessing comparable OER activity to precious metal oxides RuO2 and IrO2/C. The excellent catalytic performance of Cl-doped g-C3N4 nanorings originates from the strong oxidation capability,abundant active sites exposed and efficient charge transfer. More importantly, visible light irradiation gives rise to a prominent improvement of the OER performance, reducing the OER overpotential and Tafel slope by 140 m V and 28 m V dec^-1, respectively, demonstrating the striking photo-responsive OER activity of Cl-doped g-C3N4 nanorings. The great photo-induced improvement in OER activity would be related to the efficient charge transfer and the·OH radicals arising spontaneously on CN-Cl100 catalyst upon light irradiation.
