| 1 | The Genomes of the Allohexaploid Echinochloa crus-galli and Its Progenitors Provide Insights into Polyploidization-Driven Adaptation显示文摘The hexaploid species Echinochloa crus-galli is one of the most detrimental weeds in crop fields,especially in rice paddies.Its evolutionary history is similar to that of bread wheat,arising through polyploidization after hybridization between a tetraploid and a diploid species.In this study,we generated and analyzed high-quality genome sequences of diploid(E.haploclada),tetraploid(E.oryzicola),and hexaploid(E.crus-galli)Echinochloa species.Gene family analysis showed a significant loss of disease-resistance genes such as those encoding NB-ARC domain-containing proteins during Echinochloa polyploidization,contrary to their significant expansionduring wheat polyploidization,suggesting that natural selection might favor reduced investment in resistance in this weed to maximize its growth and reproduction.In contrast to the asymmetric patterns of genome evolution observed in wheat and other crops,no significant differences in selection pressure were detected between the subgenomes in E.oryzicola and E.crus-galli.In addition,distinctive differences in subgenome transcriptome dynamics during hexaploidization were observed between E.crus-galli and bread wheat.Collectively,our study documents genomic mechanisms underlying the adaptation of a major agricultural weed during polyploidization.The genomic and transcriptomic resources of three Echinochloa species and new insights into the polyploidization-driven adaptive evolution would be useful for future breeding cereal crops. | Chu-Yu Ye Dongya Wu Lingfeng Mao Lei Jia Jie Qiu Sangting Lao Meihong Chen Bowen Jiang Wei Tang Qiong Peng Lang Pan Lifeng Wang Xiaoxiao Feng Longbiao Guo Chulong Zhang Elizabeth A.Kellogg Kenneth M.Olsen Lianyang Bai Longjiang Fan | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,9: | 4 |

| 3 | DIW1 encoding a cladeⅠPP2C phosphatase negatively regulates drought tolerance by de-phosphorylating TaSnRK1.1 in wheat显示文摘Drought seriously impacts wheat production(Triticum aestivum L.),while the exploitation and utilization of genes for drought tolerance are insufficient.Leaf wilting is a direct reflection of drought tolerance in plants.Clade A PP2Cs are abscisic acid(ABA)co-receptors playing vital roles in the ABA signaling pathway,regulating drought response.However,the roles of other clade PP2Cs in drought tolerance,especially in wheat,remain largely unknown.Here,we identified a gain-of-function drought-induced wilting 1(DIW1)gene from the wheat Aikang 58 mutant library by map-based cloning,which encodes a cladeⅠprotein phosphatase 2C(TaPP2C158)with enhanced protein phosphatase activity.Phenotypic analysis of overexpression and CRISPR/Cas9 mutant lines demonstrated that DIW1/TaPP2C158 is a negative regulator responsible for drought resistance.We found that TaPP2C158 directly interacts with TaSnRK1.1 and de-phosphorylates it,thus inactivating the TaSnRK1.1–Ta AREB3 pathway.TaPP2C158 protein phosphatase activity is negatively correlated with ABA signaling.Association analysis suggested that C-terminal variation of TaPP2C158 changing protein phosphatase activity is highly correlated with the canopy temperature,and seedling survival rate under drought stress.Our data suggest that the favorable allele with lower phosphatase activity of TaPP2C158 has been positively selected in Chinese breeding history.This work benefits us in understanding the molecular mechanism of wheat drought tolerance,and provides elite genetic resources and molecular markers for improving wheat drought tolerance. | Jingyi Wang Chaonan Li Long Li Lifeng Gao Ge Hu Yanfei Zhang Matthew P.Reynolds Xueyong Zhang Jizeng Jia Xinguo Mao Ruilian Jing | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,8: | 1 |
| 4 | A three-dimensional transient electromagnetic data inversion method based on a time–frequency transformation显示文摘Herein,a three-dimensional(3D)inversion method in the frequency domain based on a time–frequency transformation was developed to improve the efficiency of the 3D inversion of transient electromagnetic(TEM)data.The Fourier transform related to the electromagnetic response in the frequency and time domains becomes a sine or cosine transform under the excitation of downward-step current.We established a transformation matrix based on the digital fi ltering calculation for the sine transform,and then the frequency domain projection of the TEM data was determined from the linear transformation system using the smoothing constrained least squares inversion method,in which only the imaginary part was used to maintain the TEM data transformation equivalence in the bidirectional projection.Thus,the time-domain TEM inversion problem was indirectly and effectively solved in the frequency domain.In the 3D inversion of the transformed frequency-domain data,the limited-memory Broyden–Fletcher–Goldfarb–Shannoquasi–Newton(L-BFGS)method was used and modifi ed with a restart strategy to adjust the regularization parameter when the algorithm tended to a local minimum.Synthetic data tests showed that our domain transformation method can stably project the TEM data into the frequency domain with very high accuracy;furthe rmore,the 3D inversion of the transformed frequency-domain data is stable,can be used to recover the real resistivity model with an acceptable effi ciency. | Yang Yun-Jian Wang Xu-Ben Liu Xue-Jun Mi Xiao-Li Mao Lifeng | 2020 | Applied Geophysics2020,17,3: | 1 |

| 7 | The influence of climate and topography on chemical weathering of granitic regoliths in the monsoon region of China显示文摘Exploring the relationship between weathering and erosion is essential for understanding the evolution of landscapes and formation of soil under the influence of climate, tectonics, and topography. We measured the bulk chemistry of regoliths and calculated their weathering rates and intensity in three locations in China: Inner Mongolia in the mid-temperate semi-humid zone; Jiangxi Province, in the mid-subtropical humid zone; and Hainan Province, in the tropical humid zone. These profiles exhibited increased weathering with increasing temperature and precipitation.The low-gradient profile exhibited stronger weathering of saprolite than of soil, whereas the high-gradient profile showed a more constant weathering pattern. The regolith in the cold climate was the product of easily weatherable minerals, whereas weathering of K-feldspar and even secondary minerals occurred in hot and humid climates. The weathering of subtropical profiles was both supply-and kinetic-limited, controlled by weathering and erosion. The tropical profile experienced supply-limited weathering,indicating slow erosion and an intense weathering profile;the mid-temperate profile was not classifiable due to weak erosion and weathering. Long-term weathering fluxes of these profiles show that Si, Na, and K(or Mg) represent thebulk of the mass lost through weathering.
