1Developing the Science Product Algorithm Testbed for Chinese Next-Generation Geostationary Meteorological Satellites:Fengyun-4 Series显示文摘Fengyun-4A(FY-4A), the first of the Chinese next-generation geostationary meteorological satellites, launched in2016, offers several advances over the FY-2: more spectral bands, faster imaging, and infrared hyperspectral measurements. To support the major objective of developing the prototypes of FY-4 science algorithms, two science product algorithm testbeds for imagers and sounders have been developed by the scientists in the FY-4 Algorithm Working Group(AWG). Both testbeds, written in FORTRAN and C programming languages for Linux or UNIX systems, have been tested successfully by using Intel/g compilers. Some important FY-4 science products, including cloud mask, cloud properties, and temperature profiles, have been retrieved successfully through using a proxy imager, Himawari-8/Advanced Himawari Imager(AHI), and sounder data, obtained from the Atmospheric Infra Red Sounder, thus demonstrating their robustness. 5Response-surface-based structural reliability analysis with random and interval mixed uncertainties显示文摘Traditional reliability analysis requires probability distributions of all the uncertain parameters.However,in many practical applications,the variation bounds can be only determined for the parameters with limited information.A complex hybrid reliability problem then will be caused when the random and interval variables coexist in a same structure.In this paper,by introducing the response surface technique,we develop a new hybrid reliability method to efficiently compute the interval of the failure probability of the structure due to the probability-interval hybrid uncertainty.The present method consists of a sequence of iterations.At each step,a response surface model is constructed for the limit-state function by using a quadratic polynomial and a modified axial experimental design method.An approximate hybrid reliability problem is created based on the response surface model,which is subsequently solved by an efficient decoupling approach.An updating strategy is suggested to improve the quality of the response surface and whereby ensure the reliability analysis precision.A computational procedure is then summarized for the whole iterations.Four numerical examples and also a practical application are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the present method.HAN Xu JIANG Chao LIU LiXin LIU Jie LONG XiangYun 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,7:14
6Indoor SVOC pollution in China:A review显示文摘Epidemiological and toxicological studies have proved that semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) may have significant adverse effects on human health.For example,phthalic acid esters (PAEs),polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) may harm the endocrine,reproductive and respiratory systems of humans.Moreover,some SVOCs are carcinogenic.This paper summarizes the source emission characteristics for typical SVOCs observed indoors,evaluates the gas-phase and particle-phase concentrations of indoor di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) under the steady-state condition,estimates the exposure of PAEs and the health risk of PAHs,and then proposes some solutions to some urgent problems for indoor SVOC pollution.The results show that the production and consumption quantities of plasticizers,coal and cigarettes in China are the highest in the world,and that the consumption of flame retardants and pesticides are also very high.As estimated,indoor plasticizer and flame retardant concentrations are higher in China than that of the developed countries such as the USA,which implies that indoor SVOC pollution may be more serious in China.According to the model analysis,DEHP remains mainly in the particle-phase under the steady-state condition;the particle-phase concentration of DEHP increases with increasing particle concentration.The exposure of DEHP is higher for children than it is for adults.It is estimated that 260 thousand people are diagnosed with cancer resulting from exposure to PAHs every year.A multidisciplinary approach to the further study of indoor SVOC pollution is necessary.WANG LiXin ZHAO Bin LIU Cong LIN Hui YANG Xu ZHANG YinPing 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,15:13
7Role of locust Locusta migratoria manilensis claws and pads in attaching to substrates显示文摘The present study attempts to investigate the role of rigid claws and smooth adhesive pads in the locust Locusta migratoria manilensis,when attaching to various substrates.We measured the attachment forces on sandpaper and silicate glass plate of locusts with intact attachment system,and those with either the pretarsal claws or the tarsal pads having been entirely destroyed,to explore the role of pads and claws when a locust is walking on various substrates.To obtain information about morphological characteristics and material properties of the claws,we examined the intact and fractured claws by scanning electron microscopy,and tested the fractural force in a fracture experiment.We proposed a mechanical model for locust climbing on a slanting surface to analyze the conduction and final result of the attachment forces generated by the attachment organs on the fore-,mid-and hindlegs.Attachment forces generated by locusts with destroyed pads were similar to those generated by locusts with intact attachment system on both substrates,which presumably indicated that the claws have a significantly important role when attaching to various substrates.The result of the fracture experiment demonstrated that the claws are made of relatively stiff material,and their shear strength ranged between 39-45 MPa.Mechanical analysis of locust climbing on slanting surface showed that the force generated by the hindlegs suspended the whole body of locust up from the surface and pushed the body forward,while the midlegs steadily suspended the centre of gravity and the forelegs pulled the suspended body forward.The results obtained contribute to the further interpretation of the interaction mechanisms between insect attachment system and substrates,and supply information for designing and manufacturing slippery plates for trapping plague locusts.WANG LiXin ZHOU Qiang XU ShuYan 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,8:13

10Pediatric reference intervals in China(PRINCE):design and rationale for a large,multicenter collaborative cross-sectional study显示文摘There is a lack of accurate pediatric reference intervals(RIs) in China, with most commonly used RIs established without consideration of the effect of age and gender. The Pediatric Reference Intervals in China(PRINCE) project aims to establish and verify pediatric RIs for 31 common laboratory measurands.The project will be a large, multicenter cross-sectional study:14,490 healthy children and adolescents aged up to 19 years will be surveyed by 10 children's hospitals and one pediatric department of a university hospital. To evaluate the feasibility and efficiency of the study methods, 602 children were surveyed in the pilot phase of the PRINCE study in April 2017: it found that some measurands were distinctly age dependent and that there were differences between values for males and females. The results of the pilot study affirmed the necessity of the PRINCE project for Chinese pediatrics. The pilot also indicated potential difficulties in the full survey, e.g., difficulties in recruiting children aged under 3 years and insufficient collection of blood samples from infants. 11Investigation of the sliding friction behaviors of locust on slippery plates显示文摘The slippery trapping plate in swarm locust control is a method of realizing resource utilization of locust and avoiding pesticide residues in the entironment. Some slippery plates with different material composition or surface characteristic were investigated through the sliding tests of locust on slippery plates, and sliding rubbing behaviors of locusts on the plate were observed by means of CCD video monitoring system. Poor sliding character of silicate glass to locust was verified, which is in accordance with the adhesive effect generated by secretion of locust feet pads on the smooth surface. And also, PVC plastic plate presents a poor sliding character to locusts, because the soft surface of PVC can permit claws of locust feet to engender mechanical interlock on the surface. The zinc plate shows a considerable slippery ratio for locusts because of the appropriate surface characteristic and material property. Photoelectric stimulation for resting locust can promote the movement of locust. Accordingly, the contact form of locust feet and abdomen on slippery plates is changed and contact area is reduced severely, so the sliding effect of locust on slippery plates is strengthened effectively. 12Cavitation characteristics of pit structure in ultrasonic field显示文摘Bubble collecting, bubble holding and micro-bubble ejecting characteristics of pit structure and the influence of cavitation bubble on the development of erosion pit are investigated by means of highspeed photography experiments. Pits tend to collect and hold wandering cavitation bubbles. The air holding phenomenon of pits can be a destination of the incubation period in the process of cavitation erosion. The holding bubble tends to eject micro-bubbles from the top of holding cavitation bubble, making the pit a source of nuclei. With bubbles being held in pits, the diameters of pits increase rapidly. But in the given experiment condition, there is a specific stable value beyond which the diameter of pits will not increase. 13Clearance Influence on Dynamic Response of Intermittent Roller Chain Drive显示文摘The clearances appear in chain link hinges induced by manufacturing tolerance or wear of components are the most important factor that influences the dynamic performance of the intermittent roller chain drives.Due to the existence of the clearances in chain link hinges,the serious impact vibration phenomenon which influences the stability and the position accuracy of the chain drive system would be caused in the intermittent motion.But,the problem may be that a reasonable modeling on the chain with clearances is difficult due to the large clearance's number in chain system and the fact that the clearance' size are different.Currently,the studies on the dynamics of the intermittent roller chain considering the multi-clearance' joints are rare.Most research works have only focused on the constant moving chains.Taking the intermittent roller chain system as an object,this paper designs and builds the experimental device of this kind of mechanical system.The Longitudinal vibration response of the intermittent chain under the different motion laws was tested.The experimental study shows that the clearances presented in chain link hinges can cause severe impact vibration in the intermittent motion of chain.In subsequent work,the dynamic model of the intermittent roller chain system with the multi-clearance' joints was established.By calculating the dynamic response of this kind of mechanical system under the different motion laws,the effect of the clearances on the dynamic response of the intermittent chain drive system was analyzed.The theoretical simulation shows that the serious impact vibration phenomenon of the chain system can be caused by the clearances at the start accelerating period,and the chain drive system is often accompanied by the severe shock and vibration at the moment that the chain moves from the acceleration period to deceleration period.The research conclusions made by the experimental and theoretical studies indicate that the use of motion laws with small and continuous jerk at conversion point can effectively suppress the impact vibration at this point caused by clearances' effect.Additionally,the use of nonsymmetrical motion laws with small jerk approaching the end of the indexing period can obtain a smaller residual vibration.The presented motion law can provide an important reference for the improvement of the dynamic performance of the intermittent chain drive systems.XU Lixin YANG Yuhu CHANG Zongyu SHEN Zhaoguang LIU Jianping 2010Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2010,23,6:11

15Distributed Adaptive Cooperative Tracking of Uncertain Nonlinear Fractional-order Multi-agent Systems显示文摘In this paper, the leader-following tracking problem of fractional-order multi-agent systems is addressed. The dynamics of each agent may be heterogeneous and has unknown nonlinearities. By assumptions that the interaction topology is undirected and connected and the unknown nonlinear uncertain dynamics can be parameterized by a neural network, an adaptive learning law is proposed to deal with unknown nonlinear dynamics, based on which a kind of cooperative tracking protocols are constructed. The feedback gain matrix is obtained to solve an algebraic Riccati equation. To construct the fully distributed cooperative tracking protocols, the adaptive law is also adopted to adjust the coupling weight. With the developed control laws,we can prove that all signals in the closed-loop systems are guaranteed to be uniformly ultimately bounded. 16Sustaining enhanced condensation on hierarchical mesh-covered surfaces显示文摘Controlling the solid–liquid–vapor tri-phase interface is of fundamental importance for a broad range of industrial applications including biomedical engineering, energy production and utilization, environmental control, water production, and thermal management. Although a lot of progress has been made over the past few decades on surface manipulation for promoting droplet removal, it is challenging to accelerate both droplet growth and surface refreshing for enhancing vapor-to-liquid condensation. Here we present a superhydrophobic hierarchical mesh-covered(hi-mesh) surface to enable continuous sucking flow of liquid condensate, which achieves fourfold-higher droplet growth and 36.8% faster surface refreshing compared to the state-of-the-art dropwise condensation. Unprecedented enhanced condensation heat transfer is observed to be sustained over a wide range of surface subcooling on the hi-mesh surfaces. 17Simulation of CO_2 variations at Chinese background atmospheric monitoring stations between 2000 and 2009: Applying a CarbonTracker model显示文摘We carried out a downscaling treatment over China using the CarbonTracker numerical model,which was applied using double grid nesting technology(3°×2°over the whole globe,1°×1°over China),simulating and analyzing atmospheric CO2concentrations over 10 recent years(2000–2009).The simulation results agreed very well with observed data from four background atmospheric monitoring stations in China(The periods for which the simulation results and observed values be compared were January2000 to December 2009 for the WLG station and June 2006 to December 2009 for the SDZ,LFS,and LAN stations),giving correlation coefficients of>0.7.The high-resolution simulation data correlated slightly better than the low resolution simulation data with the observed data for three of the regions’atmospheric background stations.Further analysis of the annual,seasonal CO2concentration variations at the background stations showed that the CO2concentration increased each year over the study period,with an average annual increase of more than 5%,and annual increases of more than 7%at the Shangdianzi and Lin’an stations.Seasonal CO2variations were greater at the Longfengshan station than at the Shangdianzi or Lin’an stations.However,the CO2concentrations were higher at the Shangdianzi and Lin’an stations because they are greatly affected by human activities in the Jingjinji and Changjiang Delta economic zones.Spatial distribution in CO2concentrations and fluxes were higher in eastern than in western China.CHENG YanLi AN XingQin YUN FangHua ZHOU LingXi LIU LiXin FANG ShuangXi XU Lin 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,32:8

19Dynamic Modeling of a Roller Chain Drive System Considering the Flexibility of Input Shaft显示文摘Roller chain drives are widely used in various high-speed, high-load and power transmission applications, but their complex dynamic behavior is not well researched. Most studies were only focused on the analysis of the vibration of chain tight span, and in these models, many factors are neglected. In this paper, a mathematical model is developed to calculate the dynamic response of a roller chain drive working at constant or variable speed condition. In the model, the complete chain transmission with two sprockets and the necessary tight and slack spans is used. The effect of the flexibility of input shaft on dynamic response of the chain system is taken into account, as well as the elastic deformation in the chain, the inertial forces, the gravity and the torque on driven shaft. The nonlinear equations of movement are derived from using Lagrange equations and solved numerically. Given the center distance and the two initial position angles of teeth on driving and driven sprockets corresponding to the first seating roller on each side of the tight span, dynamics of any roller chain drive with two sprockets and two spans can be analyzed by the procedure. Finally, a numerical example is given and the validity of the procedure developed is demonstrated by analyzing the dynamic behavior of a typical roller chain drive. The model can well simulate the transverse and longitudinal vibration of the chain spans and the torsional vibration of the sprockets. 20Laparoscopic treatment for suspected gallbladder cancer confined to the wall: a 10-year study from a single institution显示文摘Objective: Although laparoscopic treatment of gallbladder cancer(GBC) has been explored in the last decade,long-term results are still rare. This study evaluates long-term results of intended laparoscopic treatment for suspected GBC confined to the gallbladder wall, based on our experience over 10 years.Methods: Between August 2006 and December 2015, 164 patients with suspected GBC confined to the wall were enrolled in the protocol for laparoscopic surgery. The process for GBC treatment was analyzed to evaluate the feasibility of computed tomography(CT) and/or magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) combined with frozen-section examination in identifying GBC confined to the wall. Of 159 patients who underwent the intended laparoscopic radical treatment, 47 with pathologically proven GBC were investigated to determine the safety and oncologic outcomes of a laparoscopic approach to GBC.Results: Among the 164 patients, 5 patients avoided further radical surgery because of unresectable disease and12 were converted to open surgery; in the remaining 147 patients, totally laparoscopic treatment was successfully accomplished. Extended cholecystectomy was performed in 37 patients and simple cholecystectomy in 10. The T stages based on final pathology were Tis(n=6), T1 a(n=2), T1 b(n=9), T2(n=26), and T3(n=4). Recurrence was detected in 11 patients over a median follow-up of 51 months. The disease-specific 5-year survival rate of these 47 patients was 68.8%, and rose to 85% for patients with a normal cancer antigen 19-9(CA19-9) level.Conclusions: The favorable long-term outcomes demonstrate the feasibility of combined CT/MRI and frozensection examination in the selection of patients with GBC confined to the gallbladder wall, confirm the oncologic safety of laparoscopic treatment in selected GBC patients, and favor measurement of preoperative CA19-9 in the selection of GBCs suitable for laparoscopic treatment.Lingfu Zhang Chunsheng Hou Zhi Xu Lixin Wang Xiaofeng Ling Dianrong Xiu 2018Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,1:6
