| 2 | Molecular Characterization and Expression Analysis of TaZFP15, a C_2H_2-Type Zinc Finger Transcription Factor Gene in Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)显示文摘Based on sequencing of part clones in a root subtractive cDNA library, an expressed sequence tag (EST) sharing high similarity to a rice C2H2 zinc finger transcription factor (ZFP15) was obtained in wheat. Through bioinformatics approach, the wheat C2H2-type ZFP gene referred to TaZFP15 has been identified and characterized. As a full-length cDNA of 670 bp, TaZFP15 has an open reading frame of 408 bp and encodes a 135-aa polypeptide. TaZFP15 contains two C2H2 zinc finger domains and each one has a conserved motif QALGGH. The typical L-box, generally identified in the C2H2 type transcription factors, has also been found in TaZFP15. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that TaZFP15 shares high similarities with rice ZFP15 (GenBank accession no. AY286473), maize ZFP (GenBank accession no. NM_001159094) and a subset of other zinc-finger transcription factor genes in plant species. The expression of TaZFP15 was up-regulated by starved-Pi stress, showing a pattern to be gradually elevated along with the progression of the Pi-stress in a 23-h treatment regime. Similarly, the transcripts of TaZFP15 in roots were also induced by nitrogen deficiency, and abiotic stresses of drought and salinity. No responses of TaZFP15 were detected in roots to nutrition deficiencies of P, Zn, and Ca, and the external treatment of abscisic acid (ABA). TaZFP15 could be specifically amplified in genome A, B, and D, and without variability in the sequences, suggesting that TaZFP15 has multi-copies in the homologous hexaploid species. Transgenic analysis in tobacco revealed that up-regulation of TaZFP15 could significantly improve plant dry mass accumulation via increasing the plant phosphorus acquisition capacity under Pi-deficiency condition. | 3 | Retrospective evaluation of lymphatic and blood vessel invasion and Borrmann types in advanced proximal gastric cancer显示文摘BACKGROUND The Borrmann classification system is used to describe the macroscopic appearance of advanced gastric cancer,and Borrmann typeⅣdisease is independently associated with a poor prognosis.AIM To evaluate the prognostic significance of lymphatic and/or blood vessel invasion(LBVI)combined with the Borrmann type in advanced proximal gastric cancer(APGC).METHODS The clinicopathological and survival data of 440 patients with APGC who underwent curative surgery between 2005 and 2012 were retrospectively analyzed.RESULTS In these 440 patients,LBVI+status was associated with Borrmann typeⅣ,low histological grade,large tumor size,and advanced pT and pN status.The 5-year survival rate of LBVI+patients was significantly lower than that of LBVI– patients,although LBVI was not an independent prognostic factor in the multivariate analysis.No significant difference in the prognosis of patients with Borrmann typeⅢ/LBVI+disease and patients with Borrmann typeⅣdisease was observed.Therefore,we proposed a revised Borrmann typeⅣ(r-BorⅣ)as Borrmann typeⅢplus LBVI+,and found that r-BorⅣwas associated with poor prognosis in patients with APGC,which outweighed the prognostic significance of pT status.CONCLUSION LBVI is related to the prognosis of APGC,but is not an independent prognostic factor.LBVI status can be used to differentiate Borrmann typesⅢandⅣ,and the same approach can be used to treat r-BorⅣand Borrmann typeⅣ. | Shan Gao Guo-Hui Cao Peng Ding Yang-Yang Zhao Peng Deng Bin Hou Kai Li Xiao-Fang Liu | 2019 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2019,11,8: | 11 |
| 4 | Outpatient versus inpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy:a single center clinical analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND:Outpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy (OPLC) developed in the United States and other developed countries as one of the fast-track surgeries performed in ambulatory centers.However,this practice has not been installed as a routine practice in the major general hospitals and medical centers in China.We designed this case-control study to evaluate the feasibility,benefits,and safety of OPLC.METHODS:Two hundred patients who had received laparoscopic cholecystectomy for various benign gallbladder pathologies from April 2007 to December 2008 at Jinling Hospital of Nanjing University School of Medicine were classified into two groups:OPLC group (100 patients),and control group (100),who were designated for inpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy (IPLC).Data were collected for age,gender,indications for surgery,American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) class,operative time,blood loss during surgery,length of hospitalization,and intra-and post-operative complications.The expenses of surgery and in-hospital care were calculated and analyzed.The operative procedures and instrumentation were standardized for laparoscopic cholecystectomy,and the procedures were performed by two attending surgeons specialized in laparoscopic surgery.OPLC was selected according to the standard criteria developed by surgeons in our hospital after review.Reasons for conversion from laparoscopic to open cholecystectomy were recorded and documented.RESULTS:One hundred patients underwent IPLC following the selection criteria for the procedure,and 99% completed the procedure.The median operative time for IPLC was 24.0 minutes,blood loss was 16.2 ml,and the time for resuming liquid then soft diet was 10.7 hours and 22.0 hours,respectively.Only one patient had postoperative urinary infection.The mean hospital stay for IPLC was 58.2 hours,and the cost for surgery and hospitalization was 8770.5 RMB yuan on average.Followup showed that 90% of the patients were satisfied with the procedure.In the OPLC group,99% of the patients underwent the procedure with a median operative time of 21.6 minutes and bleeding of 14.7 ml.The patients took liquid 11.3 hours then soft diet 20.1 hours after surgery.The mean postoperative hospital stay was 28.5 hours.In this group,89% of the patients were discharged within the first 24 hours,and the remaining 11% were released within 48 hours after surgery.Two patients developed local complications.The cost for surgery and hospitalization was 7235.7 RMB yuan,which was 17.5% less than that in the IPLC group.At follow-up,94% of the patients were satisfied with the surgery and short hospital stay.CONCLUSIONS:OPLC can effectively treat a variety of benign,non-acute gallbladder diseases with shortened waiting time and postoperative hospital stay.OPLC benefits the hospital with a rapid bed turnover rate,and reduces cost for surgery and hospitalization. | Ji, Wu Ding, Kai Li, Ling-Tang Wang, Dan Li, Ning Li, Jie-Shou | 2010 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2010,9,1: | 9 |
| 5 | Laparoscopic vs open extended right hemicolectomy for colon cancer显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the feasibility,safety,and oncologic outcomes of laparoscopic extended right hemicolectomy(LERH)for colon cancer.METHODS:Since its establishment in 2009,the Southern Chinese Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgical Study(SCLCSS)group has been dedicated to promoting patients’quality of life through minimally invasive surgery.The multicenter database was launched by combining existing datasets from members of the SCLCSS group.The study enrolled 220 consecutive patients who were recorded in the multicenter retrospective database and underwent either LERH(n=119)or open extended right hemicolectomy(OERH)(n=101)for colon cancer.Clinical characteristics,surgical outcomes,and oncologic outcomes were compared between the two groups.RESULTS:There were no significant differences in terms of age,gender,body mass index(BMI),history of previous abdominal surgery,tumor location,and tumor stage between the two groups.The blood loss was lower in the LERH group than in the OERH group[100(100-200)mL vs 150(100-200)mL,P<0.0001].The LERH group was associated with earlier first flatus(2.7±1.0 d vs 3.2±0.9 d,P<0.0001)and resumption of liquid diet(3.6±1.0 d vs 4.2±1.0 d,P<0.0001)compared to the OERH group.The postoperative hospital stay was significantly shorter in the LERH group(11.4±4.7 d vs 12.8±5.6 d,P=0.009)than in the OERH group.The complication rate was 11.8%and17.6%in the LERH and OERH groups,respectively(P=0.215).Both 3-year overall survival[LERH(92.0%)vs OERH(84.4%),P=0.209]and 3-year disease-free survival[LERH(84.6%)vs OERH(76.6%),P=0.191]were comparable between the two groups.CONCLUSION:LERH with D3 lymphadenectomy for colon cancer is a technically feasible and safe procedure,yielding comparable short-term oncologic outcomes to those of open surgery. | Li-Ying Zhao Pan Chi Wei-Xing Ding Shun-Rong Huang Si-Fen Zhang Kai Pan Yan-Feng Hu Hao Liu Guo-Xin Li | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,24: | 9 |

| 8 | Humidity Sensing of Stretchable and Transparent Hydrogel Films for Wireless Respiration Monitoring显示文摘Respiratory monitoring plays a pivotal role in health assessment and provides an important application prospect for flexible humidity sensors.However,traditional humidity sensors suffer from a trade-off between deformability,sensitivity,and transparency,and thus the development of high-performance,stretchable,and low-cost humidity sensors is urgently needed as wearable electronics.Here,ultrasensitive,highly deformable,and transparent humidity sensors are fabricated based on cost-effective polyacrylamide-based double network hydrogels.Concomitantly,a general method for preparing hydrogel films with controllable thickness is proposed to boost the sensitivity of hydrogel-based sensors due to the extensively increased specific surface area,which can be applied to different polymer networks and facilitate the development of flexible integrated electronics.In addition,sustainable tapioca rich in hydrophilic polar groups is introduced for the first time as a second cross-linked network,exhibiting excellent water adsorption capacity.Through the synergistic optimization of structure and composition,the obtained hydrogel film exhibits an ultrahigh sensitivity of 13,462.1%/%RH,which is unprecedented.Moreover,the hydrogel film-based sensor exhibits excellent repeatability and the ability to work normally under stretching with even enhanced sensitivity.As a proof of concept,we integrate the stretchable sensor with a specially designed wireless circuit and mask to fabricate a wireless respiratory interruption detection system with Bluetooth transmission,enabling real-time monitoring of human health status.This work provides a general strategy to construct high-performance,stretchable,and miniaturized hydrogel-based sensors as next-generation wearable devices for real-time monitoring of various physiological signals. | Yuning Liang Qiongling Ding Hao Wang Zixuan Wu Jianye Li Zhenyi Li Kai Tao Xuchun Gui Jin Wu | 2022 | Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,11: | 5 |
| 9 | Malnutrition in Relation with Dietary, Geographical, and Socioeconomic Factors among Older Chinese显示文摘Objective Nutrition is closely related to the health of the elderly population. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive picture of the nutrition status of elderly Chinese and its related dietary,geographical, and socioeconomic factors.Methods A total of 13,987 ≥ 60-year-old persons from the 2010–2013 Chinese National Nutrition and Health Survey were included to evaluate various aspects of malnutrition, including underweight,overweight or obesity, and micronutrient inadequacy.Results Overall, the prevalence of obesity, overweight, and underweight was 12.4%, 34.8%, and 5.7%,respectively, with disparities both geographically and socioeconomically. The prevalence of underweight was higher among the older old(≥ 75 years), rural residents and those with low income, with low education status, and residing in undeveloped West areas. More than 75% of the elderly do not meet the Dietary Reference Intakes for vitamins A, B1, B2, and E, folate, calcium, selenium, potassium, biotin,and choline, with the prevalence of inadequate intake increasing with age for most nutrients. | 11 | Biocompatible organic dots with aggregation-induced emission for in vitro and in vivo fluorescence imaging显示文摘Fluorescent probes play a key role in modern biomedical research. As compared to inorganic quantum dots (QDs) composed with heavy metal elements, organic dye-based fluorescent nanoparticles have higher biocompatibility and are richer in variety. However, traditional organic fluorophores tend to quench fluorescence upon aggregation, which is known as aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) effect that hinders the fabrication of highly emissive fluorescent nanoparticles. In this work, we demonstrate the synthesis of organic fluorescent dots with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) in far-red/near-infrared (FA/NIR) region. A conventional ACQ-characteristic fluorescent dye, 3,4:9,10-tetracarboxylic perylene bisimide (PBI), is converted into an AIE fluorogen through attaching two tetraphenylethylene (TPE) moieties. The fluorescent dots with surface folic acid groups are fabricated from PBI derivative (DTPEPBI), showing specific targeting effect to folate receptor-overexpressed cancer cells. In vivo studies also suggest that the folic acid-functionalized AIE dots preferentially accumulate in the tumor site through enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect and folate receptor-mediated active targeting effect. | 16 | Lijiang 2.4-meter Telescope and its instruments显示文摘The Lijiang 2.4-meter Telescope(LJT), the largest common-purpose optical telescope in China,has been available to the worldwide astronomical community since 2008. It is located at the Gaomeigu site,Lijiang Observatory(LJO), in the southwest of China. The site has very good observational conditions.During its 10-year operation, several instruments have been equipped on the LJT. Astronomers can perform both photometric and spectral observations. The main scientific goals of LJT include recording photometric and spectral evolution of supernovae, reverberation mapping of active galactic nuclei, investigating the physical properties of binary stars and near-earth objects(comets and asteroids), and identification of exoplanets and all kinds of transients. Until now, the masses of 41 high accretion rate black holes have been measured, and more than 168 supernovae have been identified by the LJT. More than 190 papers related to the LJT have been published. In this paper, the general observation conditions of the Gaomeigu site is introduced at first. Then, the structure of the LJT is described in detail, including the optical, mechanical, motion and control system. The specification of all the instruments and some detailed parameters of the YFOSC is also presented. | 19 | Complement C3a activates osteoclasts by regulating the PI3K/PDK1/SGK3 pathway in patients with multiple myeloma显示文摘Objective:Myeloma bone disease(MBD)is the most common complication of multiple myeloma(MM).Our previous study showed that the serum levels of C3/C4 in MM patients were significantly positively correlated with the severity of bone disease.However,the mechanism of C3 a/C4 a in osteoclasts MM patients remains unclear.Methods:The formation and function of osteoclasts were analyzed after adding C3 a/C4 a in vitro.RNA-seq analysis was used to screen the potential pathways affecting osteoclasts,and the results were verified by Western blot,q RT-PCR,and pathway inhibitors.Results:The osteoclast area per view induced by 1μg/m L(mean±SD:50.828±12.984%)and 10μg/m L(53.663±12.685%)of C3 a was significantly increased compared to the control group(0μg/m L)(34.635±8.916%)(P<0.001 and P<0.001,respectively).The relative m RNA expressions of genes,OSCAR/TRAP/RANKL/cathepsin K,induced by 1μg/m L(median:5.041,3.726,1.638,and 4.752,respectively)and 10μg/m L(median:5.140,3.702,2.250,and 5.172,respectively)of C3 a was significantly increased compared to the control group(median:3.137,2.004,0.573,and 2.257,respectively)(1μg/m L P=0.001,P=0.003,P<0.001,and P=0.008,respectively;10μg/m L:P<0.001,P=0.019,P<0.001,and P=0.002,respectively).The absorption areas of the osteoclast resorption pits per view induced by 1μg/m L(mean±SD:51.464±11.983%)and 10μg/m L(50.219±12.067%)of C3 a was also significantly increased(33.845±8.331%)(P<0.001 and P<0.001,respectively)compared to the control.There was no difference between the C4 a and control groups.RNA-seq analysis showed that C3 a promoted the proliferation of osteoclasts using the phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3 K)signaling pathway.The relative expressions of PIK3 CA/phosphoinositide dependent kinase-1(PDK1)/serum and glucocorticoid inducible protein kinases(SGK3)genes and PI3 K/PDK1/p-SGK3 protein in the C3 a group were significantly higher than in the control group.The activation role of C3 a in osteoclasts of MM patients was reduced by the SGK inhibitor(EMD638683).Conclusions:C3 a activated osteoclasts by regulating the PI3 K/PDK1/SGK3 pathways in MM patients,which was reduced using a SGK inhibitor.Overall,our results identified potential therapeutic targets and strategies for MBD patients。 | Fengjuan Jiang Hui Liu Fengping Peng Zhaoyun Liu Kai Ding Jia Song Lijuan Li Jin Chen Qing Shao Siyang Yan Kim De Veirman Karin Vanderkerken Rong Fu | 2021 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,3: | 3 |
