2Homogeneous PLGA-lipid nanoparticle as a promising oral vaccine delivery system for ovalbumin显示文摘In this study,a polymeric lipid nanoparticle(NP)(simplified as Lipid NP)was reported as a promising oral vaccine delivery system.The Lipid NPs composed of a hydrophobic polymeric poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide)(PLGA)core and a surface coating of lipid monolayer.Membrane emulsification technique was used to obtain uniform-sized Lipid NPs.Ovalbumin(OVA)was used as a model vaccine.Compared with the pure PLGA NPs,the Lipid NPs achieved higher loading capacity(LC)and entrapment efficiency(EE)for the encapsulated OVA.An in vitro oral release profile showed that the OVA-Lipid NPs were with lower initial burst and could protect the loaded OVA from the harsh gastrointestinal(GI)environment for a long time.In addition,a human microfold cell(M-cell)transcytotic assay demonstrated that due to a lipid layer structure on the particle surface,the Lipid NPs showed higher affinity to the M-cells.Since the M-cell in the intestinal epithelium played an important role in particle transportation as well as intimately associated with the underlying immune cells,the OVA-Lipid NPs effectively induced mucosal and humoral immune responses.Tongtong Ma Lianyan Wang Tingyuan Yang Guanghui Ma Siling Wang 2014Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2014,9,3:4
3Experimental demonstration of λ/8 DFB semiconductor laser array for 1.3 μm CWDM system显示文摘In this article,we report the first experimental demonstration of an eight-wavelength λ/8 phased-shifted laser array based on the REC technique in the 1.3 μm wavelength domain.Measurement results exhibit good linearity of lasing wavelength with+/-0.35 nm wavelength residual.The SLM property was ensured with SMSRs all larger than 38 dB.Moreover,the directmodulation performance was also tested.The experimental results show that the modulation bandwidth can reach up to 13GHz even at the small injection current of 40 mA and the measured spurious-free dynamic range(SFDR)is up to 87 dB/Hz2/3,which shows good linearity.These measurements show that REC-based λ/8 phased-shifted laser array has good modulation performance and it may find potential application in actual fiber-optic systems.LU LinLin HUANG Long SHI YueChun GUO RenJia LIU Rui LI LianYan LI SiMin CHEN XiangFei 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,9:2

6Surface charge of PLA microparticles in regulation of antigen loading,macrophage phagocytosis and activation,and immune effects in vitro显示文摘The use of microparticles(MPs) as adjuvants has attracted increasing interest in vaccine delivery systems.Many physiochemical characteristics of MPs including hydrodynamic size,surface properties,and morphology can regulate the immune response.Surface charge is an important characteristic of MPs,but how it affects their adjuvanticity remains unknown.In this study,we prepared uniform-sized polylactide MPs coated with various polymers of different positive charge,and investigated how the surface charge affected antigen loading and macrophage phagocytosis and activation in vitro.A higher surface charge greatly enhanced antigen loading and antigen internalization into macrophages,promoted the expression of MHC 11 and CD80,and increased the secretion level of TNF-a.Taken together,these results indicated that surface charge was an important parameter for improving the adjuvanticity of MPs.Yuying Liu Xiaoming Chen Lianyan Wang Tingyuan Yang Qipeng Yuan Guanghui Ma 2014Particuology2014,12,6:1

16Biomass increment and mortality losses in tropical secondary forests of Hainan, China显示文摘Secondary forests, created after heavy logging,are an important part of China's forests. We investigated forest biomass and its accumulation rate in 38 plots in a tropical secondary forest on Hainan Island. These secondary forests are moderate carbon sinks, averaging1.96–2.17 t C ha-1 a-1. Biomass increment is largely by medium-sized(10–35 m) trees. Tree mortality accounts for almost 30% of the biomass and plays a negligible role in biomass accumulation estimates. Mortality rate is highly dependent on tree size. For small trees and seedlings, it is related to competition due to elevated irradiance after logging. Regarding prospective biomass and rates of accumulation, recovery is not as rapid as in secondary forests of cleared land. 19Modulation bandwidth enhancement in monolithic integrated two-section DFB lasers based on the detuned loading effect显示文摘Modulation bandwidth enhancement in a directly modulated two-section distributed feedback(TS-DFB)laser based on a detuned loading effect is investigated and experimentally demonstrated.The results show that the 3-dB bandwidth of the TS-DFB laser is increased to 17.6 GHz and that chirp parameter can be reduced to 2.24.Compared to the absence of a detuned loading effect,there is a 4.6 GHz increase and a 2.45 reduction,respectively.After transmitting a 10 Gb/s non-return-to-zero(NRZ)signal through a 5-km fiber,the modulation eye diagram still achieves a large opening.Eight-channel laser arrays with precise wavelength spacing are fabricated.Each TS-DFB laser in the array has side mode suppression ratios(SMSR)>49.093 dB and the maximum wavelength residual<0.316 nm.Yunshan Zhang Yifan Xu Shijian Guan Jilin Zheng Hongming Gu Lianyan Li Rulei Xiao Tao Fang Hui Zou Xiangfei Chen 2023Journal of Semiconductors2023,44,11:0
