1Speciation with gene flow via cycles of isolation and migration:insights from multiple mangrove taxa显示文摘Allopatric speciation requiring an unbroken period of geographical isolation has been the standard model of neo-Darwinism. While doubts have been repeatedly raised, strict allopatry without any gene flow remains a plausible mechanism in most cases. To rigorously reject strict allopatry, genomic sequences superimposed on the geological records of a well-delineated geographical barrier are necessary. The Strait of Malacca,narrowly connecting the Pacific and Indian Ocean coasts, serves at different times either as a geographical barrier or a conduit of gene flow for coastal/marine species. We surveyed 1700 plants from 29 populations of 5 common mangrove species by large-scale DNA sequencing and added several whole-genome assemblies. Speciation between the two oceans is driven by cycles of isolation and gene flow due to the fluctuations in sea level leading to the opening/closing of the Strait to ocean currents. Because the time required for speciation in mangroves is longer than the isolation phases, speciation in these mangroves has proceeded through many cycles of mixing-isolation-mixing, or MIM, cycles. The MIM mechanism, by relaxing the condition of no gene flow, can promote speciation in many more geographical features than strict allopatry can. 2Identification of QTLs and Validation of qCd-2 Associated with Grain Cadmium Concentrations in Rice显示文摘Cadmium(Cd) is one of heavy metals harmful to human health. As rice is the main staple food in Asia and Cd is easily contaminated in rice, the molecular regulation of Cd accumulation should be explored. In this study, a recombinant inbred population derived from Xiang 743/Katy was grown in Cd-polluted fields and used to map the quantitative trait loci(QTLs) for Cd accumulation in rice grains. We identified seven QTLs distributed on chromosomes 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 10. These QTLs displayed phenotypic variances of 58.50% and 40.59% in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Two QTLs, qCd-2 and qCd-7, were identified in both the two years. qCd-2 was detected on the interval of RM250–RM207 on chromosome 2, with an LOD of 2.51 and a phenotypic contribution of 13.75% in 2014, and an LOD of 3.35 and a phenotypic contribution of 14.16% in 2015. qCd-7 co-localized with the cloned qCdT7 on chromosome 7 and may represent the correct candidate. The other five QTLs were detected only in one year. To further confirm the effects of qCd-2, a residual heterozygous line designated as RHL945, with a heterozygous interval of RM263–RM207 on chromosome 2, was selected from the recombinant inbred population and used to develop an F2 population consisting of 155 individual plants. By incorporating further simple sequence repeat markers into the segmental linkage map of the target region, qCd-2 was delimited in the interval of RM5404–RM3774, with an LOD value of 4.38 and a phenotypic contribution of 15.52%. 8The chloroplast-localized protein LTA1 regulates tiller angle and yield of rice显示文摘Plant architecture strongly influences rice grain yield.We report the cloning and characterization of the LTA1 gene,which simultaneously controls tiller angle and yield of rice.LTA1 encodes a chloroplastlocalized protein with a conserved YbaB DNA-binding domain,and is highly expressed in photosynthetic tissues including leaves and leaf sheaths.Disrupting the function of LTA1 leads to large tiller angle and yield reduction of rice.LTA1 affects the gravity response by mediating the distribution of endogenous auxin,thereby regulating the tiller angle.An lta1 mutant showed abnormal chloroplast development and decreased chlorophyll content and photosynthetic rate,in turn leading to reduction of rice yield.Our findings shed light on the genetic basis of tiller angle and provide a potential gene resource for the improvement of plant architecture and rice yield.Xiaowu Pan Yongchao Li Haiwen Zhang Wenqiang Liu Zheng Dong Licheng Liu Sanxiong Liu Xinnian Sheng Jun Min Rongfeng Huang Xiaoxiang Li 2022The Crop Journal2022,10,4:1
9Photocatalytic reduction of Cr(Ⅵ) over cinder-based nanoneedle in presence of tartaric acid: Synergistic performance and mechanism显示文摘Cr(Ⅵ) is a common heavy metal ion, which will seriously harm human body and environment.Therefore, the removal of Cr(Ⅵ) has become an attractive topic.In this work, cinder was used as a raw material to synthesize a nanoneedle material: γ-(AlOOH@FeOOH)(γ-Al@Fe).The physicochemical properties of γ-Al@Fe were thoroughly characterized, and its effectiveness as a catalyst for photocatalytic reduction of Cr(Ⅵ) was evaluated.The results showed that Cr(Ⅵ) could be efficiently reduced by γ-Al@Fe in the presence of tartaric acid(TA) under visible light.The variable factors on the reaction were investigated in detail, and the results showed that under optimal conditions(γ-Al@Fe 0.4 g/L, TA 0.6 g/L, pH 2), Cr(Ⅵ)was completely reduced within 7 min.Besides, scavenger experiments and EPR proved that O_(2)^(·-) and CO_(2)^(·-) played a significant role in the photocatalytic reduction of Cr(Ⅵ).TA acts as a sacrificial agent to trap the holes and generate strong reducing free radicals: CO_(2)^(·-).Dissolving O_(2) could react with electrons to generate O_(2)^(·-).This work discussed the performance and mechanism of photocatalytic reduction of Cr(Ⅵ) in detail, which provided a new idea for the resource utilization of solid waste and the treatment of heavy metal sewage.Wenwu Yang Zhenfei Yang Luhua Shao Sijian Li Yutang Liu Xinnian Xia 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,9:1

11Constructing Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene/ZnIn_(2)S_(4) heterostructure as a Schottky catalyst for photocatalytic environmental remediation显示文摘It is highly demanded to steer the charge flow in semiconductor for efficient photocatalytic environmental remediation.Herein,we designed an interfacial contact Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene/ZnIn_(2)S_(4) nanosheets(TC/ZISNS) Schottky heterostructure which could greatly enhance photogenerated charge separation of ZnIn_(2)S_(4) (ZIS).Through TEM and XPS measurement,the strong interface coupling between 2D ZnIn_(2)S_(4) nanosheets and 2D Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene were explained,and the formation of Schottky heterostructure was demonstrated by electrochemical method.To investigate the photocatalytic activity of as-prepared samples,the photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI) and photocatalytic oxidation degradation tetracycline hydrochloride(TC-H) experiments were carried out.The results showed that the Schottky catalyst(10%-TC/ZISNS) possessed the optimum photocatalytic efficiency.Especially,the apparent rate constant of Cr(VI) reduction with 10%-TC/ZISNS was 3.9 times than that of pure ZIS.The photocatalytic performance of 10%-TC/ZISNS toward degradation rate of TC-H was 1.8 times than that of pure ZIS.Finally,a possible mechanism for great enhancement of visible-light driven photocatalytic activity in the TC/ZISNS system was provided.On the whole,this work provided a new insight on 2D/2D contact Schottky heterostructure for enhancing photocatalytic activity.Sijian Li Luhua Shao Zhenfei Yang Shu Cheng Cong Yang Yutang Liu Xinnian Xia 2022Green Energy & Environment2022,7,2:1

13A breakthrough trial of an artificial liver without systemic heparinization in hyperbilirubinemia beagle models显示文摘The development of wearable artificial livers was restricted to device miniaturization and bleeding risk with water-soluble anticoagulants.Herein,a double-deck column filled with solid anticoagulant microspheres and Kevlar porous microspheres(KPMs,bilirubin adsorbents)was connected with the principle machine of wearable artificial liver(approximately 9 kg)to treat hyperbilirubinemia beagles for the first time.With the initial normal dose of heparin,the double-deck column could afford 3 h hemoperfusion in whole blood without thrombus formation.The removal efficiency of the double-deck column for total bilirubin(TBIL)was 31.4%.Interestingly,the excessive amounts of hepatocyte metabolites were also decreased by approximately 25%.The“anticoagulant+column”realized safe and effective whole blood hemoperfusion without the plasma separation system and heparin pump;however,the proposed principle machine of wearable artificial liver and“anticoagulant+column”cannot completely replace the bio-liver now.The intelligence of the device and the versatility of the adsorbent need to be improved;moreover,advanced experimental techniques need to be developed to validate the survival rates in animals.Overall,this study is a meaningful trial for the development of wearable artificial livers in the future.Yilin Wang Shanshan Wang Xueqin He Yupei Li Tao Xu Lin Xu Bo Yang Xinnian Fan Weifeng Zhao Changsheng Zhao 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,2:0
14Growth of Ag nanocrystals on multiwalled carbon nanotubes and Ag-carbon nanotube interaction显示文摘The experimental investigations on the interaction between Ag-nanocrystal particles (Ag-NCPs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in Ag-nanocrystal particles/carbon nanotubes (Ag-NCPs/CNTs) hybrid structures were reported. The growth of Ag-NCPs on multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was carried out by thermal evaporation deposition. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that Ag-NCPs had the crystal lattice feature of face-centered cube (fcc). The growth of Ag-NCPs on MWCNTs induced the cross-section deformation of MWCNT. The experimental results also showed that the synthesized Ag-NCPs/CNTs hybrid structure appeared as quasi-one dimensional nanowires containing the Ag-NCP/CNT hetero-junction. There was local cross-section deformation on MWCNTs at the interface of hetero-junction.
