| 2 | Discovery of mantle and lower crust xenoliths from early Cretaceous volcanic rocks of southwestern Tianshan,Xinjiang显示文摘In Tuoyun area of southwestern Tianshan, mantle and lower crust xenoliths are present In the volcanic rocks with ages of 101-123 Ma. Mantle xenoliths include mineral megacrysts such as kaersutite and pargasite, feldspar, biotite, and rare pyroxene and rock fragments such as perodotite, pyroxenite, amphibolite, and rare glimmerite. Lower crust xenoliths are mainly banded and massive granulite. The volcanic rocks were produced by within-plate magmatism. Occurrence of hydrous and volatile mineral megacrysts, amphibolite, and some pyroxenite containing hydrous and volatile minerals indicates that mantle metasomatism was intense. | 3 | Contrasting Characteristics of the Surface Energy Balance between the Urban and Rural Areas of Beijing显示文摘A direct comparison of urban and rural surface energy balances, as well as a variety of other variables including incoming shortwave/longwave radiation and aerosol optical depth, is conducted for the Beijing metropolitan area. The results indicate that, overall, the urban area receives a smaller amount of incoming shortwave radiation but a larger amount of incoming longwave radiation. However, comparisons in the aerosol optical depth and cloud fraction at the two locations suggest that neither aerosol optical depth nor cloud fraction alone can explain the difference in the incoming shortwave radiation. The urban–rural differences in the incoming longwave radiation are unlikely to be caused by the presence of more abundant greenhouse gases over the urban area, as suggested by some previous studies, given that water vapor is the most dominant greenhouse gas and precipitable water is found to be less in urban areas. The higher incoming longwave radiation observed over the urban area is mostly likely due to the higher temperatures of the ambient air. The urban area is also found to always produce higher sensible heat fluxes and lower latent heat fluxes in the growing season. Furthermore, the urban area is associated with a larger amount of available energy(the sum of sensible and latent heat fluxes) than the rural area, except in May and October when evapotranspiration in the rural area significantly exceeds that in the urban area. | 7 | TiO_2–SA–Arg nanoparticles stabilized Pickering emulsion for photocatalytic degradation of nitrobenzene in a rotating annular reactor显示文摘Pickering emulsions stabilized by salicylic acid and arginine modified titanium dioxide(Ti O2–SA–Arg) nanoparticles were prepared in this study for photocatalytic degradation of nitrobenzene in a rotating annular reactor,and the effects of various design parameters of the rotating annular reactor, initial nitrobenzene concentration,catalyst amount, and solution p H on the degradation rate of nitrobenzene were investigated. Meanwhile, the degradation mechanism of nitrobenzene was proposed. The results show that increasing the aeration rate, the rotational speed, and light intensity results in a higher photocatalytic degradation rate of nitrobenzene owing to the effective clearance of electrons and a high quantity of oxidative free radicals. The degradation of nitrobenzene in the rotating annular reactor follows the pseudo first-order kinetics, but it is not well described by the Langmuir–Hinshelwood equation. Aeration has a significant effect on the photocatalytic degradation pathway of nitrobenzene. | 10 | A natural allele of TAW1 contributes to high grain number and grain yield in rice显示文摘Grain number per panicle (GNP) is a complex trait controlled by quantitative trait loci (QTL),directly determining grain yield in rice.Identifying GNP-associated QTL is desirable for increasing rice yield.A rice chromosome segment substitution line (CSSL),F771,which showed increased panicle length and GNP,was identified in a set of CSSLs derived from a cross between two indica cultivars,R498 (recipient) and WY11327 (donor).Genetic analysis showed that the panicle traits in F771 were semidominant and controlled by multiple QTL.Six QTL were consistently identified by QTL-seq analysis.Among them,the major QTL q PLN10 for panicle length and GNP was localized to a 121-kb interval between markers N802 and N909 on chromosome 10.Based on quantitative real-time PCR and sequence analysis,TAWAWA1(TAW1),a known regulator of rice inflorescence architecture,was identified as the candidate gene for q PLN10.A near-isogenic line,NIL-TAW1,was developed to evaluate its effects.In comparison with the recurrent parent R498,NIL-TAW1 showed increased panicle length (14.0%),number of secondary branches (20.9%) and GNP (22.0%),and the final grain yield per plant of NIL-TAW1 was increased by18.6%.Transgenic experiments showed that an appropriate expression level of TAW1 was necessary for panicle development.Haplotype analysis suggested that the favorable F771-type (Hap 13) of TAW1was introduced from aus accessions and had great potential value in high-yield breeding both in indica and japonica varieties.Our results provide a promising genetic resource for rice grain yield improvement. | Hua Yuan Zhengyan Xu Xueqin Tan Peng Gao Mengya Jin Wencheng Song Shiguang Wang Yunhai Kang Peixiong Liu Bin Tu Yuping Wang Peng Qin Shigui Li Bingtian Ma Weilan Chen | 2021 | The Crop Journal2021,9,5: | 2 |
