1A deep seismic sounding profile across the Tianshan Mountains显示文摘The deep seismic sounding profile across the Tianshan Mountains revealed a two-layer crustal structure in the Tianshan region, namely the lower and upper crusts. Lateral variations of layer velocity and thickness are evidently shown. Low-velocity layers spread discontinuously at the bottom of the upper crust. The Mono depth is 47 km in the Kuytun area and 50 km in the Xayar area. In the Tianshan Mountains, the Moho becomes deeper with the maximum depth of 62 km around the boundary between the southern and northern Tianshan Mountains. The average velocity ranges from 6.1 to 6.3 km/s in the crust and 8.15 km/s at the top of the upper mantle. Two groups of reliable reflective seismic phases of the Moho (Pm1 and Pm2) are recognized on the shot record section of the Kuytun area. A staked and offset region, 20-30 km long, is displayed within a shot-geophone distance of 190-210 km in Pm1 and Pm2. 2Genome editing in plants with MAD7 nuclease显示文摘MAD7 is an engineered nuclease of the Class 2 type V-A CRISPR-Cas(Cas12 a/Cpf1)family with a low level of homology to canonical Cas12 a nucleases.It has been publicly released as a royalty-free nuclease for both academic and commercial use.Here,we demonstrate that the CRISPR-MAD7 system can be used for genome editing and recognizes T-rich PAM sequences(YTTN)in plants.Its editing efficiency in rice and wheat is comparable to that of the widely used CRISPR-Lb Cas12 a system.We develop two variants,MAD7-RR and MAD7-RVR that increase the target range of MAD7,as well as an M-AFID(a MAD7-APOBEC fusion-induced deletion)system that creates predictable deletions from 50-deaminated Cs to the MAD7-cleavage site.Moreover,we show that MAD7 can be used for multiplex gene editing and that it is effective in generating indels when combined with other CRISPR RNA orthologs.Using the CRISPR-MAD7 system,we have obtained regenerated mutant rice and wheat plants with up to 65.6%efficiency.Qiupeng Lin Zixu Zhu Guanwen Liu Chao Sun Dexing Lin Chenxiao Xue Shengnan Li Dandan Zhang Caixia Gao Yanpeng Wang Jin-Long Qiu 2021Journal of Genetics and Genomics2021,48,6:4

8Mechanical design and energy absorption of 3D novel hybrid lattice metamaterials显示文摘In this paper,three-dimensional(3D)novel hybrid lattice structures with exceptional mechanical properties and energy absorbing performances were proposed,and experimental and finite element simulation comparisons were performed to demonstrate their potential in mechanical application.First,different types of basic cubic unit cells were designed for constructing three types of novel hybrid metamaterials,in which stepped circulation of different unit cells was conceived to generate architected metamaterials.Afterwards,quasi-static compression experiments and finite element simulations were performed to study the deformation process and failure mechanisms of as-fabricated hybrid metamaterials.The energy absorption efficiency,specific energy absorption(SEA)indicators,and energy absorption capabilities of different hybrid lattice metamaterials were compared and analyzed.The results show that the deformation mechanisms of novel hybrid lattice were beneficial for generating remarkable elevated densification strain,and the energy absorption efficiency can be tailored by altering the types or sizes of basic unit cells.Strain-hardening and bilinear features were also obtained.ZHANG Peng Biligetu QI DeXing XUE Rui LIU Kai HUANG ZhiXin WU WenWang LI Ying 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,10:1

13Impact of Autumn SST in the Japan Sea on Winter Rainfall and Air Temperature in Northeast China显示文摘We studied the impact of sea surface temperature anomaly(SSTA) in the Japan Sea and the sea area east of Japan on the winter rainfall and air temperature in Northeast(NE) China using the singular value decomposition(SVD) and empirical orthogonal function(EOF). The monthly-mean rainfall data observed at 160 stations in China, monthly-mean sea surface temperature(SST) of the Hadley Center for Climate Prediction and Research and monthly-mean air temperature from the NCEP reanalysis during 1960–2011 were used. Correlation analysis indicates that the SSTAs in the Japan Sea in September may last for three or four months and are an important index for forecasting the winter rainfall and air temperature in NE China. Positive SSTAs in the central Japan Sea and in the sea area east of Tokyo correspond to positive rainfall anomaly and negative air temperature anomaly in NE China. With the rise of SST in the Japan Sea, a weak cyclone appears over the Japan Sea. The northeasterly wind transports water vapor from the Okhotsk to NE China, resulting in more rainfall and lower air temperature. Negative SSTA years are accompanied by warmer air temperature and less snow in NE China. 19Suspected Close Contacts as the Pilot Indicator of the Growth Trend of Confirmed Population During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Simulation Approach显示文摘Regarding to the actual situation of the new coronavirus disease 2019 epidemic,social factors should be taken into account and the increasing growth trend of confirmed populations needs to be explained.A proper model needs to be established,not only to simulate the epidemic,but also to evaluate the future epidemic situation and find a pilot indicator for the outbreak.The original susceptible-infectious-recover model is modified into the susceptible-infectious-quarantine-confirm-recover combined with social factors(SIDCRL)model,which combines the natural transmission with social factors such as external interventions and isolation.The numerical simulation method is used to imitate the change curve of the cumulative number of the confirmed cases and the number of cured patients.Furthermore,we investigate the relationship between the suspected close contacts(SCC)and the final outcome of the growth trend of confirmed cases with a simulation approach.This article selects four representative countries,that is,China,South Korea,Italy,and the United States,and gives separate numerical simulations.The simulation results of the model fit the actual situation of the epidemic development and reasonable predictions are made.In addition,it is analyzed that the increasing number of SCC contributes to the epidemic outbreak and the prediction of the United States based on the population of the SCC highlights the importance of external intervention and active prevention measures.The simulation of the model verifies its reliability and stresses that observable variable SCC can be taken as a pilot indicator of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.Sisi Huang Anding Zhu Yan Wang Yancong Xu Lu Li Dexing Kong 2020Infectious Microbes & Diseases2020,2,2:0
